What a beautiful place to stay. While you are right on the outskirts of Swellendam, you feel like you could be miles away from civilization in the quiet of nature. The villa that we stayed was beautifully appointed with 2 massive bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms. The small kitchenette is adequate for basic warming of food as well as small prep of food. A braai can be requested if you wish to have a braai. You are a stones throw (5 minute drive) from many good eateries offering a wide variety of evening meals. The breakfast that was included in our booking was outstanding, offering more choice than we could eat. The staff are friendly and attentive if you need any assistance with anything.

The open spaces, silence, the tranquility, and comfort. But also the service, and it's not far from town but also far enough to get the feeling of retraite.

Stunning natural location and views Lovely rooms

No hot water first day - the geyser was not on and we took frigid showers. They turned it on after we washed and reported it,, but not a nice start after travel. Incredibly slow internet - we couldn't watch a movie as planned in evening. They said someone would be coming to fix it the day we left. No special meal on request as promised on the amenities - we told them a week in advance that one person was gluten free, but they didn't provide any gluten free bread etc.

The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and the location was convenient. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Extra friendly and helpful staff, Estelle and her staff went out of their way for us.

Stunning place, friendly and accommodating staff esp front of house lady. Breakfast was absolutely devine and the attention to detail.

The bath had no privacy screen.

The breakfast menu was simple but delicious. They offer muesli and fruit salad and yoghurt on the side, and then you can order a few egg options off the menu. The omlettes were very good. Stunning setting. Feels very remote despite being so close to the town. Felt completely safe on the premises. Loved being able to bath & watch tv or look out onto the mountains. The staff were kind enough to put a microwave in my room for my dinners.

The unit outside was dirty. Old plastic bottles and rubbish just other side the entrance wall. Verandah was dirty, little table filthy with dirty cigarette butts on the table. Only two outside cushions, yet 4 chairs. Number 9 off the wall Water fountains not working. The area by the main front door had not been cleaned. Dirty marks on the furniture. Just a overall neglected look. We really wanted to braai. When asking for a braai they said sorry no braai's, yet on asking the following day if we can bring our own we were told, "just ask next time you book in."

We stayed in rooms 1 & 2. The rooms and verandah were dirty and need to be updated. The shower did not drain properly. The throws on the beds smelt of urine.. The rugs needed a wash and so did all the cushion covers. There were not enough plates, cutlery or cups for all 4 of us. The breakfast was not good at all.

Comfortable chalets in a beautiful location. The mountain views are stunning, the chalets are clean and well maintained, the breakfast is delicious, and the staff are lovely.

Beautiful location. Very tranquil and close to town and restaurants. Comfortable clean room. Very handy having the kitchenette.

Our room was not serviced properly. Given no towels and we discovered in the evening and there was no one available to help. Also water wasn’t given the second day we stayed and tea etc not filled up. Breakfast was not great.

Spontan gebucht, kurzes Missverständnis zu Beginn seitens der Lodge, aber es wurde eine wunderbare Lösung gefunden, sehr angenehmes Personal, große, entspannende Anlage.

We hadden twee huisjes en voor zover we dat kunnen inschatten is er al 20 jaar niets aan onderhoud gedaan. Oude versleten meubels, kapotte vloerkleden, aangevreten keukenkastjes. Niet werkende verlichting, muur bijgewerkt met verschillende kleuren ?! Versleten drempels en nauwelijks werkende wifi. De kakkerlakken vonden het overigens wel allemaal top. 4 sterren ??? WTF… zijn een dag eerder vertrokken want ik hoef niet zo nodig in die ouwe troep te zitten

De ligging is echt prachtig. Erg verrassend waren de kamers in de huisjes. We waren met 4 personen en hadden een heel huisje met 2 badkamers en woonkamer en groot terras met uitzicht op de bergen. Het ontbijt was ook lekker!

Wij komen hier al jaren voor ons is dit het allerbeste onderkomen in Swellendam. De omgeving de grote mooie kamer het grote terras bij de kamer en het prachtige uitzicht op het natuurgebied. Het vriendelinke personeel en het goede ontbijt.

De locatie! Wat een rust en ruimte. De kamer is lekker groot. De airco werkt goed. Het zwembad is een goede verkoeling op warme dagen. Je bent met een paar minuten bij goede restaurants in Swellendam. De groep apen die in de ochtend en avond langs je huisje lopen.

Ontbijt was voor ons goed omdat wij van eieren houden, maar mocht dat niet het geval zijn, zijn er weinig andere opties.

