Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Spacious, clean, comfortable bed and a pleasant surrounding to be in.
Great location on the main street of Wooler. Easy to find. Car park nearby. Properties had everything you need for a night or nights away. Microwave, fridge, kettle and sink were a great addition to the rooms. Comfy beds and shower gel, shampoo, towels all included. Apartments clean and well kept. Thankyou.
Great size room, well equipped, nice and clean, comfy bed, bright and modern decor. Very central in Wooler.
Shower was dreadful no pressure at all.
Really clean and comfortable, was really nice having a little studio room in such a nice area.
The pub down the road got quite loud at night, but this didn’t massively bother us.
Convenient location. Good facilities.
A bit impersonal with corporate feel.
Very clean, convenient small kitchen with fridge. We had a pleasant large room.
Staff didn’t return any phone messages. Unclear about request for damage deposit or to pay for a damage waiver. This wasn’t clear while booking. Anyway the link sent didn’t work. Parking was not easy.
Great location in the middle of Wooler and a nice breakfast bar overlooking the High Street. Spacious bathroom.
Bed mattress wasn't the most comfortable, you could feel the springs. A missing bathroom shelf and would have been nice if the heated towel rail worked
Great location everything was mint inside
Has no garlic crusher lol
Location excellent. Wooler is a brilliant base.
No toilet roll provided and a dirty cloth and scourer in kitchenette. Confusing info as to whether we had a microwave in room...we did which was great. Overall these are fantastic rooms but need a few tweaks to improve things and management company that know their product and don't provide misleading info
We liked the design. We appreciated the small kitchenette which came with a microwave, fridge and washing up facilities. The small lounge and dining area gave us a lot more space than a conventional hotel guest room.
Nothing in particular. It was up four small flights of stairs which tested my arthritis!
Great place to stay
Location ideal for the business I was conducting in Wooler
Directions to the property There is no sign to let anyone know location of the Arlington House Hotel. Only when I realised the number on the door was 24 and a small keypad was present, did I try the entry code. This could be included in the directions - especially for anyone arriving in the dark. Ran out of toilet roll and no contact details present to report this to.
The location was ideal for exploring the Cheviots and Northumberland area. The room was nicely decorated.
We had a room next to the front door which always banged shut loudly as people came and went.
Room was spotless
Easy to access once code was sorted
Great location. Room was as described, good communication and quick responses. Clean and tidy.
Only small things,Pod coffee machine but no pods, if this was informed beforehand I could of brought my own. Bodywash in shower empty. Fridge in room quite noisy, maybe just the hot weather.
Great location, Easy Access. Very clean but small.
Noisy fridge. Coffee and tea but no milk or cream in our Room anyway.
Super comfortable and clean. Great communication from hosts. Easy to access and fab location. Loved the decor!
Missing 1 glass & spoon, so not perfect for 2 of us eating. Our room was on the Ground floor so could be quite noisy at times with local pub & people entering through slamming front door. Slightly odd to only provide half a loo roll & we had to buy the rest ourselves. Otherwise a comfortable stay.
There was no hassle booking in, just had to use a code. Room very welcoming, everything we needed.
Nothing we didn’t like
The bathroom was lovely and the room was quite nice. Brilliant location for Wooler
Paid quite a lot for early check in but when I arrived at the property I couldn’t enter the building. I had to look for the contact number, ring and wait for a code to come through. Later in my stay I saw a couple had the same issue with paying for late check out. It is clearly a known issue but the codes don’t allow entry to the building. Customer services were not helpful when I complained about this issue, saying they would speak to management and come back to me but I had to chase for a response, they were never able to explain why this happened despite saying they would look into this. They said because I still checked in early I still received the service, however this was paid for the ease and caused a delay. In addition, the window in our room was quite damaged, there was washing up liquid but no sponge or cloth and just some decaf coffee, no tea bags etc.
Nice clean and comfortable room. Having a free laundromat was a welcome addition and convenience.
The checkin process was annoying. The hotel is not a real hotel in the traditional sense, we walked past it several times because we were looking for a signed hotel but it is just a normal looking building with no signage. I feel calling it a hotel is misleading due to this and there being no reception or any other services provided typical of a hotel. Also, frustrating we were there 5 minutes before 4 and our codes would not work, the check in instruction did not indicate when the check in time was. I would think if the room is ready let us get in, there is nothing lost allowing us in the room if it is ready.
