We arrived with 2 friends and left with 2 more, from the moment we arrived it was like meeting friends we hadn't seen for ages. The room, breakfast and bar were exceptional, Wendy and Steve are the best!

Clean, comfortable, good location and short walk into town. Cooked breakfast was superb. Hosts were welcoming and friendly. I’ve booked already for next year.

We liked everything!

Wendy and Steve are the very, very best in hosts we have had the pleasure of meeting, from the moment we arrived to the second we parted company with them they were like 'best friends'. the room was beautiful, lovely and clean, everything you would need, and most of all so quite to get a good nights sleep in a lovely comfy bed. Breakfast was 'Michelin star' quality and lots of it! Of all the places we have stayed in Torquay and it's been a lot, this is by far the best one! We went with friends and had a great time and came away with 2 more, looking forward to going again in the spring.

A Beautiful well maintained building. Stunning wooden floors throughout the ground floor and a great bar area and snug. We enjoyed the breakfast area which is a great place to meet people, enjoy lovely food and relax especially in one of the window seats.

Steve and Wendy were brilliant hosts. They were always around to have a chat with and gave us some great recommendations for places to visit during our stay. We loved the cosy atmosphere of the hotel, the room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was delicious- I think my husband enjoyed making his way through the options on offer each day we were there.

There was nothing that we didn’t like about the stay!

Excellent breakfast, with everything you could want, including a nice fruit salad. homemade yoghurt, a range of cereals, and a cooked breakfast (with choices) which was substantial. And not forgetting the slice of cake in the afternoon. Nice garden outside where you could sit. Very friendly hosts Wendy and Steve.

Het ontbijt was enorm lekker en al het personeel was heel vriendelijk en gastvrij. Het hotel had een gezellige honesty bar en er was dagelijks verse cake gratis beschikbaar. De prijs-kwaliteitverhouding was top.

De douchedruk kon iets hoger. Het hotel ligt aan een eerder drukke baan. Ook de kussens vonden we niet top (iets te dun), maar dat is persoonlijk. Dit zijn echter details, want er waren veel meer positieve punten!

The welcome was lovely, the breakfast exceptional and cleanliness was excellent. The dining room was well decorated and light. Making water available in the wine cooler whenever we needed it was really appreciated during the 30 degrees plus temperature we experienced. Likewise the delicious home-made cakes available from breakfast to bedtime! It was also good to have off-road parking.

The bathroom was quite small and the bed not as comfortable as we would have liked. (Room 7)

Wendy and Steve were very welcoming and helpful. Our breakfasts were delicious, using quality local produce. Our room was very clean, nicely appointed and comfortable.

The property itself is nice and well-maintained, but unfortunately our experience was ruined by the attitude of the owners, who were surprisingly rude and unwelcoming. On our first evening, my wife and I were quietly reading a book in the common area when we were told that we had to go back to our room because they were closing the lounge. We found this quite strange, as guests should be able to enjoy the common spaces, especially in the evening. Another major issue was the parking situation. The listing advertised private parking for guests, but many of the spaces were occupied by the owners' personal vehicles. On the third day, I finally managed to find a free parking spot in the designated guest area. While I was resting in my room, the owners knocked on my door and asked me to move my car because the lady of the house wanted to park there. To be clear, these spaces were supposedly reserved for guests, not for the owners. I politely explained that this was inappropriate and not what we expected from a property advertising private guest parking. Their response was that I could simply park on the street. I have never experienced anything like this before.

A wonderful stay with Wendy and Steve. We had the apartment which was lovely and cool in this heatwave! Nice to have your own private entrance too. The apartment was clean and tidy, great kitchen supplies and we felt very relaxed. The space was a lovely size and was so nice to have a separate front room to relax in. We had a picnic one night in the lovely gardens and enjoyed chatting with Wendy as she watered the plants. Breakfast was lovely, with a great choice. The pancakes were the best I have ever had! Great English breakfast- the mushrooms were amazing! Lovely home made cake everyday which we had in the evenings with a cuppa. Location is great, just a short walk through the park to the sea front. We drove to Dartmouth and did the park and ride which was easy and really handy to the town centre. We drove to a beach in Dartmouth called Blackpool sands which was an amazing beach and easy to park in the car park. Parking - We had no troube parking on their forecourt and there were roads right next to it with free parking if for some reason you couldnt get in on the front. Would definately recommend! La chambre était assez spacieuse avec une petite salle de douche mais optimisée. Peu de pression toutefois dans la douche. Le lit était très confortable. Le petit déjeuner extrêmement savoureux avec un grand choix de produits. Et le vrai plus de ce lieu est le personnel, en particulier Mel absolument adorable. Le parking assez serré mais qui a le mérite d'exister ce qui est inestimable à Torquay. Tout cela à 5 minutes à pied de la mer.

