Barceló Fès Medina

This hotel is in a good location on the edge to the new fez and old fez. It is located right next to the Fez mall which has a carrefour for all essentials and a food court for quick meals. There is a McDonald right opposite. There is a family friendly promenade outside where families sit, go for walks in the evenings. There are plenty of coffee shops on the promenade. There are two highly rated places to eat close by. La Ranaicence cafe and delux steak lounge both excellent and defo a worth visiting. The Madina is 10 mins in taxi or 30 mins walk away to the blue gate. Now the hotel itself. I had the privilege suite which has two rooms. 1 a lounge with a sofa/sofa bed, a 4 seater table, tv to relax and wind down. There is a balcony with a great view of the outside and fountain roundabout, sun set, mountains, sun rise. The room has a comfy very large super king bed. Only downside the pillows were terrible. The checkin was pleasant but the extra payment of tax was a surprise as we thought the full payment was taken on the Barcelo website. The house keeping was spot on and the room was cleaned very well. The downside the bathroom. Although nice not really practice when family are staying together as there is no door between this and the main room. The toiler is located in a very awkward place and the sliding door does not shut properly and the toilet is quite high. Also a bit awkward to sit on the toilet if door is closed. The shower area was large but the water does not drain properly. So leaks out of door. There is also a separate bath. There is a pool which has a toddler area on one side and deep pool on other and it’s a decent size. It also has deck chair and quiet private from the outside world.

Fes is a beautiful city. We weren’t sure about which hotel to book. We are glad we chose Barcelo. The front desk staff were professional, kind, and welcoming. Zaid attended to our needs immediately. Further, Ms. Khadija showed the true Moroccan hospitality and attended to our needs regarding switching our room to joined rooms for our kids. In general, we loved the stay, the service, the food, the hotel’s location, and the staff led by Ms. Khadija. Thank you.

the full experience was spotless. From checking with Iman to the room to the food with Tarik and breakfast with Ihlan. all was perfect. Real sense of hospitality.

Wonderful hotel in new town just a short cab ride from the Medina (10…30MAD depending on the cab driver you get). Great staff, lovely rooms and good food.

Zimmer mit Blick auf die Medina bedeutet, Zimmer zur vielbefahrenen Straße mit Kreisverkehr. Laut Beschreibung sollen die  Zimmer schallisoliert sein - der Verkehrslärm war trotz geschlossenem Fenster stark zu hören. Mit Ohropax nachts aber okay. Sollte man eher Ruhe wünschen, ist das der falsche Ort. Stört einen das nicht, hat man hier eine sehr gute Lage, sodass man viele Wege (Bahnhof, Medina, Königspalast - dieser war von unserem Zimmer aus gut zu sehen) fußläufig erreichen kann.  Die Check-in-Zeit ist ab 14 Uhr angegeben. Wir waren um kurz nach 15 Uhr da, aber unser Zimmer war noch nicht fertig. Als Entschädigung gab es einen Drink (thé) am Pool. Erst nach 16:30 Uhr konnten wir unser Zimmer beziehen. Das Zimmer war etwas klein, aber geschmackvoll eingerichtete, mit einem großen Kingsize-Bett. Die Aussicht war sehr schön. Es gab täglich frische Handtücher - vor dem Frühstück waren sie noch da; nach dem Frühstück waren sie weg. Nicht ausgetauscht, sondern weg - etwas ungeschickt, wenn man sich nochmal kurz für den Ausflug fertigmachen möchte. Als wir am Nachmittag/Abend wieder ins Hotel kamen, waren neue Handtücher da und das Bett gemacht. Das Frühstücksbuffet war gut, neben frischem Obst, gab es frisches Omelett oder Rührei, Brot, warmes Essen, süße Gebäckstücke, Saft, Wasser. Ein Angestellter hat uns jeden morgen auf deutsch begrüßt - wirklich sehr lieb und süß. Ansonsten waren die Angestellten sehr freundlich zu uns. Achtung: Neben der Übernachtungssteuer werden noch die Steuern zur Förderung des Tourismus an das Ministerium abgeführt. Wird auf Booking nicht mit berechnet, daher gab es im ersten Moment eine leichte Irritationen beim Einchecken. Die genaue Erklärung musste ich mir allerdings selber ergooglen.

