Nice food, friendly staff.
At 8 am the shower seemed to be available only at boiling point. Pleasant twin room, but very small for 2.
Location so close to St Cuthberts Way. The room had everything we needed
The room was very small. But worst was that the kitchen smells came straight in the window so we had to keep it shut
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The showed me to my room and helped me find the private carpark. A lovely location set in the Cheviot hills. The full cooked breakfast was served hot and in good time.
My room was right next to an outdoor extractor fan mechanism which was very noisy and it wasn't switched off until 11pm. There were a lot of hammering knocking type noises happening within the building at the same time and continued till 11pm. The bathroom tiled floor was uneven and the bed's mattress was extremely hard making it uncomfortable for a restfull sleep. The bathroom was not very clean and there were dead flies by the window in the room. I stayed in room 5.
Not a lot
Very stuffy no air circulation anywhere, no windows in any of my rooms at the rear couldn’t breathe had to hold our door open with luggage holder, breakfast room no windows or air circulation must be a nightmare in the summer,
Convenience to our route. Nice friendly staff
The bath was in an awkward place, difficult to reach the blinds
Room was comfortable Staff were great
Lovely bedroom and huge bed!! Loved the branches and lights. Lovely breakfast. Friendly staff.. Dining area decor lovely. Very dog friendly. We wanted to stay another night but sadly it was fully booked. Would definitely return.
Bathroom a bit worn, otherwise no complaints
The food and service was very good in the restaurant and the staff were very friendly.
We were put in room one which we saw immediately was dirty. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and dust all over the blinds in every room. There was dried wood as a artistic feature however these were not cleaned and could’ve been full of spiders. Immediately we saw the room we asked for it to be cleaned properly. This was not done again in the morning. We said could they clean the room because there were still spiders in the bathroom and cobwebs. Finally, when we arrive back in the afternoon, we spoke to the housekeeper who eventually came and cleaned the room properly as it should’ve been. We were worried that the wood was a fire hazard and the directions in the event of fire were very far from our room. The room is featured on a video that is played in the dining room as being the room for the hotel and this is the one we stayed in and it is filthy and needs a thorough clean. In addition our room was advertised as a double however it had two single beds that were not linked the bed on the right the mattress slope so much that when you were lying in bed you you fell down towards the edge of the bed three or four times a night.
The second room we stayed in was wonderful! Stag and owner amazing!
It’s room a bit too hot
We stayed for 2 nights because our booked property was a dump !!! Stayed a pre booked night really happy, first room a bit small, next room amazing, staff and owner lovely and really helpful, this place is a must if you stay in Wooler!!
Nothing it was great
Good for what we needed to explore the Cheviots on our bikes
The room occupant above our room was excessively noisy - stomping around until 1am - no idea why but the noise disturbed our otherwise excellent stay.
Good location on high street
My room was in a rear annex and felt a little “unfinished” but was comfortable enough.
Its location near Ad Gefrin was ideal for needs. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Tasty breakfast.

Lovely room. Lovely breakfast. pleasant staff.
Bathroom very small
Lovely staff. A good breakfast
Nothing
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome.
I stayed in Room 10. Good size, a bit dated. Good breakfast. Good food menu, I ate in the restaurant and enjoyed my meal. the two members of staff who ran the front of house were amazing. Fully booked with walk ins for drinks on the Saturday night, they coped admirably.
No window, only part glazed entry door. Room 10 is located under the stairwell to the first floor and as the building is quite old, the noise from movement on the staircase was loud. Wifi was patchy to non existent, I presume beacuse Room 10 is the furthest from the main building
Central friendly staff nice bar/restaurant and the meals were good
Didn’t like that they allowed dogs in rooms but I should have researched that before
Banging door, extractor fan broken
Location is good in central Wooler
Access to the bedrooms is very awkward, breakfasts very meagre, restaurant had virtually no veggie/plant based options, so we ate out.
An all right stay overall. The staff is nice, the breakfast is good.
