Food is amazing!

Très jolies chambres, très bien insonorisées même quand on est à rue. Plateau d'accueil fréquemment rechargé. Salle de bain petite mais fonctionnelle avec une douche moderne, des produits d'hygiène (même des bonnets de douche) et les serviettes fréquemment changée. Décoration très cosy et très fleurie. De nombreuses pièces pour se retrouver autour d'un verre. Nourriture de qualité et à prix très correct. Personnel extrêmement sympatique.

Staff were professional, very friendly and polite. Location was great. Food, restaurant its staff were great. Breakfast was plentiful. Room was comfortable.

On arrival the toilet seat was not clean so had to sanitise this it before use. The Yale door latch was missing and there was no security chain that meant the courtyard room (therefore easily accessible by the public) could not be properly secured when occupied making it a concern.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very nice and accommodated our dog. Location is very close to beautiful walks.

The breakfast was quite expensive.

Breakfast not warm.. Decor tired and shabby. Furniture old and worn. Needs upgrading.. carpets frayed. Bemused to be phoned in room asking if we wanted room cleaning?Yes of course we did. Overall not as good as we expected.

Central location in Crickhowell with ample parking. Room was well furnished with everything that I needed. They even included a bed, towel and treats for my dog. The food there was really good with specials available every day.

Staff were great- the shower was excellent. You can park on site.

It was very expensive for what it was: and the beds were uncomfortable, it was noisy and the room was stuffy.

Sunday lunch was very poor

We loved the Bear, it was welcoming, the staff were fantastic and the food was wonderful. The hotel itself is a real gem, loads of the kind of character you’d expect from a 15th century staging inn.

Rooms could do with being update Bed was way too soft & for the money having a plastic cups in the bathroom is a no no!!

The breakfast choices were good and the food was well cooked. Our room (15) was very clean, comfortable and welcoming with biscuits and a good selection of drinks. The flowers outside were beautiful and the garden was well kept.

The coffee was very weak and rather tasteless, especially the decaf. I’d have appreciated a no smoking area in the garden as there are different places to sit

Friendly staff . Problem with our room after booking in and upgraded immediately with no hesitation no probs at all and staff so so apologetic .

Excellent location. Busy bar with good food and atmosphere. Room good size and overlooked garden at rear of hotel so no traffic noise. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Small internal bathroom with poor extractor fan. Shower over bath not comfortable to use and curtain let water escape onto floor.

General ambiance was excellent. Staff were more than helpful. Great spot in a beautiful town.

Zimmer zum Court Yard leiden unter Lärm und Geruch vom Küchenabzug, der von 10 Uhr morgens bis 22.00 läuft. Zimmer 17 ist sehr dunkel, Aussicht auf Parkplatz auf Höhe der Radkappen der geparkten Autos. Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis für Zimmer und auch für Essen in der Bar stimmen nicht.

I had asked for a quiet room and they had completely accomodated my request and the room was perfect.

The lights in the bedroom didn't work. Only the bathroom light worked. The room was noisy due to be road side.

This is a property of great charm in a central but quiet location. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms comfortable and the food excellent.

Good location near the High Street.

Room was tiny and double bed and shower room v small. Our room overlooked the road - noisy at night. Room was 'hot' because of the weather at the time. Breakfast served in a small room with plenty of people in it. The chairs were cloth covered and dirty. Breakfast itself was unimpressive.

The room was noisy all night. Load creaking floorboards from room above until midnight and from 6am. Loud water heater which clicked on and off, making us jump through out the night.

Location is fantastic and the property is full of charm.

The old world charm is showing its age, the courtyard bedroom was ok, but a bit tired, the bathroom was not up to scratch, the shower had a curtain and the floor was always wet.

The hotel was centrally located, they upgraded us without payment, the staff were polite & plentiful, the food was so gorgeous that we still talk about it now.

Efficient reception team. Lovely comfortable bedroom. Full English breakfast good - staff welcoming and attentive. Service in the dining room very good. Delicious food and wide menu choice.

I didn't like the tea or coffee served at breakfast. When my dinner reservations were in the bar area I didn't like the fact it was self service and everything had to be ordered at the bar. Considering the menu (and prices) was the same as the dining room I feel it should also be waiter service. It would make for a much more pleasurable experience. Also sometimes I'd have to wait to order my food behind customers just ordering drinks only. By the way other customers were also complaining about this system.

Beautiful building in great location, bar and meals superb.

Nothing to complain about, maybe the room being very modern wasn’t as luxurious as the rest of the building but that’s just a matter of taste and style.

Location was ideal. Room was beautifully decorated with lots of lovely touches. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked and exactly as requested. We also had dinner in the pub area which was also excellent. The staff were so helpful from the receptionist to the waiting staff - excellent service.

Lovely sized room, great bathroom with wonderfully powerful shower. Good selection of drinks and biscuits on hospitality tray. Food was excellent, both breakfasts and an evening meal on our first night which was exceptionally good. The Bear is in the heart of the village which was so convenient. Our room, 23, was along an outside corridor with its own door which we really liked.

Loads of steps everywhere, it’s not a complaint, it’s a very old lovely building but probably not for those who have mobility issues.

A lovely, friendly, historic inn with rooms is how I would describe it. The staff absolutely made it. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and kind.

I think because its very old (been around for 600 years!) there are bits that are hard to modernise but the upstairs halls felt quite dated. I think more ventilation upstairs would help too. I don't believe our bathroom air vent system was working and it did feel quite stuffy.
