It's a lovely spot in the countryside, nice pub and the rooms are cute and tidy. Shower was working great too.

From before our stay the staff here were so accomodating and welcoming! Rooms are comfortable and sparkling clean. The food was unreal. It was a relaxed visit, good craic with the staff and the whole experience was just 10/10

The landlord Chris was amazing! He couldn’t have done more for us Everything we asked about he did his very best to sort it for us he even offered to take us to the wedding we were going to as we didn’t want to take 2 cars!! Food was great for our evening meal and lots on offer for continental breakfast- in with the price - such good value for money He looked after us so well - thank you Chris and thanks to your other staff too -everyone was lovely to us.

Yes it’s a bit tired but we realise it costs a lot of money to totally update an old property - and the cost was such good value. Despite its age it was spotlessly clean( and I mean that - really clean !) and the bedding and towels were fantastic - superb quality and the beds so comfy .

Coffee machine- we wanted to use it but couldn’t work it as didn’t want to break it! Maybe a cooked breakfast option would have been nice- didn’t realise it was so self service!

The location was what we needed so at least that was something.

Sadly I must assume the pictures were taken quite a while ago as the whole place looks very tired. There was nobody there in reception and the door was just wide open so anybody could have access to the rooms. Our room was clean but very dated and in need of a freshen up. The bed was so lumpy it felt like I was sleeping on metal fence. The Ensuite was adequate again dated and in need of a freshen up. Breakfast was a continental buffet but when we arrived at 8.30am there just an open loaf of bread with some cereal and sadly no hot water to make tea or coffee, I couldn’t find anyone to assist us so we left without having breakfast. Last night we decided to eat in the pub which was like the rooms looking tired and dated. My fish and chips arrived cold in the middle, the staff did replace the meal and didn't charge us for it but that put me off having anything else.

Voor een nacht is het prima. Bed was goed, douche ook.

Het is gedateerd, niet heel schoon. We hebben niemand gezien, alles communicatie gaat via mail of whatsapp. Ook het ontbijt is doe-het-zelf.

Comfortable beds with free continental style breakfast. Very useful when we stayed for the festival of speed :)

Didn't realise our room only had a bath but that's probably my fault. Decor is a little dated but it's okay. Ideally needs aircon

La chambre....au 2eme, à l'aspect rustique, grande chambre et sdb avec baignoire ! Lit correct un peu mou Grand parking Calme pendant la nuit Déjeuner industriel pour les pains et viennoiseries, lait, yogourt, jus, .,..

Bruit des extracteurs....d'une autre chambre qui utilise l'eau.... Du calme relatif une fois 7h du mat....la route est proche mais évidemment c'est une auberge de bord de route 😉 Ancienne baignoire sans pommeau de douche !

The room was a little compact but no particular issues. A good bath/shower and tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was comfortable.

Nimic. De la personalul care se ceartă de față cu tine ca să se decidă ce cameră să îți dea - până la camerele de cazare care nu respectă standardele unui hotel de 4 stele. Nu înțeleg de ce apare cu 4 stele, fiindcă mai mult de 2 stele nu are. Este ca un motel, în niciun caz hotel. Este pub cu câteva camere de închiriat.

Te pun să plătești camera dinainte să o vezi, apoi ai o surpriză neplăcută. Cum am ajuns am fost dusă într-o cameră din podul cladirii - jumate de cameră era aplecată, riscând să îți spargi capul dacă nu erai atent (erai nevoit să mergi aplecat tot timpul). Le-am transmis ca nu este în regulă acea cameră și nu vreau să mă rănesc în ea - în timpul nopții și nici măcar nu este confortabilă; le-am solicitat să verifice dacă mai au vreo altă cameră disponibilă. Nu le-a convenit acest lucru, invocând ca deja a schimbat camera respectiva de 3-4 ori și ca nu se poate. Într-un final au zis ca îmi arată alta camera - era la parter insa era destinata persoanelor cu dizabilități - fiind toată camera și baia adaptată pentru asa ceva. Le-am transmis ca nu este în regulă acea camera, eu am venit acolo sa ma relaxez fiind in vacanta , nu sa mi se facă rău - fiindcă mi se părea insalubra camera. Le-am transmis ca îmi doresc banii înapoi și mi-au zis ca nu se poate, ca ei sunt angajați doar ca să ia banii, nu sa ii și dea înapoi și ca o sa vorbească cu managerul - sa le las ne de telefon ca ma vor contacta ei. Lucru care nu s-a întâmplat! Nu am stat nici măcar 5 minute acolo - mi se părea dezolant.

