Was a last minute booking and location was excellent
The staff are very welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much for them. Beds are very comfortable, and eooms are lovely and clean with plenty of toiletries if needed. It is in the middle of town so close to amenities and the Abbey which is a lovely place to visit.
I do think with the prices of the rooms, breakfast should be included rather than an extra cost, but thats just my opinion
It’s age and the fact they really do lean into that with the decor.

it was our 2nd visit to the George & Pilgrim and we were lucky enough to get a great rate from booking.com. We love our visits to Glastonbury and the food and atmosphere at the hotel adds to the experience. The staff are very accomodating and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. We again were in the Monks Cell which was quite spooky last time but not presence was felt on this visit.
The evening meal was a little disappointing as some of the dishes were already sold out. Elderley or less agile visiters may struggle to climb the stairs and the floors in the building can be a lttle uneven. Given the age of the building it is to be expected though.

Historical pub in great location
Breakfast was basic.
I love this historical hotel, it’s stunning and a must to stay in when in Glastonbury
Wunderschönes uraltes Hotel mitten in Glastonbury
Uns hat alles gefallen
Atmosphere and great customer service service

* Check-in great. * Staff all really friendly & helpful. * The character of the building is almost alive, you can feel the history in it. * We dined & the food service was superb, good food & hot [ Which may sound obvious but So many places serve "Warm' food]. * Our suite - N0 7 Abbot Whiting room was perfect, looking out onto the high st & we loved the touch of the radio with Classic FM on as we entered, it really made a difference not entering a silent room somehow, & lovely welcome note handwritten by the staff.
* Our shower Head did not work as was blocked, No drama we unscrewed it and had a "Hose pipe" shower , The staff would not of known about this unless told so we left a note detailing it on our departure. * Someone bumped our car parked in the council car park at the rear leaving us with a nice bill to get a dent in the rear addressed, [ Nothing to do with hotel we know].

We had the Henry VIII Room which was very nice. We loved the Location. Breakfast is average but it was alright given that we were there only one night.
Such a unique hotel, full of olde school charm and character. The facilities were great and the staff were super friendly
I loved it. A really unique stay. Loved being in such a historical buildings. Bit disappointed we didn’t witness any hauntings.
Lovely old pub in the centre of Glastonbury with history
We stayed in a top floor room and it was suuuuuuper hot in summer. No air conditioning, of course, and fans were provided, but windows barely open (they don't open more than 10 cm due to safety locks) so it was not possible to get the cool night air in. I think that they should have at least a better ventilation system put in if they are to be rented out in July/August
Loved the history and original features.
Rooms and furniture are a little tired.
Incredible location, one of the most historical buildings you could stay at. It was walking distance from everywhere, we didn't use any other form of transport other than walking. Was super convenient and the pub below is wonderful.

Very good breakfast, nice and quiet. Plenty of choice in the bar. Best thing by far were the staff! Lovely staff, friendly and helpful.
Great staff at bar. Room very clean. Wonderful historic building.
Palazzo storico magnifico, molto caratteristico. Personale gentile
I liked the size of the room and the character of the building. The bed was comfy and I slept well.
I really didnt like the communal doors along the passageways crashing shut and making a lot of loud bangs during the night when trying to get to sleep. The sound proofing of the rooms from the communal areas is very poor. I had to put pillows around my door in the end to try and soften the noises from other guests and staff who without knowing were crashing and banging every time they passed my room.

Location, comfortable clean room. Well Kept. Friendly staff .
Pricey, narrow stairs, no elevator.
The staff - very helpful and courteous. The room was comfortable and spotless. Our food in the restaurant for both our evening meal, and the following morning breakfast, was very good. A fan was provided and already set up in our room on our arrival, on what was a very hot day! Overall it was a lovely short stay in an old historical hotel with lots of character.
The shower head was cracked and caused a leak. This was reported to reception so hopefully would have got fixed. As old rooms, there was no air-conditioning, and during the heatwave the room was exceptionally hot. The fan helped and was a nice touch, but aircon would have been even better! Overall, we had a great stay and this would not put us off visiting again in the future.
