Staff were amazing, breakfast outstanding

We were generally very happy with our stay at The Bank. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, and breakfast was excellent — generous, very tasty and one of the highlights of our stay. We also enjoyed the pub itself, which had a lively atmosphere and was clearly very popular.

Our room was of a good standard, although perhaps a little below the level we had expected. There were also a few maintenance issues. The shower was extremely hot and the mixer did not seem to be working properly, the toilet cistern repeatedly refilled itself roughly every ten minutes — including throughout the night — and one of the windows could not be opened. As the pub is understandably busy and popular, it could also become quite noisy later in the evening. That said, we liked the pub and enjoyed spending time there, so this was more something to be aware of than a major criticism. We also had an unexpected nighttime evacuation due to a fire alarm, which fortunately turned out to have been caused by a faulty detector. Obviously these things can happen, although it did make for a rather memorable night!

Had to walk to park the car. Not bad, only a 2 minute walk but if disabled it would be a hardship as the walk is uphill.

Wir waren nur für eine Nacht dort und hatten ein grosses Zimmer mit Meerblick. Das Personal war freundlich. Das Morgen- und Abendessen war gut. Der Gratisparkplatz war nicht direkt beim Hotel

Only a slight issue but we were in a building to the side of the main hotel and the people in the room above got up at 4am. They were very noisy and took ages to depart but it meant disturbed sleep for us. This wasn’t the management’s fault but was somewhat annoying!

I loved everything. I think it’s one of the nicest places I stayed in Scotland.

Absolutely nothing. Alex, who checked us in, even helped carry bags upstairs for us.

We liked so many things. Excellent location. Superb. Shops, pubs, and beach right outside your door. Easy 4min walk to pier. Easy 20min drive to see St. Andrews. Easy 900m walk to play golf. Beautiful seaside walk to tide pools in the next town. Easy walk to great restaurants nearby (The Dreel was perfect). Staff was excellent. Some staff was new, but so polite and accommodating. Had fun times at the in-house bar on Karaoke night, at the in-house restaurant, and again at the in-house outdoor beer garden. Good beds, clean, high ceiling rooms. The Bank was a highlight stay during our two week tour of Scotland.

It was hard to find during searches for stays in/near St Andrews. Just got lucky (search on Booking.con) Maybe it’s better to be kept a secret.

The hotel was fantastic all the staff extremely polite and helpful and the standard of cleanliness was exceptional, rooms were attended to daily. The food was lovely and the price was reasonable. Great location for accessing the beach and the main street of Anstruther,we would definitely go back.

Are particular room the deluxe Garden suite was incredibly hot. Even though the heating was not on. The main problem is the noise from the rooms above you can hear every single footstep that people take and that certainly had an impact on our sleep. The patio doors open onto an incredibly small area with a door (that you can’t lock )that leads onto a passage that can be accessed by members of the public and the whole area is very overlooked by the property. It’s right next to the beer garden, we’re lucky that people weren’t drinking there at night but again I’m sure it’ll be very noisy place to try and sleep if people are out on the beer garden.

Our room was lovely and clean. And the staff were very nice.

Everything about the hotel was very good. The only negative was there was only parking for three cars.

The location at the Harbour was beautiful and made walking around the downtown area very easy.

The room that I selected at booking was not the same room as what I saw in the pictures and was much smaller than expected.

Room 6 is big and has the view to the sea and the main street. Breakfast is great with seaview, staffs are friendly and helpful.

John and the staff were amazing. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. We loved the location overlooking the sea. The food was very good. Overall, a welcoming experience. We will be back! Go to the Dreel Tavern while there.

Lage zum Hafen gut. Leider sehr wenig Parkraum, da an einer sehr schmalen Straße gelegen. Parkplatz etwa 500 m entfernt.