Im Zimmer war es eher düster und die Terrassenmöbel mangelhaft. Die Sitzfläche auf einem Stuhl war stark verschmutzt. Es war im Zimmer eine absolut ungemütliche und depressive Stimmung.

We hadden het appartement en dat was enorm groot. Er hoorde ook een groot terras bij. Fijn dat er een woonkamer was met een zithoek en zelfs een eettafel. 's Ochtends is er een heerlijk ontbijt in een gezellige ruimte. Het terrein is zo groot dat je er kunt wandelen. Het uitzicht op de bergen is prachtig. Onze zoon kon vissen in de vijvers en we hebben er gegolfd.

De terrasstoelen zijn niet erg comfortabel en de wifi werkt slecht.

Swellendam is an amazing place. Gaikou is even better. Their breakfast is exceptional, together with such a warm and cozy room for the winter. Not to mention the views and activities.

la climatisation de la chambre double dysfonctionnait , la propreté à revoir , le mobilier n'a pas été changé depuis belle lurette, il y a des caches misères , la terrasse était sale, la piscine sale, les fauteuils sales ! nous avons le petit dejeuner le 1er jour et le 2eme jour, nous sommes partis sans le prendre tellement que l'huile utilisée était ancienne et donnant un mauvais goût aux plats ! cet établissement n'est pas un hasard, j'étais venue , il y a 5 ans et j'avis fait wow ! malheureusement, les soins apportés sont délaissés, l'herbe du jardin pas coupée ... Bref, probablement, le plus cher de notre séjour et le plus décevant et portant, le potentiel est là ! Vraiment dommage

The location is lovely and very peaceful. The rooms were clean, the linen was fresh, and the surroundings made for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly. Overall, it felt comfortable and quiet, which we really enjoyed.

The WiFi was not working during our stay, the pool needed cleaning, and the property would benefit from some updating to better match the beautiful setting.

Ausgezeichnete Unterkunft im historischen Swellendam mit sehr freundlichen Gastgebern mit tollen, großräumigen, luxuriös eingerichteten Appartements umgeben von viel Grün mit großartigem Bergblick. Tolle Gegend um auf der Garden Route etwas zur Ruhe zu kommen. Das Frühstück ist nicht sehr umfangreich, aber sehr gut. Parkplätze stehen direkt an den Appartements zur Verfügung. Schöner Außenpool mit Bergblick. In Swellendam gibt es viele Einkaufmöglichkeiten und sehr gute Restaurants / Cafes. Tagestouren sind insbesondere zum Cape Agulhas und nach Still Bay möglich und sehr empfehlenswert. Das WLAN ist teils etwas langsam, dafür ist die Gegend aber auch über mobile Daten sehr gut abgedeckt. Sehr besondere Unterkunft an einem tollen Ort! Insgesamt sehr empfehlenswert. Vielen Dank!

Swimming pool out of order. THis is sad with the kids. Breakfast: a little more choice / different breads / pancakes would have been appreciated :-)

Alles ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen

The view! The room was nice and spacious. Breakfast was great, and the staff were very accommodating. The aircon works very well.

The outside chairs were not very clean and had lots of spider webs. The Internet was unreliable.

Great room and I like that we had a bath. The views of the mountain are breathtaking, and the breakfast is second to none. The town has many little restaurants and coffee spots. There is a nature reserve next door if you are keen on some adventure. Everything was top notch.

The swimming pool was good, but could be cleaner.

This property has massive potential, but unfortunately it feels like the owner has lost interest. The rooms were very spacious, but cold and lacking any welcoming touches. The outdoor areas were dirty and full of cobwebs, which was disappointing. Breakfast was very poor and did not meet expectations. Overall, the experience was not pleasant and we would not recommend staying here.

Very poor wi-fi. Breakfast hours strictly only from 08:00-09:30 is really restricting, as we some mornings wanted to leave early then had to miss paid for breakfasts.

Grosszügiges Zimmer mit grosser Terrasse inmitten von viel Natur. Die Unterkunft ist schon ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen, ist aber sauber und bietet für einen längeren Aufenthalt auch eine kleine Küche. Das Frühstück ist typisch englisch, ohne grosse Auswahl, aber für 1-2 Tage in Ordnung. Parkplatz direkt vor der Haustüre.

Etwas abseits und einsam gelegen. Einrichtung ist etwas düster und schon ein wenig älter, vielleicht gibt es ja demnächst eine Renovation von Badezimmer und Einrichtung, dann könnte das wieder eine sehr hübsche Unterkunft werden für Menschen welche gerne in der Natur übernachten.
