Masterton Motor Lodge

Our room was very quiet and clean. The outdoor areas and parking are great.

Everything is a little tired looking inside. It was freezing overnight both nights we stayed, there weren’t enough warm layers on the beds and the bedrooms didn’t have heaters.

The Team enjoyed their stay

Used to have a restaurant and room service years ago.

We needed to break our journey and stayed here.Lady on phone was great and we were allowed to check in early-this was VERY much appreciated!! Our Attic Studio was lovely and clean and the beds sooooo comfortable.Great pillows and wonderful hot shower!!! (just noticed floor was very slippery afterwards-so we laid towels down.)Would recommend this motel as was also very economical.

Room was comfortable for a nights stay, close to shops/garage.

It smelt a bit like old spew and the internet app on the TV had pornhub sites in the history/last watched lol We didnt mind this so much but wouldnt be cool for parents of kids using it 😆 Also, check-in from 3pm is later than most (luckily we could get in at 2pm but were ideally wanting earlier)

Great access and parking. Great tv set up. Clean sheets and good basic kitchen equipment. Lovely setting and very quiet.

Very tired decor. Stained carpet and upholstery, recommend wearing shoes at all times. Some lights wouldn’t work or would flicker. Taps over bathroom sink were very difficult to turn off, and easily dripped. Toilet flush button was hard to push. Stain visible on bed cover. Seriously needs updating.

Roomy and close to town centre.

Dusty. Felt thar room had not been used for ages and was not maintained.

Nice proprietors. They said the toom was "A bit tired", which is a fair statement, but if was in a quite location and we appreciated the fact that it was very clean..

Thought the rooms were very tied and in need of renovation

Very lovely man on the front desk, accommodated us with our request for extra people the next evening which was much appreciated

EVERYTHING WAS GOOD

Nice aspect in that we looked out onto a grass courtyard and the sun was coming in. Quiet, couldn't hear road noise. Good shower and towels etc Beds satisfactory

Bit dated and worn, limited space within unit. Some blinds and curtains were ripped. Bald unappealing approach. Needed some plantings or greenery to soften the approach.

Quiet and very friendly hosts and free laundry

It was quiet. Price was fine. It was clean and all appliances worked.

The pool needed to be cleaned. The place needs a refresh.

This property has so much potential. It has beautiful grounds , a lovely pool and oodles of space.

There has been nothing done to this property in years. It’s tired, run down and needs a lot of TLC.

The bathroom was a bit out dated and can do with a revamp the crockery and cutlery in the kitchen was all mismatched and the water pressure of the shower was really soft

Shower would not turn on, Hot water tap over handbasin would not turn on, Wife, who is not a tall person could not reach cups in cupboard for morning coffee.

There was a tv but nothing was working I mean no YouTube or Netflix or any other entertainment channel

We had a power cut on the day we were checking out … likely not the Motels problem though .:)

The room was clean.

The motel could do with some maintenance outside and inside. We stayed there 34 years ago and except for the soft furnishings, the carpets and bathroom fittings in our room did not appear to have been updated since then. We acknowledge that the motel is under new management and significant maintenance like painting and carpets etc is usually the job of the building owner not the manager.

Was a last minute trip with the kids for a tournament. We had never stayed here before. We were pleasantly surprised with the family rooms. New carpet throughout, nice and warm. Liked the loft bedroom for the kids. Comfy beds, large TV. Above all, super clean.

A little dated. The bathroom and shower were fine, just quite cold with the tiles and got very wet after showering. Would be lovely to see the pool/spa up and running in the summer. We would be keen to visit again.

Didn't appear to be food options available on site. Rooms sit well back from a busy road meaning it was quiet. Very easy and fast check in process. Happy to stay here again.

I arrived at 5pm after a long day to find reception closed and a note on the door with a phone number which I rang twice…no reply. After a while, 2 elderly Chinese people opened up and with limited English, they gave me a room (which I had prepaid). A woman travelling alone should never have this issue. The room was nice and spacious and bed comfy, but won’t stay here again….too distressing.

The layout was cool, kids upstairs, room serviced daily, very friendly host. Ability to warm the room quickly with heatpump. Good parking, comfortable accommodation thank you

Shower had great pressure, though wet floor design left the whole bathroom floor wet after. Host was great with feedback and made extra effort to try to resolve this. Condensation inside windows in the morning.

