The atmosphere, the friendly staff, food, pools, rooms was great. I really got value for money. I plan to do a third trip.

The bathroom are too slippery and dangerous when wet. I almost fell. Im talking about the outdoor bathroom near the pools. All so the scenery is nice but its a lot of walking and my parents wouldn't be able to do it. The bathroom in our rooms are very small and has limited space.

Beautiful hotel on the beach with excellent customer service. Estefania and Mario went out of their way to make us feel welcome for our anniversary.

The complex was lovely, the staff were brilliant a real asset to the Barcelo. The restaurants are good but the food in the self service restaurants could be better by changing the selection more often and replenishing the food more often.

My family and I had an absolutely fantastic 10-day stay at Barceló Maya, and a huge part of what made our trip so memorable was the incredible entertainment staff, especially Alberto and Gabriel. From the very first day, they were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of positive energy. They have a natural ability to make everyone feel included and special, and they went above and beyond to make sure we were having a great time at the pool. Whether they were organizing activities, joking around, or simply checking in on us, they always made us feel like more than just guests. What really stood out was how genuine and personable they were. By the end of our stay, it honestly felt like we were saying goodbye to friends rather than hotel staff. They brought so much energy and fun to our days, and their personalities made the pool one of our favorite places to spend time. Alberto and Gabriel are a huge asset to Barceló Maya, and they deserve recognition for the amazing experience they create for guests. Thank you both for making our family trip so special and giving us memories we’ll be talking about for a long time!

Everything was absolutely smooth and amazing from booking to check out. Their gym and spa are beautiful, restaurants especially the Brasserie (French restaurant) exquisite. Overall, the rooms and facilities were clean, food delicious and atmosphere lively!! They have amazing amenities and an outstanding staff. This was our 4th time at Caribe and certainly not our last due to Mr. Bustos and his wonderful staff as they truly understand hospitality. They went above and beyond to accommodate everything best they can. This trip was truly amazing and memorable. I highly recommend this place to all my friends and family!!

Bar. 10/10 Playa 3/10 mucho sargazo Alberca 8/10 en realidad no hay muchas indicaciones pero estan bien Veredicto - 6/10 Esta bien si no vas a estar en el hotel, sino mejor pasa a otro como los xcaret At first glance, it looks very luxurious, very large, with many options. Room 6/10 The air conditioning is very noisy, the dryer doesn't dry anything; it's so old that barely any air comes out. Everything else is okay. Facilities Front desk 1/10 Not friendly at all, arrogant. Restaurant 7/10 (the tacos are good) There's only one buffet, and you don't know if they're going to open or close at any moment; little variety. The others require reservations. Bar 10/10 Beach 3/10, lots of sargassum. Pool 8/10, there aren't many signs, but they're okay. Verdict - 6/10 It's fine if you're not going to be staying at the hotel; otherwise, you're better off going to another one like Xcaret.

Barcelo is a great place for family and friends to stay. I like how neat and tidy it is and how many children stay in this resort.

We had an amazing stay at Barceló Maya Caribe, but one of the biggest highlights was our breakfast waiter, Julian! After just one morning, he recognized our family and quickly learned our routine. Before long, he knew about what time we would arrive each morning and would be waiting for us at the door. Julian always had a table ready with all of our favorite morning drinks already waiting for us. We felt like VIPs every single day! He took the time to chat with us about our stay, ask about our plans, and recommend great places for us to visit. Julian’s incredible service, friendly personality, and attention to detail made every breakfast special. He went above and beyond and truly helped make our vacation unforgettable. Barceló Maya Caribe is lucky to have him. Thank you, Julian—you are amazing!

Awesome experience at the surf lesson with Miriam! My sister and I (both over 30) were scared beginners and were almost pros by the end! Miriam was so patient and friendly. We couldn’t have had a better time! Thanks Miriam!!

Miriam Soberano was so kind, fun and patient during the surf lesson with me and my sister! She was such a great teacher and made the experience so much fun! We had such a great time and would absolutely do it again with Miriam as our instructor!!

