Lovely food, very friendly staff. Hotel was very clean and the rooms were lovely and comfortable.
Large rooms, comfortable beds, plentiful breakfast, beautiful gardens and leisure facilities.Excellent staff who were incredibly helpful in catering to our daughter’s special food needs-it made our stay completely stress free. Thank you.
Very pleasant
The staff was absolutely fabulous. Alison at the front desk took care of everything for us, including transportation and dinner reservation. She made our stay perfect and wonderful.
Beautifully decorated rooms , comfortable bed . Delicious food and friendly staff .
Great site in town, beautiful gardens, beds super comfy and Ford stunnjng. Did I tell you about the staff- some of the best and I’ve travelled many hotels in Ireland - surprising and thrilling to know the staff and their service is still to be found as pure Irish hospitality
A little dated some areas cold in temperature and aesthetics. The pool water was cold and lockers and showers need serious updating
Had evening meal and it was very good. Breakfast was also very good.
No air-conditioning of fan in the bedroom and we both had a sleepless night with the heat. Really not good enough in the middle of summer.
Staff were very nice and helpful. Rooms very comfortable
NB. I do not want these comments published on the website. They are for the hotels information only. Hotel was very busy and staff coped exceptionally well. Room was not ready until after 5.30 and then it was double booked with someone else’s stuff in the room when we went in. Very difficult situation that took a while to sort out. Table in room was not cleaned properly. Breakfast was only ok. Went for full Irish and it was on the table as soon as it was ordered. Seemed pre prepared and lacked taste We were at a family event. One of the family members was staying in apartments in the town owned by the hotel. The came to the hotel with two small children for breakfast and were told the hotel was too busy to serve them. Very dissatisfied that effort was not made.
Staff wonderful. gardens wonderful.
Staff were very attentive and hotel / bedroom was clean.
Considering the hotel was 260euro per night, the quality of food was very poor. I ate lunch in the bar (20euro for a sandwich and chips) which was average at best. The breakfast was very poor. The potatoe cubes were likely sitting in a hot hold for hours. The pancakes were also very poor, likely heated in a microwave or toaster. If the rate was approx 150-175euro per night, i would rate it as significantly better value for money but for 260eruo per night, i would expect better quality and an overall higher standard.
Nice location, good atmosphere
Thought it was over priced.
Friendly staff.
Rooms very tired.
Location n breakfast was excellent
All good
Everything was simply first class
The breakfast was excellent and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpfull.
I booked a room for my sons and they were told the room was ready and then charged for early check in.
Checkout of the hotel was 11 am which is early . 12 clock Checkout is the norm.
This hotel is very central, and close to where I was working that suited. The gardens were lovely. Two staff member - Tara, Marta and Victor were very nice and helpful.
I had asked on booking, again when rung to confirm my reservation, and on check in about a quiet room. I was assured that would be no problem. My room was next to a squeaky door at the lift. There was a lot of footfall and door squeaking. I managed to get to sleep but several times was woken. I e-mail at that stage through the message centre. Tara very kindly rang me- and said she could talk to her manager and see IF I could be moved. At that stage I did not want to pack up. I think I might have been unhappy but not cross- except when I mentioned it at checkout again- you know - maybe oil the door / if someone wants a quiet room put them further down the corridor- but the receptionist basically said he could not help as I had booked through booking.com. I was appalled. I’m not sure he even apologised. I will be writing to the hotel. Why should I be treated less well?
rooms were nice and spacious very clean, breakfast was fabulous
bar staff were very slow. wasn’t busy and lot of staff and yet took ages to get a drink
Really comfortable bed and great size room
Lots of wedding guests , we were not part of a wedding party.
Breakfast was excellent. Short walk into the town.
