Stayed here a few times. Lovely area. Great food.
To be picky, I would say it needs a bit of a refresh and paint.
Lovely place with friendly staff and great food. Breakfast was exceptional
Said king room on my booking but the bed was definitely only a double size. I did question it but told it was king size
Lovely surroundings, non generic room and the best English breakfast I have ever had. Superb quality products and it was cooked fresh so piping hot.
The shower was very hard to control temperature and the pressure was poor. Also I had no hot water to shave
Well appointed rooms
Electric Shower is a little weak
Food was lovely, little bit on the expensive side but was nice. Breakfast was really lovely. Bed was comfy & room was clean. There was tea & coffee available in the room although the coffee wasn't great, maybe think about changing this out ? Also a mug would of been preferred not a tiny cup! Staff were friendly and helpful.
The noise from the road outside was really loud, I know its not the hotels fault ... but if we were to stay here again I would ask for a room at the rear of the hotel. The bathroom needed some TLC! The toilet was wobbly and the shower was not great. Having to climb in over a high bath is not good, I'm only short so it was a struggle, my husband on the other hand is 6'1 so his head was almost at the ceiling when in the shower!! Maybe redo the bathroom with just a walk in shower would be a massive improvement. The hairdryer was like using a nematic drill it was shaking so much! This needs to be replaced ASAP! A few comfy chairs wouldn't go a miss to relax in after dinner
The Malthouse is a lovely building and has been kept traditional with nice deco. The outside is very nice with amble outdoor facilities The food was amazing and the value was really good. Staff polite and helpful at all times. My only criticism was charging £20 for our very small dog per night. There was a nice little doggie pack but the ball was bigger than her. I would recommend you stay at the Malthouse.
This a a beautiful pub with lots of old wooden beams I love the cottage style asterisks
The room was clean and well equipped. The breakfast was delicious. We ate the in the evening on both nights. I could not find any faults
Nothing to complain about but be aware that it two flights of stairs to the rooms. You can also here the traffic and doors opening and closing from the other rooms
It’s a great place and could be amazing.
Wants a good clean and reinvestment.
Lovely food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Location was good too
We liked everything.
Nice room, excellent food, very comfortable bed.
Stairs very steep, but you can’t do anything about that as it’s an old building,
Beautiful! Stayed here for a gig at the piece hall and it was excellent. Room was perfect, lovely surroundings, excellent beer garden and food was 10/10. Would stay here again
The room was tidy and clean. Nice large en suite. Tasty cooked breakfast, with lashings of tea and toast.
Breakfast service was a little slow, however worth the wait. Took a while for the water to turn hot in the bathroom.
Excellent breakfast
Great location with a warm comfortable out look
It was lovely clean
Nothing
We liked everything, the decor the restaurant and bar,the outdoor bar.
The shower room was a little small
Spacious room, great welcome, fantastic food
The surroundings and location as I live in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax I love the views of the hills. My friend came over to visit West Yorkshire and she loved everything about the hotel and where I lived.
I didn’t dislike everything the breakfast was lovely and evening meal was really nice my friend loved the hotel a well.
Clean and comfortable
Good parking
Bedrooms accessed by two very steep flights of stairs which I found difficult to manage (I’m 73). It would have been good if the venue stated this in their advertising.
All round great place. 3rd time I have stayed here and will continue to do so when I am in the area. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere, fantastic food! And the rooms are perfect.
Nothing not to like
The room which was really nicely decorated and furnished and the comfortable bed. The large car park. The friendly staff.
A lady vacuuming nearby whilst we had breakfast with a friend! But we appreciate it's hard to organise timing, given the open plan layout of the bar and dining area.
Location was good for the area we were visiting. The breakfast had plenty of options for main meal, had cereal and fruit juice. The evening meal was very good and the hotel was very popular for evening meals with the public.
2 flights of fairly steep stairs to rooms but staff helped with luggage and we could manage. Maybe an issue for anyone with mobility problems.
Quiet room, lovely decor. Dinner was excellent and great value with dinner b and b package.
Would have preferred earlier breakfast, but they were helpful getting us cereal and toast.
The character and ambiance of the bar and accommodation was outstanding. We had a meal on arrival which was excellent. The room was really comfortable. I cannot recommend the breakfast enough, the scrambled eggs were very fluffy. Set us up for the whole day. Staff were great. Thank you for making us so welcome 🤗
Everything was great
Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room and good quality food.
Nothing
Lovely environment
Gorgeous location, views, didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food
The rooms were too hot and only had a tiny little fan, was like a sauna. The shower wasn’t the best
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room tasteful and clean with comfy bed. Evening food and breakfast excellent. Lovely outdoor seating area with bar.
Nothing. Everything was lovely.
Lovely customer service, exceptional food, gluten free accommodated, lovely rooms and nice environment