Very well located near the borj fes mall. And all the shops are near by the hotel. Medina is just 7 mins drive away and nice pool in the hotel. The hotel also has sports bar at the ground level. Did not try the breakfast.

Everything seemed okay. The lighting of the hotel is too dull for me. Thats my personal choice. The tv had lock codes and all the apps they have to remove them as we had to call them again and again to fix it.

Easy check in, great customer service. Katarina was very helpful and very accommodating. She speak fluent English and Spanish that was a most to make our time in Fes amazing. Great dinner buffet.

Good location in the newer part of Fez, around 10 mins by taxi from the Medina. Some nice local restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. Had a junior suite which accommodated the 4 of us well. Room was clean and looked fairly recently renovated. Comfortable. Hotel was relaxing, pool area was nice (water a little cold), basic gym. Very nice breakfast. Staff very pleasant. Booked a city tour with Medina Mystique Travel via Viator which was really good - 5 hours and covered all the main sites. Also booked an airport transfer which worked well. Best currency exchange was Fes Change - about 10 min walk from hotel. 12 MAD to GBP, although the exchange in the airport wasn’t that bad at 11.8 MAD. Walked 10 mins to the train station for our train to Rabat which we booked through the ONCF app without issue.

The process of checkin , did use your system and they said the card is not working which was not true and after I got upset and called few times, find out they were not honest by saying they can not charge the card

De locatie, hygiëne, behulpzaamheid personeel. Een grote mall (op loopafstand) waar je gevarieerd kan eten. Taxi’s op loopafstand. Als ik weer in fez ben zou ik zeker nog een keer logeren in dit hotel .

Ik had van te voren een mail gestuurd met een paar vragen en dat werd niet beantwoord. Verder niks

Situation de la chambre trop bruyante, vétusté de la salle de bain. Machine à café non fonctionnelle et sans dosettes, à cela on rajoute le manque de produit de toilette. Toujours à réclamer ses équipements. Beaucoup de choses à revoir pour un 4 étoiles.

Located in a commercial/busy area. The rooms were of good size, the AC worked fine, and the beds were comfortable. Wifi connectivity was good. Kettle with coffee/tea provided along with a minibar. No ironing board, though. The bathroom, while clean, looked old. Towels were frayed, commode had stains. No amenities like soap bar and toiletries. Breakfast was kinda limited. Suprised to see no toasting machine - had to have bread cold! Restaurant was spacious.

Les chambres n étaient pas très propres,le sol ,sous les lits,des saletés. Nous avons sejourné la première nuit au 5eme étage et nous avons été déranges par les bruits des climatiseurs . Nous avons demandé de changer de chambre,ce qui a été fait après quelques discussions. Seconde nuit au calme .

Y ahora lo peor : Todo..todo En la recepcion de una cadena española y el castellano pocos lo hablan. La atencion de la recepcionista sonrisa pero solo para la foto, ninguna solucion. La habitacion superior es con vistas a la medina, que yo diria mas bien a la rotonda de la avenida con pitidos de coches. Algun dia entenderan en los hoteles que es mejor una habitacion silenciosa y tranquila para dormir que estar toda la noche disfrutando de la circulacion, las sirenas de la policia y ambulancias con la medina al fondo a oscuras

Parfait emplacement pour découvrir les trois quartiers intéressants de Fès : nouvelle ville, quartier juif et médina. Chambre confortable et spacieuse. Très bon petit déjeuner alliant spécialités locales et continentales.

Tout était parfait, le personnel était adorable, ayant pris un court séjour pour mes noces, je me suis rendu compte que mon choix d'hôtel était plus que pertinent et la déco que j'avais demandée était vraiment magnifique.

Ne pas être resté une nuit de plus ou deux 😁
