The food and breakfast.
Location and clean.
In error i had made a double booking on Booking.com, and even while the hotel was not fully booked, they refused to make any compromise. I found the staff member i dealt with uncompromising and unsympathetic with the Manager sitting at the bar and not saying anything. I had received notice of a booking from the Dragon Inn in two seperate emails beore the payment deadline. I assumed it was a duplication as it never referred to bookings or gave any references. This is not unusual today. Had they said bookings, i would have cancelled one of them when i had the opportunity to do so. Booking.com weren't helpful either, saying it was with the Dragon Inn to sort out. I do take responsibility too for the issue, but it was not clear from either side that i had made a double booking at different dates in my name. Some understanding would have been nice. I therefore took the 2 rooms and slept in both to compare. Room 7 was ok, but a very soft and very uncomfortable bed, where it felt some of the springs had gone. You are also above the kitchen so with the window open, you can hear some of the noise as they set up for breakfast. Room 19 in the Annex on the ground floor was noisy. You can hear every movement from the room upstairs through creaking floorboards, and the noise when people go upstairs. A barking dog didn't help either.

Great location and very comfy beds
Breakfast was continental and not full cooked options included. Made it fast but a bit limited.
Lovely location and the room was bright and clean however the fan from the kitchen which was right below our room was very noisy. We booked because it included breakfast only to be told full English was extra. 2 of the party booked full English which was very poor however the contintal was very good but an addtional charge for a fresh cappachino was a little much. It is advertised as dog friendly which it was but we where ejected and moved 5 yards to eat the staff member was rather rude. The front of house eastern european lady and the bar men where absolutley delightful. I would stay again as it us a beautiful location and the garden is lovely but it needs to be made clear that there are alot of stairs and breackfast is additional i would rate it 6 out of 10
Centrally located in a really well serviced village. The Inn is a great all rounder offering good lodgings, an excellent buffet breakfast and lovely evening meals. For an off-peak midweek stay, on-site parking is easy and there is no noise from the pub and its environs. Walking routes start very close to the village.
Having said parking and a lack of noise were positives, bear in mind this may not be the case on all occasions. The car park is small and the entrance very narrow whilst the rooms are adjacent to a large beer garden or directly over the Inn. However, we had a fantastic stay in mid-September.
He had a lovely friendly welcome. Fabulous meal on Wednesday evening. Can’t really fault anything.
Nothing
Clean, comfortable rooms in great location. Staff were lovely. Delicious breakfast.
The room was quite hot as at top of building. There was no stand up shower just a hand held over the bath.
Great location in Crickhowell. Comfortable room. Good shower. Breakfast was cold continental but you could order from the breakfast menu for a extra charge. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great location with lovely outside area/garden. Decent breakfast with variety of help yourself options.
There wasn’t really anything to dislike.
The Welsh rarebit was an absolute delight.
Room was small but clean and well kept. Dinner was good. Hotel/pub has good atmosphere and well situated.
We booked and paid for a "superior" room with breakfast. The room we were given was not "superior" but a small clean standard. There was no window. There was restricted headroom in bedroom and bathroom. There was only the bed to sit on. In discussion with the manager we were told that the sole criteria for a room to be "superior" is that it has a raised shower head as opposed to a tap fitment. In our opinion this sole feature does not make a room superior. The included breakfast food consisted of only cereal and toast, therefore not even a proper "continental". Other items were available at extra charges. Having paid for a superior package, we were very disappointed and did not receive value for money. No conciliatory gesture or compensation was offered by the manager or the "owners" in a subsequent email exchange.
So clean and in the city center. There are so many adorable shops to walk to.
I am sorry we are not here longer!
Lovely Beer garden
We had a room next to the road which was quite noisy at times
In a good position in Crickhowell with comfortable rooms and lovely big garden.

Location, car park on site & the restaurant all great Given the heat during my stay the room was amazing and cool which made for a great nights sleep The beer garden was fantastic, a very relaxing area to enjoy the valley views
Lovely comfortable room, tasty food, really friendly staff, beautiful beer garden
Nothing!
Location
Very poor breakfast choice bread, cereal. Old Dry pastries, yogurt that’s was it ,
Mattress
Comfortable room and good food
Great location, lovely garden out the back. Staff friendly on arrival.