The property is centrally located on the high street and easy to find. The bed was comfortable. It has an ‘interior design’ style to it.
Despite a kitchenette area there was no welcome pack on arrival which is so disappointing after a long day of walking not to be able to make a hot drink. The property accepted my dog but charged £30 for the privilege. This was an exceptionally high charge compared to all the other rooms I had stayed in on my trip. There was nothing offered for this charge and I was I told this was for additional cleaning. On arrival my room hadn’t been cleaned. I was unable to speak to a person about this and needed to prove this via emailing photo evidence and texting. After an hour I was offered a different room.
The location
The key pad on the door was broken and we couldn't get into the apartment. We noticed a bent key under the lock which luckily opened the door. No answer from the number provided, we did receive a I the code for the key pad but obviously this wouldn’t work!
Compact, secure and comfortable apartment. Plenty of contact by the managers of the property checking if all is well.
Lack of parking on site is a shame, but can’t be helped because of the location.
Nice property clean and today thanks
Everything
Outside windowsills need cleaned
Easy check in, booked just an hour before staying at the apartment it was well presented with a comfortable bed & a good size shower and bathroom. I did have an issue getting a code due to the late booking however the phone number provided helped straightaway and was resolved in a few minutes. Great service and great apartment
Nothing, this was very good value for money
Everything was truly perfect. I was only missing a few small things.
I need a cutting board, a vegetable knife, and a cereal bowl from the fridge area.
Room its self was loverly and also really clean.
That i left a make up bag with some expensive stuff in. Tried to arrange collection a few times that fell through from there side due to poor communication. Only time they communicated was when they wanted to charge me postage and a £20 to post it. I then attempted again to say I would drive to collect it and didn't get another response.
This is a great place to stay in Wooler. The rooms are very large and beautifully furnished. The windows open fully, which is so refreshing - and unusual these days! The bathrooms are great. There are no staff, but check in is very straightforward. Loved this place. Wish we could have stayed longer.
A wonderful apartment to spend the night. An added bonus was the washing machine!
The location was convenient
There was no blind or curtain on the very large window. Thats a bit of an issue in the summer if you like any kind of darkness when going to bed. The booking.com messaging just gave automated messages. There was a phone number on thebroom but noone answered. Communication was awful. They are unable to sort out any issues if they arise. In addution they also ask for a swcurity deposit of £150 the day before you check in or a non refundable charge of £25. DEFINATELTY not recomended, which is a shame because the room was otherwise quite nice.
Easy check in and parking, pubs with food 100 metres away.
As we were on the ground floor we could not open the windows Also other guests letting the front door slam which woke us up several times
Excellent location in the middle of the main street, able to park outside. The room was a good size with a large shower room and very comfortable.
A toaster wasn't provided and would be nice. And we couldn't get the TV to work! Two controllers, and it seemed to be locked in to someone else's Netflix etc accounts.
Location
Very disappointing stay. We were not given the room we had paid for, walked in on a couple due to poor room allocation, and the facilities were below standard.
Clean, quiet, and brilliant facilities for hikers! If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay in Wooler, Arlington House Hotel is a perfect choice. Our room was spotlessly clean and very well-maintained. We loved the kitchenette, which allowed us to put together a lovely cheese platter and enjoy a relaxing evening. The hotel is incredibly quiet and feels like a calm retreat. It is also exceptionally well-equipped for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring a laundry room, a drying room, and a handy boot room for muddy shoes. We would definitely stay here again!
The location was perfect, right on Wooler high street, central and easy access to areas we wanted to visit. The communications were excellent throughout and we had responses to any questions really fast. The apartment was great, with a small kitchenette area, microwave coffee maker were nice touches. Bathroom is big so is the waterfall shower. No complaints whatsoever and we will book again, if its available, when in the area. A big thank you to the hosts, highly recommended. AAAAA+++++++++++
Nothing
It was clean and comfortable and had everything I needed. It was close you shops and pubs. Had a huge TV as I could open the windows.
