Outstanding service. Absolutely fantastic spa. Wonderful healthy food. Great place. The nature, especially the springs, are unique.

Pilates 10/10
I had a disappointing experience with Jonathan during my visit to Como Shambhala. He came across as quite contrarian and seemed to enjoy arguing with me. I felt disrespected by his approach. I came to Como Shambhala specifically to improve my well-being, not to debate with an acupuncturist. Unfortunately, my health felt worse rather than better after the appointment.
We booked to stay 8nights at Como and we loved it so much we extended our stay another 6nights. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The estate itself is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, immaculately maintained, and surrounded by stunning rainforest. It was the perfect place to relax, reset, and disconnect from the outside world. There was no sounds of traffic or dogs parking which I loved and made my stay feel very exclusive. The wellness facilities and treatments were exceptional. The food was another highlight—every meal was fresh, nutritious, and delicious. we ate at the glow restaurant every night. What truly made the experience special was the outstanding service. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. Their genuine care and hospitality made me feel completely looked after. Thank you to everyone at COMO Shambhala Estate for such an unforgettable experience. I can't wait to return in the future.
This was my second time at COMO Shambhala Estate - I first came three years ago, and honestly I never stopped thinking I wanted to come back! I've stayed at a lot of nice and luxury hotels over the years but this one is still my favourite, hands down. The setting alone it's increadible: jungle all around, a waterfall on the property, nothing but nature sounds. It's just built for slowing down. The villa where we stayed it was gorgeous. They've renovated recently and somehow made it even better without losing what made it special in the first place. But honestly, it's the people who make this place. Nizel gave us the warmest welcome, and Ayu, our butler, took care of us the whole stay and even helped set up a surprise for my partner. As well, a huge thanks also to the F&B and front desk teams - genuinely kind, attentive, smiling every day, no exceptions. Leaving actually made me emotional, which doesn't happen often. Not many hotels leave that kind of impression through the people alone!!! If you want more than just a luxury hotel, somewhere you can actually switch off and feel at home, I can't recommend COMO Shambhala enough. We're already looking forward to going back!!
“Wow”. Thats all we kept saying for the whole time we were there! It’s located in the middle of the jungle next to the Ayung River and you can walk down to the river within the estate. It’s amazing. Genuinely incredible. It was fully booked but felt empty (in a good way), you only really see people at breakfast, and even then it’s probably only 30 ish people. It’s quiet, relaxing, luxurious. The place is incredible, just needs to be seen to be believed. Once again, the Como staff make this place what it is. The estate itself is magical, it’s like being in a Jurassic Park movie (minus the dangerous animals). The rooms (residences) are huge but still understated luxury, you feel the design and intention but it’s not flashy and shiny and gaudy resort style, it’s perfect. We saw monkeys at breakfast - they were so close. Very cool. There are a lot of steps, so just be aware of this. That’s the beauty of this place, it’s built around the landscape. If you even get the chance to stay one night then do it. You won’t be disappointed.
It's hard to put into words exactly how this place makes you feel. The first thing that struck me was the view. Lush, expansive rainforest stretching as far as the eye can see. There is a sense of calm here that is difficult to describe and even harder to leave behind. The service is warm, personal and genuinely caring. Each guest is assigned a personal assistant who is available via WhatsApp throughout their stay. I didn't realise this was a service I needed until I experienced it, but it made everything so smooth and effortless. The residences are beautiful, offering modern luxury while still retaining plenty of Balinese charm. Thoughtful touches are everywhere, from the complimentary private bar stocked with fresh juices and homemade biscuits, replenished daily, to the smart Japanese toilet in our room. It was the small details like these that elevated the entire experience. As the estate is built into the hillside, there are a number of steps and walking paths throughout the property. However, buggies are readily available and the team are always happy to transport guests wherever they need to go. A schedule of daily activities is included, with additional wellness experiences available for those wanting to immerse themselves further. Wellness isn't just a buzzword here. It is woven naturally into every aspect of the estate. My massage experience was exceptional and easily ranks among the best I've ever had. Breakfast was a standout. The à la carte menu is focused on health and wellbeing, with creative flavour combinations and quality ingredients that feel both nourishing and indulgent. One of my favourite experiences was walking down through the forest to Kedara Spring. Sitting beside the natural springs, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle, before taking a dip in one of the three spring fed pools, was incredibly special. More than a luxury resort, this is a place to slow down and reconnect. It leaves a lasting impression and evokes an emotional response that stays with you long after you leave. For those who value exceptional service, wellness, privacy and a genuine connection with nature, the experience speaks for itself. The attention to detail, thoughtful inclusions and the way the estate makes you feel create a level of value that extends far beyond the accommodation alone.
This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Food was incredible, service was discrete and exceptional and the activity list was really good. Special shout to to my personal assistant, Rudana, who organised everything seamlessly. I cannot wait to return!
We stayed in the Como Shambhala Suite in the Bayugita Residence. It was outstanding. We visited other residences and accommodations during our 3 night stay and honestly, they are all beautiful and you couldn’t be disappointed with any choice. On booking, if you have any specific preference the staff will be able to select the perfect suite for you. The scheduled activities are amazing. Pilates, yoga, meditation etc… The Estate walk will showcase this amazing property. The jungle setting, natural spring water pools and massage Bale’s. The Spa with its Saunas, Infrared treatments, Steam room and Hydrotherapy pool is first class! Don’t miss the Hydrotherapy session - a highlight. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Special thanks is to the beautiful Tirta our designated Personal Assistant who took care of our every need. And big thank you to Utami for her exceptional spa treatments. Until next time ❤️
Amazing people and place
Awesome accommodation and atmosphere. Superb services
I know I can always count on Como Shambala for a wonderful time to reset and recharge. Supreme thanks to Dudek, Indah, and everyone who made my stay incredibly special. The new upgrades and improvements truly offer a holistic wellness experience and I can't wait to return again. There are many hotels in Ubud, but Shamabla is home.
