Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The location of the hotel is perfect. The breakfast is excellent, whilst the evening meal was very good.
The noise outside the hotel is excessive. Bin collections appeared to occur every morning at 6am.
Location and history
Food was poor. We had dinner and breakfast, both poor.
Location
Noise. The clock tower bells every 15 minutes all night long. As the staff their say, a quirk of being so central. But ear plugs work.
Great ambience and location Cute little street
Food was good but the highest room and no lift was hard going as I am not very mobile as I have a bad leg and I struggled a lot
A lift to the top floor No lifts in the hotel I did not know that the room would be the furthest away on the top floor
The ambience
Breakfast could have been larger
The corridors smelt lovely and were lit by Tiffany lamps, giving it a warm comfortable feeling. The food was good and tasty.
How they originally responded to my complaint. Being left unable to shower.
Great atmosphere, nice view of the castle. Very walkable area to the castle and water front.
Everything was wonderful. Beds were super comfy 😌 ☺️
We were only there one night and we had no hot water or heating. We did report it but nothing was done. It didn't really matter but guests who were there longer were very disappointed. We feel some acknowledgement of the problem would have been helpful.
The room was lovely, the bed magnificent, and the TV worked. Especially liked the night light in the bathroom. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on food.
The only failing was that I could not understand the hotel wifi system, which seemed very clunky and meant I could not access the internet. As it was only for one night this did not matter greatly.
It was clean and different to what I have stayed in before which I liked
Nothing
Beautiful historic building, centre of Conway, staff very helpful. Dog and people friendly.

The location and vibe was twas really good witty a wide variety of shops and resturants

Posizione centrale. Hotel caratteristico con camere ampie, personale gentile. Buono anche il ristorante

Beautiful building, very stylish comfortable and welcoming.Perfect location on the high street within walking distance of the bay and Conway Castle
Little bit noisy ( our room was overlooking the high street) but it was one of the busiest weekends of the year.
Location was great Excellent staff
Nothing
Very good breakfast, lovely clean well furnished room. The staff went above and beyond to get food and drinks for us after the restaurant closed.
Only to say the bar area looks tired.
Great location Excellent service, really friendly staff Lovely warm feel to the building Beautiful bar
To enter the car park it’s abit tight Limited parking spaces but staff did say that the issue could be solved if I couldn’t park
Location
We stayed in room 302. The room was tired, the bathroom had a strong smell like the drains, the TV never worked, we reported it to different members of staff and left access to our room but still not working when we left. From past reviews the TV issue is still on going. We requested a call from the manager over a week ago we still haven't received a call. At £159 a night, room only this is very poor value for money.
Charmantes Hotel mit historischem Ambiente. Lage mitten in Conwy.
Tudo
The historic building. The location right in the centre. The cleanliness of the room. The tasty breakfast and very friendly waiting on staff.
Tired decor, needs some modernising. Old carpets need replacing. Hallway needs a repaint. Get rid of the shower curtain!
Accoglienza
Colazione scadente
The room was fantastic.
Access to the car park is very very tight for a BMW X5. Nothing to be done but worth letting guests know in advance.
location/room were really great
road noise/too many wet smelly dogs
Good location and comfortable room
No lounge. Expensive breakfast.
Location, food was very nice , the rooms are always very clean .
No lift
The location, the free parking, the history.
Being town centre and a busy bar, it was noisy. The public rooms could do with a little TLC and maybe an area where resident guests can relax.
Staff was exceptional. We had a cross breeze thanks to two windows. Location was, perhaps, the best in Conwy.
The hotel was just a few steps away from 4 stars. No AC meant we had to leave the windows open, making the loud al fresco dining area under our window a pisser.

Fabulous central location & free parking!
Expensive for what it is, £259 (breakfast for 2 would have been another £33!) No window view just a wall, bar prices almost twice that of pub over the road!
Emplacement plein centre +parking, style classique très british, beau décor intérieur.
The location and historic building. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All of them including the night staff(man). The fact the property is dog friendly is also a really good thing.
It’s not that I did t like it but some of the furniture in the bar, coffee shop and out door area needs updating.