Le bruit ! J'avais pourtant choisie cette chambre car décrite comme donnant sur le jardin, ce qui est vrai si un jardinet de 20m2 compte comme un jardin. La chambre 5 donne, certes sur le jardinet , mais surtout sur une intersection de 2 routes très passantes et une vue imprenable sur la voie ferrée et les trains. Il faisait chaud donc il fallait laisser la fenêtre ouverte pour avoir un peu d'air malgré le petit ventilateur. Obligation de fermer la nuit et même fenêtres fermées, le bruit est très pénible. Cela a vraiment perturbé notre séjour. Wendy m'a expliqué que les fenêtres avaient été chargées par des doubles vitrages, inefficaces de toute évidence car dans la salle du petit déjeuner, on n'entend pas du tout le bruit de la route. C'est vraiment dommage car le lieu est charmant.

Super schöne Unterkunft. Moderne, saubere Zimmer mit schönem Bad. Sehr nette Wirtin und fantastisches Frühstück. Toller Garten, um Abends noch ein bisschen draußen zu sitzen.

Sehr sauberes und schönes Haus mit liebevoll eingerichteten Zimmern! Ganz nettes Ehepaar, sehr hilfsbereit, und ein tolles Frühstück! Im Kühlschrank stehen Milch für den Kaffee morgens auf dem Zimmer sowie gekühltes Wasser und selbst gebackener Kuchen ist auch immer da :) auf der kleinen Terrasse kann man gemütlich einen Drink von der hauseigenen Bar genießen!

Die Gastgeber waren super freundlich. Das Frühstück war total lecker. Es gab Kuchen, Milch und kaltes Wasser für den restlichen Tag. Wir sind sehr begeistert.

Das Berburry bietet eine besondere Frühstücksauswahl. Das Team ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Der Bahnhof ist leicht erreichbar und ein allgemein zugängliches Kricketfield als schöne Grünfläche gegenüber.

Klasse Frühstück mit hausgemachtem Früchtemus/Joghurt, sehr gute warme Auswahl zum Frühstück, sehr freundliches Personal und ausgezeichnet freundliche/hilfsbereite Gastgeber! Wir hatten Zimmer No.2 mit Twin beds, sehr angenehmes und komfortables Zimmer!

The breakfast was delicious!

Super freundlicher Empfang bei der Ankuft. Auch das Frühstück war sehr lecker. Die Lage war gut. Haben alles zu Fuß erreichen können.

Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Das Zimmer war zwar eng, aber das lag auch am alter des Hauses.

Heel goed ontbijt, personeel was super vriendelijk, elke dag schone badkamer bed gedekt.Hulp van Wendy toen we problemen hadden met onze telefoon. Tips om ergens te gaan eten.

Steve en Wendy waren zeer gastvrij en altijd bereikbaar en aanspreekbaar. alles was ook uiterst proper! Het uitstekende warme ontbijt was all in en werd aan tafel geserveerd. het koude ontbijt stond op een buffet. Zeer goede ligging op wandelafstand van het strand, en mét privé parking!

de badkamer was aan de krappe kant, maar dat is ook wel te begrijpen omdat het een al een ouder huis is waar de kamers oorspronkelijk geen badkamer hadden.

The Berburry is a perfect location, within walking distance to the centre of Torquay and ideally located to explore Devon and surrounding counties. The hosts Wendy & Steve are both very friendly and helpful, and run their establishment faultlessly, very clean and providing consistently good breakfasts.

Very little to complained about, on site parking could be a little awkward at times for an inexperienced driver.

Liebevoll eingerichtetes B&B mit hübschem kleinen Garten. Parkplätze kostenlos. Es gibt gekühlten Wasser und Kuchen zum selbst bedienen. Kleines Frühstücksbuffet mit Cerealien, frischem Obst und selbstgemachtem Joghurt. Das warme Gericht bestellt man am Vorabend. Wir hatten Full English Breakfast, es war sehr gut. Sehr nette Gastgeber.

Der Wasserdruck in der Dusche und der Toilette ist extrem niedrig.