Just completed our second stay at Como Shambhala Estate, and it was as good as ever. We simply loved how tranquil it was at the hotel - the grounds were massive and they were just over 30 rooms and villas to occupy it. We loved the food here, especially at Kudus house, the massage, the grounds, the residences and the service from all staff members. We stayed at the Bayugita residence, which was fantastic, and I think all residences will be renovated by 2027. Special thanks to our butler Karti, who was outstanding, and to Dewa, the activities manager, for making our stay memorable. We look forward to returning next year.
As a travel curator who has lived in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney and travelled the world extensively, it takes quite a lot to genuinely stop me in my tracks. COMO Shambhala Estate managed it. This is quiet luxury at its finest - the clientele is understated, the setting is 23 acres of Balinese jungle above the sacred Ayung River, and the service operates on a level I have rarely experienced. They are not just anticipating your needs, they are pre-empting them before you’ve even had the thought yourself. I walked down to Kedara - the three holy water spring pools you can swim in, expecting to be alone, lost in the jungle, when a staff member appeared seemingly from nowhere with a cool face cloth and chilled water with lime. I hadn’t asked. That is the standard here. A special mention for our butler Shafa, who was genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve encountered in hospitality. She arrived at our villa by buggy with cocktails within minutes of a WhatsApp message, and on one occasion escorted me to breakfast and made sure I was seated, she pre-empted I needed more time at Kedara so moved my spa appointment accordingly. All small things that make the difference. Wellness programmes spanning Ayurvedic healing to nervous system rebalancing. I tried the Shirodhara head oil treatment for the first time and didn’t want it to end. It finished with a body scrub and outdoor shower. With just 31 residences there was barely another soul in sight — which probably explains the A-list following. One tip - get down to the Kedara spring pools early in the day. If it rains the path closes and you cannot go down. Trust me, you do not want to miss them. I was already thinking about coming back before I’d even left. Alison Chow (Coco Ribbon Curates)
We had such an amazing experience here. The grounds, the food, the staff and all of the amenities are just flawless. Everyone was so kind but special thanks to Shafa and Yasmini for exceptional services. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
I booked a stay at COMO Shambhala for my parents’ anniversary, and it exceeded every expectation. The staff went above and beyond to make their visit special. Their room was stunning with an incredible view, and the property itself is immaculate—lush, tranquil, and truly transporting. The food was both hearty and delicious, and every staff member they encountered was warm and attentive. The airport transportation arranged by the hotel was also reliable and on time, which made everything seamless. My parents said it was their favorite stays ever. I really wanted this to be a special trip for them, and I’m so appreciative of everything the staff did to make it truly unforgettable.
Having had the opportunity to experience the serene atmosphere of Ubud at COMO Shambhala Estate, it was truly a memorable stay, with exceptional service from the moment of arrival until departure. The entire team was attentive and welcoming, ensuring that all our needs were met even before we asked. The room was beautiful, featuring a spacious terrace with an open-air daybed, perfect for relaxation. A special highlight was the pool, offering a stunning view of lush greenery that created a calming and refreshing ambiance after a busy period. A heartfelt thank you to Ms Karti, our butler during the stay, whose dedication and passion were truly remarkable. Everything was thoughtfully prepared in advance, making our experience seamless and comfortable. I would also like to extend our appreciation to Mr Purna for his assistance during check in for driving us to the room showing us around and sharing his recommendations for Ubud, as well as to the housekeeping and breakfast teams for their excellent support. It is hard to describe anything less than outstanding, an exceptional service experience and a truly memorable stay. We would absolutely return in the future. Thank you!!
COMO Shambhala is truly something special. Tucked into the jungle of Ubud and backing onto the Ayung River, the setting alone is magical—especially the 400 steps leading down to serene natural pools beside the rushing river. From the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless. Dayu and Sapha arranged everything beautifully, from a sunrise temple visit to exploring rice fields, a coffee farm, and Ubud itself. Our Dirga was kind, safe, and a joy to spend time with. Our guide, Yudian, made the trip unforgettable. A local from a nearby village, she brought such warmth and depth to every experience—from guiding us through Bali to leading a deeply moving water blessing ceremony with traditional music. We even brought her rafting with us on the Ayung, which says everything. What truly sets Shambhala apart is its people—every single person we encountered was warm, genuine, and attentive. Without a doubt, the best hotel staff I’ve ever experienced. Pure magic from start to finish.