Een kamer aan de straatkant, zoals wij er een hadden kun je eigenlijk niet verhuren. Met het raam open rijdt het verkeer met alle herrie dwars door je kamer. Je doet geen oog dicht. Een airco en dubbel glas zouden een uitkomst zijn.

Didn’t realise this was two buildings resulting going out in the teeming rain to go from bedroom to dining room next door. Member of dining room staff vigorously chewing gum should be a no no.

The location was fabulous and our room had a good view. It is nice to have bottled water in the room in a mini fridge. Lots of staff were very pleasant and helpful. It also had a garden for guests. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Room 8- lots of noise from above at night.

Our room was exceptional. Great size with all the amenities needed for an overnight stay. The bed was really comfy. Our dinner which we reserved on arrival was delicious. The views from the restaurant are fantastic. Staff go above and beyond to look after you. We loved everything about our stay - just a pity it was only for one night. But we will definitely stay again.

The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The dinner was excellent. The service was very good. For a boutique hotel with history of the building it was a very nice stay.

Regarding the room, we had twin beds, very comfortable. Loved the high ceilings and large bathroom. Room facing the street was a little loud, but tolerable. Loved the private beer garden out back and ability to order from the table. Breakfast was excellent (service and food, including the smoked haddock!). Window boxes on front of property were beautiful. Great location away from main street, but still walkable. Great views from dining room of town and coastline.

Noise from the street was a little loud with bar emptying out and also garbage truck in morning. One of our windows was stuck open, which could be easily fixed. Did not hear music from bar.

Das Zimmer Nr. 27 liegt im Erdgeschoß auf Gehsteigniveau. Durch Milchglasscheiben sieht man nicht nach draußen, kann aber ständig die vorbeigehenden Leute hören. Durch die unmittelbare Nähe zur Durchgangsstraße ist es die ganze Nacht über sehr laut.

Very disappointed with bathroom in room 27A unclean and drain smells

Food was excellent, as was the view from the dining room.

Room 27b was noisy from the aircon running outside. The outside patio with bbq was small and not inviting but we wouldn't have used it anyway.

Two of our rooms overlooked the street and front of bar which was noisy . There is no parking near hotel . Not easy to drop off luggage either . More assistance could have been offered .

Personalen var super trevlig. Frukosten var fantastisk och maten väldigt god. Man fick välja i en meny det man ville ha och det lagades på beställning. Så gott! En riktigt bra upplevelse! The coastal path var fantastisk. Gå till Crail från Anstruther! Det tar en stund, men det är värt varenda minut.

Jag hade gärna velat ha mer info i rummet om allt man kunde göra i området. Det blir alltid bra om man får direkta tips när man kommer.

Great location for exploring the East Neuk, plenty places to eat and drink in Anstruther although booking a must in high season. Breakfast at the Bank was excellent and staff were friendly, efficient and hard-working. Nice beer garden, with a private section for residents.

Weather was hot and sunny during our stay which meant rooms were rather warm. There was a fan in the room though so not much more hotel can do. Parking could be tricky, with the nearby free car park being pretty busy especially during day-tripper hours. Neither point would put us off staying again though.

Beautiful view from our room. Such a stunning area, can easily get to the beach for a sunset walk. Breakfast is the best and service is amazing! Even had our own lightning show - wow!

Sehr nettes Hotel mit gemütlichem Pub, sehr freundliches Personal, sehr gutes Frühstück und Essen im gemütlichen Dining room mit Meerblick. Das Zimmer war groß, mit sehr bequemem Badezimmer und einem kleinen Wohnzimmer mit Meerblick. Obwohl die Fenster des Schlafzimmers auf die Straße gerichtet sind, war der Lärm sehr erträglich. Wenn ich wieder nach Anstruther käme, würde ich sehr gerne wieder in das The Bank kommen.

