The Inn was a great base for our last 2 days in The Brecon Beacons. Short walk through the field & over the bridge into beautiful Crickhowell. Very comfy room & bed. We had a delicious Jamwelsh goat curry dinner on our last night. The pub has a great village vibe. We also discovered a cute cafe up the road at Beacon Park Canal boat hire. 10 min walk from The Horseshoe.
Could have done with a towel rail or hooks in bathroom. Windows need a bit of work..you have to use brute force to open or shut. And yes...it's above a pub so just expect to hear some muffled chat n laughter..then it all goes quiet.
Friendly staff and locals. The food was excellent.

Rooms were clean and the location was very good
Rooms were not cleaned nor were the tea/coffee and breakfast items replenished throughout our stay and considering we paid for bed and breakfast, this was very poor. Also the breakfast items (croissants and pain au chocolates) we did receive has passed their expiry dates but 1 week. Staff were abrupt and unhelpful and didn’t really care about the hotel guests. Their priority was the pub guests. Also the rooms were very noisy into the evening because of the music and parties in the pub below .
My jedliśmy w The Courtroom Cafe - naprawdę wspaniałe miejsce. Podobał się nam nasz pokój. Łóżka były wygodne, więc wyspani i wypoczęci ruszyliśmy w dalszy hiking. Pomimo usytuowania przy drodze, nie można było narzekać na hałasy. Nocleg godny i warty polecenia. :)
Zdecydowanie podniosłoby to atrakcyjność noclegu choć... miało to też swój plus, bo lepiej poznaliśmy miejscowe lokale w centrum. :)
The only positive thing was the room itself: it was nicely decorated, comfortable and pleasant. Unfortunately, the issues with the security, noise, breakfast and lack of communication made the overall experience very disappointing.
Unfortunately, our stay was quite disappointing, especially considering the price and what was advertised. First of all, the door to our room did not lock properly, which made us feel very unsafe. We tried to discuss the situation with the person in charge, but the owner was not there and the young staff member on duty clearly did not know how to handle the situation or what to do about it. For us, this was a major issue. We also planned to have dinner at the pub on Sunday evening, as it was advertised as being open. However, because it was a Bank Holiday, the kitchen was closed and we were not able to eat there. It would have been helpful to know this in advance. The breakfast was another big disappointment. Booking.com states “continental breakfast and fresh pastries” and that breakfast is included in the room price. What we actually received were croissants in small plastic packets, completely squashed, along with broken biscuits. This really did not match what was advertised. Finally, the pub was extremely noisy. We were told that the music would stop around 11pm, but it was still playing well after midnight, making it very difficult to sleep. For these reasons, we can only give 2 stars. The potential is definitely there, but several important things need to be improved.
Room was fantastic food was nice but starters and desserts was a bit small for the price but mains was stunning
Starter and dessert was not enough for the price also ordered king prawns in garlic sauce as an extra also poor for the price just being honest
Rooms were tidy and comfortable
Staff member was rude at the bar. There were no tables to sit for a drink in the bar as they were all reserved for food diners, meaning we also couldn't get any food at the restaurant.
The room was excellent and spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly.
Car park was quite tight. The breakfast wasn't what was expected and quite poor
The rooms and the setting was lovely
The breakfast was a huge disappointment, especially for someone with allergies. Plus we got no response when we contacted the Inn via the website as they told us to, to inform them of our allergies.
Convenient for the festival . Comfortable and clean
Nothing
Comfortable room, nice bar with friendly staff, good selection of beers. Close to Crickhowell and a great park for the kids opposite.
Shower was a bit on the small side.
We have stayed twice before at The Horseshoe inn. We love it because of its location in the beautiful Brecon Beacons and just outside of Crickhowell. But the reason we keep coming back is that the pub is so friendly and the rooms so comfortable. Booking and checking in is very easy and we always book at least one evening meal as the food is so good. It feels feels familiar and seeing as its only an hour and a half from home its a really easy break.
There is nothing I would change.
