It was quiet and after moving rooms it was great. Amazing views Great staff
You have to walk to sister hotel to use the pool which is a good 5 minute walk. Position in the town was good.
Excellent room
Poor service in the restaurant
The breakfast was great, so much choice and a charming courtyard overlooking a valley. The staff were great and always willing to do their utmost to help you.
No swimming pool on site
Incredible service, fantastic location, incredible sister Hotel Giordano, the pool was so peaceful with stunning views of the Ravello hills. It was our honeymoon & our room was upgraded. Breakfast was extensive, we were allowed to take away some extra items for lunch each day & enjoyed mimosa’s each morning, ultimately a fabulous honeymoon location, we will definitely return & we recommend to anyone travelling to Ravello.
Location, service/ friendly staff & cleanliness.
View was amazing! Enjoyed the patio off our room.
The location is spectacular! Lifetime view from the dinning areas over the hillside terrace off into the Mediterranean!! Easy stroll thru the cooble stone narrow enchanting streets to the exciting piazza full of music and laughter not to mention the wine and food.
First we didn't like that we had to go. The only issue was a wedding party that was up a bit late but heck that's life and its a perfect romantic spot.
Conforto e tamanho de acordo com o esperado
Beautiful location, stunning view, amazing breakfast, helpful staff, EVERYTHING
Nothing
Property is nice, just don’t book through Expedia. Expedia makes mistakes and you have to handle it yourself.
a beautiful property with a great view from dining room and terrace ( for restaurant); Wonderful breakfast selection with fresh produce from their expansive gardens.
room was small and in need of refreshing. room would get very stuffy while out, due to key operated AC/electricity power.
Great staff - extremely friendly and helpful. Great location - close to everything we wanted to be close to. Great restaurant - Francesco A was an especially fiendly and enthusiastic member of staff.
There were many noisy and disruptive wedding guests. 3 nights out of the 6 were disrupted by other guests snashing around, shouting, at 12-3 in the morning. The only other negative was that we had no coffee or milk in the room. We had instructions for how to use a coffee machine, but no coffee machine. And we had English breakfast tea, but no milk. So overall, no way to make any morning drinks.
Simply breathtaking! Incredible rooms and main areas, amazing food and THE VIEWS!! Looking forward to visiting again!
Great location, friendly staff, and good dining experience
Location
Rooms small
Wonderful place. Excellent breakfast. The views are outstanding
Beautiful covered dining with a gorgeous view! Great friendly staff, helpful front desk, excellent breakfast buffet! The room was clean and the Air Conditioning worked great.
There are a lot of steps in Ravello in general, if you want fewer steps and closer access to pool stay at their sister property, but I was very happy at Villa Maria!
Friendly staff. Hotel restaurant is really good.
Everything Perfect
This is an outstanding hotel that far exceeded expectations. We have stayed in Ravello and the Amalfi coast over the years in a variety of places from budget to 5 star (Palazzo Avino). Villa Maria is head and shoulders above the competition. The setting, view, ambience, restaurant and outstanding service from staff are all 10/10. We felt like we had "come home" from the moment we arrived, with such warmth and hospitality from all the staff. The menu and wine list are also outstanding, but they also have some less expensive items too, so you could have say a 4 course fine dining outstanding formal meal (with a fabulous wine list the size of a mediaeval bible) at over 100 euros each, or a caesar salad for 20 euros. We made the mistake one evening of dining at Palazzo Avino (having stayed there 15 years ago when it was Palazzo Sasso). We found that to be a distinctly underwhelming experience by comparison with its former self from the Palazzo Sasso era. Poor quality food masquerading as michelin-starred nouvelle cuisine, service was good but formulaic and without the warmth and charm of Villa Maria, and vastly overpriced.
I genuinely cannot fault this hotel. I suppose if I had to criticise I would say that when booking online I had not appreciated that the swimming pool was not actually at the hotel, but at the sister hotel Giordano which is a few minutes walk down a hill. If you are holidaying with children and want to be in and out of the pool all day then Giordano would be a better choice perhaps.
Great location, beautiful place and very clean with wonderful staff. We loved it
Location, presentation & good size rooms.
No pool but there was the pool in the nearby hotel.
It had great food! The room was nice. Close to the gardens.
Door allowed for noise to come through in the hallway.
Amazing location. Beautiful hotel. The staff were so attentive and everything was exceptional.
Great location, nice and large rooms, wonderful view, very good breakfast, convenient parking.
What an amazing place! I cannot recommend it highly enough. The information and pictures online did not do this place justice. The hotel is immaculate, the area is amazing, and the staff are out of this world helpful.
