The timeshare sales to get discounts
Pros- • Communal areas were presented well • The room was extremely comfortable and clean-we had a garden view room • Easy to get down to the pool area, restaurants and main reception • By the beach • Lots of loungers and the bars were conveniently located • The pools were clean and lots of towels • There is a shop outside of the hotel where they sell items for a reasonable price unlike the resort and there is a Starbucks there too
Cons- • You are trapped in this resort as there is nothing of note in the area • There are 6 restaurants, but the food is not the standard you would expect from such a resort and very basic (burgers and fries), overpriced foods. We are glad we didn’t go for the all- inclusive package as it would have been a waste of money for a couple. • The beach didn’t have nice views and felt as if it was artificially made-the sand was gritty not soft! • It cost 900 pesos to the airport (a fixed price) • On our final evening, we went for a meal in one of the restaurants. They said they would be closing the kitchen soon but if we ordered now, it wouldn’t be a problem. The waiter was overbearingly attentive. My husband ordered a soup and before he had finished our mains were on the table and his bowl was being whipped away upon on last mouthful. Then whilst we were eating our mains, the waiter asked if we would like dessert. We said yes and he brought over the menu and asked us to choose. At this point we were getting irritated by his interruptions, but we chose a dessert. The dessert arrived within minutes of us finishing our mains (as did all the food-far too quickly for it be fresh) but as we were eating our 2 pathetic churros, the waiter once again came over with the card machine asking us how we want to pay and tip! At this point we were outraged and asked to see the manager for the restaurant and the manager for the hotel. We were appalled by how we were being rushed and treated in this resort. Considering what you are paying, this is completely unacceptable. We were being treated like an ATM! • Upon arrival your card is charged $450 dollars for any incidentals, this is an obscene amount. • This resort became very boring, very quickly. You constantly feel they are trying to sell things to you. For instance, upon check-in the receptionists tried to sell us ‘discounted massages’ but only if we purchased them there and then (they were still hundreds of US dollars).
Nice facilities, including a kids’ club. The The Italian restaurant is great. The pool area is fantastic!
No option for Japanese or Asian food.
Very good location , clean , variety of restaurants, gorgeous pools and above all lovely staff

From the moment we checked and right up until we left, the staff, the view, the room . everything was absolutely divine. we had an amazing time. overall I would recommend. The restaurants were also okay .
There wasn't much to not like asides from more options with the hotel restaurants on food choices. v
Th rooms and pools were spectacular! We also ate at the Devino restaurant which was delicious.
They didn’t tell us that the $25.00 food and beverage credit couldn’t be applied at the restaurant. We even inquired about this credit at check in and was told it would be applied on the back end at check out. This was disappointing.
L’emplacement
Accueil restaurant
The service from all the people was outstanding!!!That made our visit.
Disappointed that the adult pool was so small and there was no swim up bar.
The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean. The grounds were kept up well. Staff were friendly. The buildings are cute.
The beach is quite thin in this area. This is not a relaxing hotel, I would never recommend it to a couple. The kids are very loud and everyone wakes you up at 7am in the hallways. This is not a good value either as the food was really terrible. We didn’t pay for the all inclusive but if you’re going to pay $600 a night for all inclusive, you might as well spend another $150 a night and stay at Xcaret (there’s a kid friendly and adults only) and have good food. We did the $300 night that per booking came with a $50 credit but we had to fight to have the credit applied showing our booking on the app repeatedly and then they only did a 20% discount/it came out to a $30 credit. Dinner for 1 night was almost $150 and it was inedible. If you don’t pay for all inclusive there is nothing around unless you want to pay an overpriced taxi rate (there’s no negotiating if the hotel calls it so expect $25 to go 7-10 min) away. I much prefer staying in places like Isla where you can enjoy food outside of the hotel but we had to book 1 night here before we moved to a work trip resort which was $850/night adults only and had delicious food and grounds but a hard bed. I am very grateful for the comfortable bed.
The rooms were so clean and spacious. The whole resort was beautiful.
The property was great. Sure from the front of the hotel facing away from the resort wasn’t the prettiest, but honestly, I only saw that when I was walking to my room from the elevators it really wasn’t that big of a deal. Even with construction going on
The territory was nice, green and clean. Rooms are well designed so you can fit all luggage for 4 people nicely. The kids club was super good, my daughter wanted to stay all the time and was having fun, the programme for kids was very well thought. Having a carousel nearby was also a nice surprise for families with kids. Lots of swimming pools, the water was really warm in combination with extremely friendly staff that what we liked. Hammock in the room was a great addition!