This was our first visit to an all inclusive resort. We are a longtime cruising family. This experience for the value vs. a cruise was fabulous. This segment of the resort providing a centralized location between all sites. There is a shuttle service to help ease travel between the resort locations. I recommend going the "Premium" option. If you want to experience eating and dining in multiple sites, this ensures access. "Premium" also provides access to top shelf alcohol. But you must request at the bar when you order a drink. The cleanliness of the grounds were great. Always being cleaned up. The rooms were also in great shape. We chose the swim up jr. suite. For hassle free transportation, I recommend paying the resort for the service they provide getting there and back to airport. Taxi and ride share services are not pleasant. Make sure you reserve your times for all the dinner a la carte spots available when you arrive. While there are buffets everywhere, take advantage of the multiple sit down service options. All room access is via a wristband bracelet. No need to carry a card. No cash is accepted anywhere. We did carry pesos to tip services. Room cleaning, bartenders, valet to carry luggage and other little things. We stayed 6 nights and really had a great experience. Staff was always friendly. There are a few options from 3rd party companies that require paying. Putt putt is free until 7pm. Go carts and most games in slide the Strikers game area was a charge. Bowling was the biggest thing inside Strikers along with video games. I saw options to play pool and other games, but did not take advantage of that. The beach quite literally there as well. There are many activities daily to do outside and in the pool. There is a big board to see the schedules. You can check out games like bean bag toss, bocce and more. For those that enjoy musical theater, the theater had nightly shows. All were performed well and the kids had a great time. Some were kid friendly like a Disney musical. There was even a Madonna and Michael Jackson show. Be sure to also check out the aquatic services. We had a 30 minute ride on a katamaran. There is a spa and fitness area on location as well. As a family, we never felt the need to leave to go anywhere outside the resort. Overall great experience

I went with my brother to the Barceló water park to learn to surf. Miriam Soberanc was are instructor and she was amazing! She was extremely patient and sweet. I highly recommend her if she is available! We were able to surf by the end of the lesson!!!!

This the first time for me there but not the last, I like this place so much, high quality of service everywhere

Had a great vacation at Barcelo Maya Caribe! It was our first time taking the kids to an all inclusive and we are already talking about returning next year.

Fantastic All Around!! 🌴 A lot of complainers about the food, you must be eating at Michelin Star restaurants at home. We found the food to be very good from ALL the buffets to the À la Carte restaurants.

We stayed 6/20- 6/26 and paid for a swim up premium room. There was nothing premium. Our sliding glass door out to the pool did not work. We reported it right after we arrived and they never came to fix it so our door remained unlocked the whole stay. Our tv didn’t work and couldn’t get them out to fix it. My husband and one friend f our friends had to take it off the whole to fix a cable that was messed up. Our safe didn’t work. They did come out to replace it. Not sure why you pay extra for premium as I didn’t see any benefit besides a small discount at a few shops. So many of the activities cost extra such as bowling and wave board pool.

Place is going down, especially rooms and beach. Needs updating. Like how big it is and the fact that there is a mall and casino and theater to watch games but screens need updating. Same screens for the past 10 years probably .

This is the fourth time we stayed at the Barcelo Resort and like all the other stays, the all-inclusive resort was as good as it gets for the price.

It's disappointing to have to write this review as the staff were very friendly and kind. I took my family of 4 for a week and paid for a premium level room to have access to additional a la carte restaurants. Upon check in, we were only able to secure reservations for two of the restaurants and had to select between only a handful of available seatings which was incredibly frustrating. The grounds were nice, about what you would expect from a resort such as this. The first warning sign for me was them issuing one card per person allowing each to obtain 1 beach towel. I interpreted this as a cost savings step and it turned out to be correct. Once we were in our swim out room, we noticed there was a loose light in the pool exposing wires so when they couldn't resolve that, they had to move us the next day to another room, which was ideal because half of the lights in our room did not work. The beach is completely unusable. MASSIVE piles of seaweed and incredibly rocky making it extremely difficult to find a place to enter the water safely. We wound up just jumping off the boat dock and swimming out there for a while. There were only two days when the water was actually clear enough to see anything so don't be deceived by the pictures on the site making the beach look like the Bahamas, it's incredibly far from that. The pools were fine, nothing special but about what you'd expect. There was little to no activities during the day around the pools so if you're just going there to lounge around, you'll be fine. The most important thing that I can share with potential travelers, aside from please don't waste your money going here, is that the food was HORRIFIC. My family and I travel a ton personally and professionally so we've had a broad spectrum of experiences but I am truly struggling to find words to explain just how uniquely bad and poor quality this food was. First, it's important to note that with very limited seatings at the a la carte restaurants, you'll be at the buffets quite a bit. There was remarkably little variety and the quality of what was there was astoundingly bad. Flavorless, bland, fatty foods, half of which are fried. I was taken back at the lack of flavor or seasoning of any kind in this food. My two kids described it as being worse than the cafeteria food at their schools. We went to a Mexican themed night the last day and I was in disbelief and how bad Mexican food could be at a Mexican resort.

