emplacement calme. Propre
Équipement vieux, Mauvais petit déjeuner. café horrible
Good place
The breakfast could have been a bit better
Our family of 12 stayed here for 5 nights, Jan. 5-10, 2025. We had cars so the location was quiet and peaceful for us, away from all the tourists in the main part of the city, but just a short drive to get souvenirs, pizzas, etc. The young man and woman at the front desk were very hospitable and helpful. They arranged a boat tour at the last minute and told us about a local place to wade in a creek and climb hills, that the kids really liked. We appreciated the Hosteria's common area, with its wide views of the lake, and played games there almost every night. If there's a criticism it would be the towels and bed linens are 'tired'! We had daily housekeeping and breakfast with fruit, lots of sweets, hard cooked eggs, toast n jam, jello, and several choices of beverages. Everyone found something they liked each morning! They even did some laundry for some of us for a reasonable cost. Overall, this place was a perfect place to call home for 5 nights while we did fun activities together in El Calafate!
The bed linens and towels could use replacements.
Very nice people, great breakfast choices, room and facility was very clean - very reasonable cost.
As
I did not like anything about this hotel.
Firstly, they have no credit card facility at the hotel to pay for your stay … they wanted to copy my credit card back and front and their “office in Buenos Aires” will put through the payment! Unbelievable … it’s like giving my PIN number to strangers so that they can empty my bank account from the ATM …..or buy as much as they like online using my credit card 3 digit code! I paid top dollar for a room at this hotel in season … average rate in January is $130 … I paid $215 per night … and then they charged me $1.50 every morning that I requested scrambled eggs! The hotel is at least 3 km from El Calafate town. I had dinner on the night I arrived … “lamb chops”. … turns out that there is no lamb chops … it was a lamb type of ragout … it was a tad tasty, but not what I expected … the menu said it was served with potato … there was no potato. The breakfast is basic and not good … fruit, cereal and cake/biscuits. I would not recommend this hotel … shocking for the price you pay. I would not recommend this hotel … the security of your money and the high price for a 2 star hotel is not acceptable
Lovely sunset view. Rooms quirky so more interesting than many. Water nearby and easily seen from hotel.
The view and location
The bathroom/shower had water standing. No complementary water. Old...
Nice View to the lake, good service. Not close to the town, need a taxi or rent a car. Breakfast not so good.
Very nice people, available to help at any time. Breakfast simple but ok. Have brown bread and fresh fruit. You can use their space for your own picknick. You feel very like home. Sleeping ; sometimes a little noisy , people, wind. Good bed. 96% blind outs. I liked waking after dinner to the hotel,, though a 6 min taxi available
It would be nice they had a couple of bikes to rent to get to downtiown.
The inn is way too far from the town center forcing you to either have a rental car or walk 40 minutes from the center to get to your hotel. The hotel is just not a practical option if you want to be immersed in El Calafate. The walk is also very dark and a bit rural, making me nervous to walk at night so far out from the town square. Also didn't appreciate that each room did not have its own conditioning/heater system. Our room was way too hot and was not able to be changed to our liking.
the location next to Lago Argentina
the food for dinner is limited and is bad. the breakfast spread is very limited l. the hote overcharges forget every single thing.
Awesome place and staff
As a familiar place, attention to customers should be developed. Room and environment are comfortable
It was a lovely space with a bread and breakfast feel! Very clean and everyone was super helpful
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good too and the surrounding scenery was good.
Hotel familial tres typique avec antiquites. Chambre tres propre.
I like this hotel because it has a beautiful lake view. Friendly and helpful staffs, nice location. If you want to go to central downtown for shopping or eating, you have to take a taxi.
Muy recomendable!
Nice and friendly. A Little out of the way, best to access by car. Great views of the lake. Very quiet.
The hostel was nice. The room was adequate for what we paid and had nice furnishings.the staff were nice and helpful as well. One thing that we were very disappointed about was that the hostel claimed it had WiFi but we never got it to work the entire time we stayed (3 nights). Also, I’m not sure if the people of Argentina are not big on breakfast but you may want to plan on getting breakfast elsewhere as the “breakfast” they offer is subpar at best.
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. It is a little out of the way but we knew that and enjoyed the view and the serenity. The staff were pleasant and very helpful with food allergies. The wifi was intermittent but when asked the staff seemed to be able to fix it. We really recommend the restaurant Mirabelle opposite the entry to the nature reserve.
Service 100% GOOD.
The people working at the hotel are great. They make you feel very special and they recomend and help in every thing you want to do during your stay in El Calafate. Great hotel with very personal touch
Staff very helpful and the room had good views to the nature reserve and lake. The breakfasts were very simple. Had one evening meal anf it was not so good.
Nice place, far from city center. Clean, a lot of space, would prefer harder mattresses.

Free WiFi was very slow and food was lackluster. Otherwise, clean and friendly staff. Location was great.