First, tips system. We felt under pressure to leave tips although we were all-inclusive. Even in a buffet when you serve yourself you still need to sign the bill and supposed to leave tips. It was quite an addition to the cost of our stay. It might be a common thing in Mexico, but we didn't expect this. Secondly, the timeshare programme where again you are under pressure to take part in. The moment we arrived, we were tired and hungry but we had to listen to this promo and needed to commit we will take part. The only thing we wanted was to rest, but not being attacked with numbers, discounts, programme benefits, etc. The next morning they woke us up at 7.30am saying we needed to go, but we changed our mind and felt that we did something terribly wrong as already committed to this. It shouldn't happen and I understand that staff bonuses probably depend on the number of people they convinced to take part in the programme but still I am on holidays and want to rest. And if I change my mind and want to sleep and have my breakfast later it should be totally fine. Thirdly, sunbeds by the pool. You never can find free sunbeds, they are all occupied. We were kicked out once from sunbeds because they were 'reserved' for someone else. To be fair, personnel still helped us to find other sunbeds but they were further away from the pool. I guess you need to have an agreement with the staff and tip them to have nice sunbeds, but not sure how people were getting them. And finally, I didn't like the queues for breakfast and the booking system for dinners as spaces were never available. So we had to come and find a table on the go, maybe wait for 15-20 mins and be in a non-peak time also. The fact that you don't have access to food whenever you want is also a disappointment. For example, you cannot find bananas or apples for your kid during the day. You can only visit a restaurant and order by the menu.
Nice resort
Hard sell time share
One bedroom accommodation was very spacious, well equipped and spotless. The whole resort is spotless and there are plenty of staff around the resort- all so friendly. Pool is lovely. Food in the speciality restaurants was really good. Breakfast had plenty of variety. Cannot comment on the buffet dinner as we didn't have it. Beach was lovely and clean.
We would have liked a small playground for our 2 year old. Under 4 cannot access the kids club at all. There is a carousel on the grounds which he did enjoy. Night entertainment was not the best and not as per the programme every night.
Great hotel with plenty restaurants and very rich animations program for adults and kids
Nothing everything was good 👍 Perfect location beautiful scenery and service.
Excellent! Would come back!
Property extremely well kept and clean. Good variety of quality restaurants.
Staff tipping demands. Did not have to suffer this previously. On 'all inclusive' no tipping should be required. Frequently now, staff appear at the end of a meal with an unsubtle demand for a tip. You are shown a phone and expected to authorize a tip. This can lead to staff disharmony when you decline. Leaves a bad taste and produces unwelcome stress on your holiday.
Beautiful resort, staff was very friendly and helpful. Pull out couch was very comfortable. Food was delicious and beautiful.
Beach had a lot of seaweed even though they tried to keep up on removing it.
The staff and service were exceptional. The food was good. The grounds were impeccable.
We did not like paying for Starbucks coffee when we had the all inclusive package. The supplies and food, snacks at the mini food market is not included, understandably. Yet, the Starbucks coffee at the food mart should be included.
Excellent! Huge rooms. So great for our family. Kids loved the pool, the beach was nice and clean. Staff was amazing. We had a great time
Nothing
Lovely, spacious room and spotlessly clean. Pools and gardens beautifully maintained
Nothing
Mostly very nice and friendly staff. The studio and the balcony with a hammock were fantastic and a real highlight of our stay. The Mexican food served at the hotel was delicious, while the other dishes were not as impressive. Breakfast was superb.
All sun loungers, including the ocean-facing communal sofas, were reserved very early in the morning – sometimes during the night – mainly by the pool attendants. By 7:00am there was not a single free one available. Unless you tipped the attendant, it was almost impossible to get a sun lounger, which we have never experienced in other hotels, and we travel frequently. The restaurant booking system also needs improvement. There was no availability when we arrived and during our 5-night stay (split into two bookings) the concierge was only able to secure one reservation for us. The Mexican restaurant was excellent and the food there was delicious, but the other dining options were quite average. .
Some of the cleaning staff was nice, hotel itself designed well in terms of accessibility
No hospitality, no one willing to help with just 1 hour early check in, expensive for the location, tips added in the bills “as per hotel policy” without even asking us if we want to give tips or not,
They don't tell honestly and sell u on spot
They lie about the services and when I told them to watch camera they start giving excuses.
Everything
Nothing just more activity’s and shows would be nice
Facility so nice and good breakfast.
Check in - check out time confusing. Not matching with booking.com and their tv information. Location not that great
Our apartment was huge only negative it needed cleaning and paint was leaking everywhere !
