Beautiful room. Elegant and comfortable.
A1++++++++++
Lovely old property with fantastic history
I have severe osteoarthritis and felt embarrassed when trying to use stairs as no lift to my first floor room.
Clean; lovely staff; great bed and shower ; excellent fixed price even g meal
The breakfast wasn’t quite up to the standard of everything else
Amazing venue, gorgeous rooms, impeccable service....literally can't fault a thing. I stay here often for work, the best hotel in / near Stamford by a mile.
Our room was fabulous, and we loved sitting out in the evening very relaxing stay 🙂
Location, ambience
Nothing
Location, staff and food

Lovely hotel and facilities and great location. Staff very helpful.
The staff were so friendly ..
Lovely grounds, well appointed spacious bedrooms, and nice public rooms
Parking spaces reserved for non residents, difficult to park.
Style of the property and position
The room size
Great location very comfortable and staff were excellent
No where to put the clothes and very awkward to get out of the bed
Nice room, comfortable bed
Breakfast could have been better
Friendly, helpful staff.
Shower wasnt great to control.
A good choice of food, prompt delivery of cooked breakfast and coffee. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were impressed with the Verrio suite. Our room was very clean. Plenty of parking space and ideally located for the town and Burghley House and Park. For us it was just a one night stopover so it was perfect being just off the A1. We would definitely return.
The public areas of the hotel were, in places, a bit grubby/tatty.
It’s history Ample Parking Great location
what a gorgeous hotel! I was put in the "Wild Floral" room and I was impressed at how the staff just somehow knew I would love a very light, feminine room with flowery wallpaper and very elegant furnishings. breakfast was delicious and the hotel is just a short walk away from the main center of Stamford village (which is one of the most adorable towns I've visited!) will definitely be back for a stay at the William Cecil whenever I get the chance!
service at the breakfast was very good. Room was lovely and everywhere was comfortable and clean
Only negative (only small) was bed was almost too big for the room. Very little room to walk between wall and end of the bed.
Staff were friendly and efficient, room was very comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast, both excellent. The set menu for dinner was very good value for money. We were only sorry that we were only with you for one night.
Alles. Mooie kamer, mooi hotel, vriendelijk personeel, goed eten, prachtige lokatie, parkeerplaats, kasteel dichtbij, leuk oud stadje
Niets
Lovely old fashioned hotel, clean and comfortable. ALL the staff were brilliant. The bedroom was clean and comfortable, beds excellent.
The outside area for drinks and snacks needed a sweep and tidy and some of the umbrellas were broken, prices were high for everything.I was surprised at breakfast that there were no serving tongs to get bread or pastries and the butter was left uncovered. The shower cubicle was very small. There was loud traffic noise all time but that is not the fault of the hotel.
イングランドのquaintな建物
近くに宿泊施設が少なく仕方ないかもしれないが、高価である点
Generally good location
Staff seemed permanently confused
Nice staff, very comfortable and clean
No issues at all
Location. Ambience
Location
Needs more personal touches in room.
Well what can I say; one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in the UK. Beautiful location, great food, comfortable rooms and exceptional staff. I have to mention Kirsty and Maddie who were exceptional; a lot of top hotel staff could learn a lot by watch these two people. Thanks to all staff, seen and unseen, we will definately be back
For the first time ever I can not find fault with the hotel. Yes you could put air conditioning in the rooms but that would destroy the feel of the rooms.
Free parking - I arrived early in the day for an event in Stamford (not at the hotel). It was busy as a wedding was going on. Friendly staff. Clean room and very comfortable bed. Lovely hot shower when I got back late and whilst I initially thought the fan type air con would keep me awake it didn’t. Fresh milk in the fridge for a hot drink rather than plastic pots. Breakfast excellent. Would stay again.
Beautiful hotel
Evening Meal was good. Good location Had a problem with the shower but they moved us to a different (better) room without any fuss
Nothing really wrong - just perhaps not the best overall as other places we have stayed
Hotel was in a good location with path to burghley house. Hotel is nice and breakfast was lovely.
We was put in a room right next to wedding disco and base was making the room vibrate. Hotel didnt have courtesy of telling us and phone didn't work to call reception. Music went on till 12am
A very attractive hotel near the town Good parking available Lovely bedroom First impressions very good with attractive grounds and gardens
Dining room was a modern bistro and lacked the ambience of the rest of the hotel although the food was very good. The conservatory breakfast room was very crowded and oppressively hot - we had to move through a very crowded space to the buffet table next door to make toast etc.