This was supposed to be AA **** And I would struggle to give it ** First of all the room wasn't configured as requested and reminded. We booked a twin and got a kingsize. Not the end of the world with my son. Then as we tried to get some sleep the bar downstairs kicked off. Shouting until 1am then music was turned on. I understand England winning is a big thing but there was no attempt that we could hear to calm things down. Sorry won't be back and cannot recommend to anyone

I really enjoyed my stay here. The bed was confortable and the staff and landlord were so helpful. They even did me some ice cream when I came in late from a running event. I appreciated the complimentary breakfast, which offered a variety of foods. There was ample parking and the food served in the pub was good. It was nice to have a fan in the room too as the weather was very warm.

I loved the bath but some attachment to wash your hair with would be helpful.

We were made to feel welcomed from the minute we arrived to the minute we left, both by the landlord , staff, and the locals in the bar. We knew we would be late arriving and emailed to let them know, we and knew the kitchen would be closed. But the chef was still there and so he cooked us up ham egg and chips. The room we had was large and lovely. It had a large car park and lovely mature gardens at the back. We will definitely be returning!

Het was niet mogelijk om drinken te kopen omdat de bar en de restaurant op maandag helaas gesloten waren. Er waren geen medewerkers van het hotel aanwezig. Het ontbijt was erg eenvoudig.

No mobile phone coverage, so we lost our internet based navigation once leaving Petersfield. They have wifi at the hotel.

Friendly proprietors. Very comfy bed with spotless, freshly ironed sheets and a lovely view from the bedroom window. Nice and quiet bedroom with everything that was needed - eg a fan ( much appreciated on a warm summer’s evening), tv, nice coffee maker, bathroom with soap, body lotion etc in dispensers. Locals in the bar were friendly, and gluten free food was available. Continental breakfast was complimentary, but I decided to opt for a full English breakfast which was scrumptious!

Towel heater in the bathroom wasn’t needed in June. Felt like it heated the room too.

Stayed overnight while visiting family and booked a few days in advance at a very reasonable rate for the area. The host was helpful in advance and friendly on my arrival. My room was clean, comfortable and well equipped and I enjoyed my dinner in the pub. Next morning I needed to depart at 0530, but I was still able to access the breakfast buffet included with my room rate. Glad I tried The Trooper and will visit again.

All good really. No food on Monday so can't comment on food or drink, but menu looked like good straight forward pub fair. Hard to comment on friendliness of staff, because I didn't see any one, which was fine but a bit eerie.

This hotel is the best one we've stayed in so far its so clean smells lovely the staff are so helpful and polite its a lovely atmosphere in the bar and the food is absolutely banging the portions are big to,the rooms are very clean and the bath is massive the veiws from are bedroom window was breathtaking, we also went on a walk and found a hidden waterfall the scenery was amazing ill definitely b coming back to stay here definitely a family friendly run pub ☺️

Excellent over night stop during stressful house move - couldn't fault it. Great dinner and a fab pint in the pub that evening and a warm welcome - couldn't ask for more.

Rustic old countryside inn with good atmosphere, friendly manager, good quality pub food etc. Plenty of uncomplicated parking. Room a little dated in terms of furnishings, but very comfortable and with good in-room coffee/tea making options, good tv, comfy bed etc. Breakfast is basic, but fine and included in the room price, so no complaints there, plus cooked to order options available for an additional charge (though not sure that’s available every day).