The rooms were a good size, very clean and lovely decor. The beds were very comfortable too.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food generally.
I will definitely be staying again it was so homely with lovely staff.
Nothing
Central location. Really liked the vibe of the aesthetic. Walking into the room and there was a vintage style digital radio playing quietly. Room was made up perfectly. All the essentials provided. Really comfortable bed and bedding. Nice touch to have the window slightly open to air the room out on a hot summers day with a fan supplied. Staff were very very busy but helpful when approached. Usually there was someone at the entrance desk. The food was very tasty, I had the grilled fish with vegetables and a side however the side was definitely not necessary 😂 Jugs of water were available at the bar and some water just outside in the hallway with lemons which was nice. oh, I also ordered some olives before my meal came and there was enough for the whole table, which I had all to myself 😁 Parking was my only one concern however a friendly local pointed me in the right direction. I had to wait until 6pm to go through a restricted access road to get where I needed to go, which was under an archway opposite to where the boats are docked. When I tried calling the hotel for directions, the number took me through to some kind of call centre who didnt have any clue how to direct me and were unable to reach the hotel directly to help me either. At least they tried though! Overall very happy and would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area. Thankyou 😊
Location was great, staff friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and well appointed, had everything we needed.
Nice location for the town
Dirty blinds, Windows not locking properly Too expensive, £400 for 2 nights for 1 person No supplements for single travel and no breakfast included Our party of 9 went to the local cafe and saved 100s of pounds
Lovely staff, historical hotel right in the middle of Conwy.
Because our room overlooked the main street, it was very noisy, late into the night. Our four poster room was lovely but the bathroom was tiny. The floors and skirting boards could've been cleaner and the breakfast was lacking in choice. I expected more from a 4 star hotel which charged nearly £300 for the night.
The room was stunning. The victorian bath was a surprise. Location was excellent and the restaurant was superb.
The clock tower bell behind the hotel goes off every 30 mins all through the night. We had to use noise generators to sleep as it was more invasive than my tolerance, which is pretty decent.
Ambiance of the hotel - the food (breakfast and dinner) and location.
We were disappointed the two rooms were so far apart but it was fully booked.
Castle is located inside city walls, with its own parking lot. Close to the castle. The staff is very friendly, the food is excellent, and with welsh beer on tap. Breakfast is delightful. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Will definitively be booking here again when coming back to Conwy.
The building is historic and as such is confined with regards to changes. To access the parking lot, you must traverse a very narrow alley/coach and horse passage. Not a problem with most cars, I have an mid-sizeSUV and made it through, but bigger cars might prefer to park elsewhere. This is not a negative of the hotel, more an advice to future guest.
It’s a lovely building with slightly corny pictures to add to the mock medieval vibe, but felt warm, friendly and comfortable.
Not really. The door to the room was a little fiddly to lock/ unlock. Also, an option for firm pillows please!
Location and staff
Outside area requires tidying up
Location was great, having good onsite carparking was very convenient considering the hotel is inside the old city walls. Conwy is a charming town and the hotel is ideally placed to explore it. Good restaurant options in close walkable distance. Lovely hotel breakfast
Very small shower
Ottima la posizione. Ambiente csldo e confortevole.
dinner went very well and the staff were helpful and friendly
Very good breakfast
Stay was wonderful, room ,food and staff lovely would book again
The staff were great, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. Special mention to the cleaners who clearly work tirelessly to keep the whole place immaculate... not an easy task in a building of that age.
Breakfast was excellent quality but was a little disorganised in terms of missing items or things that had run out not being replaced very quickly or without asking. The staff were attentive though so this wasnt a huge problem.
Good friendly staff, great food, good location
Very old Elizabethan coaching in. I had a great room with a view of the high street. The staff were very kind . The food was excellent
As it was a very hot day . No air con but that cannot be helped as the property is extremely old. The staff were really good friendly and went out of their way to help me.
All the staff were very accommodating, professional and very helpful. The parking facilities were very good with nominated spaces for rooms and also dedicated parking for motorcycles. Great location for exploring Conwy. Good sizeable restaurant and bars and also seating area outside.