Stayed in a fantastic room (no 11 Chinois). Superb decor and comfort.
room was ecxcellent
it is what is- a fine , small hotel
Breakfast
Staff need hospitality training. No Lighting to find entrance. Needs signage
The building's interior, each passage, each common room was kept as a reflection of the estate. The food was good. Although an oversalted avocado toast was inedible. The gardens were nice. The staff were friendly and accommodating!
The sparseness of shelving in or near the bathing area in the guest room. A stool was provided.
Breakfast was good and had a good selection
Although the room decor was old it was in character with the building. But the best thing was I had THE best sleep I’ve had in a long long time. The bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was so good. Opted for the Kipper which was delicious. Couldn’t fault the place Bought discounted tickets for Burleigh house. Quick short cut from hotel to the house which incorporated a beautiful walk. Great cocktails
Nothing
Great location, beautiful surroundings and atmosphere, lovely small cosy room, well designed, stylish, super clean bathroom. Delicious breakfast.
The price (only joking)
Traditional and comfortable
Great location. Clean and comfortable.
Coffee machine could do with instructions on use.
Stunning setting and lovely building. The room was really amazing.
Staff were excellent 👍 location ideal for the house and Stamford.
20% service charge!
Lovely, clean, friendly. Been a couple of times now Great location
The rooms can be really warm If eating in the hotel in the evening would be nice to have a small discount as an incentive. Food was lovely though
Beautiful spacious and stylish room with an absolutely comfortable bed. Very clean. Staff were a pleasure and went out of their way to make our stay that little bit extra special. Breakfast was a gastronomic delight with freshly prepared food on order. Excellent.
Couldn't fault the William Cecil
Friendly staff, amazing room. Plus the breaks was delicious
Lovely room in the annex. The food is the restaurant was exceptional. The lounge was lovely, peaceful and cosy to enjoy a drink. Breakfast was lovely too! A short walk from the town and in to the grounds of a stately type home which was very pretty to explore.
No complaints!
Everything regarding the hotel was fine.
I was put in room 28 and was disappointed it only had a bath and never had a shower. I might have missed this when l booked? However the room bathroom is plenty big enough to fit one 😃
A lovely hotel, full of character, on the edge of town. The staff were friendly and welcoming and our room was very comfortable.
There was nothing I had issues with.
Lovely room and setting
The only thing was we ordered lunch and the flat bread wasn't warm and it was quite expensive for a light bite but the fire was on and enjoyed the setting
Breakfast was fine, and food generally good.
Appreciate the age of the building, but the room was very poor for a four star hotel. The fittings were abysmal, and some not fit for purpose and others somewhat rough and possibly a danger. This is was our experience of room no. 2 Troy , Disappointing for a special occasion.
Breakfast was very good, cooked offerings very tasty.
Could not open the bedroom window so it felt stuffy. Would not like to be there in summer!! The bathroom was very dark and a bit dingy, could do with an upgrade.
Alt, renovierungsbedürftig
Mooi tuintje met voorjaarsbloemen (sneeuwklokjes). Comfortabele kamer. Rustig. Zeer verzorgd aanbod koffie/ thee. Kleine extra’s (verzorgingsproducten badkamer, melk in frigo, koekjes…)waren heel fijn. Lekker avondmaal en lekker ontbijt. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.
Bed was vrij klein voor 2 personen.
The location was absolutely perfect. Everything we needed was so accessible. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were immaculate and comfortable and the food was outstanding. The hotel was beautiful and had a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Having to leave!
Great room
Easy access to Stamford and garden kissing gate access into Burghley House parkland. Good restaurant set meal. Helpful staff.
Very comfortable and welll equipped room
Staff are very friendly Lunch was out of this world , the food was the best we have had in a long time
Breakfast needs better organising , the full English we had was excellent.. however the ‘breakfast room ‘ needs to be better organised, the water / drinks bar area and table where you help yourself to toast and pastries was not what we expected for this calibre of hotel , looked like it had all be thrown on the table in a hurry
main entrance was not obvious on first arriving, looked more like the entrance into a restrauant.
Lovely staff very friendly great location
The mens toilers were a bit tired compared to rest of hotel TV in room not hanging straight and a bit small lots of stairs to bedroom but it is an old hotel so to be accepted and these are very minor issues the hotel is lovely
Loved the room, the place, the food and location
It was a surprise at checkout to have service charges applied to everything automatically, even for a drink and cup of tea which I would happily have got and taken to our table but was told it would be brought to us.
The breakfast was amazing
Didn't know in advance that the room was in an 'annex'