Breakfast included was stated as Continental but it was very minimal. Packaged cereal, yoghurt pot, bread and toaster.
Beautiful old coaching inn beautiful garden including a stunning hydrangea hedge! The room is stylish nice toiletries but far far too small, for two people and we are not large there was hardly room to swing a cat (room two) we had nowhere really to put our suitcase apart from to move the desk/dressing table seat away and put it under there. Literally no other space we were pushing around each other. I’id absolutely no idea that the room would be so small. The breakfast was not generous. While the continental breakfast was included, there was no fresh fruit other than apples and oranges in a bowl for example, no fruit salad, prunes, raspberries et cetera. No pastries or bread rolls . at all. The price of the cooked breakfast on top of the price of the room would’ve been quite expensive. By 9.45 there were about 4 slices of bread left in the bread for toast basket and this was not topped up. We did not want any more but it was not a generous looking breakfast. The apple juice was very watered down. This is a great inn and location and seems to be very popular. The young staff were lovely. On the plus side also we had lovely drinks and the dinner that we had a the night of arrival was good. The basic breakfast and the tiny room size let it down.
Good food lovely building nice town
Lady who said that 13.5 tog duvet was all you had! Manager who swore at staff (a joke?) 'Breakfast' was very poor.
Very difficult to find a positive
Room was an attic room - very hot - I am tall no static shower banging head No a/c Booking with breakfast - then told was continental! Cooked had to pay extra! Stayed 3 nights 2nd morning breakfast had little choice other than toast - staff very matter of fact - asked off ice and was given, but made aware not a lot a lot available .
Good location Lovely beer garden at back of property Big car park but very difficult access Spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom lovely soft towels and bedlinen
Very small room No cooked breakfast
The location
Our booking was "breakfast included" ... however only Weetabix or Frosties and toast (all self service) were included, anything else had to be paid for . A not very good fried breakfast was £11.95. The room was okay, but the en suite was definitely not. A small "corner" bath was situated under the low sloping ceiling in the eaves of the building. The only way to shower was by sitting in the bath. I have stayed at the Dragon on numerous occasions and never before been disappointed, nor have I had to pay for a "breakfast included" breakfast twice! I will never stay there again.
Great location and comfortable room
A hot breakfast would have been nice
All good
Staff
Friendly staff good location
Fantastic location Very clean
Breakfast options very poor Short staffed so no cooked breakfast Parking facilities such a narrow entrance so had to be so careful not to damage car
Friendly
Inexpensive hotel no complaints
Perfectly located for the town. Very large room. Good cooked breakfast. Lovely dining room
Nice beds. Our familyroom had a small private deck which was lovely since the weather was good.
De locatie en de tuin
Badkamer te laag in kamer 10. Kan niet staand douchen
The private and secure parking behind the pub was an important feature for us. Great location and lovely old property with very good food. The welcome wasn’t as warm and informative as most places we stay.
Nothing wrong with the property
We had a great one night stay. The kitchen had a flood, completely out of the control of the staff. This was managed well and also good business sharing offering we head to a nearby hotel for food. The staff were fab and friendly. Would return
Nothing we didnt like
It was central to explore the area. The room was lovely and clean with tea and coffee and plenty of hot water. We booked a meal for the evening which was really delicious. There is a roomy car park at the rear. The staff were all friendly. There is a continental breakfast included. Cereal, toast, juice, tea, coffee was plentiful. The cooked breakfast menu is extra but the menu is excellent and reasonably priced. Wish we stayed another night to try it out!
The entrance to the car park is quite narrow. It just requires a bit of care getting up to the parking. It’s fine once you are there.
The location. Beautiful gardens, friendly staff, good food, run out of pies (shame)
Nothing
The location
Free breakfast was poor.Room was extremely hot and spent all night waiting for a fans. Unfortunately, pub was very busy, so there no time for anyone who stayed overnight
Fijne hotelkamer en badkamer, heerlijke tuin, goede locatie om de omgeving te verkennen. Héél lekker eten!
Eigenlijk niets, maar in het weekend kan het het nog tot laat lawaaiig zijn op het terras.
We loved the area, the facilities are really good.
We didn't like that we paid for bed & breakfast, when we went down for breakfast we were told we had to pay for the cooked breakfast as it was only continental breakfast included with our price we paid. We wasn't told when we went into the breakfast area that this was the case.