Lovely location and the breakfast was outstanding.
Room was cute but in need of updating.
Excellent rooms, and the staff were amazing 👏
Nothing, all good
Lots of space to park, nice food and wine selection.
Two sets of tight stairs to get up to the rooms.
Breakfast was good
The bathroom could do with a lick of paint
Cosy, convenient and clean
Parking was a challenge
Fantastic location and the room and food was amazing.
Love the location

Nice lunch. Friendly, helpful service. Good room, not too hot despite the heatwave. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Nice wash basin and a good user-friendly shower.
1. We had a double room but only one set of keys. I often return 2-3 hours after my wife, so not ideal. 2. We were told price included breakfast, which I assumed meant full English, but menu clearly stated that continental breakfast was included with room booking, so did not order anything other than cereal and toast for myself. On checkout, I was told that my wife's English breakfast was included with our room booking. Quite angry that the menu is utterly misleading and I could've had sausage, egg and black pudding. 3. My wife did order breakfast, but has a small appetite so listed all the things that she did not want. When her breakfast arrived, it was enormous, presumably in a mistaken effort to give us "value for money". In our view, this is utterly wasteful and not good value at all. It makes us both quite angry and upset. Please can you take disciplinary action against whichever staff member decided that someone ordering no sausage needs double helping of bacon. They have no place in catering in modern Britain where so many cannot afford tge food they need. I felt obliged to help her eat the food provided.
Our flight was delayed into Manchester so we were worried we would be too late to eat. The restaurant officially stops serving at 8:00pm but although we didn't arrive until 8:15, they were happy to serve us and we had a very enjoyable meal along with a decent pint of beer. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was enormous and perfectly cooked making the inclusive price we paid exceptional value. Throughout our stay, the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We would certainly book the Malthouse again.
Next time we stay, we will ask for a rear facing room. Ours overlooked the main road although, in truth, the traffic noise really wasn't that bad.
Beautiful location, fantastic space outdoors to have a drink, menu and food were faultless
Nothing
Location was ideal, staff were really friendly. Room was comfortable and clean.
Lock on door would not lock properly from outside but was fixed on last night
We arrived early, staff very friendly, had a cup of tea in the bar awaiting our friends. Checked in, room was very nice, staff were very friendly and it was a great experience. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent, very efficient staff and extremely helpful and friendly.
Nothing really, everything was as expected. A very nice stay.
Scenic location close to Calderdale way. Food was outstanding, especially the desserts! Lovely seating area out front.
Friendly staff, good food, nice size room and very clean.
Existing door closures require adjusting and doors on the stairwell could do with them fitting, inconsiderate guests just let the doors slam. My room was very light at dawn. Advise ear plugs and night mask, as with many other hotels.
Love this place, from the welcome from staff, comfy large rooms, great food, competitive prices, to the goodbye from the staff.
Breakfast was good
Nothing i can think of
What an exceptional find A bit off the main roads but well worth it Lovely quaint property Food was fab Best of all was how well they catered for the dogs
Nothing not to like But be aware to access the bedrooms there are a couple of steep flights of stairs
Great location, close to where we needed to be. Lovely room. Quiet and comfortable
The period property is warm, quirky and inviting

Good location. Nice sized room. Comfy bed and decorated well. Breakfast was very good.
Needed some additional seating in room. Step up to toilet in bathroom. Needs a paint refresh and clean behind the bedside tables.

