Buttermilk Lodge

Everything was just exceptional! We had a one bedroom and it was much larger than we anticipated. We were welcomed with delicious home baked breads, and basically all the necessities+ more for our short stay. The bed was comfortable, the space was very clean and well organized. And it was just a short walk to town center.

Perfect location - accessible to town and touring but quiet and tucked away just enough. The apartment was extremely well equipped with every comfort and convenience we could think of.

A wonderful surprise – we couldn't have been happier with our stay We ended up at Buttermilk Lodge rather unexpectedly after another accommodation cancelled our booking on the day of arrival due to an apparent double booking. In the end, we couldn't have been happier with where we ended up. The apartment was very spacious, spotlessly clean and equipped with everything we needed for cooking and a comfortable stay. The kitchen has a gas hob, dishwasher and microwave, and there is also a very modern washing machine with a dryer function. We especially appreciated all the thoughtful extras provided by the hosts. There was coffee, tea, butter, milk, jam and juice, as well as useful basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper and vinegar, along with several other little touches that made us feel very welcome. There were plenty of towels, including extra towels for the beach – although unfortunately the weather didn't give us much opportunity to use them! There is free parking directly outside, and the town centre is easy to reach on foot, with lots of shops, restaurants and other amenities nearby. Check-in via the key box was very straightforward. The accommodation was also very quiet, and we didn't notice any of the other guests during our stay. Another thing worth highlighting is how beautifully and thoughtfully the apartment is furnished. It has much more character and attention to detail than the rather impersonal interiors you often find in holiday accommodation and genuinely feels like a place where some care has gone into making guests feel at home. Communication with one of the hosts was also very pleasant and friendly throughout. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily return to Buttermilk Lodge at any time. What started as a stressful last-minute change of plans turned out to be a very lucky one.

Très bel appartement d'où on peut se rendre facilement à pied à Clifden et bien situé pour visiter le Connemara. Il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour préparer les petits déjeuners: thé, café, céréales, jus de fruits, lait, un pain et un cake faits maison. Une belle étape !

Rien, tout est très bien

Sehr schön ausgestattete Ferienwohnung, in der wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt haben. Für ein selbst zubereitetes Frühstück war alles vorhanden, was sehr entspannt war. Die Wohnung ist sehr gut gelegen, nur wenige Minuten vom sehr hübschen Zentrum von Clifden entfernt.

Patrick and Cathriona are amazing hosts. The communication was smooth, the instructions about the apartment were very clear, and you could find everything that you would possibly need. We also found a lot of useful guides and information about the surroundings in the living room, which turned out to be extremely useful. The welcome baskets they left for us was a much appreciated plus! The house is a few footsteps from the town centre and conveniently located on the N59. Definitely recommended, and we would definitely book again should we come back.

Very comfortable and clean in a great location. Delicious homemade brown bread and cake on arrival. Every detail thought of to make our stay comfortable. Huge comfy bed, huge fluffy white towels, fan which was very welcome during the heatwave, refreshments.

In der Buttermilk Lodge zu übernachten, ist ganz besonders. Zum Empfang gab es selbst gebackenes Brot und Früchtekuchen, im Kühlschrank war Milch, Saft, Butter, Marmelade, auch Kaffee, Tee, Müsli waren vorhanden. Alles ist schön eingerichtet, sauber, mit einem sehr großen, bequemen Bett. Cathriona und Pat sind sehr reizende Gastgeber. Cathriona hat uns sogar mit zu ihren Ponies genommen und alle gezeigt. Die Lage ist auch super, etwas außerhalb vom durchaus lebhaften Clifden, aber zu Fuß ist alles gut zu erreichen. Wir hatten fantastisches Wetter und ich möchte hier noch erwähnen, dass es sogar Handtücher für den Strand im Apartment gab. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können uns vorstellen, auch eine längere Zeit in der Buttermilk Lodge zu verbringen.

Perfekte Lage, Stadtzentrum zu Fuß in 5 min erreichbar und trotzdem sehr ruhig, sehr sauber, Küche bestens ausgestattet, es fehlte nichts! Gastgeber wohnen im Haus, sind immer erreichbar und sehr freundlich.

We loved the flat and all the equipment. Patrick and Cathriona did all to make this place welcoming. Lot of stuffs to facilitate our arrival (food for breakfast with homemade cakes, washing products fort dishwasher, ...). We had a beautiful journey in Clifden ! Note that the flat is really close to the town center.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, bright, spacious and so well equipped - there was nothing the owners have not thought of. The kitchen looks very newly fitted, all new pots and pans etc - and a very generous supply of breakfast provisions. The bed was very comfortable, there are plenty of soft towels (even a couple of beach towels) and a very efficient shower. Location was good, just a 6 minute walk into town.

Le lodge est parfaitemment adapté pour faire la cuisine. Le propriétaire pré rempli le réfrigérateur de produits pour le petit déjeuner . (jus d'orange, café, thé, lait,...)

We stayed in Derrylea apartment for 5 nights and it was perfect for our needs. Great location close to the town. The facilities are excellent and thanks to Pat and Cathriona for the little extras to enhance a self catering holiday in a very beautiful part of Ireland.

Sehr schöne Wohnung mit Liebe zum Detail. In der Wohnung gab es zur Begrüßung verschiedene Lebensmittel wie Milch. O-Saft, Butter, Kuchen, Müsli usw. Die Nähe zur Stadt und Pubs war optimal, da alles in ein paar Minuten zu Fuß erreicht wurde.