I am writing this review as I leave the Como Shambhala Estate (CSE) and I am already anticipating my return. This is my 5th time at CSE and it is quite simply one of the most beautiful and friendly places I have ever been. What CSE is to me: Quiet luxury. Restorative. Unplugged. Serene. Chill. Nature. Wellness. AUTHENTIC. If you want a place to escape the world and recharge, look no further. If you want a ‘scene’ or a disco or great bar or kids club, consider another place. SUITES: CSE has a variety of suites - which are mostly stand alone, with some exceptions. Some suites have their own pool while others are situated in one of the 5 ‘residences’ which each have a 4-5 villas centered around a large pool and a common living and dining room space. Given this setup, you will always find a lounger and a personal place to chill. There is no ‘best’ residence or suite, just style and preferences… In our case, we stayed at the two bedroom ‘Como Suite’ in the Umabona residence. From an architectural perspective, the suite is spectacular. The design incorporates open air common spaces that wrap around a central open core with a private pool that is accessed through steps down. The pool goes under the structure and opens up to another infinity edged pool that overlooks the jungle. Upstairs, the Como Suite features a living room, dining room, TV room and two bedrooms, each with a study and small bathroom for late night visits. Downstairs, each bedroom has a bathroom which is probably double the size of most NY apartments. From the bathroom, you have a secret door that gives you access to the pool. Suffice it to say, this a a luxurious place to stay. The Como Suite is the furthest suite from the spa and restaurant, but we enjoyed the walk. The Como Suite is extremely private and let us spend the morning quietly listening to the river below. DINING: There are two restaurants at CSE - Glow and Kudus. Glow is more ‘international’ while Kudus focuses on Indonesian cuisine. Breakfast is delicious and served à la carte at Kudus - there is no buffet here. You can certainly get traditional favorites such as scrambled eggs or omelettes, but they have many healthy and local alternatives to try as well. For example, the zucchini waffles with smoked salmon were wonderful. Rest assured that CSE also has great Indonesian coffee options. Overlooking the jungle below, Kudus is a great place for a lazy breakfast. We enjoyed dinner at both Glow and Kudus. Food was excellent and flavorful with a ‘healthy’ twist. Don’t look for spaghetti or French fries or cheeseburgers on the menu (although, I bet they would make them for you). Instead, think steamed fish and vegetables in a delicate ginger and soy sauce or vegetable lasagna or poke bowls. Don’t miss the tuna tartare or the chicken sate. We went out one night for dinner and we all said that we preferred the food at CSE. SPA: The Ojas Spa is world class. Beautiful facilities with very talented therapists. In my case, I had a deep tissue massage, a Taksu massage and a Thai massage. Utami was my primary therapist and truly delivered what I consider to be the best massage of my life. I told her that I was having issues with my sciatica and she immediately responded by saying that she would have a feel but, would likely focus on my gluts and IT bands. She received a great deal of pain and stress and made recommendations for some stretches as well. She followed up with subsequent treatments and again, I thoroughly enjoyed them. The treatment rooms at Ojas all overlook small gardens with fountains. Some have private bathrooms and outdoor showers - take advantage! One of the things I also enjoyed was the ginger tea served after a treatment - don’t miss it! GROUNDS: The grounds are beautiful. The residences, restaurants and spa are set up high on a hilltop with jungle and river below. Don’t miss the opportunity to walk around the grounds and see the amazing scenery and the mineral springs. Hiking does require one to be nimble and somewhat fit going up and down the steep hillside, but it is so rewarding. Just look at the pics :-) PEOPLE: Last, but certainly not least are the people at CSE, who are all wonderful and friendly. In our case, our personal assistant was Mr. Wan, a young man with a bright smile. Wan made sure all of our details were looked after, including spa appointments, dining reservations, and transportation. In addition, we had the pleasure of meeting Rahayu at breakfast, Wardika at Yoga, Yudian at Hydrotherapy, and many more. THANK YOU!!!
We stayed 4 nights at the 3-bedoom villa in Sep. Before arrival, we saw some pictures online and was a bit concerned with the aesthetics but were gladly proven wrong - the lobby was beautiful and serene and sort of Aman-lite. Service was warm and attentive from the get go, and our butler, Purna, was better than all of our previous butler at the bali Amans. He made sure we had enough activities to do each day and that all our meals were taken care of. The hotel grounds were expansive, once you did the estate walk you really do understand why this place commands a relatively high price for the low room count and for all the space you get. The spring pool with the viewing deck was beyond amazing. The boutique, yoga pavilion, new spa and restaurants were also fantastic. Our yoga teacher for the in-villa session was equally outstanding. Food was healthy yet delicious. We will be sure to return to this place, most likely over Amandari for our next visit to Ubud. Useful tips: The villa itself is just outside the main hotel complex with a 2-minute buggy ride away, so please keep that in mind if you want to book this room type. Some of the residences are renovated while the others are waiting in turn to be refurbished, so do enquire when you book.
The best hotel I've been to in Bali. So quiet and peaceful with such an incredible view. The service is 10/10 and the food is amazing as expected. Can't wait to go back.
Great retreat, beautiful and peaceful place which is well complemented with hospitality of every staff. Special thanks to our Personal Assistant, Ramses who made our stay a special memory.