Beautiful hotel ,we were at a wedding but very expensive for a one night stay ,we could have gone go Spain
So so so expensive
Garden Bedrooms Staff Location
Bar and lobby were dark and not much natural light Food was okay
Property was in good location for a wedding we were attending in another venue
When we arrived there was a wedding at hotel and there was no food service all day and we were not informed of same
room, breakfast
shower was broken
The front desk staff was so helpful and nice to us
It got warm in the night. I wish we had a fan. We even had the windows opened.
The room is beautiful and the bar was good with great food.
A lovely warm atmosphere from the moment you step into the hotel

Friendly staff
Great staff, lovely bar food, very clean room
Good location. Lovely gardens and large room. Great staff Great food.
The staff were amazing, especially the staff we met at breakfast.
Excellent
I loved the pool and the vigour of the jacuzzi! Very friendly and pleasant staff, comfortable bedroom (with loud birdsong audible from the garden!), very good breakfast with sweet AND savoury cooked options, and that jugs were provided for readily refillable water at handy water stations
On arrival I was asked re payment even though I had already paid (thought awareness could be better about payment status), and on second morning, was disappointed that jacuzzi was out of order
The bedroom benefitted from a light refresh since our last stay. A very good breakfast and friendly staff.
Quick check-in. Great having water on tap.
There was work going on and a lot of noise in reception and lots of noise from 7.30am, not good, when trying to get a bit of sleep.
Very pricey classic king ihad but room wasn't that big
Food in bar was very good 👍
Staff were amazing. Food in restaurant was fantastic!
We stayed here about 2 or 3 years ago and at that time the prices were cheaper but we had a few nights where the noise from other rooms was bleeding through and we could hear everything from next rooms. However after a huge investment in the hotel, it has blossomed. The Rooms are very fancy and very comfy. The leisure centre is after getting some love too and we used it for the first time on this trip because it was so inviting. The food here was always excellent and so were the staff and that is unchanged. We left today and said "We will be back" ... I might also use it as a work stop every time i am travelling through Birr
We asked for a quiet room but the are building works viewable from our room, so at about 7:30 / 8am we had bulldozers beeping non stop. Not a biggie, next time we will just ask for a garden view room which i think would be on the other aspect of the hotel and that will solve it .... I say next time because we WILL be back !
Enormous breakfast in
Old style shower in bath

Le cadre, la chambre, le confort, le petit déjeuner
J’ai juste trouvé que l’eau de la piscine était légèrement trouble, mais sinon la piscine est cool
Room was big and clean. Bed was comfortable. Restaurant food was nice.
Leisure facilities were run down. Lifts are in need of an upgrade. Both persons staying in the hotel did not sleep well with the noise throughout the night. Staff were very friendly but service was very slow at times. Cost of stay was not value for money unfortunately.
Clean room with comfy beds. Good variety for breakfast.
Room was very clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast.
Nothing will never return here
Over packed, understaffed, cold food served, wedding party and another separate party, left very little room or service for the overnight guests. Definitely not a four star treatement.
Room was adequate for our needs, we were attending a wedding so didn't spend much time in it. Very quiet at night ,no disturbance. Breakfast was good, very varied menu to suit all tastes.
We attended a wedding and from the moment we arrived, we were taken care of. Superb spacious, modern room, beautiful food, from the buffet and prosecco, to the 5 course main dinner. The staff, each and every one, had a smile on their faces and could not have been more helpful. We were really amazed with the quality in everything. Great spot for a visit.
We have no complaints. It is located on the outskirts of Birr and there is a lovely garden surrounding as you enter the grounds, to what looks like an old country house. If it was located on 30 tree filled acres, it would improve it, but I am only saying this because that is where it deserves to be.
Great location. Clean and friendly staff.
Nothing
Liked Food.
The cold from Foyer , At entrance, I would say due to Automatic door.Ladies toilets were freezing also.
Staff were excellent Food was very good
Noise levels beneath us from porter Broken coffee machine Slow water flow in bath Water not hot etc
The staff were amazing in particular the receptionist who upgraded us.
House never knocked before walking in. But as an apology we were swiftly upgraded to the most amazing suite.