Die Qualität des Wassers durch den Torfboden in der Umgebung war nichts so gut. Aber Wasser konnte man zum Kochen günstig einkaufen. Aldi und Lidl ganz in der Nähe.

Un appartement vraiment très bien pensé, où il ne manque absolument rien ! On a été agréablement surpris par la qualité des équipements et l’attention portée aux détails. La place de parking pour nos motos, un petit extérieur. la ville est accessible à pied en quelques minutes. Si vous regardez cette annonce, n’hésitez pas à réserver : c’est une véritable pépite ! Et en cas de question ou de demande particulière, les propriétaires sont très réactifs et à l’écoute. On recommande vivement ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐une bonne surprise vous attend dans l’appartement 😋

Lovely apartment, well designed and laid out. Lots of ‘extras’ - milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, cereals etc. more than we expected. Very covenient five minute walk to the town centre.

Beautiful appartment with everything in it including milk, coffe,juice, bread, biscuits and more. Extreemely clean, silent, away from the town but 10-15 minutes away.

It was rain and going to the bus and back to the Buttermilk lodge made us wet.

Obwohl wir die Gastgeber nie persönlich getroffen haben, fühlten wir uns sehr gut aufgenommen. Das bereitgestellte Frühstück (feines selbstebackenes Brot, Flocken, Milch, Kaffee) reichte locker für 3 Tage. Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig (wir waren nur zu zweit) und nahe dem Zentrum, alles sehr sauber, Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus. Sehr empfehlenswert.

The best equipped self-catering accommodation I’ve ever stayed in. Comfortable bed, fantastic shower. Homemade bread & cake along with milk, juice, butter & jam waiting for us in the kitchen. Few minutes walk to Clifden town centre. Great base for touring, we hiked Diamond Hill & Errisbeg at Roundstone, swam at Glassilaun beach & Gurteen beach, all less than half an hours drive. 100% recommend Buttermilk Lodge!

Great location, all facilities were there. Very friendly hosts and a very quiet neighbourhood. Private parking at the stay. Definitely exceeded our expectations. If we will come back, we would definitely stay there again!

Lovely location easy to walk to Clifden. Lots of space and the kitchen was very well equipped. Very clean and the staff were excellent and recommended some great pubs for music.

The fireplace which we were under the assumption is a real fireplace but wasn't according to the pictures listed. Would have been good to have a few board games at the property too.

Prenotato quasi per caso, perché la nostra prima scelta non era più disponibile, decisamente una botta di fortuna! Appartamento carinissimo, con tutto quello che può servire (macchinetta del caffè, bollitore, tostapane, ecc...), prese USB in camera da letto così che non servano adattatori per caricare i telefoni, in una zona decisamente tranquilla, ottimo punto di partenza se si vuole girare la zona, sia a piedi (Clifden merita davvero tantissimo), sia come base per spostamenti più lunghi. Facilissimo da trovare e, oltre a tutto il necessario per la colazione, Cathriona e Pat ci hanno fatto trovare del pane tipico locale fatto a mano davvero ottimo. Dovessimo tornare in Irlanda passeremo sicuramente di nuovo! Consigliatissimo. PS: c'era persino una scatola con ago e filo, idea geniale che é anche tornata utile per una riparazione lampo!

Ein sehr gut ausgestattetes Appartement mit Wohnküche, Schlafzimmer und Bad in einem gemütlichen Haus.Ruhig gelegen am Stadtrand von Clifden, mit Parkplatz und Garten.Von dort ist man sehr schnell an vielen der schönen Orte Connemaras, zum Beispiel der Sky Road, direkt um die Ecke. Liebevolle Details,viele Extras , zum Beispiel selbstgebackemer Kuchen lag bereit! Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier einkehren!

Exceptionally high standard of guest accommodation, absolute comfort, attention to every detail, comfortable furniture, spacious rooms, beautiful furnishings, artwork, small details that received very careful attention. I have travelled in over 30 countries, have stayed in many B&Bs and occasionally in 5-star hotels, but never found a place that equalled the careful thought that has been put into the accommodation at Buttermilk Lodge in Clifden. We will certainly return and we have taken the business cards provided to share with all our friends. Having a private lounge/kitchen in addition to ensuite bedroom was wonderful, with large TV in both rooms. Our hostess, Catriona, had left very welcome food in the frig -including orange juice, milk, plenty of butter, jam and marmalade - and we greatly appreicated her home-made brown bread and fruitcake - which was really thoughtful and generous. The fact that Buttermilk Lodge provides conditions for self catering in a private lounge with fully equipped kitchen, made our stay less expensive than if we were eating out every day. This accommodation is very conveniently located to Clifden town and access to all the wonders of the Connemara landscape and coastal resorts.

Great location for driving the coast, short walk into town, home from home, everything is provided in apartment. I liked the welcome pack of milk,water,orange juice and homemade bread and fruit cake, both delicious. Easy communication with owners, both pleasant and helpful.

The bed was a little hard for us but that’s personal preference

The B&B was a little apartment, equipped with absolutely everything needed for a short stay. It was perfectly organized, a fresh brown bread and a fruit cake made by the owner was a nice surprise on arrival. Very good location, you can walk to the town, at the same time local attractions like Sky Road Loop or Kylemore Abbey are easy to reach by car. Absolutely perfect place for a stay.

Nothing negative. It is only worth to mention there is a new building construction ongoing on the other side of the road that may give some noise on weekdays. It was however not disturbing and should be completed within 2-3 months (as of early August 25)