We spent five unforgettable days at this wonderful hotel, and from the moment we arrived, everything felt extraordinary. We came quite exhausted from a previous trip and left feeling completely renewed. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and the entire team made our stay truly special. A big thank you to Nyoman, our driver, who picked us up at the airport and later drove us around Ubud. We even requested him again because he was so friendly, warm, and he made every long car ride feel effortless. We also loved our walk with Gede from the activity team, who took us through the nearby village and rice fields. It was an authentic, intimate experience with no other tourists around, and he shared so many interesting insights in a calm, easygoing way. When we arrived, Nizel welcomed us so kindly that we instantly felt at home. Throughout our entire stay, our two butlers, Shafa & Mudana, supported us with everything - from organizing activities to helping us plan our days in and out of the hotel. Their care, kindness, and attention to detail made our stay truly memorable!!! We also enjoyed every part of the hotel’s facilities. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide selection ranging from local Asian dishes to more western options. We absolutely loved the spa - we all had the COMO Shambhala Signature Massage and agreed it was the best massage of our lives. The spa has been recently renovated and looks fantastic. My husband also used the gym several times and found it very comfortable, modern, and well-equipped after its renovation. One of the most magical surprises was the property’s private waterfall, only a short 10-minute walk away. Having sunbeds and a peaceful space to relax right by the waterfall felt like something out of a dream, we had never experienced anything like that in any hotel before. Overall, this place is a true hidden gem ✨✨✨ The staff are genuinely kind and caring, and we were honestly emotional when it was time to leave. We cannot recommend this hotel enough and would return in a heartbeat ❤️
Possibly the very best resort we have ever experienced. We arrived from the chaos of Ubud traffic to Como Shambhala, around a 15 minute drive. We were greeted with cold towels, tea and beautiful flower garlands. Our personal assistant Shafa was an absolute angel who catered to our every need. We were taken to our villa, which blew us away. The children had a separate entrance and balcony to us downstairs, giving us all space to relax. We had a huge deck with infinity pool and jacuzzi, a swing bed and plenty of space to relax as a family. The room was stunning, with a huge dressing area and sauna/ shower. The in room dining perfect after long days exploring the area. The breakfast was perfect - the menus cater for wellness and healthy choices and loved all the smoothies and juices available. The kids loved the buckwheat pancakes. We were so sad to leave and will definitely return for longer to this little haven that left us all refreshed and relaxed. There were so many things we didn’t have time to experience here that we wanted to try. Thank you so much Shafa, for everything.
Everyone and everything was perfect . Pure relaxation in paradise !Don't leave the resort.
From the moment I arrived, I felt deeply cared for and welcomed. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout my stay. My personal assistant, Setiawan, was truly an angel, and both Yudian (my tour guide) and Dirga (my driver) were so generous, informative, and kind. Every detail in the car for our half-day trip was thoughtful and made the experience comfortable and professional. From the front desk to the restaurants, spa, and beyond, every single staff member went above and beyond. The food was absolute perfection. I also had a private cooking class, which was not only fun but gave me recipes I can’t wait to recreate at home for friends. The property itself is massive, and I loved how private and exclusive it felt — I rarely crossed paths with other guests, which made it even more special. The team also arranged a seamless trip to watch the Kecak dance, complete with an easy Grab ride back. The gym was a hidden gem: clean, well-equipped with a rack, weights, erg, and had the same boutique feel as the rest of the estate. But the highlight of my stay was the blessing ceremony. Guided step by step by Yudian and the priest, it was the most life-changing and spiritual experience of my entire trip.
Best wellness resort I stayed at. Very close to nature and remote location. Enjoyed the breakfast and modern amenities. couple massage is highly recommended. They have good therapists
.
First time I tried a Como hotel and it becomes already one of my favorites hotel in the world, among some others such as Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru or One and Only Reethi Rah. Very nice estate settled in the midst of a several acres lush garden, perched on the slope of a hill overlooking the Ayung river, the hotel gives off a peaceful and relaxed impression immediately upon arrival and this feeling persisted during all my stay. My Shambhala villa, located in residence Ening (“Pure water”) is wonderful, with a large communal pool in the front and a picturesque Japanese like soak pool area at the back, equipped with an outdoor jacuzzi (so pleasant a hot jacuzzi under fresh Balinese rain). Only a small reproach: the villa, made of dark wood, is too dark and the dark wood gives it an oldish mood. There are many activities proposed by the hotel to enjoy, from Yoga lessons, Estate hike to tailored made private guided excursion (you define your own itinerary), water blessing ceremony… I have applied to a few of them and our party is all time happy with the services. The Spa, which Como Shambhala prides itself for, is also very good. It has treatment villas spread throughout the estate, which is quite a good idea. Final thanks are for the staff and in particular Purna, our butler. All of them are so nice, always smiling and always ready to satisfy all of our wishes. If you ever visit the Ubud area I do recommend the Como Shambhala Estate. But be aware, Ubud downtown is horrible, traffic jam everywhere and all day long, I wanted to visit some art galleries there and each time lost 2 hours getting in and out of the place.
Локация, отношение персонала, различные виды йоги и супер питание