There was no power point in the bathroom, so I had to stand in the little kitchen to use the dryer. If I had been with a partner, that would have been a bit squishy if he had wanted to get to the kitchen. The freezer of the fridge had not been defrosted in ages so there was a build up of ice making it hard to put anything in it. I needed to freeze some ice blocks for my medication, and they only just fitted with no room for anything else. I could not turn up the volume on TV as the remote wouldn't allow this so I couldn't watch TV. One of the chairs was very loose and when I sat on it and leaned back a little the chairs was wobbly. Communication was not good. I left 3 messages, one on booking.com and 2 on different land lines asking someone to call me re these issues but no one called back. There was only 2 hr street parking (Mon-Sat). There was free parking about 500 meters away which was NOT suitable for someone with mobility issues. If I had been notified at the time of booking that I had to walk that distance with bags or that I would gave to being the car round, unload my bags, then drive yo the parking lot and walk back to the accommodation, I would NOT have booked here for 2 nights. There was also a large patch of mold on the ceiling which I put down to me NOT feeling very well during my stay. The lid of the sugar container was broken.
The room was perfect and had everything that we needed for our one night stay whilst walking along St Cuthberts Way.
The whole thing. The hotel was lovely. The location was fantastic.
Nothing. Would highly recommend
Beautiful room, modern, clean and comfortable
Nothing. It was great
Very comfortable bed and very attractive spacious room with table to sit at as well as armchair. Very spacious spotless bathroom. High quality bedding & towels. Checkin process very easy.
No instructions for free wifi. Just 1 milk sachet & no capsules for coffee machine.
Location was good and the rooms were clean.
One of the rooms had no curtains or blind, only a piece of voile. The second room took over half an hour to gain access due to a battery problem with the key pad and the time for someone to respond. On entering, the room was very foisty smelling and had a big damp patch on the ceiling. It was however clean.
Very stylish and newly decorated. Comfy beds and very quiet. The shower was superb and the kitchenette facilities were very much appreciated
The electronic key pads to enter didn’t work for us or other guests. The owners did respond however.
Nice clean and comfortable and quiet in great location
No complaints
Really convenient and easy access.
Could do with a couple of maintenance jobs doing, but nothing to worry about
Very stylish rooms. Comfortable bed. Hot shower
I think calling this a hotel is a bit of a stretch. Its more like serviced rooms. Everything is done remotely. It wasnt very clean. Hair in shower. Bin hadn't been emptied. No toilet roll. Our second room didn't have a blind so hard to sleep. Kitchen area lacked some basics.
The property was well located, clean and the communication for the self check-in was very good.
It would have been helpful if there was some toilet paper available and if the main light worked.
A great location, with a nice shower and comfortable bed. Albeit small, the furnishings of the room were nice and well kept
We did not receive our check in information until an hour or so before we were meant to check in. When we tried calling and texting the emergency number provided, we heard nothing back - only to find that the number we had been provided had changed. The blinds in the room were paper thin. This meant that not only did we not sleep well due to the street light right outside the room, but we were woken up before 6am as the sun rose. The room was also described to have a kitchen, which we later found consisted of a kettle, mini fridge and coffee machine (but no pods). We had already bought food to cook (just microwave meals) but could not cook these in the room. A sign on the back of the door said that there was a communal kitchen which we could not find (we assumed it had been turned into another room). By this point all the pubs in the village had stopped serving food so we ended up at the kebab shop and much of the food we bought was wasted.
I found the place really cosy, functional, and convenient. Cleanliness was mostly good, and the host was fairly good with communicating throughout the stay and before as well. The 72h car park at the end of the street was a handy backup. Washing machine and dryer were helpful additions too.
The front parking was completely full when I arrived. The carpet was also a bit mucky, and no pods were provided for the coffee machine.
Easy check in. Good sized room. Very central in Wooler. Peaceful. Good shower.
Nothing really. One or two slight maintenance issues but didn’t particularly impact on my stay.
Very nicely decorated and good facilities
The only moan was the noise from the pubs nearby but hey it’s holiday time
Clean, convenient
Communication with the staff was haphazard. Published phone numbers were not answered (although responses to texts were prompt ). No shower gel in one property (an emission given we were walking a long distance trail!)
The space and location
Only thing was that it said washing machine and dryer but there was not one.
