A family run pub with rooms. We were a little under the weather and the Maitre D gave my husband a complimentary magic Italian alcoholic herbal apperitif which was much appreciated and seemed to hit the spot!

The staff were lovely and really accommodating. We were welcomed at the Beer Festival happening that evening and although not expected, was good fun and finished up so our good nights sleep wasn't disturbed. The bbq food that night was superb.

The room was hot with no fan/air-con (the rare British heatwave). The en-suite had a damp musty smell.

The food was not good. The continental breakfast was limited and lacked choices. My cooked kipper was over cooked. It was not value for money, no children’s menu.

Quiet location. Good size room. Bed was a bit low and felt very soft, but I slept well!

I was in room 4. It smelt as I entered (possibly bad drains). The smell in the room itself cleared eventually when I flung the windows wide open (off the latch), but persisted in the bathroom.

Breakfast was continental only.this should have been made clear on web site.tea and coffee needed to be asked for. To get the waitress attention needed eye contact as she was wearing headphones. If you require milk for your room tea and coffee ask at the bar the night before as there are no sachets of milk available in the bedroom.

The room was a good size and comfortable. A lovely pub and garden. The staff were very friendly & welcoming, adequate parking. The continental breakfast had a good selection and the dinning area was pleasant.

In room 6 the Wifi was hit & miss, the tv at times buffered because of this. It was a hot few days and the fan was not adequate.

Good location and parking, excellent beds and room. Good meals in the bar and good beer.

A couple more items on the continental breakfast would have been nice, maybe some nice bread with maybe ham and cheese.

Lovely pub garden and pub itself is very lovely, nice atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Dog friendly. Breakfast was simple but very nice. Shame we missed out on lunch as the food looked very nice too and would have loved to taste it.

We arrived at around 2.30pm and our room was already ready to check in which was great. However, when we later came down, around 2.40pm and wanted to order lunch and enjoy the pub garden we were told the kitchen was now closed for food orders. We were quite disappointed as we were not informed they were taking last orders upon arrival as in this case we would have ordered straight away. They technically also advertise last orders being at 2.45 and we were asking for food 5 min before that. I appreciate that last orders have to be called at some point but it would have been better customer service to inform us at check-in so we could have ordered then. It was also disappointing as we then sat in the garden with our drinks and many food orders were still being delivered. We wanted to order pizza and we saw them still being prepared when we wanted to order. The room was good but it was extremly hot and despite the provision of fans did not cool down so it was a quite uncomfortable night. But I appreciate it was a warm weekend.

Recently renovated in a lovely shabby-chic style, the pub is run by an extremely affable landlord. Service was swift and personable. The room was absolutely fine, nicely decorated and the bathroom had quality fixtures (Mira shower, Duravit loo). Maybe the mattress was a bit soft but nevertheless I had a comfortable night's sleep. I stayed the night of the England v Argentina football match so the bar was busy and my room's windows opened over the pub garden but the locals in attendance watching the match on a screen were a personable bunch so the atmosphere was friendly. Food in the bar was excellent and good quality and there was a good choice of beers on tap. Breakfast included in the price was continental and of good quality but not generous. Service and welcome in the morning was fine but not a patch on the previous evening. For example, I wasn't offered tea or coffee.

Apart from the mattress being firmer, nothing, and I realise this is a highly personal preference.

Style, garden, relatively close to Goodwood and ‘Wednesday Pizza evening’ (which were great)

No aircon, no fan, strange smell in our room. Sun was on our side of the building till 8pm, room temp at arrival was above 40c - at 2am opened our windows and front door to try and get some sleep). Friendly staff did arrange a last minute ‘fan’ (vertical hair blower from Amazon ;)) - but made virtually no difference. Had been hot all week (and weather forecast had been predicting this), so would have been pretty simple to arrange proper fans for all rooms. Weather

The location was good. The breakfast was poor. The selection was minimal we were asked if we would like croissants or pain au chocolate and we were presented with one each.

The carpet in the room had stains, the bed squeaked every time you moved, the shower didn't drain so bathroom floor was very wet bathroom lock broken and handle loose, no shelf in shower. Bedside cabinet inside drawers dirty.

Good-sized room overlooking the car park, with a four-poster! Clean and comfortable. Very friendly pub with lots of cricket memorabilia. Good food.

Shower room was a bit tired, but it all worked out.

