Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The hotel is unlike anything from the pictures that are advertised. The hotel is centrally located and in the historic centre. Yes, if you are unlucky and get a room facing the street it does get loud as there is a bar/restaurant with a roof-top bar right across the street. Light sleepers will not like this. The courtyard of the hotel, the inside, is quite dark and desolate. It's as if others have already avoided this hotel. In advertisements a renovation was mentioned, the rooms are far from recently renovated. The bathrooms look old, there is no chair to sit down in the room, no table to put your things or laptop on. The first morning I was excited to have a mexican breakfast - free of charge as it is part of the room charge. Instead of bringing me breakfast, I was handed a food-menu with prices. I avoided having breakfast and this entire behavior by the staff made me think that this hotel might be a scam: Not renovated, desolate and dark inside, you have to pay for free breakfast. Other reviews say the staff is nice, well, they have to be to pull off this scam-hotel.
The Ebano Boutique Hotel was a great experience for us when we recently traveled to Oaxaca!! The rooms were very nice and the Staff was so accommodating!! Carlos was such a huge help to us with his recommendations of things to see in the area and also made sure we were taken care of when we were at the hotel. Breakfasts were very tasty. Rooftop had excellent views of the city at nighttime, don't miss going up there! We would definitely recommend staying here, great central location too!!
From the moment we got there, the staff was always available, ready to help and provide guidance. Location is perfect and all the top sites and restaurants were within an easy walk. Highly recommend.
The staff and location of the hotel were its best features; otherwise, the hotel has not been updated in a long time. The rooms are old and outdated.
We had a week in this hotel and I would say it was an excellent stay. We were impressed from the moment we arrived. The staff was warm and helpful, making us feel very welcome right away. Our room was beautiful, spotless, quiet and very comfortable. We specially appreciated Carlos and his team. We had a great breakfast, quick check in and Carlos gave us a guide and suggestions where to go and where to eat. He went above and beyond to make my birthday very special. Thank you for making our visit so enjoyable- we would definitely stay here again!
We wanted to share how incredible our recent trip to Oaxaca, Mexico was, largely thanks to the exceptional staff at Palacio Borghese. Don Carlos and Farid, in particular, went above and beyond to enhance every aspect of our stay. They ensured our rooms were meticulously cared for, provided refreshing drinks every time we returned to the hotel, and offered a fantastic list of must-see attractions, all within walking distance. Their coordination of reliable transportation with local taxi services was also invaluable, contributing to a truly five-star hotel experience. The hotel itself is unique, with the charm of a converted home or villa, making it feel very cute and cozy. The entire staff was wonderful, and the food from their menu was delicious. I am already looking forward to when we can return. Palacio Borghese is truly a must-stay in Oaxaca. Mundo & Yvette Pacheco

Está muy bonito, muy buena ubicación
No tiene cocina en el día, solo desayuno. Fue una tortura que me dieran la factura, no querían. Es un lugar caro
Best service ever. All the hotel personnel was professional and excellent hostess.
Great location!
The place was dirty and infested with bed bugs.
Great place very comfortable room and the location is perfect right by Santo Domingo and only minutes away from Zocola.
La ubicación, el personal muy atento. Bonito lugar.
Lo único que no nos gustó y es lo más importante porque necesitas descansar, fue la cama (es muy dura, no se descansa), podrían invertir en colchones más cómodos.
Stay in this hotel was amazing experience. Warm people, very helpful and friendly. Is so hard found place like this. High quality, really recommend this hotel
Very nice boutique hotel centrally located with the most comfortable bed but most of all the excellent guest service from all staff, especially the manager Carlos, was amazing!
The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Their kindness and attention really made us feel like more than just guests and it was a high point of the trip to Oaxaca. The room was very comfortable with good bed/pillows, AC. The room was very clean. The bathroom is a bit dated, but very well maintained and clean. The location was great with the zocalo and Santa Domingo church nearby along with many shops and restaurants. Noise at night was fine on weeknights, but on the weekend, noise from a rooftop bar across the street meant a pounding bass until around midnight. It wasn't too terrible with the windows closed, but it was audible so if you're sensitive to noise, this might not be a great fit for you. The continental breakfast was simple but delicious and the service was great. The roof top patio area offers nice views of the city. I was very happy with the Palacio Borghese.
