Katala Suites and Villas

Nice room and garden but.....

We stayed in a suite for one night and in Villa number 1 for two nights. Feedback about the suite: - Breakfast rather poor with an orange liquid that they call orange juice. - While the room was nice, the bathroom is old. The shower head urgently needs to be replaced, is completely calcified. - Only 2 small water bottles were provided for free per day, further water had to be paid. Furthermore, the "room book" stated that the water in Bali is drinkable but they would recommend boiling it! (See photo). Our local guide told us that NO ONE IN BALI DRINKS THE TAP WATER. In other hotels you get unlimited water. Feedback about the villa: - While breakfast was included in the suite, this was surprisingly not the case in the villa (contrary to what was described on Booking.com, at least at the German room description). After a long discussion with the hotel I gave up. - The kitchen in the villa was old, poorly equipped and partly rusted. - The floor around the pool is extremely slippery and the pool is not suitable for children or elderly people (too deep and no suitable stairs). - Villa 1 is directly at the busy road and therefore noisy. The most upsetting thing came at the end: There was a list in the room about how much it would cost if something gets broken or lost (are we in a youth hostel ??). And indeed, they charged us 150.000 Indonesian Rupiah (9 Euros) for a 'dirty' towel (2 stains, see photos and see attached bill). In summary: The price-quality ratio is definitely not correct here and the customer service is outrageous and greedy. We have previously stayed in 3 similar villas/hotels in Bali and this villa was the most expensive one with the worst quality.... small things also count. Not recommended. There are much better choices around there.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The property was well laid out with a fish pond and gardens.

The only thing I will say is that it's a bit off the beaten track. It may only be a ten minute walk each way to the main drag but in the heat it's uncomfortable and draining

The gardens were exceptional, beautifully maintained all day round. Loved the finish outside reception, they would greet us every time we walked down the path.

The pool wasn’t really that inviting to the eye , only because it is one of the older style concrete types. But it was very clean.

Personalized attention! The staff were lovely & always helpful. When our driver didn’t turn up Yuni helped by arranging a ‘Grab’ vehicle to get us to Ubud. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice. Katala was very quiet, away from the street noise. We were approximately 300 metres to the main shopping street & another 200 metres to the beach.

Merci cela nous a permis de nous ballader sur sanur Beach, aller à L'icon Bali sans nos baggages. Le petit déjeuner est excellent et copieux. Établissement au calme, et très accueillant. Top

Beliggenheden på en stille vej men tæt på restauranter og liv på hovedgaden. 15 min gang til Icon indkøbscenter. Utroligt serviceminded personale. Fantastisk indretning af værelser og dejlig pool. Vores villa var smukt indrettet. Morgenmaden var god.

Man skulle vælge forskellige menuer til morgenmad. De glemte hver dag en eller flere ting som vi måtte bede om.

Quiet friendly staff

Замечательный отель для комфортного отдыха! Удобное расположение. До моря можно дойти пешком всего за 10 минут. Рядом есть магазины, кафе. Домик просторный, чистый и уютный. Внутри, удобная кровать, качественное белье и исправная сантехника. Уборка проводилась регулярно и качественно. Персонал вежливый и приветливый. Заселили быстро, на все вопросы ответили с улыбкой. Очень внимательный хозяин отеля Матэо. Поможет с решением любого вопроса, посоветует, что посмотреть на острове. Отдых очень понравился, спасибо всем работникам ещё раз!

Excellent staff great gardens lovely room

The location is very central to make it an easy walk to restaurants, shops and the beach. The suite itself was comfortable and had all the essential amenities. The pool area was very nice and the staff were very helpful and happy.

Location could be a problem for less mobile people. Close to old Hardy’s supermarket, bit of a walk to beach restaurants etc but Shuttle bus should solve that issue.

The villa was a home away from home for us.Lovely pool and outside area. Nothing too much trouble for staff and management. Always happy to help. Easy walk to busy main road ( restaurants) while quiet and tranquil at our villa. Would highly recommend to anybody who wants quiet luxury not far from the crowds.

Entry and exit to pool was a challenge for us oldies. Got the hang of it so no real issue.

De villa was werkelijk prachtig en schoon. De lieve eigenaar Matteo en het personeel waren ontzettend behulpzaam en erg aardig! Heerlijk ontbijt. En zowel het privé zwembad als het gezamenlijke zwembad waren heerlijk! De ligging is ook perfect, je bent zo bij de hoofdstraat en ook zo op het strand.

Hôtel qui est vraiment super! le cadre est très beau et tout le personnel est au petit soin pour nous. Nous avons même pu rester la journée de notre départ (avant de prendre de l'avion) tout en bénéficiant de l'accès à la piscine, douche... Je recommande ce logement les yeux fermés. Le petit-déjeuner était également excellent.