My only issue was the position of the plug socket in room 2 to charge my phone. The only one accessible was under the dressing table which meant reaching under it to plug it in. The others were behind the bed and wardrobe
Friendly reception, lovely big clean room, good location, short walk to crickhowell.
All good. No issues.
Clean and modern room. 15 mins.walk into the village.
Really poor breakfast. Croissant in plastic, mini muffin, again in plastic, a.carton of juice, an apple and a yoghurt. Had to eat these in the bedroom. These were left in the room the evening before. Didn't match the accommodation. Would rather pay a little more and have a good breakfast. Had to go down the hill for something decent. If they can't cater, why not come to an arrangement with another establishment? Would I stay again? Probably not, probably due to the breakfast.
The staff were wonderfully accommodating for our many dietary needs and even went out of their way to provide us individualised continental breakfasts which was so kind!
As stated in the description, the room was immediately adjacent to a busy road which was a little noisy but we anticipated this. There were pipes making very loud noises as we were trying to go to sleep however which we assume may have been linked to hot water usage. Unfortunately these were so disruptive they woke us/our children a few times which was a shame!
Room was great, and very good food in the pub at their premises.
Good village pub atmosphere and made to feel welcome.
Breakfast, sufficed but could be improved.
Lovely pub just outside village. Meal in restaurant was very good too
The room was clean and tidy with a good shower and tea making facilities. Unfortunately, there was very little else on offer.
Breakfast was advertised as continental. I'm not sure which continent it came from but it did not live up to any expectations we have. A dry, pre-wrapped croissant with no butter or jam, a similarly presented chocolate pastry, an obscure flavour of yogurt and a small carton of orange juice you would expect to see in a child's lunch box. This does not represent a continental breakfast. Very disappointing!
Building, room layout, cleanliness, secure parking, ease of check-in, coffee machine.
Room too hot, bed a bit hard, no granola or milk, no eggs.
Food and atmosphere
Private car parking. Short walk to Crickhowell
A real breakfast not a take away continental would be better
Superbly clean. Comfortable bed.
It was a shame that there was only a takeaway continental breakfast
Great staff, excellent dinner food
Shame no decent breakfast just some poor quality croissants in the room
Quaint village pub with good beer. Friendly staff and locals. Secure parking. Comfortable bedroom with modern bathroom.
The kitchen was not operating which was a pity as the food is said to be good. Local eateries are available in Crickhowell.
Friendly staff- easy check-in- parking and good location for us.
All good.
Beautifully located in the lovely village of Llangattock. We went for a walk up into the hills above the village then arrived for a drink or two in the pub which was very enjoyable.
The breakfast was disappointing. I understood beforehand that it would only be continental but this amounted to two pre-packed croissant left for us in our room on our first evening (presumably to be eaten the following morning) and nothing for our second morning. I know that it was too early in the season to reasonably expect a breakfast in the dining room - which I'm sure later in the season would have been delightful.
The breakfast was very basic but enough, the dinner was good, the staff were very good.
No sockets for charging phones etc
Erittäin ystävällinen ja avulias henkilökunta.Pubi alakerrassa ja pääsi aistimaan paikallista perjantai illan tunnelmaa.
Ei sovi liikuntaesteisille, koska jyrkät portaat yläkertaan.
Everything about the place was great. Would definitely stay here again.
Bright and delightful room, thoughtful staff, and some of the best dining of our trip. Exceptional menu, delicious food!
The location was perfect for our needs & the room extremely comfortable.
We were expecting breakfast in the dining room given the listing said breakfast included. Instead there were pre wrapped croissants, yoghurt & orange juice in the mini fridge in the room. However no fresh milk was provided in the fridge for tea/coffee. It seems misleading to say breakfast is included (next to the knife & fork icon) - a question of managing expectations.
Delightful old building. Room was small but absolutely fine for one or two nights . Check in was welcoming and easy. An adequate continental breakfast was provided . Easy walk into Crickhowell or to access the canal path .
Unfortunately they were not serving food the night we were there (Monday)
Rooms comfortable
The property Wi-Fi didn’t work upstairs in bedroom. That was a big inconvenience.
Location , good menu and friendly staff.
