The most amazing and friendly staff. The place is magical and attention to detail is wonderful.
Stayed at this property in and out for the past five years. Always been a great getaway. However, lack of attention to detail is prevalent. Not clean, exterior maintenance and interior maintenance lacking. Had a power outage for the entire weekend which pretty much ruined our stay. (Even though power outages are common these days, it goes without saying to try get a generator or UPS fitted for a luxury villa) We were compensated with a bottle of wine, and can see the staff were genuinely perplexed by the lack of resources. Room interior: mattress & pillows dated Fittings & fixtures loose TV from 1995 with outdated dstv (no smart tv) No WiFi AC units all rusted and noisy If you’re looking for a quick pop in it’s okay, but sadly not for a weekend getaway. Hope they fix it, as it’s one of the old favorites.
Beautiful upgraded rooms. Nice property. Only stayed 1 night. Would like to return for an extended stay.
The rooms here so unique , they're wonderful. Staff are so cheerful helpful and make you ferl at home. I cannot think of anywhere better to stay in port elizabeth
I was moved to another room as the room I was in had terrible internet. I was most grateful for that. The only negative was that the blinds are very tatty and need to be repaired or new ones installed. Otherwise happy with my stay
Food, service
A quiet location, suitable for couples. Would stay again! The bar was not the focus point of the hotel and was minimally stocked. Staff are very friendly, room was kept clean
I’m sorry to say this hotel fell short of everything you would expect. When we arrived the room we were allocated was dark and dirty. There was a chair in the corner was was stained and smelled gross. A small piece of paper on the bed advising the power wad going off at 10pm for 2.5 hours and a light provided. I went to the very friendly staff on reception and advised I would not be staying. They were apologetic and admitted some rooms need attention. I accepted a move of room and sincerely wish I had not. Although it was marginally better it still wasn’t clean. On return from our meal in a nearby restaurant by Uber as it isn’t safe to walk after 7pm as promised the power went out at 10pm. Our emergency light did not come on and the room was pitch black. We managed by chance to locate the security guard who helped us with the temporary light. We then discovered our door didn’t lock properly. The security guard then said don’t worry you can call if you need me or are worried. The phone didn’t work. I don’t like leaving a bad review but I have to be honest. Don’t waste your time here go to one of the bigger chain hotels nearby that are only a fraction more expensive.
Awesome rooms their beautiful staff is kind and friendly awesome place to stay right by the beach
Beautiful and luxurious property, interior design, garden, pool. Africa meets Frank Lloyd Wright.
Great amazing rooms. The space is to die for. The deco in the rooms , stunning. Breakfast however not a buffet, but they made pancakes when we asked even though not in menu. Great friendly staff
Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent service food and honesty bar.
The lodge is beautiful and in a quite place. I was not happy with our room, it did not have separate beds for the kids. the mattress they provided for the kids reeked of urine, eventually the whole room was affected by the smell. The toilet had no privacy (closed door). Their bedding had a damp like smell, not good at all for my sinuses.
We arrived there late and received a warm welcome. Over the 3 days the staff were always friendly and helpful. The suite was very spacious.
The staff are all incredibly welcoming and friendly. However, I was completely surprised to find, that during the inconvenience if loadshedding, this establishment is not fitted with a generator! To be honest I expect this as a min in South Africa where load shedding is a regular occurrence. There was a very strong smell of sewage emanating from the toilet! And the room was very dark (even with the lights on and during daylight). Overall, unfortunately, I found it just a bit shabby..
We loved our two nights so much we never left the lodge! Thank you to all the staff for making us feel at home, with all your kindness and attention.
Lovely 2 night stay with my teenage kids in an executive suite, more than enough space for all of us. The hotel staff went out of there way to accommodate us and even packed an early morning breakfast for us, 6:30am pickup. Will definitely be back
Absolutely wonderful
We stayed in Singa Lodge for the half Ironman in Port Elizabeth. The hotel was perfect, an oasis in the city. The staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. There were so many nice touches, especially the good bags for those racing on the morning of the race.
Stayed just one night, we liked the decoration and the atmosphere. The room was big enough for 2. Breakfast was good. Everything just how they describe. Good attention from the pp there.
Beautifully decorated and very spacious room with everything you need. Lovely garden. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The place was beautiful. The parking of the car outside however was not acceptable. More parking needs to be made available
Very quirky property, lots of Indonesian influences in the design, a bit unusual having the bath and shower in the bedroom.
Felt it a bit dated and tired. The staff were lovely and accommodating. The menu for dinner was very limited and food was average. The parking facilities are also very limited and there was no secure parking for us. Our room was clean but no privacy as you could see into the room with the blinds down, the outside lights also shone into the room which we felt was a bit annoying during the night.
You can tell this hotel was lovely about 10 years ago, and has been left to fall slowly into dis-repair. There was nothing unpleasant about our stay, other than the breakfast and gelatinous poached eggs. There are so many other lovely boutique hotels in South Africa, I would pass this one up and find another.
Lovely hotel with beautiful rooms! Great breakfast and accomodating staff :) Amazing value for money.
Very comfortable bed, good breakfast, parking was secure and early check-in was especially good after our overnight flights from the UK.