Skvělé a klidné prostředí, hezký bazén. příjemní lidé, dobré snídaně. Kousek od rušné části Sanuru a i tak klidné. Kompletní služby. včetně masáží a praní prádla.

Naše vila byla taková hodně ošuntělá, opotřebovaná, ze stropu dokonce kapala voda. Určitě by bylo vhodné trochu vilu renovovat (vila číslo 8)

Kamers waren zeer net, personeel was super vriendelijk, ligging was zeer goed.

We had a wonderful stay recently at the Katala Suites. It's in a great location down some little quaint lanes, and very close to some lovely restaurants. We almost want to keep it a secret! The gardens were absolutely exquisite and the suites were large and beautifully decorated. It is a hidden treasure! The pool was also gorgeous and we met the owner who couldn't have been more welcoming. We will return!!

Sehr schöne Gartenanlage, ruhig obwohl mitten in Sanur, kurzer Spaziergang zur Hauptstraße bzw. Strand. Frühstücksauswahl war gut. Personal sehr freundlich. Hatte während unseres Aufenhalts Geburtstag - wurde mit einer kleinen Torte und einem Happy Birthday-Ständchen überrascht! :-)

Quiet location in an area in Bali we love. Great setting yet a short walk to Warungs or the Main Street.

We loved the closeness to the beach and restaurants. We had read some reviews about kids being noisy but we had no issues with that. Kids will be kids and they're asleep early and gone in the morning for activities. The pool on the last day was great. Our flight was at 7pm so we checked out but stayed by the pool until our cab at 3.30pm. There's a shower with shampoo/shower gel so you can be fresh getting on the plane.

There are so many light switches in the room it's hard to figure out which one is which. Lamps and plug sockets beside the bed would be great but no deal breakers for us. The beds are very firm.

An absolute perfect stay in Sanur. From the friendliness of the staff to the beautifully maintained grounds, the location to the hospitality, we could not recommend Katala more. The attention to detail offered at Katala is some of the best we have experienced throughout our years travelling. Our toddler was given fish food every morning to feed the fish in the pond, a delicious birthday cake left for my husband who celebrated his birthday during our stay, chips and peanuts given daily around the pool, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and it was always done with a smile. Everything is in walking distance with some great warungs and cafes tucked in amongst the local streets. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a beautiful stay ☀️

En nydelig villa leide vi i 5 netter. Sanur er veldig hektisk sted når det kommer til trafikk av bilder, scootere og syklister, så helt nydelig å trekke seg tilbake i en oase som ligger kun 7 min fra hovedgaten og 15 min gange fra stranden. Vi var 2 voksne og to barn på 9 og 12 år. Alle storkoste seg med eget basseng og utendørs stue og kjøkken. Fikk frokosten servert til villaen hver morgen etter ønsket tidspunkt.

Overnattingsstedet er helt topp, men gaten er hektisk med mye scootere som kjører i trange gågater. Dette er eneste minuset jeg kan si. Burde vært fri for motorkjøretøy!

Nothing really, originally thought the approach to the property was off putting, but this is normal in Bali, and it really was ok.

Eine kleine feine Anlage sehr ruhig. Nettes freundliches Personal, sehr netter Besitzer. Die Lage ist klasse. Nahe zum Sanur Zentrum und Strand mit Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten aber weg vom Trubel. Massagen sind möglich und klasse. Auf jeden Fall eine schöne Unterkunft in Südbali.

Prachtige plek. Ideaal om bij te komen van de lange reis. Matteo was heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Alles was heel netjes, personeel behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Een warm welkom! Het verblijf was echt modern en goed onderhouden. Airco prima, badkamer (incl toilet) zeer ruim. Shampoo, douchegel, bodycrème is allemaal aanwezig. Schone handdoeken, oortips, tandenborstel en tandpasta is voorzien. Een badjas en slippers ter beschikking in de kamer. Dagelijkse schoonmaak indien gewenst. 15 min lopen naar strand en winkelstraat. Op 5 minuten afstand gelegenheid om ontbijt, lunch of diner te nuttigen. Ook op 5 minuten afstand fietsen te huren. Al met al zeer geslaagd.

De keuken ;-). Karig ontbijtje te nuttigen, Lunch ook niet heel uitgebreid. Men biedt geen diner aan. Dus je bent echt genoodzaakt om het terrein te verlaten en buiten iets te gaan eten. Deze mogelijkheid bestaat, maar het is gewoon lekker als je er echt aan toe bent een dag te spenderen aan het zwembad en dus "thuis" wilt blijven, om dan doorgaans iets te kunnen bestellen. Drank daarentegen is er wel te nuttigen.

