Breakfast was exceptional
Close to the town centre. Large car park.
The food was amazing
Everything was fine
Lots of choice and very good quality breakfast Lovely courtyard and garden
Traditional room good but should upgrade bedding to incorporate a duvet. Also no tea making in the room is a minus
I have a slit disability and i asked for a walk in shower ,i got one but on the highest floor in the hotel with many steps. In order to get to the toilet you had to walk down two sets of steps totally wrong for my condition .
As above
So very central to Stamford, very historic and comfortable. Plenty of available staff to help with checking in/out and to assist in any questions.
Nothing
In the centre of the town, staff are so generally nice and very helpful
The only aspect of our room we didn’t like was the bedding, sheets and blankets, prefer a duvet, so much lighter and easier to move
Bedrooms were newly refurbished. Staff were super welcoming and breakfast was amazing.
The hall carpet needs changing. Maybe a patterned one next time so it doesn’t show all the spills. No bread served with lunchtime soup.
Wonderful History Wonderful staff huge character in the place fantastic Dinner and breakfast superb atmosphere- From the greeting at reception from the beautiful smiling genuinely happy ladies Jelena (from 🇱🇻 Latvia ) and her colleague whose name au did not get (sorry to her!!) to everyone who made our stay so special. Wonderful place also Stamford - the Hotel dates back a thousand years. The Hotel Manager (another lovely lady!!) came and greeted us before dinner and also gave us the warmest of welcomes
Loved it all.
Excellent attentive staff, good meals and great location. Dog friendly.
Expensive. Bar very average. Good as a treat.
Well staffed , helpful staff. Lovely outside / covered sitting and dining area. Beautifully lit at night. Characterful building , centrally located. Variety of bars . Good breakfast.
Heavy uncomfortable bed covers , not duvets. Prefer to make my coffee/ tea in my room when I fancy it rather than having it delivered and at a specific time. No extractor fan in bathroom . Food and drink very overpriced. Some was ok , but eg. had a very mediocre beef sandwich on arrival - would expect some sort of premium bread and tasty pastrami at least for the price. Ate in the Garden room on first night , mostly ok food but my sea bass was very bland and uninteresting . Wine mark up ridiculous . Good service though, attentive staff. Had a far nicer and cheaper meal elsewhere the next night. Overall , glad we stayed there , but wouldn't eat there again , just enjoy drinks in the garden or bars , at a price ! The convex mirrors absolutely everywhere are a bit much !
A wonderful meal in the Garden Room. A lovely bedroom with comfortable furniture. But it was the little extras that meant a lot, like two members of staff turning down the bed at night. And when my wife asked for a cup of tea in the evening a whole pot, beautifully laid out on a tray, was brought to our room.
It was very nice. Very friendly staff. The food was amazing.
Our bed sheets had some holes in it.
Every thing it was perfect
Beautiful old building, decorated in keeping with its age.
Nothing
Dinner was exceptional. Staff were very courteous.
Lots of stairs
The historical building in such a prime location make this a great place to stay. Staff were generally very helpful and friendly.
The rooms and breakfast were of good quality but the price might lead you to expect a little more
friendly personal service. great parking.
Being an old building with lots of stairs the property is only suitable for the able-bodied Could have done with some steps to get into bed
The George is a beautiful historical hotel in the heart of Stamford. I have to admit, what I liked the best about the George this visit is the Air Conditioner. With the heat waves hitting often in the summer. It was nice to get some relief from the hot temperatures.
Location was perfect. The staff are excellent, in fact the best trained hotel staff I have ever experienced (note: I have travelled to over 80 countries and stayed at many 5 star hotels in my life)
The main bar closed quite early. However there may be local reasons for that. The ‘champagne bar wasn’t very atmospheric after dinner.
Perfect location and lovely room
Beautiful hotel with air conditioning. Large room and bathroom
Everything- especially the fact that it is family run and not a chain!
Struggling to find anything apart from the bright white LED bulbs everywhere that simply need to be replaced with warm versions as this would be transformational!
Food was excellent, service superb.
No lift
Excellent
Nothing
The garden is a wonderful space.
Nothing really!
The staff were outstanding. Every interaction was friendly, professional, and promptly executed. The food, the service, the ambience , the room, the cleanliness, all faultless
Location, on site parking, beautiful building and facilities, staff so happy in their work.
Not much but rather ££ especially for a dog friendly room.
Steeped in history very vibrant and beautifully styled
No lifts
The staff were incredibly attentive and kind.
Fabulous location in the centre of Stamford, beautiful old building with lots of indoor and outdoor options for dining Wonderful staff - professional, friendly and positive Our room was large and surprisingly air conditioned - we hadn’t expected this in such an old building and it was very welcome Lovely dinner in the Oak dining room - good wines at reasonable prices Excellent breakfast Orchids everywhere We could walk to Burghley House
Nothing
Beautiful old building with lots of lovely original features. The bedroom had air con which was fab.
The bedroom was very small and so was the bathroom. No tea and coffee facilities in the bedroom.
