High Peaks Hotel

Good sized rooms and well appointed bathrooms, plus they were of a very good size.

The key we were given for our room did not work; we had to change rooms. Lack of cutlery & crockery, not enough for two and who only provides forks? Nice big king size bed, but side tables had been removed from the headboard, nowhere to put your phone, book or glass of water. Wifi was very flaky kept dropping in and out. The site only had one toaster and that was located outside the restaurant/ bar areas. There was mould in the fridge

Large comfortable room - very good en suite and shower. The only staff member we saw, who seemed to be doing everything, was friendly and helpful. Parking right outside room.

More a motel than a hotel which has all the signs of being in financial difficulty. Grounds are really scruffy and the place looks a mess. Restaurant/bar apparently closed permanently. Reception only open limited hours. Our TV didn't work and sign on bedroom wall said aerial was broken. Why not fix it we thought! Very overpriced as it is now. Having said all that, our room was great and we had a comfortable stay. Pity really; the place has plenty of potential.

Parking was great. Nice enough outlook and away from any noisy areas. On the road to Lake Matheson which was well worth seeing. Room and bathroom were roomy enough and dark enough to sleep.

Room definitely needed a refurb. Blow waver had tape across it, so as to not to use it. TV didn't work because of some aerial problem. Lid of toilet seat leaning on bathroom wall and toilet seat a bit loose - there was a sign to be careful with this. The grounds of the hotel looked like they needed some TLC. Microwave and toaster on a table outside on the veranda with a cord going inside. Wasn't sure whether these were available to use or waiting to be thrown out.

This accommodation is falsely advertised; it is not a hotel it did not provide food and drink. We occupied 2 rooms. In both some things were good, some were appalling. A tired looking rectangle of buildings with high weeds in the center of the gravel car park., and an unused wing which had once been a restaurant. We struggled to find the entrance to our room which was not signed and was hidden by 2 large linen trolleys. We shared a large clean room with a comfortable bed and comfortable leather chairs. The shower was good. The television was not working, nor were the bed side lights. There was only cold water in the kitchen sink, 1 teaspoon, 2 forks and a bottle opener, 4 glasses and 2 cups and saucers, no knives or plates. A sign in reception suggested that guests strip their bed linen when leaving. The second room with 2 beds, had a plastic lavatory seat that was cracked across the middle. The split was covered with 2 pads which could have been sanitary napkins or tissues, bound with tape. The seat was insecure and could be lifted off. The toilet paper ran out, and there were no spare rolls. Like the other room there was a reminder "Please note the television is currently not working due to a broken tv antenna. we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding," By the look of the signs they had been there a considerable time. We would not recommend this accommodation. It is not a hotel; it does not provide food or drink and is some distance from the township. It is not value for money.

We had two rooms here - we had the original room which was booked via booking.com (room 18) the first thing was the toilet seat fell off as soon as the lid was lifted. The reception did a temporary fix. The grounds made the place look unloved. the "Restaurant" was a toaster balance on top of a microwave oven on the verandah outside. We foolishly checked in for another night (Room 14) here the toilet seat was broken IN HALF! Really not happy for $225 / night and to top it all they offered guest laundry but I was informed that the machine is broken. Had to go to another town to do my laundry,.

Nothing We didn’t end up staying the site on booking dot com says it has a restaurant, they don’t at all and then when I asked the girl how to make the tv work she said sorry they have asked the bosses to fix the tvs ( none of them work ) the bosses won’t do it . The outside was run down and not mowed just looked awful . We left couldn’t get refund and drove and paid for another nights accommodation elsewhere

The linen was clean and there was plenty of hot water (but much of it ended up on the floor as the shower leaked!)

The property is poorly maintained, many of the advertised facilities are either not there, broken or simply unavailable . No toilet paper was available on the property, the antenna to all the TV’s was damaged and not repaired. The owner is not on the property and relies on an inexperienced overworked lady who is responsible for reception, cleaning the rooms and handling all the other jobs including dealing with multiple customer complaints.

Beautiful views from our windows. Quite place. Within walking distance of local restaurants. Plenty of parking outside. Spacious room. Only 30 min drive to franz joseph

Restaurant and bar permanently closed. Washing facilities were broken but we recognise that guests can be heavy handed with these things.

Visually it was a mess. Weeds and long grass everywhere. There was a toaster and microwave available but they were outside on a deck with a plug out the window.

Room 18 was smelly, water leaking from bathroom shower into bedroom, carpet in doorway was soaking wet. Staff was aware of it and didn't offer to change rooms, nothing was done about it after asking for owner/ manager. No other room available. No TV or streaming service, there was no reception. Staff was aware of it. No bedside tables or shelves. Noisy from neighbours.