I cannot recall ever having received such kind, attentive service from hotel staff. Right from arrival through to our departure five days later, all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at all times/hours with everything from sightseeing and transportation advice to offering a complimentary umbrella during a rain storm. This exceptional level of service helped make our stay special. Entrance to the hotel was always immediate and a good level of security was evident at all times. The location is excellent (right near the Santa Domingo church) with the zocalo within a five minute walk. There is significant street/bar noise. With windows/blinds closed, the noise is not too intrusive, but on Friday/Saturday night, the pumping bass from a nearby rooftop intrudes until quite late (our room was adjacent to the main entrance on the street). The room was kept spotlessly clean throughout our stay with a comfy bed, great A/C, but the bathrooms are getting a little in need of a reno. The rooftop patio is lovely with great views of the surrounding city. The simple included continental breakfast was basic (bread, pastry, fruits, fruit juice, coffee/tea) but tasty and nicely presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it.
the attentiveness and attention to detail is amazing. Carlos was great. Always giving us tips and recommendations of where to eat and where to visit. staying at this location makes me want to go back to Oaxaca many more times.
Beautiful boutique hotel. Very ideal location and staff are extremely kind and helpful. The attention to detail is admirable. Continental breakfast was delicious as well as the meals they have available on their menu. I would book at this location again.
Hotel Palacio Borghese had a Fabulous location steps from great restaurants, the pedestrian street, wonderful churches and shops, the customer service was excellent. The bedding, products, robe, slippers were all great quality . Continental breakfast was geear - We would highly recommend
Bed was phenomenal pillows and Room took me away to Europe. Staff was Excellent Carlos , Farid, and Jose were all Attentive with Information about local spots in Oaxaca and very resourceful. The Hotel was Squeaky Clean and serene . The breakfast was good. as well as lunch
Hotel staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful! They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. They take care of you like if you were at home. The location of the hotel was great, you can pretty much walk everywhere. Overall 10/10
The building itself is lovely & incredibly well located. And, Carlos the concierge couldn’t have been more amenable. But the rooms were not great & I would not book again.
Superb location and the staff were excellent. Lovely rooms, but all a bit tired and run down. We had 2 rooms on the top floor which had a lovely view and breakfast on the terrace but bring the earplugs as it was very very noisy (low season).
Palacio Borghese is excellent. Ideal location: just a block from key attractions like Santo Domingo and a short walk to the Zocalo. Rooms are spacious. We stayed in Venezia (the stand-up show was lovely) and Siena (street-facing but still very quiet). The hotel has a lovely internal courtyard where they serve continental breakfast. The hotel staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. They also have excellent sightseeing and restaurant recommendations -- like a mole tasting at Los Pacos Restaurant. The staff also make transportation arrangements for us to visit the Zapotec ruins in Monte Alban. This place is special. It truly felt like staying with caring folks in a grand colonial mansion. The manager, Don Carlos, is exceptionally excellent.
This missionary house converted hotel is located centrally and in walkable distance to churches and market. About 30 min ride from the airport. The staff is very responsive and accommodating. Excellent breakfast choices with many vegi options. I like the fact that we need to ring the door bell to enter as makes it very safe. Hotel and rooms are very clean and has all the necessary amenities. It’s is located close to jazz club so music is loud till about 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays. Many restaurants in walkable distance to enjoy Mexican food.
We stayed here four days and enjoyed our experience. The staff was always helpful even when making a reservation over the phone. The rooms are large and the beds very comfortable for Mexico. There are only eight rooms in the hotel so amenities are very limited. We haven’t stayed in a bed-and-breakfast for a long time, but just know that the breakfast is continental – fruit and bread and coffee and juice.
Wonderful hotel and amazing staff! They even gave us a goodbye gift
Although the location of the hotel is good and the staff is friendly we were disappointed in our stay. The walls are thin so it can get loud. Also the hotel seems somewhat dated. The hours of the restaurant are limited as well. Not what we expected in a 5 star rated hotel. Next time we will try a different hotel.
Standard room is lower in price but subpar. It is located at the top floor through multiple stairs. Room is plain and closer to a 2-3 star hotel. Noise level can be high given bars across the street (very loud on weekends). Continental breakfast is very basic, service is great but the few employees that seem to work overtime. For $200 the location, and bed, clean bathroom is ok. More expensive rooms at the $350 mark merit a better look at other hotels like the Quinta Real. Disappointing.