I’ll be honest. I’ve always been really skeptical woo woo “wellness” programs being surrounded by them in California. But Como Shambhala has converted me into a believer. Coming fresh off a stress-related mental breakdown, my boss recommended I visit the Como Shambhala Estate on our first vacation to Bali. She said it’s the “real deal” which got me rolling my eyes a little on the inside. She was right. After 25 hours of travel, we arrived at DPS. After exiting customs we walked up to the sea of drivers, taxi touts, and hotel logos laminated onto the back of clipboards. COMO. That was us. The airport transfer was cool and comfortable with fresh cold towels, ice cold waters, and snacks awaiting us before the 90-ish minute drive to the hotel. CHECK-IN Once we arrived, we were met with a welcome drink of a healthy green juice and a garland of jasmine flowers. (Ahhhhh…) The grounds are stunning though the main pool and wellness center were still receiving finishing touches to their renovations. Here we met with Setiawan (a.k.a. Wan) who would be our personal assistant for our 4 night / 5 day stay. Wan buggied us down a long narrow stonewalled path until we reached a set of stairs waiting at the end. Here was Villa 6, the one-bedroom pool villa that would be our home away from home. THE VILLA Calling it a ‘one-bedroom villa” is a total misnomer (There are 3 total bedrooms.) The top level houses the master bedroom with a wonderful king-sized bed overlooking a private patio. Further in, there’s the absolutely gorgeous master bathroom with a huge marble bathtub overlooking a picturesque garden you can open the windows to and an outdoor shower. Como’s bath products also smell divine. You’d mistake them for Aesop. Down the stairs is Level 2 where a private infinity pool and jacuzzi sidelines a comfy living space with some big comfy couches, a small kitchenette with a kombucha stocked fridge, and a full bathroom. Outside, there are some lounge chairs and a big shady umbrella for you to dry off after dips in the refreshingly cool waters of the pool. And further still, there’s Level 3 where there happens to be ANOTHER 2 bedrooms and bathroom. Quite honestly, we spent zero time here and the extra rooms felt sparse and maybe more appropriate if you brought your kids. THE FOOD That evening, we had dinner at Kudus House, the on-site Indonesian restaurant where you dine inside a 150 year old Javanese pavilion overlooking the Ayung River Valley. The food was all divine with the standouts being the various sambal options you get with your starters and the beef “Rendang Sapi” that is so perfectly tender and well seasoned. Food is such a core part of the wellness theme here. Everything we ate tasted so nutritious yet delicious. Even at breakfast the next day, you’ll find favorites like the “Real Toast” which puts an even more healthy spin on avocado toast replacing the bread with a densely packed seed loaf. The Whole Meal Pancakes were absolutely delicious without feeling sickly sweet or buttery in the way traditional pancakes are done. The other restaurant, Glow also had some delicious riffs on classics. Try the “Lamb Kofta” starter if you’re a lamb fan and the “Lasagna” made of zucchini. Divine. Look. I’ll be real here. The whole menu almost feels like it’s designed to clean out your insides. I don’t think I’ve had better digestion on vacation literally ever. THE PROGRAMMING This is where Como Shambhala Estate and the wellness team really shine. Even if you don’t take any of this wellness stuff seriously, the staff here very much does and is 100% committed to making you feel better as a human being in every sense of the word. They are professionals at it and likely better than you are at your job. We partook in as many of the complimentary activities every guest can participate in. But it was nice to see people on “Wellness Paths” doing private sessions. First up, we took the 8am Deep Flow Yoga class with Mins Teo, the resident yoga and pilates instructor. The class took place at the Yoga Bale in the middle of the resort overlooking the vast green of the Ayung River Valley. For an absolute novice, I found this class the perfect bit of challenging though seasoned practitioners may want to go for a private session. The Meridian Stretch Qi Gong class led by the Wellness Director, Kimberly Rose Kneier the next morning was a perfect entry into TCM or Traditional Chinese Medicine and some of the basic concepts. Found this incredibly educational and quite fun. I mean who doesn’t love clenching their hands like a Tiger and releasing Qi balls into the universe. Yoga Nidra Meditation with Prasanth V. If you have trouble sleeping, you must take this class. My wife and I regularly meditate and Prasanth imparted us with new breathing techniques and ways to body scan that we will absolutely be taking home with us. Also the proof, the couple next to us literally fell asleep. Estate Walk. The name might imply a casual stroll through Como Shambhala’s grounds but heed this warning. This is a moderate hike down and up a slippery stone lined trail led by Yu Dian on the activities. But for those with the health and fitness, this was a magical walk through the jungle. It’s only an hour but along the way we passed waterfalls, old facilities, and the famed Kadara Spring Pools down the valley below the resort. Here we took a short break with cold towels and glasses of cold water (with lime!) The walk back up is steep but short. Well worth the trek if you’re up and active in the morning. And perfect for stirring the appetite up for breakfast. THE MASSAGES I happened to book the “Discover Como” package with our booking which meant 60-minute massages for each of us. Every. Single. Day. Oops. Well, next time I will absolutely be doing the same. How nice is it to just start each day you were going to get a massage? Live a little. The massage staff is out of this world good at their jobs. We got to try a range of styles from the Como Shambhala Signature Massage, Deep Tissue, Taksu, and Indonesian and I would be inclined to do them in that order again. Each massage built on the last so that by Day 4, you could nary find a knot in my shoulders. After the first massage, my wife quipped that she could see the stress melting off my body. By Day 2, I was looking into the Hyperbaric Chamber and Contrast Therapy sessions. This stuff is backed by science to make you feel better. CONCLUSION This place is luxury. In that quiet luxury way you expect of other brands, especially that one that starts with an A. But everything from the facilities, to the programming, and especially the staff all feels warm, genuine, and truly focused on their wellness mission. These people take what they do seriously to provide an environment where you can heal, relax, and recover. It takes a light bit of work (seriously, take the classes). If you’re coming for the gram or because you want to splurge, then great. There’s a lot of great properties in Bali that will fulfill that need and Como Shambhala Estate is absolutely one of them. But don’t miss out on the wellness programming here. It’s truly the real deal. We spent our entire stay at the estate and feel no guilt. Because quite frankly, COMO Shambhala is all I want to remember about our trip.
The team took such good care of us since arrival. We could not flaw the stay and experience in any ways. The villa was very warm and cozy. We had breakfasts and dinner during our stay and the food was amazing!! Everything was fresh and well flavoured without overpowering. We tried the coconut banana crepe with a coconut sorbet and it was chefs kisss!! The views throughout the estate was lit!! We have to mention the team: Yogi upon in, Karti our personal butler, who just know what we need everytime! Dewa our pilates instructor, Yu Dian our ceremony instructor, Rahayu and Ani who served us during our meals at Kudus. Sumara, the estate guide. Everyone paid such attentive details. Will definitely come back again in the future thank you
Location - stuff - insane
The variation of different dishes , after 2 days you had to go out to eat . The food was great !
