it is bit old. it needs upgrade. however it is sooo cheap and convenient.
This is the best location in Xi’an. I loved it. Terrific staff. I just wish there was instant coffee in the rooms - now there is only tea. But I had a wonderful stay - thank you.
Smelled musty when opened the door. Saw mold on the caulking in the bathroom.
The staff tried to serve two customer at the same time so we got really confused as to who they were giving the instruction to. I guess they're used to working at twice the normal speed but it just feels a bit rude to do that. Otherwise the hotel is okay.
Location very strategic. Near metro station, bus shuttle and all places tourist should visit in Xi An in walking distance such as the oldest and biggest mosque in China, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Muslim Quaters and shopping complex?
The location of this hotel is fantastic! It is steps from the bell tower, drum tower and Muslim quarter. There is so much to do and see right outside the door. It is a short walk to the city wall and the metro is right outside as well. The hotel lobby is beautiful and the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are in serious need of updating but the location made it worth while.
Great central location, busy area. Nice hotel and would stay there again.
Very convenient location in old down next to Bell Tower!
The hotel is in a fantastic location over looking the Bell Tower & in the CBD. Lots of food shops nearby. The airport shuttle bus ends & starts just behind the hotel. There is a metro station across the road under the Bell tower. Room got serviced every day, complimentary bottles of water, big fluffy white towels, tea making kettle, TV with one English channel, & shampoos, conditioners, etc. Room was larger than normal with a nice sitting area.
Excellent Location Value for money We booked for city view but was gaven a non window room. We need to top up a small sum for city view
V good location. Easy access to airport. Staff pleasant.
In the city center, easy access to all tourist areas. Metro zhonglou on line line 2, exit c. Excellent bakery next door. Walking distance to bell tower, drum tower and muslim markets.
We were very happy with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The location was good, and really convenient for the subway and ease of getting around. The room was quite comfortable on the whole. Our rooms were standard rooms, and they were kept clean by the room attendants, but the furniture was old and tatty, and the carpet needed a very obvious deep clean. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were not up to international standard. The only items provided were two complimentary bottles of water on arrival, and two tea bags of a type that we wouldn't drink. The bar closed at 22.00hrs which is very early for people on holiday.
Location is very good
Bell Tower has an amazing central location and is ideally priced. Staff were very helpful changing money, providing for other needs Incl Xi’an city info.Nice coffee and snack shop off foyer. Great club sandwiches. Bkfast OK. Homely stay. Great city. Graeme NZ
Beds are not very comfortable
Excellent location and nice view. The staff at the reception desk seemed very poorly informed, and could not locate either of two addresses we sought.
Water was shut off for an entire day. Staff did not inform guests until late in the day as to what the problem was. The hotel is very close to the Line 2 subway stop (use exit 2 or 3) which connects to Xian North High Speed Rail Station. There is an airport bus stop right behind the hotel offering service every 20 minutes for 25 RMB. Had breakfast. Few offerings for western menu.
Great location. Only problems is I got bitten by mosquitoes in my room.
Strategic location, just right next to the bell tower and in front of bell tower MRT station. Overall the building is very old and the room definitely need refurbishment. We arrived around 2am, the receptionist was sleeping and there wasn’t any hot water supply in the shower.
This hotel is located in the city of Xi’an. Very good location, just right beside bell tower. Directly outside of the train station. Very close to a lot of attractions. The hotel itself is very old. First night I checked in at 2am. The hotel receptionist was sleeping, didn’t answer some of my questions. Not hot water supply in the midnight. Room carpet is very old and dirty and tv cabinet is so old that it almost cracks when I opened. Overall it’s bearable with the location.
- room was dark despite all lights were turned on. - room was not cleaned although sign "Pls make up room" was put up. when we returned to room, room was not cleaned and sign "do not disturb" was changed. - reception was very helpful
Great hotel and location
We booked and paid for a a twin room and got a double instead.