Sind sofort wieder abgereist, mussten aber trotzdem nach Beschwerde über den unzumutbaren Zustand des Bades (Schimmel, Kaputte Fliesen überall, stechender Geruch) trotzdem einen reduzierten Preis bezahlen. Es hieß, man solle sich an den Manager per Mail wenden- keine Antwort, über Booking.com konnte man uns auch nicht helfen

Great location. The breakfast is amazing - you get a lot of choice from a nice à la carte menu and everything was really tasty. We also liked the hotel guest beer garden at the back that caught the sun in the afternoon Big room and everything was very clean

The furniture was pretty dated and the mattress wasn’t great - we only stayed one night so not an issue but maybe be for longer stays

The location is amazing!! So close to the Sea!! You can walk to the pier and watch the fishermen and feel the North Sea wind!

The staff for checking in at the bar could be friendlier. Room was very warm. The staff did manage to come up and open the inoperable window to let some air in. The refrigerator did not cool and felt as if it was overheating in the cabinet. Nothing was done about it.

Great location in the town, room was "super size", felt like we were in large apartment. Staff helpful and food good as well.

No onsite parking, but able to "off load" luggage out front and staff told us where we could park the car. Very narrow "old" streets, understandable.

Check in is at the bar, which is beautiful. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good with a great view to the water.

l'emplacement par rapport à la region. chambre spacieuse, claire et très propre. petits dejeuners excellents que l'on prend dans la veranda qui a vue sur la mer (au loin) l'hotel (chambres et parties communes) a été recemment renové : c'est tout en blanc; clair et lumineux. Accueil excellent. Ce petit port est très sympa avec de nombreux restaurants de qualité.

Pour la salle de bain encore : une petite question : pourquoi les anglais s'obstinent ils à mettre un robinet d'eau froide d'un côté du lavabo et le robinet d'eau chaude à l'opposé du lavabo au lieu d'un vrai mitigeur ??! cependant, ce n'est pas seulement dans cet hôtel que la remarque vaut.... Le parking n'est pas proche (200 m) mais ce n'est pas un problème.

Great food,it was a busy pub but the bar staff were on the ball. The rooms were comfortable and had a good shower in bathroom. Breakfast was tasty and plenty to eat.

Nice room and the location provides easy access to town.

There is no parking and even getting to the hotel to check in is a disaster on narrow streets and crazy intersections and ultimately no place to even pull over. Eventually they directed us to a free city parking lot a couple blocks away. Never mentioned these details in the listing. And the pub spilled over onto the sidewalk right outside our room and the uproar kept us awake until past 1am.

Room had an amazing view out to sea. Food at both breakfast and dinner was delicious. Highly recommend the fish and chips. Staff were very attentive and well mannered. Bed was extremely comfortable.

We spent the night at the bank and were very satisfied with the location (a minutes walk from the harbour) and the room was excellent, comfy bed and clean all over, and the shower was good too. Breakfast was superb and staff were very attentive. We had dinner in the restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Parking was limited but it would be difficult to improve due to the narrow streets in Anstruther. Free parking available reasonably close by so no big deal.

The location is great. There are sea view rooms if you want. They have a large beer garden. Breakfast is very good, looks of choice and fresh produce.

There are two rooms which, unfortunately, we’ve been allocated on visits which are located in an old shop premises so have a very large window right onto the street. The window is of course shuttered off but it is still far too close to the outside pavement. The second room is in the basement below this with extremely low ceiling and poor sound proofing to the room above. Rooms 27 A and B are to be avoided.

Lovely big bright room not far from seafront. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Tea and coffee in room was good.

The bed was very soft. We had a room with single glazing overlooking the road so was noisy at night with people outside the pub below and heavy lorries passing by in the morning. The emergent exit light cast a bright green glow around the room. Missing shelf in bathroom so nowhere to put toiletries.

Was Clean big bedrooms and bathroom. Restaurant area lovely views inside and out.

Requested a twin room was taken into a double room asked to be changed which they obliged but we had to wait over 2 hours. Breakfast good coffee needs to be upgraded.