Rooms are clean and amenities are amazing, everything we need COMO already prepare in the room, service are excellent, location so beautiful, we are enjoy at spring pools amazing, staff really good, break fast delicious, sure will come and stay again at COMO Shambhala Ubud in our next holiday
I stayed at COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali and absolutely loved the experience. I arrived in the evening, and even the drive to the hotel was beautiful — both sides of the road were filled with stunning Balinese scenery and cultural charm. It really gave me a sense of how special this place is. As soon as I arrived, the staff welcomed me warmly with a flower garland and a refreshing welcome drink. I think it was made from cucumber and lemongrass — light, natural, and very relaxing. It immediately made me feel calm and connected to the peaceful surroundings. The check-in process was smooth and easy, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. After that, I was taken to my room by golf cart. The room was stunning — spacious and stylish, with a separate living area and a private pool. The room was also filled with modern technology, including the bathroom, which was really impressive. I also loved the welcome fruit — all local, fresh, and delicious. On my last night, they even gave a special turndown gift, which was such a thoughtful touch and made my stay even more memorable. I didn’t get the chance to enjoy the resort’s wellness facilities this time because I had already booked tours outside, but I definitely plan to return and make time to relax more at the property itself.
The location of property is excellent. However the restaurants have very little variety of food. There Spa is under renovation till June end. No Gym. The hospitality is warm and friendly. I feel one more restaurant or coffee shop at spring waters should be added.
We went there for our honeymoon and had a great time. It feels like the hotel is all for yourselves, the villas have amazing views, the staff are always attentive and great at what they do and it’s an overall wonderful experience oriented towards wellness (from the food, to the massage and amenities).
Truly a transformative experience The property is magical! The service is top notch! ayis was the best massage and healing by dawah were unlike anything I have experienced! Nyepi and and local villages and parades not like anything we experienced
Absolutely the best experience!!!
Glorious grounds and space away from the bustle of Ubud town. A sense of peace and serenity has been created. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the walks around the estate are just gorgeous.
The rooms centre around one pool and living area so you are sharing with other guests in a shared accommodation unit.
This was my second stay here, and once again, everything was perfect from start to finish. From the warm welcome to the stunning room, breathtaking views, and exceptional breakfast—everything was 100/100. I can’t wait to return and will always recommend this incredible resort. Truly an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the amazing team for the outstanding service!
Shout out to MUDRA, DIMAS and AYU(the skinny one at the restaurant) - they are the soul of Como Shambhala. The hotel itself is beautiful with 3 beautiful natural spring pool down the hill (need some hiking to get there). To be very honest, the specific Shambhala Suite we stayed needs some maintenance/renovation - there was bad smell coming out of the toilet constantly. But I’m still giving it 5-star solely because of the lovely people we met. Mudra really provided us with very personalized experience and helped us understand the locals’ life, the culture and history of the hotel. THANK YOU MUDRA! Ayu was so sweet and made me feel coming home for dinner (and breakfast) - she always remembered what food I’m sensitive to and was able to create special noodle soup that fitted my need! Dimas was our personal assistant and was very attentive to our needs. He always greeted us with his smile and open heart. Sinthia and Surna (sorry if I spell your name wrong) at front desk were also super sweet and helpful. Thank you all for making it a great experience for us:)
This was a lovely time from start until the end. The service was beyond brilliant. As a guest you could just let everything go because your butler and al the others had totally control over the next step without "to much" .... just perfect balance including a lit of joy and love. The food was healthy and fantastic and really top of the line. We just love the hold area with beautiful nature around. You can not ask for more then this... absolut one of the best hotel ... or maby the best you can find. The rooms are very big and beautiful but need little but of love and attention but not a big thing. Over al lovely. We went on a great biketrip, dont miss that one and also booked the lovely ceremoni and a wonderful massage...just perfect!!! As you can here.... you cant miss wonderful hotel and take the chance to meet this lovely staff.. Many thanks to all but staff but xtra thanks and live to our guide Gede and butler Setiawan.❤️🙏 Love and light/ Johan and Malin Lemchen
Superb services and facilities.. we'll be back
Staying at Como Shambhala Estate was one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had. The entire estate, including the accommodation, the restaurants, the jungle surrounds, the wellness facilities, and the service is high quality and all designed with one objective: to make you feel relaxed. During our 4 night (5 day) stay we didn’t leave the estate; we didn’t need to. There’s a daily schedule of four activities from morning to afternoon that you can join in, or just do your own thing. We joined in the yoga, Pilates, meditation, and hydrotherapy classes. And in our own time we swam in the natural pools and our private residence pool, used the gym, read books in the ‘tea house’, walked the ‘estate walk’ through the jungle, had afternoon naps, and got massages and other spa treatments. Thanks to our personal assistant Dimas, he was so attentive and helpful and made our stay extra special.
Thank you to the lovely Budi, Kim, Yu Dian, Dimas and all the amazing staff that made our stay at Como Shambhala Estate an absolute dream. After our 3 day wellness path we left feeling revitalised and like a part of the Como family. Our only regret is not having stayed longer.
This resort was the perfect escape, offering beautiful views of lush greenery and a natural, tranquil atmosphere. Activities provided just the right balance for relaxation without needing to leave. A special thanks to our butler, Dimas, whose proactive service made our stay exceptional, anticipating our needs before we even asked. An ideal retreat to disconnect and reconnect with nature—highly recommended!
Travel is our passion, and the one thing that can make or break a trip is the service. The staff here are beyond exceptional! In all my global travels have i found this level of kind, caring, passionate, and this precise level of sophisticated service. They are simply magnificent. And the property is a dream. Our villa is spectacular. Thank you to Purna, Dayu and my love, Nizel!