Pleasant,friendly staff, place is well looked after clean and tidy . Rooms are spacious and have everything you need in them.

Clean, spatial, convenient

It was spacious with a great outlook and lovely beds and bedding. The heating was excellent and we had everything we needed.

Perhaps in the future the washers on the taps get replaced as the taps were showing signs of wear and tear.

The location and quietness of the area.

The room was a little bit old and bed softer to our liking. Although the room was clean.

The decor was tired. There was no sky tv. We were the only people staying there although it’s a large place

The locality was quiet and private. The outside space was a very pleasant place to watch the stars and kickback.

The Lodge was easy to get to as it was situated along the main road in Masterton. Accessible to amenities around yet private and tranquil. The bed was super comfy and we slept really well. Staff was really friendly, helpful and accommodating. Good WiFi which really helped us in searching up well rated cafes and there was one just within walking distance -The Coffee Ride Cafe. The Lodge is also really close to The Clareville Bakery along SH 2 towards Carterton. We also enjoyed the TV programmes which they had available on their network.

Large studio, with access directly onto outdoor lawned area. Room included table and 2 chairs for eating, which I hadn't seen in the photo.

Very clean and tidy … nice amount of soap, shampoo, coffee, tea etc. Even though on main road didn’t really hear traffic noise. Good size room, good TV options, heat pump for heating and cooling. Very pleasant!

No one af reception on arrival or departure, water in unit stopped while i was in shower at 0810 on second day and did not come on again before my deaprture at 0845. Reception locked on arrival, rang bell twice, finally rang a number on reception door on my cell before so eone arrived. Water in shower not hot enough. Grounds shabby. No info in unit about local food outlets, dairies etc . Phone i room no info on how to contact reception. Light in room flickered all the time. Luckily wall lights to use.

Nothing like photos, run down, needs maintenance. It basically is not up two scratch. Old appliances stacked up at entrance way to unit Partner wouldn't even use shower. Not a pass mark from us.

Reception locked and no one in sight when I arrived at 3pm. Rang bell twice, no response, rang cell number on window and finally someone arrived. Room clean but very dated. Over powerful air freshner smell as room closed up. Room spacious, bed comfortable, bathroom small and would not be suitable for an older person who needed some space. Grounds spacious but shabby. Main light in bedroom flickered all the time while on, luckily plenty of wall lights. No folder with info of local surroundings, restaurants or how to contact reception. Water turned itself off while I was in shower at 0810 on Sunday. No water from bathroom basin or kitchen sink either. I left at 0840hrs and still no water??? No one at reception when I left to report this or the light issue to. Not overly impressed for 2 nights totalling $334 for No 5 Suite Friday and Saturday nights. Would not stay there again or recommend.

Very friendly gentleman signing us in. Knowledgeable of the area and things to do. Was a bit early checking in, and it was no problem. Pleasant stay.

Lots of space for 2 friends travelling. French door access to a shared garden. Clean. Refurbished wet room/bathroom.. Nice bedding. Able to circulate air upstairs by opening the windows. Is on a main road, so some traffic noise.

It was very quiet. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

The front door was locked and had to ring to get someone to reception. Obviously very understaffed. The restaurant was closed. Not given enough milk for 2 people. No wine class. No tea towel

A nice quiet stay with a great host.

The rooms were very big and spacious and even though we were late arriving the owner still waited for us with a lovely welcome. It was very clean and serviced every day. It is certainly past its best but would have been a real treasure back in the day but the owner is doing his best to keep it maintained with the pool being refurbished and recently opened. Good value for money.

The gentleman who met us was so friendly and helpful. Fab value for money. Had everything we needed.

It was very hot upstairs, and the a/c wasn't working up there.

A few things like air freshener in the toilet for example, were thoughtful extras. The owner was very friendly and apologetic after we left early. Everything was very clean

We were one of only 2 rooms occupied at the time, unfortunately the other room was a loud family who sat outside our window continually so we had no peace or privacy. The light outside our room was on all night and kept us awake and we didn’t find the bed comfortable. We were booked and paid for 2 nights but only stayed for one before heading home for a decent sleep.