Excellent rooms Good service overall Friendly staff
Food rubbish Lots of issues with the room key Expensive for drinks Beach not very good

Nada
The hotel was beautiful
The way they applied my $80 daily restaurant credit was not honored,
This was my second stay at Villa del Palmar, and it remains a high-quality resort. The staff are the hotel’s greatest strength, with a good balance between experienced professionals and younger employees, creating smooth and well-organized service. Special thanks to Vicky and her housekeeping team for their professionalism and attention to detail. The food was consistently excellent and well prepared. Room service staff were polite and respectful, and the reception team took good care of both me and my luggage. The room was brand new, comfortable, and beautiful. I stayed room-only, which suited me well, and food quality across the resort—especially lunches with fresh fish—was outstanding
Prices rise sharply close to Christmas, making the resort clearly targeted at a very affluent segment. I paid nearly 15,000 NOK for 8 nights, room only, whereas breakfast was included on my previous stay. There was noticeable noise between rooms, and some guests were very loud. On arrival, there were several minor practical issues (room keys, safe, drainage, curtains, bed linen), which were resolved. Mosquitoes were a significant issue during this period, particularly for Scandinavian and European guests.
Food and drinks were good, room was really clean and majority of the staff were very welcoming. Beach and the pools were nice.
Tipping shouldnt be this much center of everything! This was so called all inclusive booking but they wont even let you to get a banana at breakfast. Constantly you have to close out like you were in a normal restaurant then you have to tip. It was irritating. Concierge was also not really nice, had to wait till 3 pm to get the room; i stayed in Cancun before and this was never being a huge deal like they did in this hotel. They even didnt help on the last day to schedule a taxi. Normally a resort should have their own airport taxis.
This was my second stay at Villa del Palmar Luxury Resort & Spa, and overall I still rate the hotel 5 stars. A special thank you to Luis for his care, flexibility, and understanding. He treats guests with respect and genuine consideration. The hotel clearly looks after its guests when you are honest and straightforward, and that creates trust. The staff dynamic is a real strength here. There is a good balance between younger, newer employees and experienced professionals, and it works very well. The diversity among staff—across ages, nationalities, and backgrounds—is noticeable and positive. The service flow is generally smooth, and the team makes a real effort, even during busy periods. The room was brand new and beautiful, with excellent comfort. The food remains outstanding—especially lunch with fresh fish. Overall food quality is consistently high
That said, prices increase significantly close to Christmas. At this time, it is clearly a resort mainly accessible to wealthier travelers. I paid almost 15,000 NOK for 8 nights, room only. On my previous stay, breakfast was included, but this time only the room was included, which actually suited me better since I rarely use the all-inclusive options. There are some issues worth mentioning. It is quite noisy between rooms, and many guests—particularly American tourists—are very loud, which affects rest. The welcome is warm, but there were technical issues: incorrect room keys, problems opening the safe (security assistance was needed), mosquitoes in the room, a bathroom sink that would not drain, and light curtains that did not work properly upon arrival. The bed linen was not completely clean at first. Mosquitoes are the biggest challenge at this time of year, especially for Scandinavian and European guests. I believe January and later months are better in this regard, although prices increase further at high-end resorts like this one.
We had a very good stay at this resort and were lucky to receive an upgrade to a suite, which was excellent. The resort was very clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the amenities were outstanding, making the overall experience truly enjoyable.
Limited food options if you want to eat outside of the resort.
Everything, from the stuff to the place .
I loved it all
Food , amenities and more so the staff !!! One of the best all inclusive options
The booking for the Italian restaurant.. the other restaurants were readily accessible .so expected the same for the Italian cuisine.
High end service and food.
Certain part of the menus in restaurant is high end,- chef choice. For all inclusive I’d expect a bit more than 20% discount…
Excellent, professional, and genuinely caring staff across all departments. Villa del Palmar Cancún is a family-friendly hybrid resort combining a beachfront all-inclusive experience with a vacation club / timeshare model, without affecting guest access to facilities. The resort offers a wide range of amenities: several restaurants and bars, multiple pools, beach access, spa, kids’ club, activities for both adults and children, and concierge services. The Gourmet Culinary All-Inclusive plan is well organized and delivers good food quality and variety throughout the stay. Rooms and suites are spacious, well maintained, and many have ocean views. Service feels personal and consistent, and the staff clearly go the extra mile for guests. Considering that the property and surrounding area were affected by Hurricane Otis in 2023, the level of operation, maintenance, and service is impressive. The entire team deserves recognition and tips for their efforts
Some taxi drivers outside the resort do not consistently follow standard pricing. This is not related to the hotel itself but is worth noting for guests.
Everything was absolutely amazing!
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
Emplacement, nourriture de qualité et personnel souriant