Hotel is outside exit 3 of line 2 Zhong Lou metro station but it is a long walk (a bit confusing) underground the street level if you want to use the escalator to the exit. Hotel's location made it walkable to Beiyuanmen food alley, Lomajie street and South Gate. My room faced the Bell Tower which was nicely lit up at night but the lighting control in the room seemed not working properly and furniture looked worn out. There was cigarette odour though the hotel reception said it was a non-smoking room. Overall, the hotel's location and good room rate were the main points for booking the hotel.
Right in the middle of the city, with the Muslim quarter only 5mins walk away.
Great location! Right across from the Bell Tower which is beautifully illuminated at night. This property is classy in the lobby, but beyond that (the hotel rooms and corridors) it is tired and worn out. Gouges in the wall and lack of maintenance in the rooms. And the "no-smoking" policy is unenforced. The whole property felt like sleeping in an ash tray.
Pros - Location is good. Had a great view of Bell Tower. CONS - Booked for 4 nights but checked out after first night. Killed 11 huge mosquitoes full of the previous occupants blood. It was gross. Ended up at Sofitel Remni square. 10x better for double the price. Get promo upgrade for breakfast and better room. Watch out when getting out of cabs. Guy almost took off with our bags in the trunk.
I was charged two times for my room under the excuse to keep a guarantee for the room !! They take advantage of the language barrier and their second charco does not appear
Great place to stay very convenient
Pros: the location is fantastic. Cons: this is the kind of hotel that was nice 30 years ago and had been needing an update for a long time. The carpet was so gross, I was grateful for slippers. The bathroom had significant water damage and an active leak that building staff didn't care about. There are many nicer hotels in the immediate area (a Ramada, a holiday inn Express...). STAY AT ONE OF THOSE INSTEAD
Location was perfect, staff were really helpful. Easy to walk to a lot of attractions and the metro was just steps away. Bathroom could do with a little updating, but overall great hotel.
Location near bell tower, Muslim quarter, and metro station
We stayed here for three nights with a free upgrade to a room facing the bell tower. This is a centrally located hotel with a subway station Zhonglu line 2 nearby. The roundtunnel passage by the subway will lead you to the doorstep of this hotel by escalator. From the hotel all major attractions are at walkable distances. Muslim Quarter, Drum and Bell Square, Ancient city wall south gate, small goose pagoda, beiyuanmen and etc. Nothing beats the location of this hotel. rate is very reasonable. The pluspoint is most of their frontdesk staffs speak good English..even their housekeeping staffs. They are very helpful and attentive
Downtown Xian, so everything in walking distance. The hotel location was perfect Slightly dated interior and 'tired' bathrooms, but good for a few days
Location, Service, Staff, the only problem is the room's need remodeling, especially the bathroom.
Location is fabulous. Beds very hard. Very run down. No cooling in rooms.
An iconic hotel right smack in the centre of Xi'an, near Bell and Drum Towers, Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter, Metro Station and Airport Shuttle stop just behind. A pity the WiFi was slow and didn't allow much to be accessed at all, and that the hot water was out for a day. Try the fancy fine dining restaurant behind, which is inexpensive by international standards!
Location is excellent, very close to the Bell tower, Drum tower, Muslim Quarters
Excellent location, hotel just above the metro station Bell Tower
The location is great. It’s close to a mall and many places to eat. The hotel looks way better from outside than inside. The room was old, moldy and smelled funky. We just spent one night and I wouldn’t book it again. Very bad for the price.
Great location. Easy to get to and from train stations, very close to Muslim quarter, and directly across the street from the Bell Tower.
Absolutely amazing location and I had an amazing view of the bell tower with my own balcony, however the interior of the hotel, carpet, and bathroom leaves little to the imagination that the hotel is definitely outdated and needs some urgent renovations.
Fantastic location with big rooms and excellent views.
This hotel is superbly located right opposite the bell tower in Xi’An, which is an amazing sight, especially at night. It is very close to shops and restaurants and walking distance to local points of interest (eg bell tower, Muslim Street). However, the rooms smelled like cigarette smoke eventhough we requested a non smoking room and were placed on a non smoking floor. The rooms are small, dated and run down. I had to wear a mask even in the room. Despite the convenient location, I’m not sure if I would stay here again just because of the smell of smoke that permeates through the hotel and the rooms.