Room was good ambience of hotel great
Pre dinner drinks in the courtyard was very slow. Young staff need to be more attentive, there was plenty of them. Crepe suzette lacked something, I did not see the waitress put in any freshly squeezed orange juice.
Historical building , very good location. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Aircon leaked so room was very hot. USB ports or adaptors suggested please
Great service room great breakfast excellent and morning staff lovely .

Fantastic staff and food
Nothing
All was good. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Lovely ambience. Great food. Like stepping back in time.
Telly not up to much
The age, location. Visited on recommendation and it certainly lived up to it. Full of character. Staff very accommodating. Atmosphere made to be welcoming and all requests were met.
Beautiful old hotel great location friendly staff and comfortable rooms.
Beautiful old building lovingly decorated. Relaxing and a calm atmosphere
No door on the toilet to our en suite
Everything, and especially the staff.
Amazing history and atmosphere. The staff were excellent.
Bathroom slightly dated and AC was just okay on the room but not great.
Lovely ambiance with a particularly pleasant outdoor area. The staff were all polite and helpful. The dining room was well organised and atmospheric and the food and wine list were excellent. Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. We were impressed by how well dogs are welcomed. The cost was not trivial, and was at the high end for this type of hotel. But overall, a delightful stay.
Our breakfast table was very close to the kitchen and meant that it was difficult to escape the conversation in the kitchen.
Plenty of staff around at all times and without exception they were incredibly professional, polite and helpful. Exceptional.
There was a bit of a funny smell in the garden room - like dog pee. We didn't see any dogs. Accidents happen!
Overall a great experience, food was excellent , staff also really good and helpful.
The breakfast croissants could definitely be better but were adequate.
Great professional staff Lovely Building Friendly
it was like stepping back in time
nothing
Good location Clean
No tea or coffee facilities No safe
Food at breakfast was excellent.
The arrangements for the evening meal were very poor. We elected to eat on the patio for dinner and were told to sit under an available parasol. Nobody on the staff were told that we were waiting to be served and no waiters came for 25 minutes before we complained. By that time we had lost our faith in the system and went elsewhere. We didnt bother attempting to eat in the restaurant for the rest of the stay. The room cost £300 a night but was fairly small. The wardrobe didn’t accommodate a full length ladies skirt. There were no tea-making facilities in the room and no fridge. A unfortunate member of staff had to carry an iron and board up two flights of narrow steps. Poor value all round.
The staff were incredible. Comfortable room. Beautiful hotel.

Great location, great meal (if a little pricey!) in the garden restaurant - good service, lovely staff and good quality food. Very nice breakfast. Couldn’t fault any of the staff anywhere in the hotel - great service from them all.
Very outdated rooms, our bathroom had a champagne suite circa 1981! Poor water pressure in the shower. Downstairs is like a lovely historic country house hotel, upstairs is more like a pub with rooms. Poorly decorated upstairs. Expensive at £325 a night.
Very special place, how a hotel should be

Location
Tv didnt work shower was terrible room not particularly clean .very overpriced
This is a lovely hotel with style and quality. The staff are amazing - a breathe of fresh air in this day and age. My room was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable. The food was of the highest quality. It is a perfectly situated, being a very short walk from the railway station and a stroll into the town centre.
I have no negative points at all.
Lovely old historic place. Great staff
From Check in to Check out, the stay was exceptional. Every member of Staff was courteous and had time to engage in conversation. From reception, to garden refreshments service, restaurant service staff and the staff who delivered early morning coffee. The room itself was immaculate, and we benefitted from a generous upgrade to the booking made. Much appreciated. Well done and Thank You to everyone.
It was a heatwave...so if the weather had been a tad cooler......but that is beyond the control of the Hotel. Overall, there was nothing to dislike.
Great friendly staff
The hotel is beautiful, full of English Heritage. The breakfast was divine. Absolutely delicious with good quality ingredients. The waitering staff where amazing, super friendly and nothing was a problem. 5 star service.
The only disappointing remark I would say is that you do encourage dogs to stay, but don't allow them into the outside terrace when eating Which unfortunately makes bringing your pet along with you a more experience than it should be. We had to eat both our evening meal and breakfast on a low table which was not ideal, given the overall amount we spent for our 1 night stay. If you allow pets to stay, then please do create a more suitable dining experience that allows pets to join you, as you don't want to have to leave them alone in the room.
Without question, the main course of liver and bacon was the finest I’ve ever tasted. The attentiveness of the waitresses and others was similarly out if the top drawer.
Breakfast - it was good but eg to be given toast before the consumption of either porridge or scrambled eggs etc resulted in the toast been almost “past its sell by date”.
Character, the service, the food and secure parking.
I understand it is an old property (and love it), but I’ve had a more powerful shower in the African bush than the one in our bedroom!
Frühstück, Lage und Ort waren gefällig.
Etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Der Dresscode stimmt nicht mit der Sauberkeit und dem beanspruchten Stil zusammen.
Very well maintained
Its a beautiful, traditional and elegant hotel. The staff are very friendly, attentive and warm. The food is always beautiful and the public spaces are a joy!
Nothing.
Always top service. Lovely location and old building with charming character.