Ein altehrwürdiges Gebäude. Die Zimmer sind entsprechend eingerichtet. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Himmelbett. Das Personal war super freundlich. Ein insgesamt tolles Erlebnis dort zu nächtigen.
This property is perfectly situated to explore Glastonbury. It is so old and atmospheric - if walls could talk… 🤔
The restaurant seemed grubby (yes, I know it’s old, but sticky tables and tired-looking menus were disappointing). I think they’re relying on the history of the place but not paying too much attention to the small stuff which actually makes a difference.
For over ten years, whenever I visit Glastonbury, I stay only at this hotel.
It befits this legendary, historic city. It is very cozy and clean, with a soft bed and a fantastic atmosphere—captivating in its quietude and magical aroma. A great selection of shower gels and body washes in the bathroom—the scent is divine! I love it. Delicious dinner and breakfast. The staff were very welcoming.
Staff were very helpful could.not be more helpful nothing to much trouble very happy
Very hot in bedroom but fan supplied and stairs were the biggest problem both our leg's are not the best for climbing stairs but we understand the building is very old
Run down and moldy.
Incompetent staff. Greasy smells. Black mold in the rooms.
Historic, old and quirky
Not suitable for disabled and needs some updating for today’s weather. Air conditioning or a bars outside the windows instead of window restrictors.
The History of the Hotel & all it's historical & period features. Everything is in keeping with that- its furniture & decor. Staff are friendly, helpful, kind & attentive. Breakfast is amazing. Step outside the front door & your right in the heart of the town. Step out of yhe back door & there's a car park right there. So many places to visit so close by-Chalice Well. The Tor,The Healing Pools, Wells Cathedral.
Having to leave this lovely Hotel & beautiful, mystical Glastonbury town. 😞 We will be back again for sure.

A black hole with no sofas or easy chairs,. Fishy smell greets you on entry. All comfort sacrificed to ' character ' Stone winding staircase with peeling scabby walls, age 77 I was put on top floor Room 12 is cramped with peeling window sill, carpark view, cold tap runs hot, shower head small, no air con in heatwave, I looked in room 11, a much better single yet I paid same. Were they lying ? I was told everyone pays the same ?? This when my booking changed from a double and no price adjustment. Price today I see is £200 !! No proper sit out or garden Breakfast no herbal teas or Earl Gray, no rolls, yogurt appeared day 3, No soya milk alternative, Fruit was uncut grapefruit.
Location, water pressure in the shower, plenty of milk available in the room,
Not being able to sleep until gone 11, both nights, due to bands playing in the bar. This should be flagged by the hotel on their description so people who like to sleep early can avoid it. The reproduction furniture, decorating, and especially the carpets and valances, need updating as the room felt grubby despite probably being clean (the bathroom was clean enough)
Imádtuk Egy időutazás volt
35 fokra nem voltak felkeszülve... (egyébként jogosan) Nagyon meleg volt a szoba
Well of course I loved the history, although I think more could be made of this. I've seen other historic places that give guests more of a history of the building and its environs over the centuries. The staff are always pleasant and friendly at the George.
My main complaint is about the fact that I was not informed that the music in the bar would be playing (a) till almost 11pm and (b) that it would be so loud - they were just playing soft ballady music when I checked in around 6pm. My room was on the first floor right above the bar. I arrived exhausted and had specifically chosen the George because it doesn't play sports tv. I came down to complain around 10.30pm. From around 9.45 the music seemed to get louder than ever. After that I couldn't sleep because I was upset by the music and no effort had been made to cool the room down. This was post heatwave and I feel more effort could have been made to make the room sleepable in - eg an extra fan, close curtains, air room etc. I had been so looking forward to staying at the George: it was a treat I'd given to myself, but it ended up a nightmare instead. : (( I was a wreck the next day.