Room was ok , just a bit old and air conditioner made the room too dry. Although in a smoke-free level, but the room always got smoke smell when we back, probably from the cleaners we guess. The reception staffs were not very friendly and helpful.
Room has smell. Every where has smoke. Bathroom is moldy.
The location of the hotel is excellent, walking distance to everywhere! Room has a city view to Bell Tower. However the hotel is a bit dated and there is a stale smell in the room, probably from cigarette smoke. The shower curtain needs to be replaced, musty smell coming from it. Room is reasonably priced, which is a good deal.
Rather dated and badly needed room upgrading. Wall paper pèeled. Toilet boil leak a bit when I flush. BUT! Its still worth the stay. We had a room on the 4th floor facing the Bell Tower with a long balcony. At night you get the best night view of Xian. Which sort of compensated for the other shortcomings.
Good location, friendly staff; room lighting is the downside.
Overall Excellence but not provide coffee and tea amenity in room.
Loved the location if you like city centers, it was almost like staying at Times Square in NYC. If you are only going to do some of the outskirts type stuff, then find one that is not at the center of the city. The hotel could use some updating. The lobby was very nice but the rooms are a bit dated. Also for me personally the beds were way too hard, this may be acceptable to some, but after 4 nights I was a little drained with not enough quality sleep. Also the walls were a little thin as I could easily hear the tv from my neighbor. But they were respectful and turned it down/off around 10pm. All in all it is a good hotel and worthy of your consideration in staying here. The price absolutely was great, staff was super nice and the location at city center can’t be beat.
Great location..... around 5 mins walk from Zhonglou / Bell Tower metro station; hotel is located at the south west corner of Xian Bell Tower. Great view of bell tower from hotel front. Within walking distance to the muslim quarters, drum tower and the city wall south gate / yongningmen The hotel staffs were very helpful. The room decor was quite dated and bathroom floor tile is slippery; hence have to be very careful when stepping in/out from the bathtub.
The location is great. It is so accessible to all major attractions and we were given the rooms facing the bell tower which is quite a sight day or night. The staff were helpful and gave us clear directions in Mandarin. The minus here is its sound proofing. We could hear traffic/people shouting outside hotel despite staying at level 5. The hotel's facilities are a bit old but still decent. Will book here again if i visit the city.
Nice hotel close to shopping mall, Muslim street
Great location; next to bell tower and drum tower amid shopping area. 10 yards to Xian metro system and bus system. My son teaches english in Xian and I visit 1 or 2 times a year.
BELL TOWER Hotel was THE HOTEL in the BYGONE YEARS! BUT now there are so many hotels mushroom in XIAN, consequently, many BETTER Choice around! The Selling point of this hotel is It's location, It is just next to the BELL TOWER, and near to both the DRUM TOWER and the MUSLIM STREET, WHICH are the key tourists spots in XIAN, apart from the tombs and Hua Shan...The hotel is OLD and prices high. The rooms are small and furnishing old. Stay just for the sake of experiencing the PAST ERA of a OLD LADY !!!
Many images are misleading compared to actual rooms you receive. Wouldn’t consider it my best hotel experience in terms of cleanliness (rusty bathroom tiles). On the other hand, the location is absolutely fantastic and extremely convenient for visiting and for late night snack exploration of the nearby food district.
Located exactly in front of Bell Tower. Muslim street market is only located 5 mins away and there is underneath passage to the market. The area is beautiful at night. Staff speak good english. Room was spacious and facilities are complete. Only downside is the location of the hotel is not accessible by taxi. You need to walk down the road to get a taxi. We had difficulty to get meter taxi but you could always ask the hotel to get one for you.
This hotel is the best lacation to Bell , Drum tower, City wall , and shopping street.