The room was well equipped, clean and comfortable. The location in the centre of Wooler was great.
The booking system was very confusing and caused me a bit of stress.
We were unable to access the property despite attempting for 90 minutes to contact the owner/agent using the information on the door. We then gave up and booked the last alternative accommodation (at a higher price) in the area after which an email finally arrived (at 6.05pm) too late but with access details. We appear not to have been the only travellers to have experienced such problems!
Nothing because we couldn't get in
Not being able to get in or make contact with anyone who could help. Not being assured of a refund for something we could not use
Very clean, well appointed and very good location
Very easy to access. Was room to store my bike in the utility room.
Well decorated bedrooms , comfortable king size bed and great bathrooms.
The accommodation was quiet, comfortable and well set up, it was nicely decorated and was a relaxed place to stay. The entrance stairs were also nicely decorated and carpeted. We were staying for 6 days, so were pleased that towels and teabags etc were topped up part way through the stay. The location was very central to explore Northumberland with a car, and 2 minutes walk from a Coop and nice restaurants. We recommend Milan, Hotel no1 and Ad Gefrin. Parking was easy at the nearby free carpark. We didn't use them, but a shared washer and dryer, and lockable boot lockers would have been ideal for wet walkers.
This is self check-in, but we were told that there was a number to contact if there was a problem. As there was no hairdryer (as promised) we called this number and left a message. Having no response by the next day we sent a further 2 texts. We also tried messaging twice .via Booking.com. After 4 days we finally got an email response, saying sorry and that it would be sorted, but it never was. Lack of hairdryer was an inconvenience but not serious, our concern was that if we had a more serious problem the emergency contact didn't seem to exist. Without this concern we would happily return, but that failure in communication is putting us off.
Great location, a comfy room with everything we needed
The other guests or residents made noise from 7am both days. The front door slammed shut every time they left or came back and this made our windows and door rattle. Only one window opened in the room, the other two were painted shut
Good location, easy PIN code access, very clean room
The room was a good size, the bed comfortable, the paint fresh, it was good that it had some facilities for catering, I liked that I could heat up a meal and make some breakfast and there was a fridge to keep things cool, the shower was good and plenty of room in the bathroom.
The carpet and the bed cover didn't look clean and there was mince in the sink under the wash bowl which wasn't mine.. There were only wine glasses. A couple of small straight glasses would have been useful. There was a lot of noise inside the building. There seemed to be no insulation between rooms and I could hear every movement upstairs and whenever any door opened and closed the whole room vibrated. Voices on the landing were so loud I thought they might be about to enter my room. There was a long list of terms and conditions. That's not normal for any kind of hotel. I was supposed to get ID checked by stripe but I only had my bus pass which stripe didn't accept so they didn't insist. But I find this request odd. They already have my name and address and payment It was expensive and I think I've had better service in much cheaper rooms. Satisfaction for the room would be between a straight mouth and a small smile.
I could not get the door code for my stay. I could not access the property. For anyone booking make certain you have the access code not the Booking.com pin.
The shower room was good. Good shower and toiletries provided.
Room austere and completely lacking in decoration, finesse, and comfort. Lighting terrible, no side lamps, a broken Roman blind that couldn’t be raised, broken wall light, rip in the bed throw and missing cutlery. Cheap looking white table for eating. The bedroom was more like hostel accommodation rather than hotel accommodation! Kitchenette area was ok. Shower room was good. We were in the ground floor room called Cold Law - beside front door which slammed shut with such force the whole room shook. Would recommend trying somewhere else.
The hotel is tastefully decorated, the facilities in the room were good and the location in the centre of Wooler is very convenient for walkers on St Cuthbert’s Way.
A room change had taken place without my knowledge or consent and I was never informed about this. As a result, upon arrival I could not access the room I had booked, because it was already occupied by other guests. I tried calling the hotel multiple times but could not reach anyone. The only response I received was a very short email repeating my original check-in information and referring me to a customer service number that was also unreachable. So if a problem occurs during self check-in, there appears to be nobody available to actually help resolve it, which is not ideal after a long day of hiking. I ultimately had to resolve the situation myself by speaking to the other guests, after which it became clear that they had been moved rooms due to medical equipment needs. I had specifically booked a room with a bath after several long walking days, but was moved to a room with only a shower. The blackout blind shown in the room photos was also missing, making the room very bright early in the morning.