Das Berburry ist ein kleines und sehr feines Hotel mit Charme und einer sehr schönen Atmosphäre. Sehr nettes Gastgeberehepaar, super nettes Service- Personal. Wir haben uns gleich wie zu Hause gefühlt. Exzellentes Frühstück mit reichlich Auswahl. Begrenzte Parkplätze an der Unterkunft, Parken in den Anliegerstraßen kein Problem. Zentrale Lage, fußläufig alles gut zu erreichen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder buchen !

We stayed at The Berburry for 10 days for our minimoon and had a truly wonderful time. The rooms are absolutely beautiful— tastefully designed, and immaculately clean. Every detail feels carefully considered. The location is perfect with many options for food and activities. The breakfast deserves special mention. It was outstanding, with a fantastic variety of fresh, high-quality options. Definitely have the pancakes - our favourite. What really sets this hotel apart, though, is the staff. Every team member was superb—friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. Wendy and Steve made sure we had the best time. Thank you so much for everything! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, and a truly enjoyable experience.

The place is just a lovely place to stay

Everything was excellent, the rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. There is a bar area for guests giving a great place to relax with friends. The room we had was recently decorated, including the bathroom. The breakfast was also excellent with plenty of choices.

Location was great , staff were friendly and very accommodating , the apartment had everything we required, and the food was fabulous.

Our stay was upgraded which was ideal and a surprise on arrival.The owners were very friendly ,superb location,room,very clean. Food was superb ,best breakfast ever. Owners had time to have a friendly chat .We were able to sample some home made mince pies and also the the best ever chocolate brownies which were available in the guest room. We would highly recommend The Burberry to any one.

Beautiful room, lovely hosts and loads of extra lovely touches - a GREAT vegan breakfast (you don't normally get offered scrambled tofu if you want!) and some oat milk to have in the room for teas and coffees - really kind! The honesty bar was a lovely touch too - great stuff all round!

The building looks a little dated in places, but I appreciate the job of maintaining an older building!

Hosts were so kind, friendly and communicative. I was running late due to traffic and they were able to assist with this. The breakfast was hearty and filling with plenty of options. The hosts were also helpful with local amenities and it is a 10 minute walk to the shops, bars, and bay area.

Wendy and Steve was great Hosts. we was greeted with a warm smile. check in was easy and Steve kindly run us through all the check in information. Entering the building it was warm cosy and was exactly what we wanted. The morning breakfasts were delicious and a great choice of options. the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The home made cakes and brownies were delicious and made it feel right at home. They both went above and beyond to accommodate to ourselves and even went that extra mile. room was clean, refreshing and made our break away just perfect 👌

It was a lovely spacious room, room was spotless. Location was walking distance to everything. Hosts Wendy & Steve are fantastic hosts & the staff are very friendly !!. Breakfast was AMAZING !. Wendy is a perfect example of a cake baker which she freely offers you her examples of the day she has baked 😋 over all this is the best B&B I can honestly say I’ve stayed at & me & Fiona will be returning 😁

We had a wonderful stay at the Berburry. Wendy and Steve were exceptional hosts nothing was ever too much trouble and they made us feel so welcome. Location was perfect, just a pleasant 10 minute stroll to the beachfront with plenty to see and do nearby. Breakfast was varied, plentiful and absolutely delicious.

Just got back from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Burburry hotel. The hosts Wendy and Steve made us feel so welcome, the breakfast was amazing, the room was clean and well decorated, they also had a honesty bar well stocked with wine spirits and a selection of beers and soft drinks, again a well decorated bar area and snug ,it felt very comfortable. We usually sat outside in the garden which was very pretty and well maintained.The hotel had parking but we parked in the street ouside the hotel which had plenty of spaces available. It was about a 10 min relatively flat walk to the beach and 15 min to bars and restaurants. We would definitely recommend this Hotel.

We have just returned home from a 2 night stay at The Berburry, one of the best stays we’ve had, Wendy and Steve are a lovely couple who ooze niceness, very friendly and accommodating. Personal touches in the rooms just make your stay more comfortable, breakfast was delicious, cooked to order fresh and hot! and those brownies, wow. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

The fridge with bottled water and extra milk to help yourself, too, was a great idea, and their honesty bar is well stocked, and the prices are great. The location of the hotel is great, with a ten minute walk to the harbour. We would highly recommend staying here and would book again.

It’s such a beautiful property and the couple that own it are so incredible. Wendy and Steve were very accommodating and welcoming. The food is incredible- Wendy is sooo good. She also bakes everyday and there’s always sweet treats in the common dining area. The rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. For the quality, the prices are extremely reasonable. Will definitely be back and recommend toe friends and family visiting as well ❤️
