Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The place was clean nothing to much for the staff . Asked for extra tea and milk no problem got a complimentary up grade from single to double. Love the place everywhere is in ready reach even at my age it's only a 12 minute walk to the train station.and Asda and 5 mins to Middleton grange shopping centre
If your of a certain age the top of the house is a bit of a stretch after a few drinks .
Staff friendly and helpful
This hotel has poor reviews and is inexpensive so I didn't expect much. The location is handy, but the cleanliness of the room was far below any possible expectation. The room had a serious bedbug infestation, and bedding and towels were stained. There were streaks on windows and walls, and what look like cigarette burns on furniture. Bedbugs were mentioned to staff so hopefully actioned.
Clean an upgrade to the quieter area for me . Owner/ manager could not do enough.
TV was a challenge
❌ Disgraceful Service – Kept £350 From Elderly Parents With Memory IssuesI am absolutely appalled by how this hotel treated my elderly parents, who both suffer from memory issues. They booked a room for £350, but when they needed to cancel, staff explicitly told them they would receive a full refund. That refund never arrived. The hotel has kept their £350 despite their verbal promise. Taking financial advantage of vulnerable, elderly individuals who have cognitive difficulties is deeply unethical. Do not trust this establishment with your money or your loved ones. They lack basic honesty, empathy, and professional customer care.
Nothing
The bed sheets were dirty and the room had an awful smell. There was damage to the cupboard. The towels were dirty and the shower was filthy. The curtain rail didn’t fit and hang properly.
Id highly recommend people watch their episodes of Four in a Bed before booking this place, it was really disgraceful 😑. And thank the lord I was shown the episode before I book this place for my workers for the next 3 weeks.
Everything £75 for one night burns on the table and outlets no hot water smell off weed room was tiny mold in the shower tryed to get money back twice got same message back twice still no refund walked in was there about 20 minutes to long and walked back out
Everything.
Nothing
The hotel is under new management and is far improved. There is now an Indian restaurant which is exceptional and good value for money . The staff are attentive and check in and check out is easy . It's £4.50 in a taxi to the station. At 6 in the morning it's cheap
The TV signal on the room was poor apart from that . I cannot fault it .
Rooms are amazing and the restaurant is amazing for value and top class food and staff are so friendly it's like being at home
Nothing
Stinks of fags. crack heads stayin there ,noises all night
Lights didn't work shower not working TV chat work properly window didn't shut poor all round
Everything
Nothing, we have to leave at the time of arrival
The room was very dirty , on arrival the bath was half with used water, laundry was dirty, unacceptable.
The location was the reason I booked
Main Reasons Room was very filthy!! No key given for Room Had atmosphere of HOSTEL rather than Hotel Other Reasons Not sure person who showed me my room was a staff member and not just another resident (the person was friendly ) No toilet roll in bathroom TV or remote not working Did not try bed as state of room made me wonder about how clean it was.
Like a crack den
Location was fine
It was freezing cold , no heating at all , i've been ill since I stayed there
The lady who let me in was honest and seemed happy - the first thing she said was hello, and greeted me, but then explained the room key had been stolen so it had to be unlocked and the hot water was off.
Hot water broken, carpets dirty, bed linen dirty.
Friendly staff
Absolutely dirty and not well maintained
It's a horrible filthy I didn't stay I had to go elsewhere
There was a leak n heating dirty bedding a needle behind the bed there was nothing at all I can say I liked it's a dhss hostel
Nothing
The windiw didnt shut. No heating or hot water no running water when i text to complain he ignored ne i left aftef 2 hours
It was cheap and easy to find
I woke up covered in bites. Looks like bed bug bites, however we did not check the mattress to confirm. Considering the condition of the hotel I wouldn’t be surprised.
Cheap but for extra you can afford much better
Toilet was unusable blocked
It was rotten drug paraphernalia in room loud music played all night
It was rotten drug paraphernalia in room loud music played all night
Got stuck on the motorway. Tried fining the hotel for over 3 hours. Got the run around and tried lots of different numbers. Eventually got there 45 mins after 10. There should have been someone on the counter till 12 according to the info I received. No one was there. There was a telephone number on the door which rang though to a dead line. No one answered the ring doorbell.
We spent the night sleeping in the car.