The air conditioning as I stated before did not work. I did not get any good rest at all. I told the front many times my ac does not work and they said it would work and it’s gonna get cold and it never did. I tossed and turned in the heat all night with no resolution the entire time I was there.

The spa is the best part of this hotel. The pools were nice and beach is nice but alot of seaweed in the area. Mediocre food selection with most of it being fried or out for a while. Good for families who have older kids as there are alot of pools and kids stuff to do. Good drink selection. The resort is big and very spread out and needs better signage. You feel like you're on a cruise ship on land. Nice staff, clean rooms. Resort could be updated. Good bang for your buck however shopping and all paid stuff on site is at a premium because you are at least 40 minutes from a larger city center, each way. $60 minimum for taxis anywhere off resort.

This was our first time at Barceló Maya Caribe and it was amazing. We opted for a premium room and it was incredible. Two jacuzzi tubs and a very spacious bathroom. Our room overlooked the pool and beach. We came for a wedding and had such a great time. We will return soon. Thank you for your hospitality. What a place!

The front desk receptionist named Victor has been so welcoming, friendly and accommodating! He really set the first impression of this place positively! :) Great service overall!! We stayed at Caribe and it has been quite pleasant - clean room, modern and vibrant external atmosphere, and very accessible! Food is good; decent/ok Italian to above average Mexican! Highly recommend for families and couples!

Our hotel stay was comfortable, relaxing, and well organized. The room was clean and quiet, the staff were helpful, and the location made it easy to get around. Overall, it was a pleasant experience that allowed us to rest, recharge, and enjoy our time away.

Beautiful hotel. Clean grounds. Mostly clean pools. The beach was full of seaweed but that can’t be helped at all. Was nice to walk down to the pier and watch the water. You could jump in and snorkel from there if you choose. Water was red flags everyday. Just be careful. There’s a turtle tent for egg aging. Was best to walk up and see if there any new nests. The food was good. A bit repetitive if you just do the buffet. But overall no tummy troubles ever. Fridge and snacks were stocked. We had a premium stay with upgraded room. Comfy bed but terrible pillows haha. So so flat. We called for extras. Had a patio with a jetted tub. The. Broom was small and I wasn’t a big fan of the open toilet to the rest of the room. I like a closed off bathroom for more privacy. It was wide open room with glass doors to the toilet. And one for the shower. But still wide open above the doors haha. Not something I enjoyed. Lots of room for clothing. Patio chairs and ocean view. They had even entertainment nightly. Noise level was decent. Good value for money. My experience at the waterpark was so much fun! Miriam Soberano was the best coach! I would not have been able to stand up on the board without her help! Great waterpark, great coaches! Couldn’t recommend this enough

Very large Hotel, plenty to do and lots of options. Impressed with the friendly staff and how well and clean is kept.

Overall it was a very good experience especially for the price and we would stay again. If I could recommend one upgrade it would be larger bathrobes in the rooms for plus size people like myself. The food in the restaurants that we ate in were excellent but the portions are very large causing a lot of food waist, wish they would offer 1/2 size options.

Stayed for 12 nights at the beginning of May. Had a great visit. Grounds are stunning, so well kept. Beach had lots of seaweed but staffed were working hard on trying to clean it up. Still was able to swim with the turtles which is a huge reason we chose this resort. Caribe pool was a lot of fun, Gabriel and the rest of the entertainment staff were amazing, love the pool parties! Buffets are your average resort buffets, but à la cartes were very good. Tokyo and Rodizio were our favourites. Only suggestion is a working app for the resort. Will definitely be back! Special shout out to Luis Alberto Morales Bustos, Gabriel from Caribe pool entertainment staff, Luis gallardo and Jesus M from Caribe pool bar, and Alermo Garcia from caribe buffet. You guys all went above and beyond to make our trip amazing.

This is our all time favorite family vacation spot. Truly something for every one. Fun for all. The pool life is great and the drinks are amazing. The staff is super helpful and friendly. All in all the Vibe is the best vacation vibe.

Wow for my first time being at a resort this was incredible. From the food to the view to the service it was all amazing and if I come back I will be staying with Barceló again!!

I took a surf lesson with Miriam Soberano and it was such a great expérience. She is really professionnal, patient, gives good Advice and super friendly. I really enjoyed my time and recommend this during the stay.

