The location is incredible with an unbelievable water front. The staff was extremely friendly and competent. They really made an effort to make me and my family (including 4 and 1 year old children) have an exceptional stay. The room was spacious, nice and clean with a sea view. Thank you very much!
Location and food
Fabulous location
Our ‘quiet weekend trip’ coincided with two birthday parties taking place, complete with some very happy, rather drunk merriment and even a karaoke (which could not be heard from our bedroom.
Sea view rooms
Garden rooms
The location, the staff friendlyness, very clean and comfortable room and great food in the restaurant.
the only issue we had was the bed which was on the small size and was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that we were delighted with everything else
Location fabulous Food excellent Friendly staff
Very uncomfortable bed
Staff are very friendly and make their guests feel welcome. They do everything possible to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Food was outstandingly good. Bar area was cozy and friendly.
I’d booked a sea view room in particular however due to a mix up I was put in a garden view room which was smaller and without the view I wished for. Unfortunately the staff were unable to move me into the room I had booked due to other guests being in there. Once I discussed this with the staff they were very apologetic and offered me my evening meal at no charge by way of compensation. I was pleased to accept this and had a very enjoyable stay. I will definitely return to The Gazelle but would ensure that a sea view room is available. I would also politely suggest that some areas could be cleaned more thoroughly in order to match the standards expected of such a lovely hotel.
Staff were all friendly and helpful. Food was great! View from bedroom window made out stay even better
Beautiful location . Polite & friendly & helpful staff .
We have been a few times and my partner proposed to me as it’s such a special place
Nothing a excellent
The view is amazing looking towards Bangor and a perfect view of Menai Bridge
General cleanliness was poor. Filthy stairs, bathroom floor. Cold room, radiators needed bleeding. Staff very casual some with uniform others just loitering.
Only had toast., but generous and good. location was excellent but signage could be clearer. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful.
Shower was weak. Hairdryer in room 2 was faulty
The breakfast was well presented and very substantial. Its clear the products were of good quality
Nothing
had a warm welcome and they managed to get us in the room early
Noisy toilet system everytime somebody flushes the toilet. Private/function room was very noisy below. Poor service on restaurant waited half an hour before our order was taken so an hour wait before eating which ended up being to late 9pm
Location was amazing, bathroom was new and really well done. Quality of the furnishings in the room was first class. Ample supply of tea and coffee with quality kettle and mugs and tumblers.
Heating and hot water didn’t work, even though the hotel knew they didn’t notify us, we found out when we heard another guest complaining. Bar was used as an extension to the restaurant so the only place to sit and have a drink was a small table in reception. Were not asked if we wanted to dine in the restaurant, or offered the choice of having breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast was as expected but more choice of cereal would have been nice.
Not being told about the kitchen extractor fan which was on the other side of the wall in our room and very noisy, when I mentioned it I was told it would go off at 8 O'clock when meals were no longer being served. At 9 o'clock I had to go downstairs again and ask why it was still on. Kitchen staff were just leaving but went back and turned it off. (Room 5 )- would not have booked if I had known the fan was there.
Views, food. Comfy bed.
Artic temperature in bedroom. No extra blanket available. Dark lighting in room, and nowhere for a girl to get herself ready. A few light touches would help.
View was amazing
The annex is very noisy, you could hear others in their rooms. Didn’t like people walking past my window to their doors, they could see straight into our room. Stay 3 nights, no housekeeping at all the whole time. £12,50pp for breakfast, full Welsh one morning and scrambled egg on toast another. Choice of rice crispies or coco pops. Not great
Lovely location and nice relaxed feel. The downstairs facilities were well decorated and felt cosy making the most of the incredible view
The rooms were a bit shabby and the walls need to be cleaned/ painted. There was a tv stand on the wall not in use and it felt a bit old/ tired. The noise from other bathrooms was very loud, but the rooms were otherwise quiet
Clean and welcoming
Lack of parking for people staying at the hotel
The location as not too far from our daughter in uni halls pelt residence and actually by the sea, could walk into the sea had we wished to
The road to the residents car parking was a little daunting and a bit tight but we got up and down it ok. Would choose a sea view room next time.
Nothing - room offered was filthy no mattress protector Shown another room again filthy
Everything except the position
Fantastic views , beautiful place to stay, it was breath taking.
Wonderful locatiom.