There was a kitchen exhaust right outside the window, but it operated at reasonable hours, so didn't bother me much
Bedroom, bathroom, location very good
Friendly staff . Good parking
Bedroom small and too warm . Fan did not work . Room smelt fusty / damp . Very expensive for quality of room
Not much I’m afraid. The staff were all very friendly and helpful ‘eventually’
When we arrived there was nothing we could see to tell us where to go. My husband eventually went into the bar. I saw a tiny sign facing away that pointed to reception but there wasn’t one! The barman was showing someone to their room and both pushed past me without a word! The place is called number one but it’s anything but. The rooms are in desperate need of an upgrade. The shower was cracked as is the sink. It was disgusting and our room was not cleaned the three nights we stayed. The room was so hot as it was 30c outside. However having the heating in the bathroom on 24/7 so hot you couldn’t touch it was just hell. The floor slopes so badly I had trouble with my balance. We had to have the window open but the noise outside kept us awake. There was a bottle bank and I think every resident in Wooler took their bottles to smash them at 6 am
Ideally situated. Friendly and helpful staff
Car parking was difficult to access. Finding our way from the car park entrance was not signposted and difficult to find our way to check in which was in the bar
very nice breakfast , good selection. Rooms lovely and well presented , friendly staff
nothing to say in this section , all met our expectations
Such a nice room. Lovely bath
Nothing . It was all excellent
Very charming and cosy.
Staff friendlies Food Room clean
Pillows wete little unconfirmed
Extremely helpful and friendly personnel, uniquely personal interior, lovely atmosphere.
Nothing Will not stay again
Room had a high up window as it was open and over the kitchen it allowed foul smelling air in to the room. Had to stand on bed to close room was then hot.
Really good breakfast.
Nothing
Lovely hotel which was just the stop we needed after a long days walk. Great help from the owners too.
Great atmosphere and overall feeling
Room quirky not sure I liked the bath looking over the street. Enjoyed the evening meal
The friendliness of the staff.
Location, large room.
Everything was lovely, staff were very friendly and breakfast was delicious. Overall a lovely stay and would definitely return.
Only negative was that it was a little noisy through the night as our room was at the front, but it was Saturday night!
The staff was great. Food was good and large portions. Very quaint.
The room was dark & dated but clean.
Lovely friendly place to stay
Room was a bit too warm so had to leave window open and local church bells went off every hour all through the night. I know this isn’t hotels fault but if room was a bit cooler then we could have closed the window and no issue
Cosy rooms, lovely area, friendly and helpful staff
Thin walls, average breakfast
Lovely little maze of a hotel. Friendly and helpful staff throughout out stay, and a very cosy and comfortable room. Even if we decide not to bath in the window overlooking the bus station 😂
The room number 4 was amazing so comfy and clean kitchen staff were so friendly his breakfast was amazing, the assistant manger she was very welcoming and chatty, the lady behind the bar second night not so friendly and while we sat having a drink she kept looking at her watch making us feel a little uncomfortable and rushed
The location, staff
The bed was uncomfortable
Location
The access to the bedrooms was underwhelming the paintwork needs attention and ripped stair carpets. The room was large a bit eccentric. The mattress is worn out on the bed and the zipper down the middle is very uncomfortable. I though the lack of shower was a same and standing in a free standing bath with shower spray in hand is likely to end in a fall
Rooms are beautiful and comfy, bar area just as beautiful and a joy to sit in, staff are fantastic.
Church bells 😄
Friendly staff and loved the big bath in the room , great breakfast
Drainage smell from the bathroom when filling the bath
Staff were all really lovely, welcoming and helpful. Knowledgeable about GF options, evening meal was ok, breakfast was really good.
Room was fun and quirky, but would benefit from new carpeting and soft furnishings.
Good breakfast Staff very friendly
Mattress was well worn and hence uncomfortable Shower a bit of a trickle
Quirky individual bedrooms and a great location
Good breakfast excellent location
Being in a front bedroom rather than in the rear
Nice staff. Room was v clean. Good bedding.
Terrible pre arrival communication. No response to my email queries or to a voice mail asking for info and a call back. No pick up from them to my ringing 6 times. The room was a bit grim. Nothing like the ones in their photos. There was no opening window, so baking hot at night, no air, and couldn't sleep. Didn't see the fan until the next morning. The room opened onto a glazed corridor leading to the car parking area, so poor natural light. The room was dark. There was no side table on one side of the bed, so water, glasses, etc. all had to sit on the floor for overnight. 1 bedside lamp only, so I couldn't read when in bed. Safety issue for nightime going to the loo as no light on my side of the room. The dressing table area had a mirror but no lighting. Dark at this end of the room. The only lighting in the room was 1 overhead light and 1 bedside light.