Centre of town
Room was tired, extremely hot and a pathetic fan. Toilet seat had chips in it and just generally a very tired depressing room.
Location. Reception staff were good and housekeeping cleaned the room as well as possible.
The state of repair of the place was a disgrace. Even the pub sign has given up in shame and disappeared. Hideously overpriced for what it is.
We stayed for one night in the twin room. It was absolutely boiling in The Monks Cell so we had three fans going all night. The room was fine and the bathroom lovely. The staff were great. I was awake until 430am listening to lots of bangs, and scraping sounds 😳🫣 Apparently we were in Room one which is the most haunted of all the rooms. Scary!!
The bar and dining areas
The bedroom was very tired and dated
Apenas boa localização.
O quarto cheirava a mofo e estava abafado, janela em mau estado, soalho idem. Num dos pequenos-almoços não havia ingredientes.
falta de ar condicionado
Amazing building bang in the centre of Glastonbury. Large, reasonably priced, public car park right next door.
Original, authentic, atmospheric, clean. Alun manager great host and his staff lovely. Many thanks to Scatty (Vera) front of house who arranged breakfast of our choosing daily. Veronica the cleaning lady, and all rest of the staff who were so helpful, especially taking suitcases up/ down the Original spiral staircase - obviously no lift in 1475 building! Pillows firm as we liked them, nice toiletries, towels, hairdryer, iron n board + large umbrella, coffee/tea making facilities, bottled water and most importantly FANS! PHEW! G&P cannot be bettered for its easy access to the whole of Glastonbury Village. An easy accessible street to all the wonderful magical passages. We definitely will return after its 12wk refurbishment beginning September 2026. Glastonbury has its own totally unique atmosphere and in the G&P we experienced several ghostly happenings 😯. THANK YOU ALUN N STAFF FOR A WONDERFUL 3 DAYS 😍
We have stayed here before so know what to expect. Beautiful big room ( number 3), comfy bed , good food and great location. On our 2nd night a massive storm hit and flooded the high street. Most businesses including the George & Pilgrim were flooded. Despite this, the staff worked tirelessly, sweeping out the water and trying to get the power back on, absolute troopers! They all deserve a pay rise!
The bar closed around 9pm on our first night , which was a disappointment, but apart from that, there was nothing to complain about. Oh , maybe change the pillows, they’re way too hard!
Location came for the summer solstice Had dinner and was impressed by the standard of food, chicken pot pie and sea bass cooked very well. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Room and bathroom needs refurbishing, room price expensive but was the summer solstice.
Summer Solstice at The George & Pilgrims - what more can I say? Perfect, simply perfect
Excellent hospitality, excellent housekeeping, excellent cleanliness, excellent energy and atmosphere. In the centre of town in one of the oldest buildings steeped in history. I have stayed here a few times now and every time is so good. I love takiing my friends and family to the George and Pilgrim.
One night wasn't enough, so we're heading back next week! Great room, great staff, good food and epic history
The bed was a bit hard, but that really didn't overly bother us.
A lovely old hotel with a beautiful, clean and uncluttered room
Location was perfect, rooms were spacious and clean and the staff were exceptionally definitely the best pub we’ve stayed at and I highly recommend it to everyone
Nothing
Was very happy with room had nice corrector liked it very much and breakfast was very good and the staff are friendly loved the stay will be back again have been 3 times so far thanks for the great service
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The hotel was stunning . A 15 th century building with huge atmosphere and lovely comfortable rooms . Very welcoming to cyclists
Good position with paid parking available at the back of hotel
Nothing to dislike
Being told to go to bed......it was closing time but Being told we had to go to bed was a little harsh. Could have been handled differently
Polite comfortable excellent location Thank you
Quirky building and room, but actually worked really well as room (four poster) just fitted the whole historic vibe of the town and exterior of the hotel , spotlessly clean, and bathroom and room itself had everything we wanted. If you are expecting a Premier Inn, this isnt for you - it creaks, its old, but thats the charm and an amazing location in the centre of Glastonbury with car park right behind. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good and nice to have a relaxed late checkout at 11am.