The hotel is in a fabulous location and in impeccable condition. The hotel staff are incredibly helpful and made the entire stay fantastic by providing great recommendations of things to do both in and around town. They recommended great restaurants and economical options for tours to the archeological sites. The included continental breakfast was a great way to start the day.
Our stay at Palacio Borghese Hotel Boutique was truly exceptional, with impeccably clean and well-appointed rooms, a friendly and attentive staff who went above and beyond to cater to our needs, and a prime location that allowed us to easily explore the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Oaxaca.
comfortable, convenient, clean, safe
Excellent hotel in a great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A wonderful experience!
Wonderful oasis in a delightful town. Spacious room, excellent staff and great bed and shower. The staff went the extra mile. Every time we returned from a day out there was a fresh juice awaiting. The rooms were cleaned promptly and to an excellent standard. Great location for restaurants and magor attractions.
It was unusual having to ring a bell for exit/entry but for security it was good. Staff were always available.and it wasn’t a problem.
This hotel is an oasis very close to all attractions. Lovely spacious rooms, huge comfortable bed. The staff are delightful, attentive and professional. On return from hot walks we were greeted with a refreshing drink. The rooms were cleaned beautifully with fresh fruit and water every day.
Amazing l hotel everyone was so nice
Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Oaxaca just a short walk from the cathedral. Staff did a nice job of anticipating needs and assisting with same. Booked an upper room that was spacious and nicely appointed with practically a private balcony. Highly recommend.
It was clean, staff was friendly and attentive
At first the room safe was not working and they weren’t offering an alternative to secure my high value belongings. It was fixed after a few hours later.
The manager Carlos was great. THe entire staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful.
Relaxing rooftop is gorgeous.
Just a terrific place to stay while visiting Oaxaca. The location is excellent, the beds are super comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious, and the staff is incredibly helpful. Carlos and Farith gave us wonderful tips on places to visit, helped arrange transportation, etc. One piece of advice: If you're sensitive to noise, get an interior room as there's a venue across the street that plays music late some nights.
This is a beautiful boutique hotel and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The rooms are unique and there are great linens. Don’t miss the view from the rooftop! This hotel is just steps away from everything that Oaxaca has to offer.
Very bad experience, room was smelly and no exhaust in the washroom. There was a minor conflict with the attendant and I requested for the manager/supervisor, the attendant straight away denied it with the utmost rudeness.
The stay was not great. The bathroom was smelly and there was no exhaust. They served continental breakfast without eggs and when asked for eggs they charged very high prices. Also there were some conflicts and I asked for the manager/supervisor, the attendant there straight away denied it with utmost rudeness.
Beautiful little boutique hotel very comfortable and located in a perfect location. Close to the historic downtown and yet a couple of blocks away from all the noise. The rooms are very comfortable as well. Farid and Jose were very helpful. Loved it!
Staff was kind and helpful and room was clean and quiet. Mattress was not very comfortable.
Great place to stay with staff that went above and beyond at every point. Right in the centre so easy to get anywhere you need.
We had a great stay at Palacio Borghese. The location is within walking distance to everything you need including food, drinks, shops, and the markets. All of the staff was welcoming and helpful. The included breakfast was fresh bread and fruit that was delicious. The hotel had a rooftop with incredible views of the city and Temple.
Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast, clean, comfortable rooms! We loved our stay and would stay again. They gave great recommendations and the area felt very safe. Was worried about the noise based on previous reviews and our room window being right off the street but with the mini split fan running and white noise on my phone we slept great and no problems with noise.
La atencion al cliente es maravillosa de todos los trabajadores pero quisiera hacer una excepcion para agradecer al señor carlos una persona maravillosa y super amable que todo el tiempo trata de hacer sentir como en casa muy recomendado este lugar
Great staff and room. Great location
Quaint little spot in a great location with awesome staff members.
Beautiful hotel. Amazing service by all the staff.
Everything was great except the noise at night. Too many party people around the venue.
Excellent location, clean and comfortable property and the staff is very professional and friendly!!
Staff is really friendly give you a complimentary drink and map of the city .with suggestions where to eat and places to visit. Even help with tour attractions.
A wonderful hotel . Very attentive staff . 2 blocks away from Santo Domingo church. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood . And a great complimentary breakfast that is very good.
Location. Staff very friendly and attentive.