7th trip to Barcelo Maya in last 4 years. Once you find the perfect resort for you why change it. 2 employees are the difference and reason I personally keep returning, German Lopez in the Tequila Lobby Bar and Augusto at the Casino. Couldn’t ask for a nicer staff at any other resort in Mexico. Also special thank you to Alejandro, Mellisa, Fabiola, Josue and every other staff there who makes it worth returning to every six months. Also if you’re there for snorkelling trips, there is really good snorkelling at the resort. And booking Cozumel is super easy with Nexus. But ya Sea turtles straight out from the Jaguar statue almost all the time, and this year looking for sea turtles came face to face 2ft away from a 5’ barracuda and it followed me back 30 yards after getting too close. They’re there too just a heads up, keep your eyes open. But thank you for another amazing trip Barcelo and again special thanks to my Amigos German and Augusto!!! God bless you and all your amazing staff Barcelo!!!! See you in 6 months!!!!

After staying with our adult children in Barcelo in Puerto Vallarta last year, we tried Barcelo Maya Caribe for 11 nights 6 months ago, this time with only my wife. We loved it so much that we came back for another 11 nights, returning home last night. We are already thinking about our next trip, to do things we did not have time for. Over all, an A+++ resort.

The resort was in need of room upgrades and public areas picked up of previous days trash and glasses. Extremely over priced gift shop. 6oz sunscreen $56. A terrible way to rip off guests ajresfy paying to stay and tipping staff.

Best experience ever, thanks Mirian Soberano, water park is the best place

If you like noise this is the place for you. Peace and quiet for those seeking to relax is in another venue.

This a nice resort BUT you have to be careful when paying with cash at the front desks. We had booked an excursion and had it charged to our room then when we went to the front desk to pay for it, we counted out all of our money and handed it to the woman behind the counter, she counted again but this time handed back three US $20 , one had some writing and two were slightly ripped, she said they couldn’t accept these bills since the central bank is very strict on the bills they accept. My wife works at a bank and got all of these bills from her work, her and another coworker checked them all bills were brand new when we received them, THE LADY BEHIND THE COUNTER HAD SWAPPED OUR NEW BILLS FOR OLD ONES AND SAID SHE COULDN’T ACCEPT THEM, LOOK OUT FOR THIS WHEN PAYING ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY, I’d recommend paying with card or if you have to pay cash pay small amounts, count slowly and have it clearly laid out on the count so you and whoever is behind the desk can see it, maybe even have a second person with you as well. I’m very disappointed with this type of practice and I’m sure it happens at a lot of hotels and resorts here. VERY DISSATISFIED.

Had the most fun at the surf with the help of the lovely coach Myriam who went beyond and above to teach us! Absolutely loved her!

January 31st – February 11th, 2026 Have travelled to the Barcelo Maya Caribe 3 times in the past 5 years. This is a large, beautiful resort, and nicely landscaped with very clean grounds. Easy access to all 6 resorts on the property as there are double decker buses which I highly recommend even if going for a cruise to see just how big the resort is. Food is a plenty and something for everyone! Can’t say enough good things about our stay, but below is a shout out to just a few of the staff that made our trip wonderful and we will be back again to stay at the Barcelo Maya Caribe Top mention to a few things/staff Bellhops Fast Eddie and Jorge – excellent prompt service with our luggage to and from our room – thanks guys! 😎 Premium Guest Services – Aline so helpful with our check-in and dinner reservations 😃 Entertainments crew at the Caribe resort were a hoot!! Joseph/Leo/Alberto/Gabriel/Joaquin/Jesus/Fanny/Dana/Marianna and a few others that I can’t remember the names 🎉 Poolside servers – Anna/ Maritzia, these ladies were on top of the ball when drinks were needed 🍻 Poolside Bar servers kept things flowing even when lineups had formed – Alexiandro/Angel/Filberto and big props to the pool area cleaner Natalio 💖 who was always picking up empty cups, and cleaning after people. Such a sweet man!! Theatre bar servers Ana/Claudia and shout out to our favorite guy LUIS SANCHEZ who remembered us after from a previous trip in 2023…..he even remembered that one of us was a retired police officer and I was in Administration. Very impressive!!! 😍 Double-decker bus driver – Omar was a sweet guy always smiling 😃 Caribe Buffet server – Manual (who I believe was new, but very hard worker) Good job!! 👌 Captain Morgan server – Henoc made everyday lunch very pleasant with his friendly smile and personable traits 💙

Sara the nurse on the property was excellent and was a big help to me when I was the most sick I’ve ever been! She is so helpful and answered all my questions very kindly.