Beautiful location with absolutely amazing views, wonderful staff
Nothing, the walking was a lot up and down the mountain but the views and exercise made it worth it.
Everything!!
The Breakfast was exceptional! More than enough options both sweet and savory to satisfy even the most finicky palate. Beautiful baked goods almost looked too pretty to eat. ALMOST! The location, while up at the tippity top, provided views beyond. Walking up the unique medieval paths gave one a sense of awe every day. As well, an excuse to eat ( and eat) at all the incredible restaurants Ravello and Positano has to offer The garden setting was a pretty respite (daily moderate steps and hills) to take each day all in. Our villa space enjoyed a very large outdoor private area with incredible flowers to relax, reflect, and plan the next days activities each evening. Lastly the people. so kind and knowledgeable. They also secured our restaurant reservations ~ a must in high season on the Amalfi Coast!
The concierge service was lacking prior to arrival. I had contacted the property, and several key details were left out. The most impactful was information on how our luggage would be transported from the Taxi drop. For early risers (5:30AM) the security (?) seems annoyed he had to open the locked gates for my morning walk abouts.
Absolutely amazing hotel. Just very hard beds
We were married in Ravello 23 years ago and stayed and had our wedding breakfast in Villa Maria - so it was lovely to go back.
We did tell the reception staff about our wedding- it would have been nice to have had some recognition from the manager - but we didn’t get any
Villa Maria is a beautiful oasis in Ravello. Our family loved everything about our stay there. The rooms are well appointed, the food and views fantastic. Best of all the employees were truly wonderful. From the Maria-Grazie, Erika, Maria on the reception desk to Pepi and Nando in the restaurant and housekeeping (among many many others) we were extremely well taken care of. I just can’t say enough nice things about Villa Maria and the staff. And Lola the dog of course.
Breakfast limited choice
Walk to the hotel With cases
We enjoyed our stay! Highly recommended! Staff was very helpful and friendly!
We had been to Ravello 30 years ago and stayed at Villa Maria. Everything was top class and we enjoyed our return. We had a car which we parked at Hotel Giordano. We went to Villa Cimbrone, Capri, Pompei and Positano.
This place was A+ all the way. Our room was very spacious and very clean, the cleanest I have ever seen in all my travels. The staff was always very helpful and friendly, especially Margarite at the front desk - she helped us with all our questions and went over the top with providing us mass times for several different parishes in the area. Oh, the restaurant was also very incredible, with excellent attentiveness by the entire wait staff, and exquisite culinary dishes. You will not be disappointed with this Hotel!
nothing
Absolutely breathtaking property. From the hotel itself to the restaurant balcony. We felt like we were amongst the clouds build high up into the cliff. Wonderful staff and having the sister hotel for pool access was incredible.
Nothing.
Cleanliness
Great staff, beautiful views from our room and the restaurant. I’d recommend the cooking class with Chef Vincenzo.
Everything was great
The reception staff were amazing. Very helpful and accommodating. Super friedly.
Small room, cats everywhere and cat smell in hallways. Couldn't eat on open air terrace every morning was very disappointing.
We opted for a partial ocean view and booked $706/ night.Upon arrival we were escorted to basement suite with small courtyard. Same level as noisy housekeeping staff. Our room was never cleaned (housekeeping staff indicated they were very busy!!) had to ask for clean towels. Very disappointed.
Villa Maria is not only absolutely stunning, but they really go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Everyone was super polite and helpful. Please be advised that this hotel is towards the top of the hill. The porters will assist you with your luggage, but know you'll be walking up a good amount of steps daily as you explore the town. Overall, an incredible experience.
Great hotel with AMAZING views. Staff was very professional and helpful. Very clean property.
Wonderful stuff, great vibe. The best restaurant in town!
Pretty, home-like, comfortable
Great. Clean and decent size rooms. Staff were really good and looked after whatever we required. Parking was easy and that’s saying something on the Amalfi. Only stayed the one night but it was great and would stay again.
Nothing, it was great and exactly what we thought it would be, would have been nice if the hotel bar stayed open longer than as it’s a great spot for a drink after dinner.
A very fine hotel with a brilliant restaurants fabulous staff highly recommend
Delicious breakfast and location was excellent.
Nothing. Everything was perfect
Staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful and the room was very nice. The restaurant was lovely and the breakfasts were great.
The pool was a little too far away and by the time we made it back to Villa Maria, we were hot and sweaty after the climb back up. Having to pay additional money for the use of an iron, which is standard in most hotel rooms, seemed ridiculous to us and the laundry service seemed more expensive than we have seen in other 4-5 star hotels.
We are glad to visit Ravello. The atmosphere was great. The staff were professional , kind and helpful. The breakfast was relatively good.
