We stayed in one of the apartments. It was great to have a kitchen and sitting area. Everything had been thought of. The Location is excellent. Very near to the main street. Lovely views of the Castle and the sea from our room

The curtain hooks on both rails were broken and so didn't close properly. The tiles in the shower were not cleaned properly

Looks wonderful in the pictures, but actual place is way less. The appartments they use behond the hotel are nothing but delressing. The bed in the appartment has the cheapest matrass known to man, reception has been rude and cranky. If you are in the vicinity and need a place to stay, choose any other town but this one. Criccieth is like to hotel.

Fantastic breakfast,and staff were very welcoming

The room we were in needed a good upgrade, paint flaking off the wall,we found a small beetle on the duvet and it was noisy above our room ,the lights in the room were not very good they kept flickering.

Bed was clean and comfortable. All food was excellent, Indian meal particularly good. Very convenient for local amenities. Would visit again.

One bar man and one reception man quite serious but did their job. Thought floor in restaurant seemed sticky. If floor wipes are used, I think this can be the result.

Very tired decor, no signs for the lift so we didn’t know where to get on/off. Barman very unhelpful, no smile but didn’t even talk to us.

The location was good especially for our trip and the bed was comfortable.

The hotel needs some updating, the decor looks old and tired. Considering the price we paid we were expecting a lot more. The breakfast was OK but nothing special.

My elderly parents got there, the bathroom bin was not emptied. God knows what was in there. Told reception but not emptied. We are there on the first night fish and chips were not great, there was hardly any fish in the batter. Was given a 10% voucher on first night. The discount was taken off but then service charge put on so only 50p discount. On our last day, our battery in car died, we were sitting in and around hotel but mainly in car waiting for RAC which the reception knew about as i used their phone to call but never once asked how we were getting on let alone asked if we needed anything or even offered a coffee. Sounds a bit whinging but true. (They are 77 and 75. A little bit of humanity, goes along way)

Hotel is in a very convenient location, easy to get to pubs shops bus stops and railway station, the breakfast was excellent, staff are very friendly and helpful. Stayed here several times before, and would definitely stay again.

Das Zimmer war groß, aber es ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war britisch mit Erweiterungen, wie süße Teilchen. Das Restaurant und ein Pub waren im Haus. Das Lion Hotel liegt zentral, jedoch in einer Nebenstraße. Fußläufig kann man viel unternehmen.

Unser Zimmer lag direkt über dem Pub. Beim Frühstück wurde nicht immer schnell nachgefüllt.

Rooms are very tired and need updating. We were without hot water for the majority of the 2 nights we stayed, only got sorted the morning we were leaving, so had a cold shower both nights! Breakfast was chaotic, not enough staff on. It’s a buffet style, and although the food was nice when u got it, they were running out of everything. Definitely overpriced !

Building and furnishings are very tired looking. Breakfast was disappointing, scrambled egg was dried up and milk was sour (it was changed, when requested). Mattress was sagging in the middle and very uncomfortable.

Good location in lovely little seaside town. Lift very useful as we were on the second floor.

Beautiful hotel, staff were all lovely. Family room was brilliant, very spacious. Great breakfast in the mornings. Close to everything, and a great view of the castle from the beer garden. Can't wait to stay again.

Very convenient for Portmierion and very reasonably priced. Very good breakfast and restaurant with both western and Indian menus. We tried both, excellent! Also and very important is the car park which is free. Shops are nearby and so is the castle and beach (a stony beach) All in all good value for money in a good location with very nice staff.

Nothing about the property itself, however some of the guests ( a group of older gentleman who just wanted to get to their golf course) were rude at breakfast time, letting themselves into the dinning area in front of us before staff were ready.

Great venue to explore North Wales. Comfy rooms and a great curryhouse to boot! Great choices for breakfast too.

A group of guests were sat outside our window being very noisy until past midnight. The hotel staff did try to quieten them down but they just got louder. Pack your ear plugs.