Location is great
The facilities were lacking, cutlery limited and only one glass one loo roll and only one bin liner between three bins, still no cupboard knob so had to open the fridge door to get the next cupboard door open for plates, small details I recommended last time we stayed.
Very good value for money. Good shower & comfortable room. Cafe along the street ideal for breakfast.
Nothing
Location.
Mould in bathroom on window. Shower hanging off the wall, so daren't use it in case it caused water leak. Mould in bedroom area on ceiling. Ceiling had been badly repaired where there had clearly been a water leak. Tried contacting staff, left 3 voice messages and a text message, but never heard from anybody. We stayed for 2 nights, so had to wash at the sink.
No meals were provided- breakfast was I believe an option provided by a hotel down the road. Lovely location on Wooler High Street, bakery, Coop, pubs and takeaways all within easy walking distance. Large, bright room and decent bathroom.
Room was a little bit tired- some of the items on the inventory were missing; would have been a problem if I was part of a couple, one of the blinds didn't work properly, neither did one of the bedside lights. No toilet paper in the room on arrival (found some in the boot room down the hall). Had not been hoovered under the bed recently. Something needs to be done about the front door- unless it is closed carefully it slams violently- this is just beside your head if you are sleeping in Cold Law- very much not appreciated when people use the door at 5am as happened to me.
Good location....
Communication was non existent, sent maybe 6 messages without a single reply. Dirty....huge cobwebs & dust hanging off the kitchen unit. Limited supplies, no coffee, only 1 spoon. Walls & ceilings thin so you could hear everything in the building.
Very clean great location ideal for a nice couple day break
Lovely clean room and bathroom facilities.
No curtains or blinds on window, just a flimsy see through curtain lining, and I was therefore awakened at 5.30am with room being very bright. I telephoned the owner, left voicemail and sent an email asking about a room with curtains, but still haven't received a reply. Disappointing. Do not expect to see anyone or experience any type of customer service.
Nice decor. Dogs can stay but should be booked into ground floor rooms not in the attic.
Recent new ownership meant the suite was understocked with insufficient cutlery, crockery, toilet paper. Utility area and back yard filthy and a potential rat hazard with lots of overflowing bins in the yard and food remains spread about. Didn't want to let my dog go out there despite the host suggesting it. Host had very little local knowledge eg. where to park so you don't have to pay and be in a restricted time bay. We were staying a week so luckily manged to find free parking on the side street beside the property. Hadn't been warned on booking that our room was up several flights of stairs - too far given the amount of luggage we had and some mobility issues
Good location on the high street of Wooler, very close to several pubs and restaurants. And the main road was only a minute away to go further afield. Room was comfortable, nicely decorated and spacious. Enjoyed the seating area and kitchenette. Bathroom also nicely presented. Boot room on ground floor provided more useful facilities. Door codes were provided by email and had no issues using them.
Floor under beds was dusty and a piece of litter there too, seen this on other reviews before booking so I looked when I arrived. It just needs vacuuming more often.
It was well maintained and clean.
The drain in the sink was very smelly. We didnt have a spare toilet roll so had to go and find a new one when it ran out. We had trouble finding the place and had to ask for the entrance code, would have thought this would have been sent prior to our arrival. The telephone number provided on your system wasn't answered. We didnt know what room we were in and had to try the number at each door to find our room. Won't be recommending this place or staying there again.
The room was amazing and so spacious.
Nothing
Location and amenities are great, comfortable and fresh
Could do with blackout blind
Stylish, clean, good instructions
Would be good if there was a way of stopping the front door from clashing
Whole room
Nowt
Loved our room and it's size, lovely space, had everything we could want and felt relaxed, lovely building and self check in was easy no issues
The room was very clean and a nice modern design. The bed was comfy and the smart tv was a treat
Nothing it was great
Finished to a beautiful standard. Love that it had electric keypads and didn’t have to worry about a key.
Had a nespresso machine but no pods. Seemed a bit pointless. Would’ve been nice for a couple of teabags. But just nitpicking
The room was a great size, bed was very comfortable and it was clean. Excellent location.