We found that the hotel was noisy and the hotel provided earplugs in all rooms. There was an intrusive light from a neighbouring restaurant which was on all night which impacted upon our sleep and their seating area looked directly into our bedroom.
Very clean and central
N/A
Helpful, polite staff.
Too hot, no air, window doesn't open very far, no air conditioning.
The room was excellent as was cleanliness and fittings. Staff were very helpful
Restaurant dinner was spoiled by number of dishes not available
It was right opposite the cathedral so on a perfect position. It is beautifully decorated throughout.
We stopped at the height of the hot weather with a dog so the room we were put in although lovely just didn’t cool down. The bacon was hard at breakfast so over cooked. Apart from these minor things, it is an hotel I would recommend.
Lunch and breakfast delicious.
No light bed cover for hot night, duvet not needed but no top sheet provided.
The location and the suite.
The restaurant service is very slow, they could use table cloths on the battered tables.
Great spot, friendly staff and clean rooms.
We loved the car parking even-though the entrance was narrow. Our room was small but we used other areas of the hotel for breakfast, dinner and drinks to make up for that. Staff through out the hotel were friendly and helpful.
It was VERY hot during our stay so we were a bit uncomfortable in our actual room.
Great location, comfortable room and fabulous staff.
The relaxed friendly efficiency of the staff . The evening meals in the restaurant were a particular highlight and being offered the choice of a continental or cooked breakfast . High standards of cleanliness
The breakfast sausages were not to my liking I prefer traditional butchers sausages but still a good standard
Lovely breakfast with good choice. Great location very friendly/helpful staff. very comfortable rooms great food on the menu for evening meal
View from one room looked onto 1st floor tables and chairs of adjoining building, there was a blind in place, just a shame the view was people who could see into the room if the blind was up! Loud music from adjoining venue until i guess 10:30 or 11pm. Would not hear once window is shut. Mother had tomato, chickpea and paprika soup one night, it was so spicy it made her lips numb for a while, waitress said this had happened before - so why does it not say it's very hot/spicy on the menu? Meal service sometimes slow to be seen/served once sat down.
Breakfast was a shambles so only had breakfast once.
Good central location. Comfortable. Lovely building.
Nothing.
For a three-night stay costing €727 without breakfast, we expected a much higher standard. Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing. The roller blinds were old and dirty, the bed was clearly worn out with visible damage on the sides, and the bathroom had a strong sewage and urine smell throughout our stay. The bathroom extractor fan was also dirty. The hotel also felt impersonal, and the overall level of cleanliness was below expectations. These are not major renovations but basic maintenance and housekeeping issues that should be easy to address, especially for a hotel charging premium rates. The location is excellent, although it can be noisy. However, the condition of the room did not match either the price or the expectations created by the hotel. The rear of the hotel, including the terrace, was also a real disappointment and looked neglected. To make matters worse, the staff were the least friendly we have ever encountered, making us feel far from welcome. Overall, we were very disappointed and would not consider this hotel good value for money.
Great location with parking, staff were so friendly, breakfast was delicious
Nothing
Location
Untidy exterior at rear
Great staff, position in center of town , car parking, room was refurbished,
Room Price, public areas very tired, restarunt food average,
Furnishings and the overall styling of the hotel. Staff were all polite and helpful. Lovely breakfast.
Unfortunately, on an extremely hot day (and night), there was no temperature control in the room, and - especially as I fronted onto the main road, had to keep the curtains closed, so the room was very hot, even with the fan provided. Consequency, i didn't really sleep at all, but it was an exceptionally hot night.
Great staff, very friendly. Clean throughout . Amazing breakfast
Good food and service in the dining room.
Lacks comfortable seating areas.

Familiar, stayed there numerous times.
No lifts for disabled people, not many rooms with walk in showers.
The Castle is in an excellent location and has excellent parking facilities. My room and the service was excellent, with kind staff as usual.
Very clean and cosy
Room very hot could not control heating Could not open blind because the window was overlooked by a patio area No lift! 4 star ? and no lift ?
Drinks £ 11 . For one glass of beer! Room very hot
So beautiful, I loved my stay in this hotel. Room was so clean and comfortable and staff were very helpful. Food excellent, thank you
There wasn't anything I didn't like.