Sadly an upgrade due to wife’s birthday resulted in problems with the bed height. Too high for a little lady to get in and out,and the pillows looked of good quality but they were uncomfortable as was the very firm mattress.
Room was clean and Tidy. Breakfast was very good. We did not have dinner or drinks in the hotel.
Very welcoming helpful staff. Great food. Use
Nothing really
Perfect breakfast - excellent service - hot coffee.
Dining chairs in the oak room too short a squab. Need longer support for adults over 170cm. The cushion was good but edge of the seat put pressure on mid hamstring muscles - unfortunately triggered night cramps.
クラシックな雰囲気を大切に保存しながら、特に水回りの設備は快適だった。
Wifiが遅かった。
Exceptional staff above and beyond food excellent and security good.
Pillows to soft
our stay at the George Hotel in Stamford was excellent. the food in the Oak room was absolutely sublime and deserves a special mention but what really made out visit memorable was the staff. every single member of the team we encountered, and there were many, were exceptional. they were happy, smiling, welcoming and genuienly eager to help. their warmth and professionalism created a wonderful atmosphere throughout our stay. we have stayed at the hotel several times this year, the consistently outstanding service across an entire hotel is very rare these days but the George hotel nailed it! all of the staff should be very proud of what they have acheived. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting stamford. also Huge thanks to the charming man at reception who was happy to change my room, and to the gorgeous italian man who served us outside. we are already looking forward to returning very soon.
Honestly, there was very little to fault If I had to be critical, it would only be to say that we were only able to stay for one night therefore not long enough to enjoy everything that the hotel has to offer.
Lovely room and breakfast.

We had an exceptional time. All the staff we encountered were professional and helpful. We had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to returning.
That we couldn't stay longer.
Traditional
Dinner seating was very cramped in garden room
We loved the traditional approach (jacket and collar in the restaurant)high quality service and food and beverage offer. Excellent location with good parking.
Nothing
Wonderful location with such friendly staff
Well located. Very efficient staff
The staff are so polite and very very helpful . The whole exspirance was exceptional . My favourite place is the George at Stamford
Fascinating old buildings. First class staff - efficient and effective. First class food and wine.
The hotel is oldie worldly but the facilities are modern, clean and comfortable the staff couldn’t do enough. And the fresh flowers and plants are stunning. Potted fresh orchids in the room a great touch
Amazing hotel, great staff. Sarah was especially helpful, even showing me the two twin rooms for me to choose from on my next visit. Thank you Sarah.x
Absolutely nothing.
Lovely building in cracking location. Very friendly staff
Very very expensive room. Not worth the £325 for one night. Breakfast was lovely but the room was basic and tired
I loved the old world charm of the hotel. The food was excellent and the service was excellent too, particularly at dinner in the Oak room and at breakfast as well as reception. Atmosphere was really nice - a nice thriving hotel.
I booked a suite which was expensive but i was happy to pay the money for our wedding anniversary. The bed was quite small, and the room was really hot and we could not get the aircon to work so sleep was very difficult - the shower was very weak.! I have been in hotels all over the world but this was the worst shower i have had. There was a staff member who seemed to be vetting people entering the area to the lounge and bar area. he challenged me to say 'can i help you' as if i was not welcome in that space. I said we were going to our room and he said do i have a key as if he did not believe me.............. not what i expect......He was then very apologetic. Too late.
All food was excellent - both quality and service. The room was very small with no coffee/tea facilities other than a delivery of coffee ordered at Reception on arrival.
The room- we do accept we were in a very old building with a certain ancient vibe
The hotel is full of character and our room was no exception with its exposed beams and joists.
Not much. It is a little pricey and the toilet over-flowed in the morning! We managed to mop up the overflow and so avoid leakage to the floor below. However, the repair man arrived quite quickly and fixed the problem.
Wonderful position in beautiful town. Very friendly staff.
Very small room and uncomfortable bedding.
The whole Hotel ambiance starts at the door and the greeting by the staff when you book in. This is not a modern glass hotel, it has character which opens in nooks and crannies. The Breakfasts are prepared as you order with no buffet. The food is steaming hot and the eggs are that deep yellow / orange and not insipid from a buffet. The meals are first class and varied, all very enjoyable. The staff are very approachable.
The tea served at breakfast was too strong. We did mention to the staff and a new pot of tea arrived.
The history of the building and the Oak room restaurant's exceptional old fashioned service.
Bath and shower could do with updating. Heavy bedspread uncomforatble and felt dirty. Upholstery on room chairs could be cleaner.
Tired bedrooms - decor left in the 1980’s. No safe or fridge or coffee making facilities. We were kept up all night one night as person next door had tv on all night. Staff delightful & downstairs is wonderful, but a bit of a time capsule.
Centre of town and full of history
No tea or coffee making facilities in room
It was as if we're transported to another era, the hotel building, the ambience. The location is convenient opposite the park and the city centre. The room was large and comfortable, we were given an upgrade. The staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Had a great dinner at the restaurant.
The very formal dress code required for the dinner.
The property is full of character. The room superb with beautiful oak panelling & so comfortable.
We loved everything ❤️