Good location, nice Italian decor room, the service was super friendly and very informative. Will definitely return! Gracias Daniel, Carlos and everyone else for your hospitality.
Club next door was very loud, and the continental breakfast was good, but minimal for the price point, and the same everyday. The jacuzzi tub was too big for the small bathroom, and made it awkard to access the shower, but the service and staff were excellent. Great location, and a beautiful building.
Great staff , very attentive .
It was close to everything !
The very hard bed. I like a little softer bed.
Great staff. Very attentive; The location was perfect. Great views from roof top
It was amazing. Our public Relations, Señor Carlos went the extra mile to help us to organize perfect vacations in town. Breakfast was delicious and plates a la Carte were awesome!! Our breakfast waitress, Betty, was super attentive and also helpful in all our concerns. Thank you!!
Excellent location and staff, especially Carlos
The property was amazing, authentic, classy and just what we were looking for. The staff is always ready and willing to help and provide any tips for the area. Helpful and also respecting our space and quiet demeanor. Amazing staff!
This property was amazing! Carlos was so awesome always checking on us to see if we needed anything. Love him. Room was beautiful and breakfast was very good. The location was the best!! Definitely will stay again
Beautiful building and location. We were on the top floor so a small elevator could have been helpful.
I would have liked the continental breakfast to include espresso. A bit noisy at night from the street if you face that direction.
The location made it ideal to get coffee, go shopping and see local street vendors and attractions like the botanical gardens. The breakfast at the hotel was exceptional as was the service. Thank you Carlos!
We didn’t find out about the spa services until our last day. The A/C unit in the Firenze room got quite noisy.
The bathtub was too high to be able to use the shower. And they only supply a small bottle of water in the room. We were surprised that the breakfast included was only continental.
Very helpful staff
Ideally located on a mostly pedestrian street. Staff very helpful with bookings and travel suggestions.
Food only at breakfast
Visited Oaxaca for the 1st time. Absolutely fantastic trip. Oaxaca definitely leaves you with the feeling of having visited Mexico. Family friendly & exciting city. Definitely recommend staying in the Centro area. This boutique style hotel couldn’t be better. Entire staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. From setting up tours, dinner reservations, taxis nothing was too big or too small. It has an old style charm with modern conveniences. They do not have the hot tub on the roof anymore as shown in the pictures but that did not take away from the beautiful views of the church & city in the cool of the evening. Am definitely going back & staying here in the future!! *****
This was a beautiful, comfortable boutique hotel. A converted convent! The staff is very accommodating and focused on customer service. It's very clean with a lovely complimentary continental breakfast with optional full breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel. It's delightful!!
The property was beautiful, clean, safe and centrally located to all the major spots to visit !
It is a palace style hotel with exceptional service Rooms are huge snd comfortable Suite room on the ground floor was not so good but management changed to another room one floor up The terrace is incredible
The lack of swiming pool The breakfast included was continental only. You have to pay for egg dishes. Taking in to account that room rate is incredibly high , this is a drawback
Outstanding
Excelent location, great staff service
The staff went over the top to make sure we had a great stay.
We liked everything about the hotel and staff. But the neighborhood was noisy at night with rooftop entertainment going on. That had nothing to do with the hotel but the noise was a factor in our sleep.
Great location. Staff was very friendly, very efficient, and very helpful. It was lovely having our breakfast every morning on our terrace.
There was a bit of a “funky” smell in our bathroom. Perhaps some air freshener would help.
Great and friendly staff. Go the extra mile to accommodate our needs.
Excellent accommodations and good location. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was great. We would stay here again.
The staff was very nice. Breakfast, though an additional charge was good.
This place is NOT a luxury hotel. My room was cheap, dated, and very "beat up" looking. Dirt and mold around the jacuzzi tub, cipped paint all over the walls, holes and dirt on pull down shades, dirt and stains on the lampshades, bed posts and cheap lamps all discolored, thin cheap bathrobes, and there is NO soundproofing. You are right in the middle of town and the bands and noise from the adjoining terrace bars and restaurants sound like they are literally in your room with you. This goes on til 3 am at night. For 265 or so USA I was appalled. I stayed in two other accommodations during my recent 2 week stay in Oaxaca and this one was the worst. My room was on top of the building, looks like it was added on later and done as cheaply as possible. I felt totally ripped off. If you can get a room in Casa de Pino, do so, THAT was a luxury stay.