Great hotel in the center of xian, just next the historic bell tower, which looks great at night when lit up. Easy walk to cheap eats in the muslim market. Metro station is there to get you to other places around the city. Direct line to the high speed train station, no transfer.
Excellent location as it's right next to the Bell Tower and subway station. Super close to the Drum Tower and Muslim Street. Lots of shops and eateries around the hotel too. But the hotel is rather worn-out and could do with a refurbishment. My friend and I (in separate rooms) had a bit of a scare as we found that our luggage was unlocked (and mine was scuffed around the lock) when we returned to our rooms one evening, even though we were certain that we had locked them when we left the room in the morning. But nothing seemed to be missing, so we're not certain if anything untoward had happened or if we were careless and forgot to lock our bags.
Best location in town, yet very much outdated facilities overall. Room is spacious yet with walls needed a paint job, AC is only a noise maker, does not produce any flowing cool air, bathroom tiles are discusting, toilet stinks if cover is up. Might as well look into some less known hotels nearby.
Room a bit hot and no cool air from air conditioning. Need to open window and electric fan. The ceiling old and crack
Generally good. View of the Bell Tower is fantastic
Location of the hotel is good but the room is very old. The room get very hot in the afternoon because of the sun coming in and there is no air-con in the afternoon. Staff told us the hotel do not provide air-con during this time of the year.?? Hotel should know that it is not winter yet and room is like sauna in the afternoon and should not shut down air-con. We paid for a room but unable to stay and rest in the room. We have to wait and loiter outside of the hotel till night fall where weather get cooler. Is really annoying when you are tired and unable to rest in the room. The room is REALLY LIKE SAUNA IN THE AFTERNOON. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
My room was quite run down. The toilet door has paint patches all over and room need a face lift. I insisted changed of room the next day. Disappointed
Great location, close to muslim Quarter. We rode subway in from airport and and the subway stop is very close to the hotel
The Bell Tower Hotel in Xi'an is in the center of Xi'an and serves as a central base from which to tour the city. However, as other reviewers have written, it needs updating. While staff tries to be as helpful as they can English is limited as is signage. Our room was good enough for us as we toured daily and came back to a comfortable bed and pillows. Water in shower was hot and had a strong flow. We would return.
Very good location. Public transport all within easy reach. Next to the Bell Tower. Easy access to good outlets. Was given a room with view of Bell Tower on second night. Beautiful view. Check in counter staff should have been more accommodating.
X’ian is the most amazing city with such a depth of history and the Bell Tower Hotel is superbly placed right in the centre for you to make the most of your stay. Very comfortable rooms, great service, great access to loads of good food - especially the Muslim Street market. Thoroughly recommend it.
Location is excellent. Hotel housekeeping could be better. The carpet has some smell and toilet smells damp.
Location absolutely perfect, at Bell Tower and 5 minutes to Muslim quarter. Property needs remodel, especially moldy bathrooms.
Above average hotel with walking distance to major attractions and close to a Metro Station.
The furniture is old and the condition is unconformable .
Very close to city centre, within easy walking distance of malls, markets and restaurants. Also, there is an information centre to book tours etc on the 2nd floor of the hotel which is handy.
Located just opposite the Bell Tower. Room was small but clean. Furniture was old and dated. Chose this for its location and reasonable price.
Good: it’s offer great view and in the middle of all the points of interest Not so good: AirCond not cold, bit stuffy, old hotel.
Great location. Lovely hotel. The room we got reeked of cigarettes from a previous inconsiderate guest, but we were promptly given a new room when we complained. The night view of the Bell Tower was stunning.
The first room we got, the air conditioning was leaking water to the room floor. After changing to another room, the room has smoke smell, and the room was much smaller than the first one. Washroom is clean. But the bedroom carpet looked not nice.
Hotel has great location, easy getting around both by subway and buses. Easy to get to most major tourist attractions even by walking. Great helpful staff. Hotel is pretty much out dated, a major renovation is overdue. The room we checking has rotten smell that we have to change room. Though claimed to be a non smoking hotel, traces of cigarette smoking is at every corner of the hotel, MaybeI am pretty sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoking. Rooms and public areas of the hotel are all kept very clean though.