Comfortable beds, good shower, excellent facilities in the room, in a lovely old pub in pretty Crickhowell with a lively bar downstairs. What's not to love?!
The breakfast in the morning is cereal and toast, with cooked breakfast as paid-for options on top. These looked delicious, but we hadn't budgeted for this, so stocked up on cereal and American style coffee!
Lovely atmosphere and staff, easy access to everything in the area
There was nothing I didn’t like
Clean and functional room, nice breakfast (great coffee) and ideal location in town centre.
Ground floor room was a little noisy at times, being located adjacent to thoroughfare.
Everything I expected and more
Nothing, everything was good
Fantastic location
Nothing
Location is good. We can walk around. Our room has a door that can be opening an open space with a nice view.
Good to have fans in the room during the hot weather. As we face the open space where people can have dining, it can be noisy at night. The entrance to the parking is pretty narrow.
Locarion
Bedroom above the kitchen extractor fan - loud, smelly and on until late!!
Spacious, nicely decorated room and en-suite bathroom, spotlessly clean, super-comfy bed. No noise at all from other rooms. Friendly staff, very pleasant and helpful. Food is exceptionally good with emphasis on local ingredients/suppliers. Beer garden was wonderful in good weather, with superb views.
The entrance to the car park is VERY tight, although the car park itself is fine. We managed it ok pulling in the wing mirrors, but if you’ve got a larger SUV (XC90, Q7) you might not squeeze in.
Unfortunately we arrived too late for a evening meal as we had to make a detour due to road works, but the food being served to those already seated looked very appetising. In the morning, we had the continental breakfast which was fine.
Unfortunately our car is rather wide and although it should have gone up to the carpark with a small gap at each side. I caught the passenger back door and scraped the paintwork. It was a little distressing on a reasonably new car but this was in no way the fault of the accommodation.
Location, quirky property, great room size and cleanliness. Meal at dinner was delicious
Rooms are clean but Pub itself not very clean Breakfast served on very old timber boards which are very unhygienic
loved the beer garden , room very comfortable and great location , all staff very friendly
did not like the parking very narrow entrance only just got car in , with the help of friends . also thought cooked breakfast was included wast aware it was only cereals and toast .had to pay extra for cooked
Winter duvet on a hot night. An opportunity to use a thinner one would have been good - plenty of cupboard space in the room!
Great base for cycling, very friendly staff, good food
The location was good. The restaurant is convenient and the hotel has a large back garden. There are activities for small children and there’s a back gate that connects to a walking path that is a short walk to a playground.
The parking lot is nigh impossible to park in and it’s the owners responsibility if there’s any damage. We watched a car try to pull in and swipe the one side trying to enter the car park. We decided to park elsewhere and pay since we didn’t want to damage our hired car. I requested a fan as there was a heat wave while we stayed. I was told none were available. Several other customers were in the same boat as me. I also requested an invoice from the hotel, however, I was told I had to get it from booking.com as that’s how I booked. On booking.com it says you have to contact the accommodation to receive an invoice. When I finally got it, it was listed as unpaid and I needed a paid invoice to claim for work. I have yet to receive a paid invoice.
Really clean and comfortable Great location
Hot breakfast was not included in price
Bed comfortable. Coffee was very good at breakfast
The noise from the next door room. No sound proofing so could clearly hear all the conversations and other noise in room next door, room 17. Also noise from the pub garden meant we had to close all the velux windows and it was very hot. Disappointing that there was just toast and cereal for breakfast. Last time we stayed included cooked breakfast. Parking access very very tight!
Proximity to town centre . Parking in car park.
Room very small , no shower , bath difficult to use due to being in the eves. Very basic cereal and toast breakfast included. Additions had to be paid for .
Fab place all good
The location.
Parking is impossible for larger vehicles. Dining room table not laid or cleaned for breakfast. Very small room. Not good value for the money.
The Dragon Inn is a very welcoming small hotel. The building is old so the rooms can be a little quirky but they are always clean and comfortable. The staff are helpful, efficient and very welcoming, and the food is a real highlight.
Room, was excellent. Added bonus of a bath. Staff very helpful and friendly. Plenty of parking room.
Hidden costs on breakfast. Would have prefered to have known upfront.