Easy access with easy parking. We only stayed one night and the owner was very accommodating in changing our room to a ground floor position which suited us better for getting baggage in and out. We had a comfortable night and the continental breakfast was just right and fuelled us for a great start to the day. Very convenient for Petersfield and set in beautiful countryside.

Top floor room with no shower and cramped due to eaves of roof line. Room was hot as not well insulated.

Ontbijt was zeer matig. Enkel prefab producten: geen plakje kaas, ham of een eitje. Twee nachten geweest maar geen personeel gezien.

Very welcoming on check-in, a lovely bar and good food still being served when I arrived. Room had recently been redecorated and was very comfortable and quiet - very much appreciated for a good sleep!

WiFi coverage in the room was poor, but TV worked fine and WiFi strength was more than enough in the bar, dining and breakfast areas.

Lovely stay at The Trooper Inn. If I had the time I would have stayed longer than one night. Cosy, friendly pub with a lovely en suite bedroom. The bathroom was sparkly clean, the bed comfy with a self service breakfast that catered for most tastes.

Not informed until after the booking was confirmed that the restaurant did not open on a Monday by which time it was was too late to cancel! Also extremely slow sending pin code for room entry. Our employee was told it would have been sent when in fact it was sent after he'd queried it with someone on site!

Great location and easy to find, fantastic communication from property after booking including a WhatsApp with instructions for keyless entry, room was great and also had a lovely meal in the restaurant.

My son and I were looking for somewhere in this area to stay as we had been invited to a birthday event locally. We were so pleased to discover this lovely place and booked for the weekend. What a find! Super friendly staff, very welcoming and we loved our room. Spotless. Very impressed with the coffee machine!! We enjoyed the food and hospitality. Would highly recommend and look forward to visiting in the future sometime. Thank you Chris and team.

The bedroom was very comfortable, and had everything I needed.

Breakfast was described as continental, but was principally cereals and toast. There was no cheese or cold meat, which is usually found in a continental breakfast.

Last minute booking of a single room but was given a double room with plenty of storage options available after being upgraded on arrival. Friendly greeting on arrival. Food/drink was served in the bar for a short time after my arrival. Fantastic water pressure from the shower. A good variety of breakfast options were available including juices.

Not a major issue for me but there was limited lighting from the carpark up to the key card access to the main building

The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The facilities were lovely and clean and the room well stocked with tea and coffee. All was on a par with more expensive hotels. At no time did we feel rushed or an inconvenience. Would definitely recommend and return.

Great location. Great building.....spacious, warm much cosy, very affordable!! The Boss, Chris, very helpful for a klutz like me who realised when driving halfway to Portsmouth he'd left his wallet on the dresser!! 🤦

No food on a Monday night

Lovely room with a bath, comfortable bed and good pillows. Nice toiletries provided too. A generous amount of tea and coffee in the room with a kettle and a coffee machine. TV has all the apps (you need to use your own account and remember to log out!) A self-service continental breakfast available from 7am. Big car park and lockable bike storage. A 45 min safe cycle to the QECP parkrun. Self checkout as early as you like or late checkout to 11am.

Could be a little noisy from the road / water system if you’re a light sleeper. I always travel with earplugs and it was fine - I slept through midnight on NYE! Big hill to cycle up if you’re coming from Petersfield - not a negative on the property at all but just for info! On the plus side it’s fun coming down!

Nothing it was a lovely stay. A little remote but in a way it’s a plus as well, as has lovely surrounding views and quiet.

I very much enjoyed the evening meal that I had on arrival; really tasty and nicely presented. Thank you! A really comfortable bed and the room was nicely warm without being too hot. Good range within the tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom.

Having to put water into a kettle from the water 'bottle' wasn't easy and I wondered if some jugs of water might have been easier, or to have had the kettles filled up beforehand.

Perfect stop over on way home from ferry.

Bezüglich der Lage weiß man, was einen erwartet ... für mich absolut passend. Zimmer war groß, sauber und sehr angenehm. Personal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Frühstück war auch in Ordnung. Ausreichend Parkpläzte vorhanden. Im zugehörigen Pub leckeres Abendbrot.