The location of hotel was far from center of Ravello which could be challenging , especially for guest who might have difficulty in walking . The bus services to Amalfi and back was busy especially in Amalfi. We will recommend this property for guest who would like to relax in montainous countryside of South of Italy.
wonderful location and fabulous staff. so comfortable too.
Beautiful hotel, breathtaking views, and great family room
A touch expensive
We loved our stay. The Villa Maria met or exceeded expectations. Ideal setup because you have a holy sh&t view at the outdoor dining area for bfast and dinner, and the amazing pool at their sister property just down the road. For those looking for a great stay in Ravello but who don’t want to pay the prices of the Belmond or Avino, this is a great find. Aldo, the restaurant manager, is amazing…make sure to inquire about the hotel’s spectacular wine selection.
The staff could not have been any better. It was our first time in Ravello and they were so friendly and helpful.
The hotel is very charming. The breakfast was good. The bedroom seems to be a little old, but yet clean and comfortable.
It was a last minute reservation, so I have no complains about the hotel. We got there by car, these was a parking (charged separately), but it was not close to the hotel. But I understand this is a limitation because of the city geography.
The was very little space for lugging in the bedroom, I had to call reception to be put through to the kitchen to request teabags and cold milk to be sent to the room twice as there was an insufficient amount that we required.
Dinning room and the shower
No garden outside the restaurant area
Just enough and great staff and servers
Stunning location. Beautiful hotel decor. Exceptional service at the restaurant for dinner and lovely food.
For the price you pay for a room at the hotel I feel it was lacking in some minor detail. The tea and coffee services in room could have been better.
Beautiful area in which this hotel is nestled away in. Took a while to find it as it’s in a pedestrian only area but we enjoyed the sightseeing. Beautiful hotel with chandeliers in the main area and black and white checkered floors. Our room wasn’t as nice but we opted for the cheapest one, and received a free upgrade to the next room. Had dinner at the hotel with breathtaking views and breakfast included in the morning which you can order hot items for free if you ask. Overall ideal location close to shops, restaurants, the gardens and cathedrals! Had the most amazing gelato at a near by shop and of course some yummy wine at a local wine store! Make sure you visit the gardens as they're only a quick walk away! Definitely worth seeing and spending at least one night in this beautiful town!
Parking. We had a rental car and it took a very long time to find the hotel. We finally parked the car and walked until we made it there then had to move the car by driving through a pedestrian only area (which was scary on such narrow streets and so many people) to a garage at another hotel). They were nice enough to carry our luggage for us and meet us back at our hotel as lots of steps and more narrow streets to walk. There are lots of stray cats everywhere in this town. They don’t bother you though thank goodness
Amazing property, professionalism staff - courteous, knowledgeable, always willing to be of assistance. Rooms beautifully appointed. Can’t wait to come back for another stay!!
Lovely views. Service and food good in the restaurant. Communal areas very pleasant and nicely decorated.
Very basic bedroom. Bathroom lovely. The bedroom furniture was mismatched and old, scratched, worn, one item broken with numerous cup ring stains. I note in the reviews several people remarking about the furniture. The response from the hotel being that the furniture is antique. This so called antique furniture needs throwing out. Walls in places badly scratched. The room needed redecorating. Had to ask to be moved to a different room. This next room was fine, furniture still mismatched and one piece had seen better days. Bathroom excellent. If this hotel was cheap I would not have been so concerned but it is a considerable amount of money to stay. It seems such a shame that a lovely hotel lets itself down like this. A little thought from an interior designer would work wonders. Please also be aware there is a considerable walk up hill/steps from the car park. if you are very elderly or have health issues it may not be for you. There is also a supplement of 1€ if you want your eggs cooked any way but scrambled, which we found bizarre.
The view were amazing, the staff was accommodating. In one word - lovely! We will definitely return.
It would be hard to come up with something we didn’t like.
room was clean and tidy with a lovely view
tea and sugar provided but no coffee or milk
It was affordable.
Only access is from climbing/walking for a long distance. restaurant food was served cold.
Nice Hotel with a lovely terrace. The food was fair, but worth it for the view. Great to have parking available
Fine
Great location and pretty hotel with a great view. The cleaning staff would clean rooms near ours and play music and talk very loudly and it woke us up each morning. Other than that it was great.
Lovely views, walkable to town, great staff, very accommodating to help schedule activities, only wish I had a duvet vs very thin blanket and sheet. Rooms very much set in traditional Italian style.
great location and amazing views
not great value for money.. and everything there was extortionate… all services were extra! I’ve definitely stayed in better hotels for significantly less money!