Not sure we would revisit Glastonbury itself - location suited us as visiting places around, but the town centre and shops are very very alternative and not sure much to do, other than the Abbey right opposite the hotel, which is a little oasis.
Very good staff friendly room was great
An historic property preserved to reflect the history, eccentricity, and unique charm of Glastonbury. A super excellent staff team and breakfast!
Nothing!
The building was beautiful, the staff were lovely, very helpful and pleasant. Bed was very comfortable with very good bedding. Shower was excellent and we were pleased that there was also a bath. Liked the extra touches such as the tasty biscuits on the tea/coffee tray and the bottled water. Also in the bathroom the good quality hand-wash and hand cream on the pedestal basin and the same shower/bath gel, shampoo and separate hair conditioner on the bath. The location was very convenient to the main street, shops, eating places etc. etc. and the parking was very close to the back of the hotel and easy to pay online at a reasonable cost. We also enjoyed the bar meals we ate there, which were served very quickly.
However, there were a couple of niggles in our room (10) no towel rail in the bathroom and nowhere to put wash bags. The striplight above the bathroom mirror would not turn off despite there being a little pull cord and a switch on it which was unpleasant as it dazzled when putting on make up and doing hair Also black marks on the toilet seat where paint had worn off. We could also mention peeling paintwork on the windows which were also difficult to pull up and down, and ugly pipework in the bathroom and also in the bar, but we do realise it is an extremely old building which imust have been difficult to modernise. However, we were told that it is going to have a makeover soon which, whilst probably now needed in some areas, we do hope won't alter the character as it is such a beautiful old building. It is probably a very good thing that it is a listed.
Breakfast, no yogurt, no fresh fruit but cooked breakfast good
For the cost of the stay the decoration could do with a freshen up.
Comfortable with character.
Bar is a bit noisy .
This was such a cool historic place to stay! And the staff was great!
A. A very enjoyable staff and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming
The three women who worked at this hotel were brilliant, they were the only things that are worth mentioning
The place is badly maintained and has a very dangerous stair rail. The place was filthy, tables had not been washed or cleaned properly in years. The food was tasteless. The room was small and the bed was so uncomfortable the pillows were so hard and not giving at all. This is seriously the worst hotel I have had the misfortune to stay in. We were booked for 3 nights but checked out after one. The hotel has refused to reimburse which is their choice but I think what was advertised and what was provided were two very different things.
Waren voll und ganz zufrieden, sehr nettes Personal
Fantastic food - worth having dinner. Car park out the back so convenient. Very close to everything and lovely staff. We stayed in the Henry the 8th room with 4 poster bed - very comfy!
The lady from the Swan in Wells was helpful slow service in the bar requested a glass of water gave up waiting for it !!
Grubby room, bedroom floor carpet dirty, grubby staircase and corridors.
The hotel is so old but still has some amazing features really enjoyed our stay there the staff were friendly and accomodating will definitely be back the
The only thing I can honestly say is that we couldn't open the windows and the radiators weren't on but the room was really warm for some reason there are a lot off little things that are wrong with the building but it is well over 550 years old and a grade 1 listed building so they really can't do anything about them it is still a beautiful building
Staff were lovely and friendly good location close to everything would recommend and would stay again
Good central location with a council car park immediately behind. The bed was comfortable and the staff were pleasant.
It was all a bit tatty. It could do with a good redecoration.
It was quite loud but was a Friday night...We did gt a ticket in the car pack as we thought it was allowed until 9:30 am but it must have been 9...but overall super.
Historic property in a fabulous location and a beautiful room that came with a ghost! And the pub was a cozy spot for a pint and bite to eat
Getting the luggage up the stairs but that can’t be helped in a centuries old building
Vriendelijk personeel en de ligging.
Slecht onderhoud. Vergane glorie. Prijs.