Location wise - 5 stars Room condition - 3 stars If you are not fussy about your room, this is a good stay. I asked for a non-smoking room but the room smells of cigarette
Toilet has black spots and looked need to be clean.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, steps from the metro, shopping, Muslim quarter, and a few blocks from the southern gate of the old city wall. Easy to find and friendly staff who spoke English. The room was comfortable but the bathroom was showing signs of age. Mildew and peeling paint in the shower, weak water pressure, but none of this would prevent me from staying again.
The room smelled like cigarettes and was a little hard to breathe in. Otherwise, it was comfortable, spacious, and clean.
Lobby is gorgeous. Used to be a 5 star hotel, but now a bit run down. No coffee. Ran out of toilet paper. Rugs and furniture are worn and stained. People spoke enough English to be helpful. Good central location, many Chinese restaurants. Strong wifi.
Hotel is ok overall for the price. Location is great, close to subways, bell tower, Muslim quarter, shopping areas...
Enjoyed our stay there, but it was not close to the Terracotta Warriors. The breakfast was very good. Had a problem with the number of days we were to stay, but the staff took care of it.
Hotel location is very great at the center of the city but the condition of the room is old
Very friendly and responsive staff. Iron and iron board provided within minutes. Nonfunctioning freezer change immediately.
Water pressure was low for showering
Very nice location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms
We stayed here for 3 nights and was perfect for us. Negatives - Rooms are basic, some of the wall paper could do with re-sticking and the bathroom ceiling could do with a lick of paint. Positives - Location, it's central to everything: Metro; bell & drum towers, city wall, small goose pagoda and the Muslim quarter. Tips - If you can, upgrade to a view of the tower, it's beautiful at night, so even have a small balcony.
I thought the location could not be better. Although an old hotel , it is clean. Having a CITS office in the hotel was very convenient.
Wouldn’t recommend. Lights in room don’t work (I used my head torch), smells of cigarette smoke throughout, advised to lock windows but the locks wriggle open with one slight shake, staff are rude (paying my bill on checkout & cleaner moved me & my luggage aside to sweep while I was talking to reception). The location is great, but there are other better value hotels in the same vicinity.
The location is perfect: the hotel is right in the town centre with easy access to the Muslim Quarter, and on a direct line with the Xi’an North train station via the #2 subway line. The staff was professional and friendly. Overall, the hotel was a good choice, though we did find the washrooms were dated (with some stains and mold on the tiles, for example). The restaurant offered a decent breakfast, but the plates and cutlery weren’t always clean.
Cigarette butts in the room when we arrived, spoke to reception and we were immediately upgraded rooms. Good service and staff speak OK English. Hotel is a bit dated but the location is the best in town.
This hotel is in the literal center of the old city and has great access to all the main attractions. However, it is in bad need of an update. Linens were stained; bed was excruciatingly hard; definite lack of care and cleanliness overall. There is a reason the lobby bar is empty--too pricey at 4x the going rate! Bell Tower is good for a one or two day stay to see the sights, but it is definitely not a place for a long stay. We were glad to move on after two days.
From hotel you can see Ming Bell and drum towers. There is a famous Chinese cultural street - food, mosque and gift shops. The Grand mosque is a must visit place - dated 7 th century. As to transportation, Metro and bus stops are nearby. Although the hotel was there for a long time, but you will ignore it. Because you will love its location.
Bathroom & corridor are smelly, other than that everything is ok. Location is the reason I chose this hotel - bus stop is just next to the hotel. Metro, Bell Tower, post office & shopping malls are just a few mins away.
Relax in the hotel garden after a day of sightseeing, a peaceful contrast to Xi’an bustle.
Dine in style at Tower Garden, with 24-hour room service available for private meals.
Centrally located at No. 110 Nan Da Jie, you can easily explore Xi’an’s sights from this address.