Staff are fantastic, breakfast and dinner options are great. Room was very clean and cosy.
Bathroom is a little small and dated.
Staff are excellent and room was beautiful, cosy and comfortable
Nothing we didn’t like
All of it. The room, the food, the staff, all outstanding.
Nothing
all good
nothing
Everything was brilliant
Location and staff
Could do with more attention to cleaning, dirty extractor in bathroom. Black mould in shower deep dust on light fitting. Stairs to bedrooms dirty on each tread next to stringer. Could be a fantastic place just a little un kempt
All staff were lively and so engaging. They offered lots of advice during our stay for visits in and around the area. Breakfast was lovely. Just a lovely place, me and my daughter had the best time. Thank you for making us so welcome.
Great location. Nice welcome. Lovely room. Choice of egg cooked to order.
Breakfast. Overcooked bacon and sausage. Poor black pudding and haggis. Really sad actually.
Everything, the rooms with the baths are amazing!
Nothing all good
Clean, authentic, lovely unique room and hotel
All good
Very welcome
Nothing
Staff lovely and breakfast was nice, lovely atmosphere.
The room was spacious even with a bath in the room, decor was nice,, food was really good as was the breakfast the next morning, staff were very helpful and friendly

Rooms were very lovely, great design and cosy.
Amazing staff, and very welcoming our roim was beautiful and breakfast was lovely bit small but nice
We stayed in Room number 1 for the second time. The bed is massive!! There's a lovely deep bath which was great for relaxing
Nothing
Great food and breakfast Amazing staff
Room we had had no windows so warm evening and didn’t get as good sleep as previous stay in a bigger room.
Everything was perfect 👌
Wen we got up early morning for breakfast the wasn't anyone about so we just left
Great position but probably the dirtyist hotel I've stayed in. Full of dirt, cobwebs and stains. The iron was burnt to a crisp. Tv didnt work. Bits missing from the bathroom. Staff who dont acknowledge you are there waiting as they're tok busy chatting. The hotel lacks a reception, so you have to go into the bar, which was packed. We waited nearly 20 mins to get out key after a long journey.
Good position
The bar area and bar staff.
The evening meals. Poor bar meals at restaurant prices. Prawns cocktail £13.50, 5 PRAWNS iceberg lettuce and a spoon of commercial sauce! Unbelievable.
Very central, very friendly staff
Room 10 had no daylight, no fresh air
The location
Got put in a family room that looked like it hadn't been touched since the 80s moved to another room which I wouldn't recommend sleeping in if you like sleeping with the window open as all U could smell was grease from the pizza shop next door until it closed. the shower handle to turn it on was just a screw didn't get told the doors locked at 10pm
Atmosphere. Location. Staff. Food. Breakfast
Dim lights on bedroom
It’s quirky and a very old building with obvious history. Fabulous location in the heart of Wooler.
Not suitable for people with accessibility issues as lots of stairs due in o age of building
Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good, with some choice of cooked breakfast. Room was clean and well-equipped. Location great, in the centre of Wooler which itself is a good base for exploring the area. The pub restaurant offered very hearty meals, though a little pricey.
Water pressure in cold tap was very low indeed, just a trickle. This made the shower somewhat unreliable, occasionally far too hot but difficult to adjust properly. Our room had an internal window which we couldn't open, making the room rather stuffy and dark. The room above us had noisy floorboards! Perhaps somewhat overpriced?
We were able to eat there. The staff were friendly and helpful
Having to stand on a chair to close the window and the blinds
The room was large with a lovely bath in it, plus en-suite shower/toilet. Enjoyed the fairy lights too. Toiletries provided were good. Staff were helpful and friendly.
There was no decaffeinated coffee at the breakfast bar. The room overlooked the road which was fairly busy during the day but quiet at night.
Good location in Wooler. Comfy bed and quiet once the kitchen staff had finished work for the night.
Everything was OK, but food and general standard of room etc didn’t feel like great value for money.
Great friendly place, staff very welcoming and your made to feel welcome
The only thing was the rear entrance could do with a freshening up.
Friendly staff. Room and public areas were clean. Evening meal was good.
Room was very hot and only able to open a tiny window to let any air in, however the window was above the extractor fan for the kitchen and the smell of cooking food pervaded the room until late into the evening. We had a terrible sleep. Breakfast timing was only 8-9 which was later than we would have liked which meant most guests all appeared at 8 at the same time.