We stayed this hotel because it got good reviews, but somehow I missed that it was way out of town. Unless you have a car (or like to walk into town ~45min). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room (108) was spacious decor with antic looking furniture. Bathroom was nice and clean. Unfortunately this room is right above the main entrance. One hears the door banging or the bus which picks up guests for their booked excursions at 6am - beeping a couple of times. That was rather annoying! The breakfast had a good selection.
Plumbing failed, flooded the floor. Drain connection was not properly installed.
Pleasant and friendly staff, but the bathrooms can use a lot of help, very stale and smelly. Not the best housekeeping at all.
The hotel price was OK when we booked it; further, when we mentioned over the email that we were trying to book excursions to Glaciar Perito Moreno and Torres del Paine, they were quick to help us with that. They gave us two prices for the excursions they publicize in their website: one with credit card which was 10% higher, and a "cash" rate. We chose the cash rate. When we arrived, we paid the two excursions (Glacier Perito Moreno and Torres del Paine) and asked for a receipt; the owner told me that the cash rate did not include the 21% VAT so if I wanted a receipt, they were going to add that. I pointed out that this was never brought up in any of the emails we exchanged. Tax evasion is very high in Argentina, and it's especially higher in the tourist industry where many foreigners don't know any better or don't care. I insisted twice more about the receipts; they only appeared in my email after I threatened to file a complain with Argentina's tax authority (AFIP). The first excursion to Perito Moreno was fine, and we had a great day. The next one (to Torres del Paine) was a nightmare; the hotel staff did not know when they were picking us up in the morning but they told us to be ready at 7 to 7:15am (which we did). The next morning the bus showed up at 6am; we were obviously asleep and they left us. We spent the next three plus hours in two small taxis chasing the bus, which we almost missed. Poor to no coordination between hotel and tour operators; not recommended.
Stayed there to explore the National Park area. Hotell staff is very friendly and helpfull. They have free shuttle to the center of the town.
Me senti estafado.
Quite far out of town. Basic but very good price - same as hostel (£50 pn). Loud corridor. Lovely service.
Clean, decent sized room. Nice view from lakeside room, but remote location, long walk to town
I stayed for one night at the beginning of my trip and one night at the end. The hotel is 2 km from town with a shuttle that makes only two trips per day. There is not a airport shuttle other than the ones that service all hotels in the city. The hotel is near Laguna Nimez with some great opportunities to walk around and enjoy Lago Argentina. I stayed in several hotels in El Calafate and all were unimpressive. At check in I was told that on the following reservation I would be staying at another hotel. The other hotel was closer to the city so that was fine, I suppose. I think a 4.1 rating for this hotel is very high. I thought it was on par with 3 star hotels in the US.
Don't need to stay in the city. Best view is wideopened in front of the hotel.
I stayed at the Hosteria Meulen at the beginning and end of a fly fishing trip to Patagonia, I had booked a room with a double bed and upon my arrival I was taken to a room with 2 single beds. I showed the receptionist my booking and about 20 minutes later she called and moved me to a room with a double bed. So far, so good. The room was very comfortable and the staff was eager to please. The problem I have with this establishment was on my return. I ate dinner in their restaurant and the food was average at best. I wanted to give the waitress and cook a tip because I was the ONLY person eating in their establishment. I pulled a 20 dollar bill from my wallet and asked it to be exchanged to pesos, the hostess disappeared into the managers office and returned with 200 pesos! The current exchange rate is 14.76 pesos for each dollar but I would have been happy with 12 pesos to the dollar. So now the manager was up about 95 pesos for simply exchanging money! Once I ate dinner I tried paying with a 100 dollar bill because the waitress told me that they didn't take credit cards! Again the hostess disappeared into the manager's office. She returned with 1000 pesos! This time he shorted me 474 pesos. So for the night, the manager shorted me over 500 pesos for simply exchanging money! I was starting to understand why I was the only person in the restaurant! To say I was disgusted would be an understatement!
Fantastic and the town was so nice. Will return in the time of World Ski next July-August
We went to El Calafate back in 2012 for 3 few days and loved the place so much that we ended up extended our stay for almost a week...the staff in Hosteria Meulen was polite, friendly and very helpful. Roberto, the hotel manager was very knowledgeable and attentive, he gave us very good advice and help us booking tours and restaurants. Perito Moreno tour, and the full day boat trip around the glaciers are just amazing experiences Very pleasant experience overall
Ir was a 30 minute walk to centre of town & shuttle only goes twice daily. Very close to the wetlands. The internet was weak & slow. The woman owner was helpful, the others not so friendly.
I can't say enough about how helpful the staff was, especially the manager, who assisted us with pretty much everything from arranging our excursions to recommending restaurants in town in the most gracious way possible. The hotel itself is charmingly decorated and comfortable though it's a bit further from the main street than we expected. Since cabs are readily available and fairly inexpensive, this did not translate into a concern for us though, if proximity to town is a priority, it might be for others. We actually ended up really liking the location though. The views from the front deck are beautiful and it is very close to the Laguna Nimez reserve. The free breakfast has limited options though the hot croissant rolls they bring out are delicious. They also offer fairly good packed lunches for those leaving early on excursions. Since we were primarily in El Calafate to go on all-day tours of the surrounding areas, we did not spend a great deal of time around the hotel but the lounge is inviting and cozy and the entire lobby is fully of really cool antique pieces and decorations. Wi-Fi was not the best (though this might be true of a lot of places in El Calafate, not exclusive here).