Fantastic location on the sea front with lovely views. A clean and very comfortable room and ensuite. The bed itself was really comfortable and there was plenty of choice of teas, coffee & hot chocolate. Had a lovely welsh breakfast, overlooking the fantastic views. Staff were all friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here & I will return!
Superb location, lovely hotel, food is excellent
Nothing
Great views Friendly staff
Brilliant location, with great views
Staff where a credit to the owner food was that good stay extra day on top of the 4 and eat every night
Food , view, staff location
Brilliant location with outstanding views, great room. Ensuite bathroom was spotlessly clean. Management and breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was the best we've had in any hotel.
No faults at all.
The Gazelle is truly a very special place . Stunning setting , with a Charming warm and cosy interior . Great staff and absolutely superb food . We have already booked our next stay
Food and staff were very good
Room could have been a little bit clearer
Nice views & location, rooms were clean.
The room was very small and I was woken up in the morning by doors slamming constantly. Customer service at check in and at the bar wasn’t the best.
Stunning location. Very friendly. Great food.
Views were gorgeous. Rooms spotless and cosy. Food was lovely and staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent property beautiful surroundings
Nothing
Beautiful views, rooms were very nice. Great location :)
There are some rooms which are above the communal hall, it can get noisy. Bring earplugs as insurance. ;(
It's hard to beat the location of the Gazelle on the Menai Strait. Gorgeous view across to the Bangor Pier and across to Y Gogarth. Rooms are comfortable, and we had a nice view. Shower is great -- exactly what you need when you're on the road after a long day.
Only real complaint is that the WiFi wasn't working.
Warm, comfortable and cosy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was exceptional. Rooms clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Lovely one night stay at the Gazelle in early December. The location is just fabulous. The room was basic but very clean and had a nice shower. I didn't pay for a Sea view but I can just imagine looking out to sea would have been stunning. The bar area is very cosy, and the food just wow, ' gourmet pub grub' that exceeded my expectations.
They were just a couple of things whilst they did not spoil my stay they didn't give the best impression. Firstly the stairs leading to the first floor rooms looked very tired and needed fresh carpet and repaint. Secondly which I found very strange, the reception was in complete darkness when I tried to check out. I had to knock on the kitchen door to attract the attention of the chef to hand over my keys. I understand the Gazelle was under new management, so I hope these little things are in the process of being fixed because I look forward to staying again when in Anglesey.
Excellent room, comfy bed and brilliant view s
The room was cold until we worked out were the heating switch was. No information given on check in
Excellent location, good shower and good breakfast.
Room facing the back was too small. The ones facing the Menai Straits were a lot better. Worth the upgrade.
The staff, the location, the meal..everything was lovely.
Nothing.
Everything, location was amazing. Beds and room was very comfortable.
Very friendly, attentive , polite staff. Superb location. Excellent food.
It's a pub with rooms, not a hotel. The bathroom was good (room 7) though the door needed hanging the other way so you could actually get in there without almost having to climb onto the window sill, and there's no caddy in the shower. Noisy plumbing.. Nice that towels, soap, and shampoo etc were provided. Room 7 really was a single room, into which a small double bed (not very comfortable) had been crammed. No bedside tables or lamps, poor WiFi reception, no phone, not enough sockets and none equipped with USB. Poor lighting. Only one chair and that was under the TV. So two people had to sit on the bed, leaning against the headboard to watch said TV. Irritatingly, the light switches were behind the headboard, so every time we leaned back the lights switched off....Use one of the lids from the coffee/tea caddies to shield the switches (top tip!). Copious amounts of milk, coffee etc were provided in the room...which was great. As noted on other reviews, you have to stagger up two flights of narrow, poorly lit stairs, lugging your own bags, to reach your room. If you're frail or lame, forget it. Also, there's a 6 foot plus huge mirror apparently leaning against a landing wall half way up the stairs, that worried me ... was it anchored in some way??? Sound proofing between this room and the one next door was non-existent....we heard every laboured breath, roaring snore and digestive rumble...... Check-in is about 4pm, which is late if you're used to hotels. I enjoyed myself there. The staff are great. The food is great. The location is great. And apparently you can take dogs! How good is that?!? But it's a pub with rooms, not a hotel. If you know you're going to a pub with rooms, and you're able to manage two flights of stairs, you'll have a great time. If you're expecting a hotel, with hotel quality amenities, you might be slightly disappointed. But I would certainly return. PS.
