Haka House Queenstown Lakefront

I stayed at Haka House for five days and had a wonderful experience. The room was very clean, comfortable, and offered a great sense of privacy. The shared spaces, especially the kitchen and dining area, were also spacious and well maintained. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful! I would definitely choose Haka House again the next time I visit Queenstown!

Excelente ubicación, una vista increíble, la cocina es excepcional, todos los ambientes están bien calefaccionados. Los baños siempre limpio, el agua de la ducha a muy buena temperatura.

En los dormitorios de 8 personas es muy pequeño el espacio que queda para guardar equipajes y hay muchas personas que viven ahí, no están de paso, eso hace un poco incómoda la habitación.

Room is not cleaned. And you have to pay for parking even if you’re a hotel resident.

The staff make the place despite it's amazing location . To Ineka , Adam , Russ , Lily and the others ( apologies for not having the names on hand) superbly managed and run so smoothly . Mo easy task with an establishment of this size . Well done Staff !

I have stayed at Haka Hotels in Rotorua, Queenstown, and Lake Tekapo, and my favourite is definitely the Haka Hotel in Lake Tekapo. There are several reasons why I like it so much. First, before my arrival, the hotel emailed me clear instructions on how to collect my room key, which made the late check-in very easy and convenient. The kitchen is also spacious and well-equipped, including a coffee machine. What I love most is the lounge area. The comfortable sofas and the terrace face directly towards the lake, so you can sit there and enjoy the beautiful Lake Tekapo view.

The only downside is that the shower water pressure could be a little stronger.

Friendly helpful staff, nice social spaces, well equipped kitchen, nice dorms. Lots of parking available (either pay for on-site parking or can park on street for free)

A bit far out of the centre of queenstown but a beautiful location for walking. Wish there were more social events held at the hostel

Quick walk into town centre

Little bit of maze, and noticed that they didn’t provide certain amenities (eg shampoo and conditioner), but rather the same in the bottles.

Some doors in the building slammed closed which disturbed my sleep and some showers needed maintenance

Simple, clean room with a lakefront view. Staff were friendly. There was a large shared kitchen with utensils and cutlery provided, but it was so heavily used that I felt things were not the cleanest. Still a nice option to have. You can also store your luggage here for $4 a day.

The room felt quite cold - there was only a small heater in the room and it wasn’t enough. There was hardly any place to hang our stuff - four hangers and a hook for a hand towel in the bathroom and that was all. The bathroom could use more hooks at least for hanging bath towels and clothes. The hot water went out in the middle of my shower but it only happened once.

Very quiet facing the lake it’s a beautiful property. One of the cheaper options in Queensland

Can be abit noisy , beds and toilets abit dirty but otherwise I think it’s quite value for money

that it was right near the lake and you could go for walks,

only downfall was the kitchen it had a really potent stink in there. but other than that was good for what i needed to do. oh and the car park was full so couldnt get a parking in the facility area.

It was a nice set up for the kitchen but the bedinh was poor to small not very comfortable and no where to store my belongings safly I didn’t end up stayin there for any of the 6 nights

Great staff and accommodations!

Well organised hostel, quite busy but you can still find tranquility in the room. Clean and cosy. Kitchen was lacking some pots giving how busy it is.

The location is great. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Due to high occupancy the shared spaces could have been cleaner. The room was very small. Less space in a twin room than in a dorm.

I sleep well, the hostel is nice and the kitchen is big.

The location was the best part and the women’s toilets were clean. The room was relatively clean.

The room was absolutely tiny. No closet, and definitely no space to open your luggage comfortably to grab your stuff. The corridor smelled bad and musty. The room smelled musty too but not as bad.

Small rooms for the amount of people in there (6 dorm), would constantly have to move out of people's way if there were 2 or more people trying to get into their bags at once.

Probably the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The facilities are modern, and everything has been thoughtfully designed so you have everything you need

Nothing to say

My favourite part was the view from the window. It was beautiful both during the day and at night. The kitchen was also kept very clean.

The bed was not very clean, and there were some hairs on the bed sheets, especially on the upper bunk. It would also be helpful if the hotel could provide clear reminders for guests sharing a room with others to keep their belongings either on their own bed or in the lockers/cabinets, rather than placing them on the floor. This can obstruct movement in the room and may also affect the guests staying in the lower bunk.