Nothing , everything been dirty and broken
im not at all happy bearing in mind i had my 2 year old son staying with me, firstly they didn’t know what room i was in and had to make sure it was clean which should have been done before my arrival my room well we’re do I start no heating had to use electric heater the bedsheets were clean but dirty stained tab ash on floor and bathroom the tv remote not the right remote because i thought it was the batteries the shower takes ages to heat up minimal pressure
Location only
Noisy residents dirty and smell of Cannabis
Location, being left alone
Bed was comfortable.....hole in the towel Doors banging at all hours
Good location
No toilet roll Not greeted by staff Cold rooms Very basic No remote for TV
Full refund
- thick brown residue inside the kettle - brown residue on the toilet seat - pink mould on the bathroom taps - brown stains on the shower wall - limescale stains and dirt on the bathroom floor and toilet - BEDBUGS The manager’s best excuse was “we’ve only had the property a month”. Poor at best. Plenty of time to clean room. The room quite simply had not been cleaned at all, and they found it acceptable to host me there. What a disgrace. Full refund was issued. I have commenced court action because they refused to compensate my destroyed property (three away my clothes because of the bedbug infestation).
Looked ok from outside that’s about it
Was told there was breakfast available there isn’t any breakfast at all was told there was a bar that’s not the case either they used to be one but it’s not there now was told there was a restraint but that was also not open there was no staff the place was more Like a hostel than a hotel
I wish that I didn’t have to write bad reviews, 99.9% of mine are all positive but after staying here and being treated absolutely disgracefully by the staff I have no option. The staff ? rude and seemed as if what we asked for was all a chore, the room (a double) was very musty smelling and felt covered up by air fresheners, either by the previous occupants or forbid the boss/staff. Food was, well all I can say is “avoided”, I don’t do tit for tat but that’s two places I have stayed in Hartlepool and two that have dissatisfied me/us. Personally it seemed a good price BEFORE arriving but after our experience I would say it’s a £14.99 room at most… best avoided
Really disgusting, needs fully remodelling. Bed was uncomfortable. Food was awful too wouldn’t return to this establishment
Easy to locate
No staff to assist, checked in on the phone, room was dirty, electric kettle and cup very dirty They said there was an iron but there was nothing Carpets very dirty At the entrance, some people were sitting smoking
Location was good room was clean bed linen was fresh. It was quiet close to big shopping centre.
No shaving mirror. TV remote was missing . Not enough t bags taps loose no proper reception. Saying that because of location and the time I spent in the room I would return again.
I have never had a bad visits like this hotel. The hotel was too dirty and smelled terrible and the showers, hot waters no working and terrible service. I never go back to there. It was filthy🤢🤢🤢 I recommend nobody choose this hotel 🤮🤮🤮

bar was never open there was no staff on you have to have a phone or you will not get in there is a number on front door to phone to get the code to open the door rubbish
Nothing
Well light hanning off the ceiling Bedroom window would not close TV didn't work Walls was dirty Shower was cold Doesnt look like what it in pics It's an absolute dive
Very run down. But I will say very good for the money.
Bed needs throwing out. It’s had its day.
You aren't paying much, and you aren't going to get much. Broken space heater, stained carpet, terribly finiky shower--either scalding hot or cold. No soap. Otherwise, it was fine. The fire alarm went off at 4 am. It was the loudest thing I've ever heard. I called the number and a dude came running down the road wearing his slippers in 5 minutes, so that wasn't a terrible tragedy.
No one there just got a message to get in no toilet paper in the room blinds absolutely dirty window broken bleeding was all marked the tap in the bathroom wasn't fixed properly honestly will never stay again IV heard so many bad things about this hotel but wanted to give them a benefit of the doubt and find out for myself will not be staying again
The Hotel was run down. The mattress on my bed was so worn out I could feel the slats of the frame under me. One of the towels was ripped almost in half and yet still was considered acceptable to place in a guests room. Check in was self service which did work but meant there was no one on site at all. A guest got beaten up by some youths that managed to get into the hotel and the whole hotel was woken up by the alarms and the arrival of five (yes 5) police cars and an ambulance. The picture of the dining room might have been the case a number of years ago but both the dining room and the bar were locked up and stacked full of tables and chairs and not accessible to guests. All in all one of, if not the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. My colleagues all had similar experiences. When we got home I had a jocular comment from one of them saying "I have just incinerated all the clothing I worse at the hotel" that should give you a clear idea of our stay. Not run by a professional organisation instead run into the ground for profit. I should have realised there was going to be issues when the first thing that happened was that whilst I had gone for a listing that was "Pay At The Property" I had deposits taken with no warning for each of the five rooms. Then full payment was taken several days before the stay....again with NO WARNING. I would not recommend and would actually forcefully say STAY AWAY. Happy to prove all this if needed...pics were taken
Efficient for what u pay staff incredibly friendly and go above and beyond i left my luggage and they held it 2 weeks kindly without knowing I'd been in hospital
Basic, easy checkin by key code. Very close to town centre.