Difficulty with parking
Location perfect Staff very good Room a good standard
Breakfast poor quality continental Shower heads needed cleansing and hairs on bathroom floor
Lovely pub for evening food. Good value to stay
We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality, and cleanliness of the rooms which were all fairly spacious, equipped and light. We come to Llangattock often to stay at grandparents but there were too many of us this time so we booked the Horseshoe. It was an excellent choice. Thank you
We were in room 1 and the boiler is in a cupboard outside the door. It made quite a loud whining sound every time it kicked in, but we still managed to sleep soundly. The wifi was terrible however and some of us were meant to be working. We had four rooms in total and noone had wifi that stayed connected so we all gave up. However this did mean we spent more together instead of working, so not a bad thing.
Clean rooms and lovely food in the restaurant, locals made us feel very welcome
Really pleasant location, room was beautiful and clean, comfortable beds and a great restful night. Food in pub was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay
Seemed recently renovated. Well situated near the race we were attending.
Location
Breakfast - Expected full breakfast when booking but only continental after booking was confirmed
Good sized room and good parking
The light blinds didn’t shield the sun early in the morning
Convenient for our visit to relatives in Brecon
Hot Breakfast would have been good The bathroom fan needs cleaning
Good location
The bag of apples, pastries and croissant ideas are very good but found some are out of date.
The Jamaican restaurant at the establishment is excellent. Great atmosphere and wonderful food, amazing selection of beers. Highly recommend
Great room for family with teens. Clean comfy friendly nice pub but not noisy. Decent shower. No cooked breakfast but very thoughtful continental available in the room. Nice touch. (And so many nice breakfast places in town)
Loo seat needs tightening!
Good location. Room nice & staff friendly
The only problems we had was the breakfast in the room items (croissants & pain au chocolate) were all out of date. The muffins need to be wrapped not just loose in the bag. We spoke to a lady who said she’d let the owner know, and changed them for fresher ones. The bathroom had a drain smell & leaky radiator.
Excellent value , friendly staff . Lovely food .
Nothing
Staff location evening meal from JamWelsh catering.
No breakfast.
Lovely, cosy rooms. Clean. View of the park and beyond opposite. Warm, cosy bar and restaurant below. Welcoming staff. Excellent Jamaican Welsh restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the food!
Only a small car park but managed to park opposite alongside the park so not terrible.
Everything, lovely stuff, good sized room, nice breakfast bag with vegan selection and perfect location
nothing
Clean, comfortable room, up stairs. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. The room is above a pub so heard the people out of the pub at closing time but the people did not make a nuisance. The hotel clearly states continental breakfast only, and this was provided in the room, including yogurt and drink in a small fridge in the room + access to a great hot drinks machine in the pub. Dinner can be had in the pub but strongly recommend to book in advance because it is a very popular pub. The food was very good with generous portions. Parking in the pub backyard. Perfectly placed to walk up the Crug Hywel Table Mountain.

Comfortable room, friendly staff.
Lack of available plug points.
It had a cosy feel and great pub downstairs which we had drinks in. Local to Crickhowell- about a 15 minute walk.
It’s very basic which we knew we were getting due to price of our stay. We were woken at 6am by barrels being delivered/moved which was a shame. Also we were above the kitchen so the room we were in had a kitchen smell of fried food.
It’s authenticity. A quiet location with a well presented room that was comfortable and clean. Felt very serene with slight noise from the pub below. Not enough to be disturbed. Tea and coffee facilities with biscuits. Breakfast options were left in a small fridge in the room ( yogurt and fruit juice) along with wrapped croissants, pain au chocolat and fresh fruit. Had a restful night and loved the ambiance of the property although we arrived too late to eat there.
There wasn’t anything.
Helpful staff. Lovely walking through the town. Good eating options. The room is above a pub but quiet the night we were there. People were very friendly
Absolutely nothing. It was a lovely spot to spend a few days walking about
Room was clean and cosy. Food amazing in the restaurant downstairs and the lady who runs it is very kind!