Ideally situated - close to motorway, beautiful surroundings, food was exceptional, staff very lovely, comfy room - basic but had everything needed and very clean. I’ll be back again for sure.
Nothing
Ideal for our needs which was to meet up with some old friends for a birthday. The hotel was mid-point, clean, comfortable, friendly staff and good food. Dog friendly as well.
Having to say goodbye 😆
Excellent evening meal and Breakfast in our package Very friendly, lively personable staff. King size bed comfy Clean large fluffy towels. Great view from the bedroom, Great on site parking
Perhaps another shelf or unit in the bathroom A ladies mirror and chsir located together for hdir drying but only a minor niggle as enjoyed our stay

It was full of character.
It’s on quite a busy road.
The evening meal was lovely and waiting on staff were very attentive.
This was a birthday stay for mine and my husband, we bookend a king room to have a treat but we were given a double, which was very disappointing. The room was very dated and very hot as it was too noisy to have the windows open due to being on a main road and the windows only being single glazed, there was also no fan. The breakfast was ok but very salty and the coffee was weak and undrinkable
Nice pub out of Halifax, busy with drinkers and eaters. Evening meal was delicious and goid value. We stayed overnight in a large king sized room that came with a massive breakfast all for £75.
The Malthouse itself is absolutely beautiful, the food! Wow to die for. Even considering having a look at wedding packages. And the staff! Amazing
Great location good staff well balanced spacious areas inside and out easy parking
The info indicated no lifts to upper floors in fact no lifts at all. All rooms are up stairs. We requested low level room as partner has just had knee replaced ,I am sure this could easily mislead others. The staff were very obliging in assisting .
Building character. Spacious bedroom. Power shower. Plentiful English breakfast. Large car park.
Not the fault of the hotel, but loud inconsiderate guests talking loudly in the next room from 10pm-1:30am
A great find. Good location for our visit, very friendly staff lovely food and a lovely room with a great view. I would definatly come back if in the area again. They also loved our dog.
Car charger on site, was difficult to use, do didnt.
friendly and very helpful staff. Food excellent. Room immaculate. Beautiful location
nowhere in the room to work with laptop heavy fire door opening onto top of stairs
Venue and location
Rate not recognised. Poor communication with booking site
Nice big rooms
Electric shower is a bit weak
Excellent stay as always, thank you.

Pleasant helpful staff
The location was great. The breakfast could have been great but it was lukewarm. Day two I just ordered toast & it was fine.
The room was at the top of two very steep flights of stairs, which at my age I found difficult. Not their fault as I didn’t check this before arrival.
Lovely staff, great location for what i needed. rooms are lovely and the food is great breakfast was perfect
nothing at all.
Fantastic place, food, location and people all very good
Frühstück wird frisch zubereitet/ sehr sauber / gutes Essen im Restaurant
Great friendly staff in the bar of a night and at breakfast.
The shower could have been more powerful.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. The room as clean and comfortable Even a doggy gift

Such a charming place and warm welcome. We visited for a wedding me and my partner that was nearby stayed 2 nights, loved it. Welcoming, clean and cozy.
Lovely, cosy pub. Staff were great, food was excellent and a very comfortable nights stay.
Nothing!
The property was lovely and convenient. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. We love that they are so welcoming of dogs: they even gave us a little box with biscuits, a ball, and poo bags. The food in the pub was delicious, the staff were very friendly. We have absolutely nothing negative to say.
The staff coped admirably considering it was Christmas day and packed.
A younger member of staff maybe needs some extra training in hospitality. A smile goes a long way too.
Great food, lovely presented
Some locals swearing when we sat near them in the non dining bit,not the hotels fault
