Reviewed Sep 15, 2026The location of this hotel was close to the town square and everything was in walking distance. We liked that they had parking available although getting to the carpark was tricky and needed special instructions but we managed it. The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The only thing to note was there is no lift so you need to be able to carry your bags up a couple of flights of stairs. This is because all the buildings are very old but that's part of the charm of Rothenberg.

Wir waren auf den Tag an unserem 50.Hochzeitstag angereist und haben das beim Einchecken beiläufig erwähnt am darauf folgenden Morgen wurden wir an einen wirklich schön gedeckten und geschmückten Tisch begleitet . Das Frühstücks Büffet lies keine Wünsche offen .Das waren 4 schöne Tage im Hotel Sonne . Wir werden nächstes Jahr auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.Ulrike und Karl-Heinz Becker aus Leimen

Reviewed Sep 12, 2026Gutes herzliches Frühstück, aber die Zimmer sind zu hellhörig, die ganze Nacht kamen Leute nach Hause und klopften an die Nachbartüren, jede Toilettenspülung und Duschvorgänge waren zu hören, die Inhaber sind sehr gastfreundlich, aber die Zimmer sind nicht gut.

Reviewed Aug 22, 2026This historic hotel is located in a very convenient area of the city. The breakfast buffet was fabulous. The photos in the dining room showcase wonderful little details and sights from around the city.
There is no air conditioning in the room, although this wasn’t a problem for us as it gets cooler at night, even during a heat wave. There is also no lift, which wasn’t a problem for us, but you may want to ask the hotel in advance if you need help with your luggage.

Dass es kein Lift hatte, ist es mir sehr schwer gefallen mich zu freuen. Ich schaue immer beim Reservieren schon, ob man parkieren kann und oh es Lift hat. Diesmal war mir die Kühlung wichtiger, und vergass nach den Lift zu schauen. Jedenfalls ist mir klar, dass ich kein zweites Mal dort lande.

From the location, the exceptional responsiveness, lovely staff, and delicious breakfast offerings, this is the place you want to stay at if you’re in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. My partner and I actually tried to extend our stay, but were unable to because the hotel was fully booked - and it’s absolutely apparent why. We will be back!
Our GPS gave us a hard time making it to the place due to road closures, but this is absolutely not the hotels fault.

Reviewed Aug 5, 2026Hotellet låg centralt i gamla stadskärnan och var lätt att nå. Parkering fanns 100 m bort. Frukosten var över förväntan med många saker att välja på. Personalen var mycket hjälpsam och tillmötesgående.
Det framgick av annonsen att AC skulle vara tillgänglig, men utgjordes av fläktar på rummet. Heta sommardagar hjälper inte de fullt ut.

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026街の中心にあったロケーションは最高、ドイツの旧市街の雰囲気を堪能することができました。施設もたいへんよく手入れされていて、清潔で気持ちよく過ごすことができました。家族経営のホテルで、オーナー一家もとても良いお人柄で親切に対応してくれました。朝食がたいへん充実していて、とても美味しかったです。
旧市街の建物なので部屋がやや狭く、また空調がないことが暑い夏では少し不便でした。ただ、城内旧市街で夜を過ごすことができた体験はとても良かったです。

Reviewed Jul 18, 2026Zweckmäßige, trotzdem gemütliche Zimmer in einem hübschen, herrlich klimatisierten Hotel in bester Altstadtlage. Die eigene Klimaanlage im Zimmer tat sehr gut und war schön leise. Das Personal ist sehr sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück ist lecker und umfangreich, mit kleinen Köstlichkeiten.
Leider empfanden wir die Matratzen als zu hart und sind mit Rückenschmerzen aufgewacht, aber das sind persönliche Empfindlichkeiten.

Die Matratze war etwas zu weich. Was man wissen sollte: Die Zimmer sind nur über eine recht steile Treppe erreichbar.

Havde været godt med mulighed for at lade i den aflåste garage - det havde været perfekt for de som bruger hotellet som stopover.

Reviewed Jul 6, 2026Die Lage des Hotels ist sehr gut, man ist gleich am Marktplatz. Zimmer sehr ansprechend und ruhig. Frühstück wurde als Buffet angeboten. Alles vorhanden. Bekamen zur Abfahrt pro Person gratis eine kleine Flasche Wasser, mit auf den Heimweg. Sehr nettes Personal.
Duschkopf tröpfelte nur, dafür kam von der Handbrause die volle Wucht.

Reviewed Jul 3, 2026Top-Lage, direkt in der Altstadt. Alles ist von hier aus, bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen, der Markplatz ist nur knapp 100 Schritte vom Hotel entfernt. Das Zimmer ist groß, hell und sauber. Das Personal ist hervorragend. Freundlich, zuvorkommend und immer zur Stelle. Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine Wünsche offen. Kurz gesagt, der Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war spitze und ich kann es jedem weiter empfehlen. Bei meiner nächsten Foto-Tour werde ich mich auf jeden Fall wieder dort einbuchen.
Bedingt durch die Hitze im Juni '26, war das Zimmer extrem aufgeheizt und es gab leider keine Klimaanalage.

Reviewed Jun 30, 2026Fantastiskt! Det går att ha fina lokaler, men riktigt bemötande går inte att köpa, eller renovera. Vilket härligt hotell! Omtanke, detaljer, ett GALLERI, terass, och allt detta helt centralt i gamla stadskärnan!
Ja vad?? Inget egentligen. Om jag istället skulle ge ett råd så skulle det vara att direkt lotsa till hotellets fina garage, 3,5 min promenad från Hotellets entre. "Kleine Hotel Sonne är verkligen en ny favorit, och vi kommer att besöka Rothenburg fler gånger! Redan nu är det jultema, undrar hur staden ser ut när det är julmarknad "på riktigt"!!

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026Wir hatten ein schönes, grosses und sehr ruhiges Zimmer mit einer nicht ganz so schönen Aussicht, aber das hat uns nicht gestört. Es gab keine Klimaanlage im Zimmer, aber immerhin stand da ein Ventilator. Das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet, die Gastgeber sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Wir hatten dieses Hotel allein wegen der Klimaanlage gewählt, und waren dann sehr überrascht, als wir erfuhren, dass wir ein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage gebucht hatten. Es gibt offenbar zwei Kategorien von Zimmern (mit / ohne Klimaanlage), aber das ist kaum ersichtlich, wenn die Zimmer mit Klimaanlage schon ausgebucht sind. Es war zwar mein Fehler, dass ich bei der Zimmerausstattung die Klimaanlage nicht überprüft hatte. Aber ich finde es schon irreführend: Man wählt ein Hotel mit Klimaanlage, überprüft das bei der Ausstattung des Hotels und wählt dann ein Zimmer aus der einzigen Kategorie, die einem angeboten wird. Wer kommt da auf Idee, dass es ein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage ist?

Reviewed Jun 28, 2026Kjempekoselig hotell midt i den vakre byen. Rene og pene rom. Veldig god frokost. Svært hyggelig og hjelpsomt personale. Vi kunne lade bilen i hotellets garasje løpet av natta (mot betaling, selvfølgelig). Vi valgte heldigvis rom med aircondition, siden det var ekstremt varmt ute.
Vi likte igrunn alt, men man bør være oppmerksom på at der ikke er heis. Hotellet har bare 3 etasjer, så det var overkommelig.