Calm and serene place in Sanur with great territory and very friendly and welcoming staff. Stayed here a week and it was a very good value. The suite felt very private even tho there and big windows. Easy access with a stroller. Beware that the property does not offer dinner service but there are lots of restaurants in the area. The pickup they have organised from the airport was great.

The breakfast is the same every day so after a while becomes a bit repetitive. The fruit platter is great tho!

The rooms were clean, large and the bed very comfortable. The outside shower was nice. The pool was warm with very nice surroundings. All staff were helpful, friendly and kind. Great location.

Ik verbleef hier 17 nachten en het voelde als een tweede thuis! Matteo is zo warm en verwelkomend. Hij behandelt elke gast als familie. Het personeel is zo vriendelijk en zorgzaam. De service is uitstekend en altijd met een oprechte glimlach. De villa’s zijn perfect in orde en schoon. De tuin en het zwembad zijn prachtig en perfect onderhouden. De ligging is ideaal. Rustig en toch centraal. Alles is op wandelafstand. Ik kijk er naar uit om hier ooit nog eens terug naartoe te komen.

Het eten was niet slecht maar ook niet van hoge kwaliteit en je kunt er niet dineren.

The villa with our own pool, kitchen and daybed was the perfect place to relax in the midst of bustling Sanur. The staff was very friendly, always happy to assist and attentive. Surprisingly this was the 2nd time we found these beautiful villas, so definitely a must visit spot.

The size of the grounds are like a boutique hotel which I like better than a super sized complex. The gardens and pool just feel great. All the staff are super friendly and helpful and the location is very central to everything. This was my second time staying at The Ka Ta La snd won't be the last.

Loved the villas and the staff. Bit of a walk to the beach so we hired a scooter.

De privacy van een eigen villa met eigen zwembad is ideaal. Tevens was het gezamenlijke zwembad erg fijn en de keuken was ook uitstekend. De eigenaar had tijd om met ons te praten en was zoals veel Indonesiërs super vriendelijk en behulpzaam net als het personeel.

Situé dans un quartier calme de Sanur, les jardins sont très bien entretenus et la piscine est magnifique. Le personnel est souriant et les chambres sont grandes et confortables. On y a très bien dormi. Après le check-out, vous pouvez laissez vos valises à la bagagerie et profiter de la piscine avant votre vol. Il y a même douche et toilettes à disposition.

Ce qui peut être un peu dérangeant c'est le vis-à vis avec les autres suites malgré les plantes etc...

This is a very nice hotel in a great (very quiet) location with amazing hosts. We had an issue in the villa and they helped us immediately. The service is top notch. The AC works very well, you get two waters every day and the cleaning is every second day, which is perfect.

We didn't really like the outside shower, but this is a minor issue. The villas are a bit outdated, but very clean.

Ontbijt was prima, maar er was geen optie voor yoghurt/granola, wat we elders wel hadden.

Short walking distance to the Main Street of Sanur, Great pool and sufficient lounges for guests, clean spacious rooms with good a/c, safe, comfy beds and pillows, friendly helpful staff, daily room turndown if requested. Rooms nicely spaced apart amongst lovely gardens.

On-site restaurant only provides breakfast/lunch, no dinner and no onsite bar. We walked down the lane/ to Main Street for all meals. They don’t mind if you bring your own drinks to the pool.

L’humidité excessive dans la chambre, je n’ai pas pu dormir (nous avons essayé de mettre le déshumidificateur puis la clim et inversement tout le séjour), le sol très glissant à l’intérieur dû à l’humidité, les draps avaient des taches un peu partout

Staff is amazing. Especially with children. Breakfast is good. It looks pretty good overall.

Some installations are a bit dated, and would benefit from being refreshed. It does not take away from the stay though!

The staff were very helpful and ordered us a taxi on the last morning. The villa was as appears in the photos and had a lovely outdoor pool area. Came with a kitchenette with cooking facilities, large fridge, microwave etc.. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here as a family and really enjoyed our time at Katala Suites and Villas. The staff arranged our rooms opposite each other, which made it very convenient for our family to stay close together — we really appreciated that. The rooms had everything we needed and were comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and responsive. We could ask any questions and always received useful answers and recommendations. Breakfast was enjoyable — we liked that there were fresh fruits every morning, and the option to choose from a menu was a nice touch. We left early one day for a fishing trip, and they prepared sandwiches for us to take away at 5 AM. That was very thoughtful and appreciated. The pool was also great. the beach is a bit far to walk, but it is still within walking distance. Overall, a very pleasant stay — mainly thanks to the amazing staff!