Arrived at a very busy time; however, Barcelo Maya Caribe seemed spacious enough that people were not tripping over themselves. The Barcelo Tropical and Palace seemed packed - smaller beaches/sand and the sitting area and the pools were loaded with guest everywhere; glad we did not stay there. The adults-only resort on the other side of us was the least busy visually. As a celiac, all of the restaurants were very accommodating, offering advice on which meals had gluten and cooking fresh meals as alternatives with a hassle ! The a la cartes always asked about food allergies and made accommodations for me. NO WORRIES.. Our room was clean, however a little tired-looking, but cleaned every day: towels, floor, and bed. No bugs were seen anywhere at the resort, especially our room. Very clean and tidy The a la carte restaurants were not easy to get the ideal time slot, as it was everyone else's too. So some dinners were early, and some a little later, You can also select from the Tropical resort next door, where we ate at the Seafood restaurant. The Tropical provides alternative flavours to eat from. The beach restaurant, Captain Jacks, was not very good in selection and was very busy, loud near the pool and felt more like a traditional cafeteria over all. The other restaurant at the other end of our beach was great in selection, seating, and views. This place is loaded with stuff to do, with the mall that has restaurants, shops, bars, activities and an out door market, the gym, water surfing; bowling; pools; basketball; and the beach—something different each day ! Highly Recommend, Enjoy and Have Fun !

The whole staff at the water park were amazing such a fun experience to do. Definitely with having the week pass as it was a quite escape from the pool bar craziness ever day and to wake up with a cheeky surf every morning was key. Miriam at the flow rider was amazing with my whole family getting them started and progression on the surfing side. Give that girl a raise !!

I had an amazing time at the Barcelo Maya Caribe with my teenage son. The entertainment crew went out of their way to make him feel very welcome, and he had a blast performing onstage at karaoke night. The the buffet had a variety of things to choose from. Not always things I liked but I always found something to eat, I found the service at the buffet very well organized I always had a waiter helping me when I needed anything. Tokyo - la carte restaurant is a ten out of ten definitely would recommend. My son and I enjoyed riding the double-decker bus everyday between the properties and the activities. The proper is massive and we never got bored finding things to entertain our self with, water park and go kart was a blast. We always went to Strikers for evening snack. I definitely would return to this hotel again.

Our overall stay was amazing! The best part of our day was hanging out in the pool when Dana and Joesph were part of the entertainment team weather it was bingo or water polo! The resort was clean, the pool was a perfect temperature and there were lots of food options!

We have been coming to/staying at the Barcelo resorts for 15 years now. We LOVE the entire resort. The staff is very professional, extremely friendly and accommodating and will do all that they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I do wish they had some more pool and beach chairs as some days it is difficult to find 4 chairs together. Some additional evening options for entertainment would also be nice - BUT we love this resort and will return each year.

The resort and all the facilities were very nice. There is a large variety of activities to do to keep you entertained for days. The only complaint was that the vast majority of food was quite bland or just not very good. They didn't have really any authentic Mexican food, which I was quite excited for, and everything was just edible, not enjoyable.

I was rather apprehensive after reading the reviews, however they couldn’t have been further from the truth. The selection of food was excellent, the service in the restaurants, bars were second to none. Our room was made up daily with fresh towels and minibar restocked and spotlessly clean. A great hotel with friendly staff. A great stay.

Great hotel, location, beach and pretty good food overall. Just don't go at the end of Feb. during reading week. What a gong show!

We had a fantastic time with no issues at this resort. The amenities are great and the food is good. Entertainment is top notch. We would go back.

Avoid that place,it doesn't deserve 5 star rating , worst vacation ever, haven't slept for 2 nights (before our travel agent helped us moved to different hotel) loud music, people screaming at night,bad food and drinks quality,dirty rooms.Hatd time communicating with staff since no one understands English (or pretend not to understand)

We had an amazing family trip at Barcelo Maya Caribe! We stayed in the Swim Up Suite. I was a beautiful room that was very centrally located to everything (pool, beach, buffet). The hydrotherapy was so great and included in the price of the room. Our family was impressed with the buffet quality and selection. So many pools to choose from, the snorkeling was fun and we saw multiple sea turtles. We would highly recommend!

The spa at the Caribe, YourSpa, is the greatest treat! Garcia was my massage therapist. She did deep tissue and worked on my shoulder and neck to release tension. She did an excellent job and I recommend using her when you go. Always take time to do the hydro spa before, it is the best!! (sauna, steam room, cold plunge, jacuzzi, pool with specific jets for your neck and head). You won't be disappointed!

Barcy Kids Club in Caribe is awesome. The people that works there are very nice to our kids. Our first day the kids went there and they keep coming back. They even made friends with the other kids in the club.

The best week! All the staff were so great. Kevin at the flow rider was the highlight of the week- thanks for everything!!