Posizione centralissima non capita spesso di soggiornare in una struttura del 1400 ! Per cui va benissimo anche il pavimento in discesa con tutto il legno a vista ! Emozionante ! Staff gentilissimo e cooperativo ! Ottima cena ! Cane bene accettato
Letto un po piccolo
Fascinating ancient building in the centre of the town. Four poster bed in very large room was fabulous. Bathroom with bath also. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
The restaurant seating was a bit regimented and, in the lovely ancient part, rather crowded. The food was a little disappointing - roast potatoes hard and carrots under- cooked.
It was amazing the bed was really comfy everything was really clean beautiful decor lovely little restaurant really good stuff.
The only drawback is that we had a pram that was difficult to carry up to the top floor but other than that was amazing.
Beautiful place, Friendly staff The ghosts
The warmth, incredibly hot even with 2 fans!
Hermoso el hotel, las personas el restaurante , y la ubicacion perfecta
Having been here twice now I can honestly say its amazing. The architecture, the age of the building is superb. The rooms are very nicely furnished with some lovely period pieces and a lovely 4 poster bed. Allegedly our room was haunted but unfortunately didn't see any ghosts . A nice tea and coffee selection and a very clean bathroom. We didn't get to try the food on this occasion so I cannot comment on that. If you love history then I highly recommend this hotel.👍
I have stayed at this hotel before in one of their show rooms, but this time we were in the "rear extension" which was basically a box room at the back of the hotel which are smaller, no aircon, no four poster bed, a very basic hotel room with the saving grace being a great shower... The bed was fine, the view was of the car park and the breakfast was great.

Walked in for lunch. Not busy.Staff attentive and anxious to please.Inn is very quirky, huge beams, stone floors.Drinks came very quickly .Food longish wait which given it wasn't busy was odd.Lots of banging and crashing in the background..maybe moving kegs.Food arrived...my meal was beyond disappointing and not cheap.Lettuce used in salad was ,it seemed days old, other ingredients underwhelming..being honest it all should have gone into the recycling bin.Chips ,my companion had were ok.Would not reccomend for food on this basis.
I love the central location, with large, convenient car parking just behind. I stay there every time I visit Glastonbury. Staff are also really lovely, friendly and helpful.
I want to begin by saying how much we love this hotel. However, I am raising this complaint, following our recent stay because we have not received any response to a previous email. We are returning yearly customers and have always enjoyed our visits, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. During our stay, 2 out of 3 breakfasts were extremely poor. On multiple occasions, items were missing from the full English breakfast. While we understand that shortages can happen, we were not informed in advance and were simply served noticeably smaller meals without explanation. However, the most serious concern relates to the smoked salmon served at breakfast. Two members of our party suffered severe food poisoning after consuming this. The salmon appeared discoloured, with parts having turned a dull grey, and it tasted excessively salty to the point that the muffin it was served on was inedible. This has had a significant impact. Four weeks later, we are still experiencing the effects of this illness, and it has resulted in a substantial loss of earnings due to time taken off work. Given the severity of this situation, particularly the food safety concerns, l would appreciate this matter being investigated as a priority. I am very disappointed that our initial email was not acknowledged, and I hope this message will now be taken seriously. I would very much welcome your response.
Good central location
Suite was on the first floor of the hotel and there was a live band playing downstairs on the Friday night until 11:10 pm. They had just as well been playing in the room. Breakfast was poor, when we asked for no black pudding we could hear the chef shout 'what no black pudding' on both days we had breakfast. Guests seemed to be treated as second class to patrons for the street. We had terrible filter coffee, whereas there were offered the latte, flat white range and the waiter was much more attentive. The continental breakfast range consisted of a couple of apples, a couple of bananas and cereal.
Location, history
The staff were really friendly and helpful. Location was excellent, at the very heart of the town with convenient pay and display parking right behind. Loved the historic building! And it is dog friendly.
The food was average, more a pub menu than a hotel. The breakfast was hearty but did not like the fact the room was being cleaned while we ate.
Quirky with loads of history
Loved it all
Central location, car park available yards from the hotel. Very helpful and friendly staff.