It was cheap but now I know why. The shower was warm and OK.
It was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in. Knew it was cheap so wasn't expecting much but it was disgusting. Bedding and towels were dirty, mattress was terrible bathroom was smelly and hairs stuck to tiles.. Carpet was filthy. Stairs smelled strongly of urine. Toilet was broken and kept making loud noises all night. I know it was cheap but I've stayed in other cheap rooms that were much better than this one. My room had an extra door to a neighbouring room that was a worry too.
The room we stayed in had a used sanitary towel in the undersink unit.. also, the toilet was making a really loud grinding noise, which was really annoying in the early hours of the morning
Absolute cesspit of a Hotel and needs to be closed down ASAP. It was so bad that i have contacted 'Hartlepool Council' and requested they visit this HellHole and close it down.
Liked the fact I had a roof over my head for a couple of nights and was easy to book and check in
Rooms could have been cleaner. Unfortunately the hotel seems like it's more of a half way house with what seemed like residents living there who do make the place look bad in all honesty. Shower has nearly no pressure so was hard work showering but other than that it did me for what I needed.
Nothing it was that bad I didn’t even turn up because of the service
For three days were laundry bags directly in front of my room/ door. The light in the bathroom didn’t work and the towels were damaged. Difficult to reach someone from the staff.
Nothing.
Worst place I've ever stayed. Place should be shut down. Disgusting. Sheets were all marked. No one there to complain to. Walked out.
Location
The room was dirty, mattres are horrible, with springs broken, cannot sleep, hairs in bed, rubbish left in bin, dirty cups, old and broken furnitures, dirty carpet, batroom dirty floor, bath, glass, shower head, tiles and radiator dirty, dusty. No staff in the hotel - you need to call attendent and is just out of hours service, fire alarm shows faults and staff area dirty, full of rubbish. Restaurant stinks, public area, staircase dirty, dusty, full of rubbish and broken stuff stored there, old letters with personal details left there (GDPR issue) no parking, no breakfast - it was adverised that you can order and pay for it. Fake advertised. How you can adverise this place as 3-stars hotel?
Decent
No Aircon, dirty window.
If I could give this place a 0 I would. We booked for 14 nights due to a work trip. We ended up spending 1 night in this hotel and left. It was filthy, it was horrid and it was just not up to any standards of a hotel. It seemed like a half way house - disgusting. I have attached some photos. We requested a refund for the 14 days as we only did one day here and we weren't allowed a refund. Expedia wouldn't even refund us. We will not be using Expedia ever again. Do not allow your kids or family to stay here. Absolute dump. Needs knocking down and starting again.
The TV worked!
Staff were virtually non-existent. Reception & entry required the making of a local phone call. As an overseas visitor, I had no local phone. I was not provided a door entry code or other access information prior to arrival. I was eventually let into the premises by a passing cleaner. Later, after a subsequent day out, the door entry code I had been given by another resident no longer worked on my return. It had been changed after I went out. So I was locked out a second time. The lights in the windowless bathroom were not working & were still not working when I left after 4 days. The shower head dangled on the base of the shower cubicle, lacking a bracket to hold it. Handle on tap broken. The carpets were stained & dirty & in need of a thorough cleaning.
Kept very clean and homely Friendly helpful staff
Was okay but a nightmare for me as I had leave early because there was only only one coach for me to get home. So I lost a few days. Bed was very comfortable and my room was clean and was close to shops and town. I would stay again and should be back this month :) cleaner seemed nice enough and the guy i met who let me in the property was also nice so thank you guys :)
Terrible place, like staying in a war zone. Rooms, dirty, smelly, dirty bed single bed, carpet was filthy. The shower was cold all the time, it trickled out, it was mouldy, filthy, and it stunk.the room was freezing as the window was stuck in the open position. The door was like cardboard and someone tried to break in during the night. There was people smoking in the corridors, it was like drug den. I didn’t feel safe and I didn’t want to leave my luggage in my room as I feared it would be stolen. All night there was foreigners arguing in the corridors and people coming and going at all hours of the night. The other guests that I saw were druggies and alcoholics. There was a drunken argument right outside my room. I couldn’t contact any representative of the hotel despite attempting to several times. It’s the worst experience I have ever had despite doing 2 tours of Afghanistan. I would never ever stay there again, it is shocking, in fact the place itself is in worse condition than some of the buildings I have seen that have suffered mortar damage. Please please avoid for your own safety and sanity.