Rooms were comfortable
Staff were extremely rude especially in the morning refusing to print or provide a invoice also another customer asked for a cappuccino coffee and was told he was to busy to make it yet he was stood behind the bar on his phone it was a awful experience the worst Iv had in a long time also I booked breakfast then was told it was to be charged it’s a total joke and badly run lovely place terrible staff there are better places locally
the staff and location of the hotel
I wasnt impressed with the fact that the cost of breakfast wasnt included in the Room Rate.
Location
Couldn't park as entrance to car park too narrow for a large car Breakfast included only toast and cereal only , not advised of this at time of booking
Room was very comfortable and clean.
Our booking confirmation stated that we had paid for breakfast but we were told by staff that this was not included and we needed to pay £22.00, when we queried this we were told it was a Booking.com error and it had happened before. We paid again but it spoilt our stay.
Clean and comfortable. Fine for an overnight stay. I was out too early to try the breakfast so wasn't able to comment on the food. Staff professional and friendly.
Room a bit small, but functional. The walk-in shower worked fine but made the rest of the bathroom a bit wet, but it wasn't a big problem.
Great location in the heart of Crickhowell . Lovely staff, food was amazing, atmosphere was good. Continental breakfast was fine. Accommodation was great !
Greater selection of Welsh ales like HPA and felinfoel or even landlord.
The inner is in the middle of the village. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Food is great! Highly recommend!
Attentive staff, good breakfast, room was adequate.
Mattress wasn’t very comfortable. Shower wasn’t very powerful.
Excellent location, very comfortable beds, friendly staff and great breakfasts. The pub garden that opens into the playground was amazing for our kids.
Bathroom was a bit tired and needed updating.
Great location
Restaurant/ food dinner not good.
Beautiful location. Lovely room clean comfortable and spacious.
Clean comfortable room. Central location
I liked the situation of the property and the quirky old building. I liked it being dog- friendly.
The access to the carpark was tight. We were aware of this. The room was very warm the first night. We sorted the heating for the second night, so it was more comfortable.
Location fab, dicription of bed and breakfast miss leading as have to pay for hot breakfast-workman going threw restaurant whilst eating
Location superb, tricky entrance to car park but doable with care.
Bed too soft. Eaves room so 6' 3" partner a little cramped. Dinner was okay. Food mediocre. Wine prices excellent. Had to pay for cooked breakfast so pushed up the price for a one night stay.
Pleasant, clean old hotel in excellent central location. Friendly and helpful staff. Good parking, although access quite tight for larger vehicles.
Nothing material. Limited headroom in ensuite to room 10 not ideal for taller people.
It was a really lovely place to stay and i would certainly stay there again, however, for the cost it would have been good to have a shower in the room. I was on the top floor with low ceilings and a shower simply wouldn't have fitted in, so perhaps those rooms should be a little bit less. There was very little vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian options on the menu. Otherwise really friendly staff who were very welcoming and helpful.
very good food and area
All staff very friendly and welcoming. Nice homely feel
The room I was initially allocated (3 night stay) had a short bath with a shower head fitted to the taps. The location of the bath is end on under the eves, so impossible to shower unless knelt down. There was no shower curtain provided (impossible to fit) so I was anxious of water going everywhere. To be fair, when I mentioned this to the staff I was allocated a different room, so I couldn't have expected more. Unfortunately that room was situated above the kitchen, so conversations, washing up and general noise until the late hours. I appreciate it's a working pub/restaurant but the staff could be a little more aware of residents. Also due to a food intolerance, I requested a meal without an item which would make me vary ill. Unfortunately the food was presented to me without any adjustments made (I'm so glad I checked). I received an apology and the meal was replaced. This really isn't acceptable now days as all staff will be aware of allergies and intolerance.
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, super friendly staff , beautifully clean and lovely food. Excellent
It was perfect
We've stayed before so knew what to expect. Great location, good parking ( though slightly awkward access), lovely rooms and the garden is beautiful. Good breakfast.
Disappointing to have to pay more for a shower you can stand up in. Miniscule amount of beans with the traditional breakfast and only one slice of toast.
Clean and comfortable Superior double room, a little smaller than expected especially for 2 people sharing I would have thought.
Having to pay extra for a hot breakfast when having booked 2 weeks in advance, breakfast was included in price of room and no mention of this being a cold breakfast only!
Room was excellent and the breakfast good