The position, the friendliness of staff, the room, especially the amazing view and the delicious breakfast. We were particularly impressed with care taken to accommodate a food allergy.
For us, the stairs to the bedroom were a problem. Also we’d have liked the bed to be made daily and a bar of soap and shampoo provided, but these were all minor.
The location is everything and the view from the room simply stunning. Bedroom was spotless bathroom very modern and clean. All of the staff, very friendly and helpful. Had dinner there and the food was lovely and excellent value for money.
The only negative was the power of the shower in room one. It was quite weak, but in comparison to everything else I wouldn’t even be able to deduct a point from any score. It was just disappointing as I do like a good shower.
Because it was quiet got upgraded to a lovely room with views of the straights and behold. Staff member was extremely helpful and sociable. Great food as always and breakfast was fantastic.
Nothing, it was extremely quiet which is unusual.
Very friendly staff, great food and million dollar views. Lovely pub
Everything was exeptional the location couldn't have been any better. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was lovely decorated and clean. The food and drink in the bar and restaurant were amazing the best lasagne I have ever tasted and also the breakfast was gorgeous. We will definitely be back thank you for a lovely stay
Nothing
Location and friendly staff.
Issue with main door not closing properly to annex building.
Beautiful view
Walls very thin could hear conversations from room next door. Room very small No WiFi in room
Extremely hospitable and friendly staff which really makes a difference.
Location was great
A little chilly in the room on a wet afternoon in November.
Lovely hotel, great bar and great friendly staff.
Having to leave.
Good location, beautiful views. Excellent breakfast and dinner.
Everything was good.
The location is stunning, the view from the front over the Menai Straight is glorious - I watched a firework display over on the other side of the bay, which was magical. I didn’t eat there, but the staff were lovely and my room was perfect for me by myself - spotless, with a comfy bed and feather pillows, which a lot of places have done away with ! The bathroom was modern and the shower was super powerful.
The Gazelle is very obviously a very old building and has the plumbing noises that comes with old buildings - when the next door turned their taps on, you could really hear the noise of the water in the pipes, so I’d advise ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.
Everything was great as usual staff friendly an pleasant and always made to feel welcome
Nothing like I said the place is excellent and value for the money
Location and views are spectacular. Cozy restaurant with amazing food.
Loud taps. Assume due to old plumbing system so not much can be done there.
Location. Very friendly staff.
Pillows, do need better quality ones. It’s a bit tired. The landlord is starting to redecorate and when finished this place will be fantastic.
Fabulous location and very well run.
Maybe a sign directing to the Bottom car park but I’m being picky.
Staff were great, very warm, welcoming and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was superb.
The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in with the worst flat pillows. A shower that didn’t ever get hot, it was warm but not hot! Very disappointed as all we wanted was a good night sleep and a hot shower.
The food was very good. The situation was very good.
The room was disappointing. There was a mixture of shabby furniture. There was only one bedside table. The lighting was poor. The refreshments were meagre. We had to ask for tea bags. The cups were stained. When we arrived we weren’t offered help to take our bags to the room (I’m 78 and my husband 82)
Lovely place to stay staff great room Amazing and food great too
There is nothing to not like
Lovely hotel, location perfect, and the food was excellent
The view and the food
Cold. People sat in bar with coats on. Duvet on bed was a thin summer duvet and my wife was cold during the night.
Location was amazing, friendly staff and good food .
Good sized room & bathroom with tremendous views over the Straits to the Carnedau and Snowdonia. Excellent breakfast with the same wonderful views from the dining room.
Access road was temporarily closed so several flights of steps had to be negotiated to get to the entrance. This was the only downside to our stay.
Spectacular location and vibe, I was there in October for Eryri marathon. We received a warm and friendly welcome, comfortable and inviting evening atmosphere and excellent food.
Nothing really
Staff could not do more to ensure our stay was exceptional...
Nothing
We liked everything about The Gazelle Hotel the room was a nice size with a beautiful ever-changing view we can't wait to return and would definitely recommend to friends and family ...
We thought the stairway to our room was quite dark but manageable apart from this small thing theres nothing else not to like ....
Location was beautiful and the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had 4 rooms booked 2 standard- small but functional 1 family room- in a separate annex 1 sea view - best room
We all found the rooms hot and the plumbing was very noisy, disturbed us in the night.
