They advertised it as an international buffet, but the food selection was quite ordinary and didn’t feel like an international buffet at all. Also, people who arrived a little late barely had anything left to try. Overall, it was quite disappointing.

We stayed at Citrus Hikkaduwa for one night as 2 adults and 1 child, on a half-board package. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional throughout our stay. The breakfast was also excellent, with a very good international buffet selection. However, I was disappointed with the dinner experience. Our booking was for half board with a buffet dinner, and we were charged the buffet price. However, dinner was not served as a buffet; instead, we were given a 3-course set meal. While the food itself was acceptable, I expected the dinner service to match what was included in the booking and the price we paid. Overall, we had a pleasant stay, and I would especially appreciate the excellent service from the staff. However, I hope the hotel will improve the communication and consistency regarding the half-board dinner arrangement, so guests receive what they have booked and paid for.

Great value, the room was comfy, had enough space, good shower pressure. The view from the room was nice. Great service from the staff especially Tharindu during breakfast. Good proximity between beach, restaurants and bars.

The Buffet could have had a little more variety, a little bit repetitive. Was suprised that there was no cheese at all for any of the buffets.

Room, Dinner. Whenever we want to go inside the room, we had to call staff to open the Front door. Door lock was not working properly. Then we had to chose the Balcony door to go outside without locking it.

Breakfast is not satisfactory enough to match 4 star level. Location is satisfied.

We enjoyed our stay overall, but unfortunately, the food was not up to our expectations considering the amount we paid. We felt that the quality and variety of the food could have been better for the price. Hopefully, this can be improved in the future.

It’s impressive to see a hotel with such a long history, dating back to the 1970s, still maintaining its reputation and charm. The rooms are spacious, the ocean views are stunning, and the pool area is a great place to relax. What truly makes this hotel stand out is its people. From the moment we arrived until we checked out, the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. We were welcomed by a bellman with a genuine smile and excellent hospitality, setting the tone for the rest of our stay. The front office team was also professional and attentive throughout. One thing I wasn’t particularly fond of was the breakfast identification system. Initially, we were asked to wear wristbands, which felt a little outdated. One evening, while looking through the à la carte menu by the beach, I noticed it lacked a few simple classics like fish and chips. I casually asked Chinthaka, who was serving us, if it was possible to have it even though it wasn’t on the menu. Without hesitation, he spoke to Chef Nandasena, and they went out of their way to prepare it. It turned out to be absolutely delicious. As someone working in the hospitality industry, I truly appreciate these thoughtful, personalized touches. They create memorable guest experiences, and both Chinthaka and Chef Nandasena deserve recognition for going the extra mile. The following morning, Chinthaka welcomed us again at breakfast, which added another personal touch to our stay. The breakfast spread was decent, though I felt there was room for improvement with a wider variety. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. The spacious rooms, beautiful beachfront location, excellent pool, and, above all, the outstanding hospitality from the staff made our visit memorable. Citrus Hikkaduwa proves that while facilities are important, it’s the people who truly make a hotel special. I would gladly return. It reads as a genuine review by someone with hospitality experience while acknowledging both the strengths and the few areas that could be improved.

We had an amazing time at Citrus Hikkaduwa. The staff were so attentive to our needs, and they even approved our late checkout. They had lovely buffets and live cooking stations for all meals. There was a server called Amanda in the buffet section who was very sweet and kind, and she provided exceptional service. It was an amazing time and a great break for us as a family. It's near Turtle Beach and also near Hikkaduwa Beach, where you can swim in nice, shallow waters. Highly recommend this hotel.

Hello, even if you say Citrus Hikkaduwa is a 4-Star Hotel on your website, that was not the truth. Citrus Hikkaduwa is a 3-Star Hotel. Please do NOT mislead guests. You ought to get the right information. And the washroom was very small that the water gets all over the floor even after a quick hand-wash. Then, as a result, when walking out of the washroom into the room you would make the same very dirty. There are issue with the plumbing.

Me and my family visit citrus hikkaduwa on last Saturday and had a nice experience. Staff was very friendly and professional. Specially need to mention Tharindu at Reservation provided us every detail very clearly and professionally. His passionate of handling us really made to visit the hotel. And at the arrival he spoke to us. It felt a lot since our reservation done over the phone. overall experience at Citrus hikkaduwa was really nice.