The pub area and garden were spacious and cool in hot weather. All easy going and generally better than expected.

For what we wanted the Cricketers was in an ideal location, we were cycling King Alfreds Way. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious. there was plenty on inclusive continental breakfast with cooled option for those who wanted it. The beer and wine choice was very good. We also needed somewhere secure to store our bies overnight and this was made readily available to us.

Water pressure is a little low in the showers.

Great pub and accommodation. World Cup in pavilion along with pizza and pint excellent.

Everyone was welcoming and the bed was super comfortable (room 4). We felt well looked after and relaxed during our stay. The fan in the room was a god send during the night.

Chose the pub as it was in the right location for our overnight stop and we were very happy with our choice. Continental breakfast included which was good. Lovely bed linen and a very comfortable bed. We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Ideal location for our visit to the area to attend an event. Both pub and accommodation was really good, pub was beautifully decorated, staff very welcoming, food was really good, service was a little slow but worth the wait, breakfast was just enough and very enjoyable. Our room was exceptionally clean always lovely to see lovely clean bedding and white fluffy towels

We wish we had requested a ground floor room due to having a small dog and having to take him up and down the stairs

Location was ideal of where our commute was to the morning after. Able to park, wasn't too far a walk to the room and that was potentially being the furthest away. My friend was able to charge his electric car, although it was a basic 13amp charge (not super charger) it helped out massively to charge overnight. Staff, food and everything was faultless.

I didn't like the abundance of "free breakfast" being advertised but then near the bottom of the page it then states a cooked breakfast comes at an additional cost. I think it needs to be considered this marketing could potentially cause problems & or cancellations as I was tempted to cancel myself. Not everyone wants a continental breakfast. I think this "free breakfast" needs to be made very clear at the top of the page. Could have done with an iron and ironing board in the room and maybe a mini fridge, also flannels in the bathroom. Apart from these, I would without hesitation stay again and will definitely stay again next year when our golf trip gets booked. Many Thanks Cricketers!!

Staff was friendly, location was convenient and the pub area was adorable.

The rooms need a bit of fresh paint, new carpet and enhancements to the bathrooms.

Cosy restaurant and inn, with lovely food, and staff.

The food was exceptional, and the young members of staff are a credit to the establishment - polite, friendly and helpful. Although not advisable in the dark, I particularly liked that the road into Petersfield had a pavement, so was able to walk into town in the morning (which I was initially a bit worried about as I don't drive).

Cold plates at dinner

Room was lovely. large double, very comfy sleigh bed. We went half board at a very reasonable price which included continental breakfast and a 2 course evening meal off the inn menu. The food was fresh local produce and our steak the first evening was the best we have had for a long time. Staff and owners were very friendly and helpful, especially Sophie who looked after us for our evening meal. The location, just outside Petersfield was lovely for walking our dog and Petersfield itself is a beautiful market town which has a lovely park running around a small lake, right next to the town centre.

Everything was great

We were a large group coming from Ireland to attend a wedding close by, and this was the ideal place to stay. It’s a beautiful, English countryside pub/guest house, with a warm, cozy vibe. Headed by the friendly owner, the staff couldn’t do enough for us all. Highly recommend.

A gorgeous inn with lovely friendly staff. The food was delicious - breakfast was great!

The only negative was the traffic noise at night. The room would benefit from secondary glazing. Other than that, we had a delightful stay.

Das Zimmer war gross und auch das Bad war sauber. Von Vorteil war, das wir unsere Trikes gleich bei der Unterkunft parken konnten. Wir hatten einen lustigen Abend mit Quiz erlebt und auch das Personal war sehr freundlich. Das kontinental Frühstück war sehr gut und ausreichend.

The pub looked lovely, sadly didn’t get to eat there as was attending a wedding. Our room was quiet, comfy beds and nice linen. Really helpful and cheerful staff.

The included breakfast is very basic and we had to pay a supplementary fee for a rather sad and dry bacon sandwich. The room was good for crashing for a wedding but we’d have been sad if we’d booked it for a nice night away.

Excellent food, very welcoming staff and went out if their way to accommodate our early departure prior to breakfast by supplying continental breakfast the night before in our room.

No milk in the room so whilst a great coffee machine there was no option to add milk. Making before the pub opens in the morning prevented a short walk to collect some. Shelf in the bathroom was loose so couldn't be used.

All staff were great. Breakfast was good.