Good rooms and nice building. Remote location too far to walk from town. No toilet paper in lobby bathroom seem endemic. Poorman's breakfast.
It took one hour to find it, you never would after dark. We stopped and asked 3 hotels for directions and no one had heard of it. Located on dirt road out of town where they are building 2 other hotels, I'm not sure why, our room overlooked the town dump and was 2 Kilometers from town.
This hotel was a very intimate hotel where the staff provided the best service ever experienced. Anything that they could do to make your stay easier they did. It was a little bit out of town but there was a shuttle if you didn't want to walk which came on time. I would stay there again simply for the service. The rooms were very cute with some beautiful pieces of furniture. Overall an excellent hotel.
The hospitality was excellent; the hotel is clean and has beautiful views. The staff was cordial and helpful.
Hotel was expensive for what it was. Long way from town, really cheap everything - towels, soap, breakfast. Felt like a very budget hotel but it's not priced like that. This website says that hot breakfast is provided. It is NOT. When I asked about this the staff just shrugged and said they had never provided hot breakfast. Hard to believe that there aren't better options...
I'd give the hotel a 3.5 if I could. It is located outside the city center which has perks and drawbacks. The scenery is beautiful, but the shuttle they advertise only runs from the hotel 2x a day and returns to the hotel 2x a day, so without a car, it's not an ideal situation. The hotel staff was very helpful in making reservations and helping to plan excursions. The had a lake room view which lived up to its name, but could also have been advertised as a "parking lot view" room. If you have a chance, ask for a second floor lake view room, I think they'd be better. The rooms were fine, nothing special. The bathrooms were pretty small a bit dark, but clean. Breakfast was good, croissants, ham, cheese, canned fruit, one kind of cereal, bread, assorted drinks, both hot and cold.
Very nice hotel with good breakfast but location was quite far from town. THey provided an infrequent shuttle which was fine but the short cut to town was through burr infested fields.
Nice small hotel run by a friendly staff. Superb view. 30 minutes walk from the El Calafate center. A few minutes walk from the lake.
The hotel was very nice, located in a beautiful area as it is Chacras de Coria. The only negative thing is that it did not have restaurant service and The closest place to buy something to eat was about 10 minutes walk. The staff was very helpful and warm and try to accomodate all our needs.
The hotel was a decent small size hotel. I have stayed with my family in the hotel. The room was kept clean and the front desk staff was very helpful. It is kind of far from the downtown area. 25A$ cab trip one way to the downtown area. the restaurent is pretty decent as well. good views. I would recomend anyone who needs be stay in budget with a good room i would recomend the hotel.
Family run hotel with a great staff service. Far from the downtown, but good experience to be in this kind of town.
I was surprised the warm reception that I had, the wonderful drink of welcome that they themselves prepare, while they were showing me over the map the principal tourist attractions of the zone. There is incredible the sight that they have of the Argentine Lake, the hotel was chosen specially because your sight, but it overcame widely the photography, it is located in a hill to a few minutes of the center of the village and in front of the Reservation of birds. Though one can be walking to the center (20-25 minutes), but the Hotel puts to disposition a service of shuttle, the distance is of approximately approximately 5 minutes. The landscape, its stillness, the contact with nature, makes it impossible to forget, ideal for a good rest. The breakfast is very complete. The cozy rooms are spacious with a great view, and very clean I enjoyment my demurrage in hosteria Meulen, specially for a lady like me, traveling alone. I have happened a few spectacular days in The Calafate. I feel like at home. I would like return to lodge undoubtedly
In a land of tiny dispersed lodgings, this one was the most remote. I t was like a tiny European pension, clean and friendly. The food was good. But, don't expect a short walk to town. On the plus side, the bird sanctuary is a short evening stroll away.
As I allready pointed the location is not satisfaying far away from center without any conection or transportation
Hotel is very clean and comfortable, and it faces Lake Argentina. Staffs are really nice and helpful! Half hour walking distance from central down town.
I arrived on schedule at El Calafate airport and was able to immediately get a shuttle bus that dropped many people off at their various accomodation. Although the venue is a little bit away from town, about 25 minutes walk I was greeted with friendly staff who offered a local tipple as a welcome and a look out over Lago Argentina confirmed the reason for me wanting to go there in the first place. If the phrase buena vista was created it was for the view I had over the lake towards the mountains. The accomodation itself is very clean with all the mod cons that you need at a reasonable price. The staff are very helpful too with organising trips and helping you with your Spanish! The downside for some folk will be the walk into town for a meal but if you are spending a couple of nights there before moving onto another part of Patagonia then I think it would be just the place.
Not realy friendly people servicing you.
I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an expereince close with the hotel, seemed like a bed and breakfast, the staff is so warm and helpful.