I stayed at Singa Lodge from the 19th- 22nd of May 17. We really enjoyed our stay, the breakfast was excellent and the staff was so friendly. We loved the honesty bar! Looking forward to be there again.
Well situated, lovely staff. Breakfast was excellent. Our room was very spacious and well fitted however Housekeeping could be jacked up - 2 bathroom lights not working and the water pressure at both basins was just a trickle. Shower and bathtub both had excellent pressure? Lovely garden, pool and honesty bar. We would stay there again.
Great little hotel with friendly staff. Room was very nicely yet uniquely decorated in African theme. Good position to the waterfront area although you probably still need to drive as Port Elizabeth is quite spread out.
We had one night in this hotel. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as amazing as the pictures looked. There was a power failure and we had to ask for more tealights as we only got a couple. We had an early start in the morning and despite requesting a take-out breakfast (which we had paid for) we had to wait whilst someone filled two bags with a can of pop, 2 pieces of fruit and a yogurt. We didn't try dinner or the in-house breakfast. Bed was comfortable, large shower. Clean.
We needed an overnight in Port Elizabeth prior to flying out at 6am. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Safe in the family room/suite didn't work. Overall good value for the money that we paid.
Nice friendly hotel and staff. a lot of small problems: wifi didn't work in room, no privacy in bathroom, sink and shower very slow to drain and funny smell in bathroom. Cockroach in the cupboard...I guess that's to be expected with the vegetation. Otherwise clean. It had more of a hostel vibe than hotel. Cooked breakfast was very nice. 1 nt was OK, close to the beach.
I was only there for a few hours only on a layover. But Singa Lodge seems like a really nice place. I really did enjoy my room with its large separate shower and deep soaking tub. The room was semi-private and spacious. The property seemed very secure with 24 hr on-site staffing. I was too tired to take in the dinner fare, but the menu selections seemed quite nice. I had to check out before breakfast but the staff prepared a breakfast bag to go that came in quite handy. I bet though that it was no where near as good as the hotel restaurant's full breakfast menu.
We had a lovely stay and loved the staff for their friendliness. The room was exceptional and we loved the bathroom area. Very tranquil and relaxing and the breakfast was lovely. We would stay here again in a heartbeat and have recommended it to friends already.
We will book this hotel again when we return to PE.
EXCELLENT lodge in Summerstrand about 1 block away from the beach..beautiful Africa decor. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Will recommend to anyone to stay here. Had an OUTSTANDING dinner here.....will definately see us again.
Staff went out of their way to accomodate us. Nice lodge in a quiet part of Zport Elizabeth.
it is a little gem. walking distance to the beach and a strip mall. the staff are all very nice and accommodating. Our room has two levels. Sitting area downstairs. The bed and a big bathtub and shower area on level two. The deco is simple but nice with local woodwork. if anything, the only critic i have is that Wifi doesn't work very well upstairs. But overall, a great experience.
Stayed there in May 2016. We are a family of 3. Very, very clean and very, very comfortable experience. Beautiful setting. Very quiet at night, although we realize we were there during the low season and there were few other guests. A ten minute walk to the beach and its Boardwalk. A 10 minute drive to the Casino and Boardwalk complex with several restaurants to choose from. We have been travelling for almost two months and found a very inexpensive laundry service only a few minutes away --- very welcomed.
Fantastic room but cold showers
I really wanted to love this place. You have your own private bungalows that are beautifully decorated and spacious. Our room also had a huge bathtub to sink into, which I always appreciate. However, the bathroom is entirely open with no doors anywhere. I usually don't mind an open shower or tub, but I have to draw the line with an open toilet. We all need a bit of privacy sometimes....
All good except not all TV channels were set-up correctly or not at all. Not an issue on this visit because of work commitments, but on another occasion it would be an issue.
This hotel is fantastic. The room was huge, clean and spacious, the whole complex was very nice and the service was unbelievable friendly. The breakfast was also amazing. Would recommend for everyone, no matter if couple, single or family. Would love to go back
The rooms are lovely and have lots of character. The staff were excellent, always smiling, firendly and very helpful. A couple of things could be improved upon, ie TV picture quality, in room safe access, and although my travel companions food was good mine wasn't cooked well and I couldn't eat it, although the staff handled the situation very well and offered alternatives etc. I would definitely stay there again.
Enjoyed the visit. I would have preferred a room whereby I wouldn't have to climb steps to the bedroom. Otherwise, the hotel and staff were excellent. And, the breakfast that was presented was excellent also. I will return in the future although will request a different type room.
I would highly recommend Singa Lodge. Staff were very professional, warm and helpful. The entire lodge feels like an escape to an exotic place. The lush garden with its unique swimming pool and mosaic fountain create a tranquil and private environment. The rooms are beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable and very spacious. This is luxury at its best. We will definitely be back.
Relaxing n very enjoyable
Reasonably ok with a total different experience
It was great. It was like we were in the wild yet very sofisticated
Feels really authentic Africa with beautiful units tastefully furnished set in gorgeous gardens you feel you are in a jungle setting not a city with all conveniences close by. Staff could not be more helpful and our large room was kept clean and comfortable Could not fault
It was the best hotel in our 3 weeks tour through SA. Perfect rooms, perfect food and wines, very friendly and competent staff. But not cheap.