My husband and I stayed at Como Shambhala Estate in Bali in September 2024, and it was one of the most transformative hotel experiences we've ever had. Como Shambhala Estate is the perfect mix of luxury, serenity, and cultural experiences. What We Loved: Serene Surroundings: The estate is tucked away amidst tropical jungle, it's so peaceful and secluded. The views and sounds of nature made it feel like we were in our own little paradise, a world away from New York City. Stunning Room: We stayed in our own pagoda, with a fully outdoor bathroom which was a unique experience. This was the epitome of having our own private retreat in the middle of the rainforest. Water Blessing: We took part in a traditional Hindu water blessing on the property, and it was a really special experience -- something we’ll definitely never forget. Amazing Staff: The entire Como Shambhala Team was were incredible, especially our guest assistant Tini. She made us feel like we were staying at a friend’s home; her warmth and hospitality were truly remarkable. Cultural Excursions: We had a great day exploring the neighboring Ubud rice terraces and Balinese temples. Our guide, Gede, was fantastic! He helped us understand so much about Balinese culture and history. The Como Shambhala Spa: Honestly, it's out of this world. We had a wellness consultation with Kim, who was incredibly helpful, and we tried acupuncture for the first time. Now, I’m hooked and still doing it back home in New York! Last but not least, the Food: phenomenal! Healthy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We seriously can’t recommend Como Shambhala enough! It’s the perfect spot to unwind, recharge, and soak in everything Bali has to offer. We can’t wait to come back!
Como - is beyond perfect. Overflowing with beauty and luxury..... Everything you imagine as the best of the best is here. We had the privilege of Ayu looking after us. She is literally a goddess. Perfection. Life is better when you get some time at COCO Shambhala
The Shambhala is a wellness sanctuary in the very spiritual and heart filled Bali. The immediate feel, the scent and service that you encounter when laying foot on the property simply puts you at ease and makes you want to slow down. I visited the estate on a solo trip but a friend joined me for a good chunk of it. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and regularly checked on us and asked us what we needed. You can either book just a room and have wellness services added on or (as my friend and I did it) choose a wellness path which is inclusive of high quality treatments - Ayurvedic or Chinese Medicine related - food and other things. I loved doing a path because it got much of what I wanted covered. It was extensive so I probably could have chosen one where there weren’t as many classes but because the instructors were all so good, it was actually beneficial to take those. My highlights were the lunch we had at the Kedara - a beautiful hike down through the property with stunning rainforest and temple vibes, the 90 min massage treatments, the cold plunge, hydro pool and just the freshest food and drinks you could imagine. Our personal concierge, Ayu, was just the best also. She helped coordinate so much and was very informative, professional and friendly. Would totally return to this piece of heaven on earth one day soon!
Beautiful location and wonderful grounds to explore with natural springs. Friendly and attentive staff on hand. Dimas looked after us during our stay and was exceptional and very helpful and attentive.
The TV did not work during our stay despite several efforts to fix the problem.
Did a wellness retreat with a friend & had the BEST time! Great massages & treatments, beautiful surroundings, delicious plant-based food, nourishing activities. I really enjoyed the Balinese gratitude ceremony with Yu Dian & the biking through the village with Sumara. We also got a personal assistant to help us schedule our wellness program & Maha was also so lovely !
Incredible staff (special thanks to Mahayuni), incredible service, incredible estate and tranquility
I recently had the pleasure of staying at COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali with my family, and it was an extraordinary experience. The resort is set in a beautifully maintained natural environment, with stunning landscaping that enhances the serene atmosphere. The world-class facilities are top-notch, offering everything you could need for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. The food at the resort is amazing, and the chefs are incredibly accommodating of any special requests, ensuring that every meal is a delight. The warmth and hospitality of the staff truly stand out, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout our stay. A special mention must go to Ayu, our personal assistant, who was exceptional in attending to our every need. Her readiness to execute any request with a smile made our experience even more memorable. Overall, COMO Shambhala Estate provided an awesome experience for our family, and we can't wait to
Environment, service and food
Excellent stay! Highly recommend! The resort is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing stay. Dimas was so helpful and took care of us and made sure everything was perfect. He provided lots of helpful suggestions on activities to do and your suggestions. Super responsive. He even helped get us some extra of our favorite fruits. Gede was an amazing tour guide. He took us on the rice field bike tour, and we loved him so much, we went on a full day tour with him the next day to visit the rice terrace, water temple, and a waterfall. Insta hubby material! We also learned so much about Bali culture and traditions from him. Inspirational man. We will definitely come back and stay for longer!
The best resort hotel in Bali.
None
Kudus restaurant, the spa and the setting
I food at Glo was very ordinary, we only ate there once. The adsence of any fans, particularly in the restaurant and bar area made it quite uncomfortable
Exceptional property and all around experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is all around perfect. Everything is meticulous. The food and the staff are incredible. The spa and classes that they offer daily on the property are wonderful. Truly heaven on earth. 100/10.
The entire ambiance of the resort was perfect. The room was spacious and clean. The food was super fresh, organic and healthy. The staff were amazing and tentative. The estate walk was incredible and grounding within nature and utter beauty everywhere. We loved every minute we spent!
This is nothing short of a spectacular experience, everything from start to finish was immaculately serviced, great rooms, private swimming pool, fantastic yoga and other health treatment, private picnic next to the holy water spring, excellent food choices. I am traveling a lot globally and stay in quite a few top hotels but this one ranks very high on my list. There was nothing that could be improved and in my view all due to great people who are motivated to provide the best possible experience to their guests.