Lovely hotel with good parking in a great location. we had a lovely stay, the food was excellent, great dinner and breakfast. The room was well presented and very clean, thank you Zoe, staff were very friendly and helpful. It was also great value scoring better than hotels we have stayed in costing way more. Thank you.
All good, nothing at all to complain about.
Location was awesome, Smack-dab in the center of the walled town. Breakfast options varied nicely with numerous continental and specifically cooked items.. And lots of parking on site
Bathroom, especially the shower, was pretty tight, Seemed a bit over priced compared to other lodgings where we stayed at in Wales & Cotswolds during same 3 week vacation.
The location within the town walls was great.
The vehicular access was difficult.
The large room with the "hidden" Narnia sitting space with view of castle totally enchanted my wife and me. Location was special, being in the center of the small, walled city. Plenty of free parking.
Bed was roomy, but a bit stiff for me. No elevator, so being on the top floor may be a challenge for older clients. Food was good and plentiful, but did not fully match the splendor of this hotel. Windows facing the castle needed cleaning.
The room exceeded my expectations. The food was amazing and I loved my old fashioned cocktail from the bar. Will definitely be back. The staff were amazing and so friendly.
Nothing. Everything was taken care of for the bathrobe and slippers in our room, to the bath mats which is something I’ve always had to ask for.
Right in the centre of Conwy with parking! Can’t be beaten for location and the breakfast and evening meal were excellent
Serving staff could have been a little more attentive
Totally historic, classy, elegant and smack in the center of it all. Danny was especially helpful and went out of his ways. Wait staff wonderful too.
Not a thing
The food was very good for breakfast and dinner. Our room was comfortable and clean. It was a great location and I would recommend it.
I know it's an historic property, but I wish there had been a lift for people with mobility issues.
Location was perfect. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Staff were super helpful
Nothing
lovely friendly staff superb location easy parking lovely clean rooms historic building
The Staff were exceptional, freindly, polite and helpfull. The food was fantastic. The hotel was a fantastic place to stay and i will be coming back as soon as i can.
I did not find anything that i did not like. was spent most of my time away so did not use many of the facilities. But i have nothing negative to say about anything from my stay.
Famous old historical hotel.
Too hot in bathroom with electric towel rails which left heating all all day and night also bedroom and bathroom were no air because curtains was closed due sun directly🙈 also there are only ONE STAFF run bar, restaurant and reception all evening and in the morning. Breakfast facilities was disappointed and welsh breakfast isn’t nice because bacon and sausage was overcooked! Hotel costs me £193 for one night really double overcharged because inside different rooms e.g bedroom, bar lounge and breakfast room need update model.
I was really impressed with the Castle Hotel; the room was lovely and spacious and all the facilities were great, the location was fantastic and it was great to have a restaurant/bar just downstairs. The walls were on the thin side (which you'd expect in a historic building), but the room came with earplugs which I thought was very thoughtful, and I appreciated the free bottles of water. I'd happily stay again if I come back to Conwy.
If I had to pick something, the hotel's carpark has a somewhat tight entrance, so if you're in a huge car you might struggle a little. My 5-door sedan was able to go in with some careful driving though, and worst-case scenario there's a smaller carpark out the front.
Location is excellent, 200 meter from seaside, 200 meter from Castle. Rooms are well arranged, clean and maintained, coffee table and nespreso machine refilled daily. Breakfast is well served and stuffed. Bar down is in victorian style. gives some sense of oldies. Personnel attentiven and supportive, lovely people. Well designed and decored rooms and halls.
My room (101) was facing to pathway to Church and bar veranda / terrace, you can hear noises from outside, street noise, Church bells, watch quarter chimns. During daytime it's ok, but sleep may be disturbed. Earplugs are provided if you are light sleeper.
Location
Aged
The room was lovely. What we expected for an older hotel. Loved the towel warmer in the bathroom. Breakfast was very nice, with large portions. Parking was convenient, just across the street from the front. I believe there was parking in the back as well.
There was no elevator (lift) which I somehow missed in looking up the hotel. Staff did offering to help us carry our bags to the room, though.