NO BREAKFAST INCLUDED! No obvious area to check in. We entered into a very busy and cramped pub with all of our luggage, trying to be noticed or work out who to approach. The guy behind the bar eventually ‘checked us in’, taking us around the back and up to our room.
We were given two room keys instead of a room key and a key for the back door (to be used if getting back to the hotel after it closed). This meant we were locked out (just after midnight). We tried ringing the property but nobody picked up. We messaged and no one responded. We eventually knocked on the door to the pub cottage and were let in. We received no apology from the staff. We were preparing to spend the night sleeping in the car.
Great location, recently renovated room all very clean. Breakfast bag a bit mean and unimaginative. No staff around in the morning so had to work out how to switch on lights in bar. Don’t like dealing with Booking.com - too many emails - would prefer to deal directly with pub. We booked a table and ate at the pub - food/drink/atmosphere/staff great. Overall positive experience.
The food was very good. Staff friendly. Room was a good size with a comfortable bed. We would stay again.
It was a bit noisy but no more than expected above a pub on a Saturday night and did quieten down at a fair hour.
Pub downstairs - good vibe
Very noisy neighbors watching TV and tbvh the breakfast was pretty poor. Those 2 processed stodgy croissants and the orange juice… Anyhow that was rather a disappointment
The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly. The ensuite was excellent and the restaurant reasonably priced.
The accommodation is advertised as bed and breakfast, but that was not the case. The room information sheet clearly states that breakfast is not provided. There was a bag with croissants and an apple, but that's not breakfast in my book.
Location was lovely , enjoyed a nice pint at the bar during the Rugby , room was really nice , clean with tea , coffee , snacks etc
no complaints
This is a lovely vibrant local pub with food and rooms. The rooms were very modern and comfortable and warm. The food in the pub was excellent.

Very friendly staff - very nice pub downstairs too and room was as expected and comfy enough. Jamaican food was great for an evening meal.
Showerhead needed to be upgraded. Lack of proper breakfast. Only a basic breakfast bag was given.
Was above a pub that had a fantastic atmosphere. The owners and staff were really helpful and friendly.
Our shower wasn’t great.
Clean and well kept
Car park was a bit of a pain, poorly parked customers due to no marks
The location was perfect. My brother and his family live 2 doors from the Horse Shoe.
Really comfortable room. Very friendly staff. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Food brilliant
Nothing
Welcoming host, very relaxed about check out
Nice quiet neighbourhood, characterful pub!
We were hoping to eat at the pub but the chefs were on holiday so we had to walk 15/ 20 minutes into the town Found a lovely pub with home cooked food so all was good! Room was very compact!
Just a good solid hotel, easy check-in
Nothing particularly
Very homelly pub staff really politr and helpfull
Lovely warm and cosy room with the added surprise of an excellent breakfast box in the morning. Great bar too.
food was unavailable at the time
Clean, quiet and comfy.
Characterful and in a lovely village location in the Brecon Beacons .
Rooms lovely and clean. Lovely old pub.
Breakfast would have been nice addition although there was tea, coffee and hot chocolate available in dining room.
Friendly staff and warm pub. Great food, welshjamish, curry goat and plantain was fab.
Nothing
Comfy, tasteful room and friendly staff. Lovely location.
Nothing
The Food was excellent — freshly cooked meals using local ingredients. The staff were friendly, and the pub had a warm, cosy, welcoming atmosphere. It is located in a quiet village just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and local canals, making it ideal for countryside walks and exploring the surrounding area. Its rooms are small but cosy and tastefully decorated — compact yet comfortable, which gives the hotel a homey, intimate vibe.
The car park is quite small and very poorly lit, with various obstacles like benches and beer barrels that are hard to see in the dark. Unfortunately, visitors who don’t know the layout of the parking area are at risk of damaging their vehicle. I would strongly recommend improving the lighting or clearing the space for better safety.
Great location and room. Spacious and comfortable.
Beautiful room, super comfortable bed, great pub!
No breakfast. Dinners were very good. Warm friendly atmosphere.
The staff went above and beyond. The room was immaculate and a lovely space. Friendly atmosphere.
Nothing, everything was perfect