Nothing
It was like a a drug dealers party hotel room next door had constant Nokia ring tones non stop in and out of there room not suspicious at all. Also staff members room had loads of blood smeared around the room. Also fridge on a stool half its size making it a hazard
Nothing!
The rooms where filthy, cups where dirty, smelly, i got moved twice, they tried to move me a 3rd time, the toilet was dirty and un-flushed with someone else’s urine left in it, the corridors had rubbish up and down the stairs and the member of staff was smoking a joint! The police should shut the place and council should shut the place down.
I use this place as somewhere to crash after a few beers with a mate. As far as that goes it's functional. Bring your own bog roll and you should be ok. Don't plan on a shower.
Stinks of weed, dodgy people all over the place. noisy all night, fixtures and fittings very neglected - don't expect clean or good condition. Seriously it is what it is - a room to sleep the beer off and leave early.
Great for a quick trip from London to Hartlepool. Bed was comfy. Loo was a little noisy but l sleep with ear buds and eye patch. Green safety light for others could be an issue above the door but not for myself. Ill stay again Ta ":))
friendly staff Vfm
Upon arrival I had to ring a number stuck on the door to get the code to get in and told my room number. No reception, no staff in the building. The whole place stunk of weed and stale smoke. Absolutely filthy, not been cleaned in years. No toilet roll in my room and when I finally got through to someone on the phone I was told someone would bring some at 5pm this was at 2.30. I'd say you get what you pay for but the state of the place I feel I should have been paid to stay there. Bed was really lumpy and the pillows was as thin as paper and was filthy. People banging about all night. One of the windows in my room was missing the handle so couldn't close it. No heating or hot water.
Large room
Cold lack of service generally run down needs a lot of improvement in furniture
Area
Filthy, shower scolded me, heating permanently on I had to buy a fan, no blinds, drug dealers whistling all night, no toilet roll, noise from upstairs room all night, blood on headboard, people trying door handle multiple times once when I was getting dressed someone opened bedroom door
Arrived 30min before check-in deadline; was stood at door for 10min trying phone no on door, phone no I'd previously been sent an entry code from, & ringing 'Ring' doorbell, before a (not particularly friendly) answer... Was panicking that I'd be roomless for the night. (Had had a previous poor stay but was desperate for somewhere convenient/cheap due to partner being kept in hospital.) And was almost out of phone charge! On approach to room (& spotting a discarded mug in the hallway that had been since morning) I was hit by smell of cigarette smoke, then a man (smoker) came in from fire escape adjacent to my room. There was a bundle of dirty bed linen on the hallway floor to the other side of my door. Within my room: *No TV remote - TV unusable without (buttons on unit wouldn't access the menus sufficiently) *I realised I would have to watch TV on my (lacking charge) phone, then realised there was only 1 power socket near the 'desk' - far from bed - but no seat so had to stand & hold it *took a while to realise I was overlooked by the 'smokers balcony', so quickly pulled blind *noticed something (underwear?) stuffed in the ceiling light, so had to keep it off to avoid fire risk (understand the staff unlikely to notice if a guest had done this) *The smell of cigarette smoke wafting in to the room was unbearable, then I realised the windows had been left open, closing the windows was a challenge reaching past desk and blind doesn't go back up *Floors not vacuumed/swept/mopped
Wasn't obvious where to enter the building. Wasn't made clear that there would be no-one to greet. Upon calling number on the door, the greeting still wasn't friendly. On opening the bedroom.door, first impression was good - tidy, and additional heater (previous accommodation elsewhere was cold!). During my stay, more and more details became apparent and uncomfortable: *Only half a toilet roll, without a holder (so had been previously handled by user(s)), *Only one mug although the room was booked for two people *Barely any coffee (although plenty of tea) *kettle was half-full of water (don't know how old) *carpet had clearly not been vacuumed *Upon getting in to bed (a rather lumpy one), I noticed the bedding smelt badly of mens BO (possibly the quilt, thru to cover, but it was strong) *The single bed (although not booked) had slept-in bedding on *No mention of WiFi anywhere
I don’t stay enought long yet ask me after week or two
Booked online, no one to greet us. I rang the out of hours contact twice with no reply. Dirty out dated. I booked for a homeless couple as an act of kindness. Then at 00.04 I got a call from them shouting saying 3 people were in the hotel, the 3rd person was me.