This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at, period. The views from the property and the rooms are breathtaking. All the water at the hotel (incl. tap water and the pool) come from a natural spring! Although the hotel was full, you can hardly see the other guests as the property is so expansive. Each room comes with a personal assistant who is always on standby for you. Ms. Dayu is an absolute gem and took great care of us and our daughter during our stay. So many activities to do. Great for couples, remote working, families etc. Food was impeccable. Fresh, healthy, seasonal, delicious. Cant wait to return!
Absolutely nothing
EVERYTHING! Awesome absolutely everything. The location, the silence, the jungle, the natural spring pools, the food and in special all the care and kindness of the Staff! ❤️
Nothing to say
beautiful property & super friendly staff but if you’re looking for a modern hotel, Como Shmabala is not the place for you!
this is a truest exceptional property that I would love to return to. The grounds are simply stunning and the rooms are beautiful. If you want to escape to a tropical sanctuary where the staff wonderfully care for you - this is your place! This is a special place and I am going to miss waking up to the sound of birds and of course their fabulous breakfasts.
nothing
when define paradise its this hotel a must visit .
Como Shambhala Estate is paradise without exaggeration. You are staying in the jungle in the heart of nature. The design of this estate is so beautiful. The staff are exceptionally helpful and always give you the perfect service. The food is always fresh and delicious. The yoga classes, spa facilities, and the estate shop were excellent. The estate is ideal for honeymoon, solo travellers for relaxation and meditation, and families who want to disconnect from the world.
ok this place was unreal! the location was absolutely tranquil, we had wild monkeys outside our villa in the morning, great amenities and lots of activities, also nice and secluded.
I think there needs to be a full benefit option. the fact you’re already paying a high price and have to pay for everything on top of that is a bit much. all food and 1 massage and activities daily for a slightly higher price would be justified.
The property is magical. The warmth and hospitality of all the staff and the fact that everyone knew us and addressed us by name. The toiletries were lovely and smelled so good. The variety of menu options available at the in-house restaurants was great.
This is my favourite hotel on earth and I have been here more than 15 times. The luxury is in the space the attention to detail and the true feeling that you are in Bali not in a concrete box. The food is exceptional the service outstanding there is nowhere like it on earth and that’s why I keep coming back.
For $2000/night its a great stay. Staff is the BEST here. You will be very happy for sure.
Staff is beyond attentive and kind, and cannot rave enough about the wellness and holistic options available. Truly a hidden oasis - especially recommend staying on the estate and exploring the grounds and springs.
Stunning jungle and river views, world class yoga & pilates facilities & instruction, excellent wellness programmes and super tasty nutritious food with very helpful staff, true 5* wellness. Spacious rooms and lots of privacy & promotion of fitness, would highly recommend
This was our second time staying here and it is the most beautiful hotel we
Exceptional stay at Villa 5. Beautiful grounds, lovely 3 level villa and pool, food in Glow was outstanding, our PA Sunarta made our stay and changing itinerary seamless and no effort. Treatments perfect especially outside down at the spring. The people are lovely, genuine, listen and remember. Highly recommended for peace and quiet!
Had a wonderfully quiet 3 night stay with my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary. We indulged in several massages and several activities put on by the Hotel. It's a 15 minute drive from Ubud itself, but it's remoteness from the main road ensures a very quiet stay. Hotel was impeccable and the staff more than helpful. The food was delightfully healthy and creative. Would recommend staying if you just want to get away from it all.
Great room, beautiful grounds, wonderful staff, fantastic massages, fun activities, delicious food. We couldn't have asked for a better start to our Indonesia holiday.
We visited 5 beautiful hotels in Bali and this was the worst and the most expensive. The Hotel itself is great and provides lots of services including many traditional spa treatments. The Villa we stayed in was also nice and the Hotel accommodated us when we asked to move rooms because there was a ceremony going on for 3 days next to our room which was all days long and noisy. It was not the hotels fault the ceremony was going on but we got downgraded without a refund or any compensation but the noise from drums and chicken fights was unbareable from our Villa which we however moved back into after the Ceremony was over. The staff is trained to up sell everything which got very annoying after one day and it feels like they are on a commission. As this is a realtivly expensive resort you would expect the Hotel to go above and beyond to be accommodating on requests which they did but they charged for everything which we didn't mind but you felt ripped off. For example, if you asked for the chicken meal but instead of potatoes you wanted steamed vegetables then they would charge you for the chicken meal without the potatoes and charge you for a Vegetable entree they had on the menu. As we had some dietary restrictions each meal therefore costs over USD$100 for 2 people which for lunch is excessive in my opinion. The Hotels we loved and would recommend are the Villas at Ayana Resort and Spa, The Viceroy, The Four Seasons at Sayan, The Kayon Resort Ubud.
An amazing hotel the location, staff and facilities. I had an incredible time at the hotel, from a speedy and efficient check in at 2.00am in the morning, the excellent classes Pilates and Yoga. Many thanks to Buddi for helping me to improve on my yoga. The staff for their kind and friendly conversations. The wonderful Estate Walk in the mornings with a guide best way to start the day. I cant wait to return.
It is absolutely a paradise once you enter the estate. The facilities, service and food are the best I've experienced from luxury hotels. Every guest has their own room assistant who spend time to discuss travel plan and daily needs. Remember to bring your sports and Yoga gear as there are complimentary estate walk and yoga classes. On one morning, I also saw monkeys travelling through the jungles and my roof. Had a really good time there.
Great room. Planned to only stay 2 nights, but extended it for additional nights because it was so decadent and amazing. Lots to do, great service!
A unique experience in zen like tropical grounds beautifully tended to. The residences were dreamy and the food delicious. A gracious welcome and and perfect service contributed to a wonderful, restful stay.