Unable to get TV to work,bad mouldy smell which appeared to be coming from the bathroom, the shower cubicle leaked severely which appeared to be not properly sealed, this possibly is why the smell is so bad the water appears to have got under the vinyl and the partitioning wall. Online presentation was misleading. This property is not a hotel as there is no onsite restaurant/bar it is a motel only.

Fox glacier village.

On arrival to the hotel the exterior was overgrown and neglected. One of the signs was broken. The restaurant and bar had obviously been closed down for a long time. Our room - the bed cover was stained/soiled. The toilet seat was broken in half and taped together with plastic bags. I mentioned the broken seat and was given a polite sorry. The sheets and towels were fresh and clean. The fridge was dirty. No utensils. We were booked for two nights - the room wasn’t serviced. The area is busy where accommodation and catering is in demand. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, approximately 1 mile walk to village for food/staples.

Das Hotel ist in einem Zustand der Vernachlässigung. Die Zimmer sind extrem aufdringlich parfümiert. einige der Lampen funktionierten nicht. Es gab nur eine Minimalausstattung. Es gab einen Toaster für das ganze Hotel und der stand draussen. Unappetitlicer und dreckiger geht nicht.

The staff are amazing…. My partner and I got food poisoning and the staff helped me book another room for the night when rooms in the area were scarce.

Our second room had no fans and the tv didn’t work

The hotel was more of a motel but that was fine. The bed was super comfy and we had restricted views of the mountains.

The fridge didn’t work very well, the internet was patchy and we couldn’t get the Netflix service to work on the television. Because people are allowed to park directly in front of their room, and patio doors open onto the parking area, we were woken by very early risers starting up their cars. But these are quibbles rather than complaints. The room served our purposes, and the visit to the Fox Glacier and the Franz Joseph Glacier were the highlights of a fabulous holiday - yes, better even than Milford Sound!

Beautiful location, big room with everything provided, good bathroom with nice shower. Convenient parking. Exceptional view even from the room/bed. Absolutely stunning location!

Grundsätzlich in die Jahre gekommen und ich hatte schmutzige Bettwäsche. Eklige Flecken die übel ausgesehen haben (ich gehe mal davon aus dass das Zeug schon gewaschen wurde ...) Aber naja, schmutzige Wäsche gehört entsorgt und nicht auf das Bett der Gäste! Leider war die Reception nicht besetzt und ich konnte vor Ort nichts unternehmen, so habe ich im Schlafsack übernachtet! Toilette war ebenfalls nicht sauber und die Tassen hatten Rückstände. Zimmerreinigung blieb aus, alsi ich abends jeweils zurückkehrte war alles wie ich es verlassen hatte! Klar, es ist kein 5-Stern Hotel, aber sauber darf und soll es trotzdem sein! Schade, ich würde da nicht mehr hingehen!

Nothing, was a nightmare since we got there. Paid full price for 4 people and only place for 3 people to sleep. The room was extremely hot 🥵 and the toilet seat wasn't fitted and risk for sliding off the toilet. My adult daughter slept on the floor, really after speaking to the Manager on the phone, she didn't want to list to what my husband was saying. There were no that was available to go to in Fox glacier. We had to stay but left the next morning early. This is not a hotel but a dump. Not recommend it to anyone and shouldn't be on trivago. We rate it minus 10

Habían unos huéspedes en una habitación cercana a la nuestra que se comportaban asquerosamente. Dejaban la puerta abierta con una Biblia en el piso, eran ruidosos incluso en altas horas de la noche, ensuciaban, dejaban cosas en el pasillo de las habitaciones, etc. Lo preocupante es que nadie les decía nada.

Leider entsprach der Aufenthalt nicht den Erwartungen. Die Einrichtung ist stark veraltet und sehr einfach gehalten. Im Badezimmer befand sich Schimmel, und in der gesamten Unterkunft herrschte ein muffiger Geruch. Zudem war die Sauberkeit insgesamt unzureichend. Angesichts dessen war der Preis nicht gerechtfertigt.

We paid for 8 beds. We received 3 beds. We were expected to all share beds and then we were charged for a pull out bed when really it should have been provided for free. One adult in our group had to share with 2 kids. Also, the beds were classified as king beds but were just two single beds pushed together which made the sheet slip off. This place charges high end motel prices but it runs like a below average hostel. Never again.

Broken washing machine, bad wifi (stayed also in a dormitory nearby and it wasn't the case there), cold restroom. This is ok for a cheap motel, but paying 220nzd/day you expect a better quality.

The room was very dated, toilet seat broken, hairdryer broken, duver cover dirty, receptionist didnt speak english, have stayed here before and it has gone downhill a lot and for 285$ a night, definitely not worth it, wont come back again