We stayed here for one night and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is very clean, and the entire team is friendly, welcoming, and attentive. A special thank you to Ms. Dinusha and Mr. Dammi, who was in charge of the pool, for their exceptional hospitality and kindness. They truly made our stay even more enjoyable. The only area that could be improved is the food menu. While the meals were very tasty, there was limited variety, especially when it came to the curries and desserts. Expanding the selection would make the dining experience even better. Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend this hotel for its excellent service and warm hospitality.

We are coming for with my family. Its really nice location in hikkaduwa. Becah front lication is beautiful and views are simply amazing. The rooms were clean comfortable and well manitained. So I really like to stay here. And aslo menshion food was was delicious with a good variety. What made the stay truly special was the friendly and attentive staff. We stayed at Citrus Hikkaduwa for our company annual trip and had a wonderful experience. The hotel has a great location with a beautiful pool and easy access to the beach. The staff were friendly and supportive throughout our stay. A special thanks to Mr.Nelum for coordinating everything so smoothly for our group. They were not kidding with "beachfront", you can walk straight into the sand and the ocean, the views are fantastic. The staff are super kind and sociable people, Dammi was a really sweet and helpful staff member, they are respectful and swift with delivery of food and drinks also. The pool is beautiful and not too cold with so many sunbeds to choose from. I am a female solo traveller and they have made me feel so welcome at this hotel.

Things are tough for this area. Low occupancy means short cuts are occurring. Lovely staff trying their best with the limits from management.

Bed sheets were dirty and had sand in the bed. Floor was gritty as well. Staff cleaning lobby at 3:30am made sleep impossible. Breakfast buffet was disappointing, felt as though food was being stretched to its maximum “use by”. Didn’t end up eating in fear of becoming ill.

We came to hotel with my girlfriend 21st of April, I like to say many staff members are know to me. Big Thank to the Front office team- Malsha and Nethmi was very helpful and friendly. I had a very disappointing stay at Citrus Waskaduwa. From the moment we arrived, the experience was far below expectations. The food was extremely poor in quality and lacked variety. It did not meet even basic standards, and we were quite unhappy with every meal. The accommodation was also not satisfactory. The room was not well maintained, and cleanliness was below average. It definitely did not feel like a comfortable or relaxing stay. The room service was slow and unprofessional. Requests were either delayed or not handled properly, which made the stay even more frustrating. Overall, the service, food, and facilities were all disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfortable stay.

That said, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the start of our stay was a bit difficult. While the Front Office staff were polite, they seemed reluctant to smile or engage in conversation, which made the check-in experience feel less welcoming than expected. However, the manager stood out with a warm smile and a more approachable attitude, which was appreciated. A very special mention goes to Damith, who assisted us during check-in. He was outstanding friendly, professional, and confident in what he was doing. He handled everything smoothly and turned around our initial experience. Staff like him truly make a difference, and he deserves to be recognized and appreciated. The pool staff were nice and attentive, and the Food & Beverages team was also friendly and accommodating. Overall, while the property and initial experience could improve, the efforts of standout staff members like Damith helped make the stay better.

We stayed at Citrus during the New Year, and it was a great experience, the staff were very friendly special thanks to Ravindu at reception for being so helpful and kind.Only downside was no alcohol on the 14th, but it’s understandable 😜 Overall, a lovely stay !

Staff are friendly

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. To begin with, the rooms were not comfortable and definitely not worth the price charged. I had specifically booked a sea view room, but upon arrival, I was given a standard room instead. Only after I raised the issue was my room changed to the correct category. Even after the room change, basic amenities were lacking. There were no towels provided initially, and I had to request them separately, which should not be the case in a properly managed hotel. The food was also below expectations. There was very limited variety, and the overall quality needs significant improvement. Overall, the hotel has a lot to improve in terms of service, room quality, and dining experience. I believe the management, including the owner Mr. Dilith Jayaweera, should be made aware of these issues to ensure better service for future guests.

After checking out, we discovered that a wedding ring had been left behind in our room. Upon returning to the hotel, the staff handled our distress with the utmost professionalism and urgency. While the entire team was supportive, I would like to specifically commend Mr. Chinthaka for his extraordinary efforts. He demonstrated incredible dedication, leading a meticulous search of the room and even personally sorting through the refuse multiple times to ensure nothing was overlooked.