Location is excellent, single room I used was very comfortable. Just had breakfast which was freshly cooked and delicious.

My preference is for a more firm mattress, but only a small minus.

The location was perfect. It was very close to the beach and plenty of restaurants/pubs and shops nearby. There was a car park for residents. The room was spacious and clean with comfortable bed and amenities provided. The staff was friendly and b4rekafst was good.

The television was not working. Additionally, some soundproofing would be needed, as we could clearly hear the creaking of the floor whenever someone walked on the top floor, which was quite disturbing.

Location is brilliant, close to shops and beach. Facilities were basic, but good. Apartments were great, free parking and the beds were the most comfortable thing I’ve slept in, anywhere in the UK. Friendly staff, decent breakfast.

TV in bedroom didn’t appear to work. Boiler was very noisy.

It was in a good location and parking was great. Staff provided a fan for the room which was great and refreshed the room when requested.

Perfect location and our window looked onto the castle. The breakfasts were excellent and staff friendly and helpful.

Our room needs a bit of TLC. There is a chip in the toilet cistern, chipped paint and peeling wallpaper in the bedroom. We moved the bed (which was really comfy) and there was rubbish underneath it.

The studio was spacious and coomfortable. An extra fan was provided on request. There was EV charging in the busy car park

It was well positioned, in relation to the sights close to local stores. Very close to the area that we wanted to visit namely Snowdonia mountain range and Portmeirion. Also the views were Absolutely spectacular. Breakfast was very good.

Some teething problems respect to the toilets functioning properly, I mentioned it to the staff and the are to get it sorted.

Our 7th or 8th stay but was disappointed this time with the new staff at breakfast. It was incredibly busy and the new Indian staff, with poor English didn’t manage the service. It was quite chaotic on two mornings. Food ran out and was slow to replenish and the Indian guy taking the tea & toast orders didn’t have them in order. The third morning it was a relief to have one of the established members of staff back working and everything ran smoothly. I believe some of the long standing staff were on holiday, but the new staff need more training.

We used the hotel for B & B, didn't use the bar, but breakfast was good. Lounge looked comfortable and there is an outside garden and car park.

We had a 2nd floor room which was good with a lift for taking luggage upstairs, however there was a family staying in the room above and the children were noisy.

We had the room facing the water, it was spatious and comfortable for the stay. The breakfast was simple but good, we also had a dinner one of the evenings - the curry is great here. The staff were nice as well.

The room seems extremely over priced the hotel and room are in need of major tlc , the room was very grubby and dark and facilities (bathroom especially) were quite poor given without the booking.com discount the apartment was upwards of £170 a night. The toilet was wobbly the shower fittings were very dirty and the bin under the sink was very dirty. The small pillows and sofa were stained . I tried to pop the TV on in the main bedroom but it was stuck on channel 5 (think possibly the batteries had run out on the romote) There was also the added bonus of having a small herd of elephants in the apartment above which meant the stay was far from restful and without anyone on the desk to speak to, there was little room to make a complaint as the desk is not staffed after 9pm (or at early breakfast time). The banging persisted for around 3 hours, I suspect some small children had been left to their own devices whilst their parents went out for the evening. The breakfast was appalling. The sausages had been deep fried so were dry, crispy and greasy , the pastries had developed a skin and tasted of old oil and the eggs would easily doubled up as bouncy balls . By the time check out had come around we just wanted to get out of there . **I know there is a number given for out of hours but it stipulates for emergencies only, so I didn't want to face calling up to complain and it not be something that the hotel wanted to deal with at midnight (noise complaint). Regarding the grubby room I would have brought this up earlier on Thursday to the hotel but my son and I headed out as soon as we had dropped off our bags & spent most of the evening out and about. So had not had time to spot the problems with the room till we came to settle in properly by that time there was no one in the front desk .** It is pretty shocking that hotels can get away with charging premium prices for such poor facilities , I would not stay here again.
