Один из лучших и дорогих вариантов проживания в ЮАР. Сервис на высшем уровне. Брать хотя бы на 1 ночь однозначно стоит.
Loved absolutely everything about this very short stay. The staff are so willing to help with ANYTHING and their passion for their jobs and the farm shows in everything they do - every conversation, every request, every suggestion. Being on the farm was just so amazing - it was tranquil and refreshing for the soul. The mountain drive and unexpected picnic up there was incredible. The water buffalo tour was so interesting - and what a treat to feed a calf - and even suggest names. The spa was DIVINE. The actual treatment was hands down the best massage ever. And the amenities were just incredible. So much to do - so little time... felt like I was in a bubble - other worldly to say the least!
I didn't like that I only booked for one night... I should definitely have made an entire long weekend out of it to get the absolute most of the experience! I will be back!
Wonderful working farm property on amazing grounds. Winery on site and wonderful restaurants and fantastic food / wine and wonderful hosts ❤️
Nice place, quiet and calm.
The babel restaurant is quite overpriced
It was one of the many high lights. The food and presentation was outstanding.
I can not think of anything.
We visited Babylonstoren for the farm to fork experience. The menus mostly offer dishes and wine that incorporate produce grown on the farm. We joined one of many workshops to draw inspiration from the working garden. Babylonstoren is my favorite place to eat, drink and be one with nature.
Best place we have stayed in our lives!! We were celebrating our honeymoon here. Accommodation is so unique and cosy. They put hot water bottles and lit our fire in the evenings. Staff can’t do enough for you, food is 10/10 all fresh farm produce. Loved carnivore night. So many activities, highly recommend water buffalo tour and mountain drive. You defo need more than 1 night - so much to do!! We never wanted to leave.
Nothing
Architektur. Essen. Tiere. Spa. Tourmöglichkeiten. Personal.
I rarely write reviews, but Babylonstoren deserves an exception. This is, without question, the most beautiful place I have ever visited. Everything about this estate feels magical. From the moment you arrive, there is an atmosphere that is almost impossible to describe. The gardens, the architecture, the vineyards, the mountains, the peacefulness - every detail has been created with extraordinary care. What made the experience even more special were the people. Every single member of the staff was genuinely warm, welcoming and kind. Their hospitality felt effortless and sincere, making me feel at home from the very first minute. One of the absolute highlights was exploring the estate by bicycle. It is the perfect way to discover this incredible place at your own pace, stopping whenever something catches your eye - which happens constantly. And do yourself a favour: book the wine tasting. It is exceptional and completes the entire Babylonstoren experience. Some places are beautiful. Others stay with you forever. Babylonstoren has become one of those rare places that keeps calling me back.
Todo espectacular
Location and staff (mostly) were great.
Had the worst spa treatment, therapist was on her phone during treatment. We got gifted another massage which was the least they could do but still not impressed with service.
Fabulous 3 nights. The room was beautifully furnished, the gardens and lake are divine to spend time in. There’s a great spa / pool house which we had mostly to ourselves. The complementary wine and olive oil tours were a great way to unwind.
The property has an open bar for guests, but <100yards away, in the restaurant, they charge for the exact same wine from their vineyard. Felt off.
We loved our stay here, would've stayed longer if our plans aligned. Everything was absolutely perfect and beyond. The only recommendation I would make is to have more vegan friendly options in their menus. We are definitely coming back!
Lovely place
The slowness
Great cottage, super friendly staff, beautiful gardens. Better suited for families with children
Spa and pool were very busy with not enough sun loungers so guest left as they had nowhere to sit it relax. Very busy in the restaurants as they are not just for guests so overall it didn’t feel like a relaxing stay.
What a gorgeous property and the staff was truly amazing!
It was a lovely room but when it says a suite I expect the room to be larger and have a lot more space
Beautiful setting, great attention to detail, amazing accommodation and outstanding service
Eigenlijk alles.
Locatie, veel activiteiten, top kwaliteit!
Everything was perfect, must visit in South Africa
The entire Babylonstoren is breathtaking. We had dinner at The bakery - the food was outstanding and the singing excellent. Breakfast at Babel was also excellent. Service at both restaurants was excellent.
When arriving at the hotel it is not clearly marked where reception is. Parked and had to take my own luggage to the reception as there were no porters around to assist. The cottage bathroom only had a bath - the shower was outside. There is more than enough space for a shower inside? What happens in the middle of winter when it’s cold and raining? Also no table to put a toiletry and makeup bag on? The phone from the room didn’t work even though we told this to reception on arrival and they claimed they had fixed it. Once again leaving the hotel there was no one around to assist with luggage. I really feel your hotel staff need more training in customer service.
Wonderful breakfast buffet, great selection. would like to have one additional hot item offered like crepe or pancakes. Property was spectacular. Italian feast dinner was fabulous. Friendly helpful staff. Rooms had cracks in doors and windows that allowed spiders and bugs into rooms.
Wish there were screens on window and door
Heaven on Earth, simply amazing!
Stylvol en elke klein besonderheid is keurig aan gedink.
Ek kan nie iets sê waarvan ek nie gehou het nie.
Exceptional and unique
Amazing everything
The gardens are beautiful. The staff are super friendly. It is a well oiled machine that deals with constant day visitors and hotel guests 24/7.
It's the victim of its own success. The rooms are tired, and are in need of a make over (grouting/ painting) but they are probably so full that they don't have time to do them. The guest pool is small with not enough seats for all the guests at one time. It was probably once a great size but then they expanded and expanded the accommodation. We ended up sitting by the pool near the spa, which needed to be cleaned. It is very expensive to stay here. There are major roadworks at the main entrance which have been ongoing for 2 years and are nowhere near finished. If you don't time your journey accordingly you can be sitting there for 20 mins, this makes visiting other vineyards or leaving the estate very frustrating.
100% everything!

Leaving
The room was lovely and a nice size. The food and wine was also nice.
We were left severely disappointed by babylonstoren and this was for two reasons: the service and the facilities. The service was the most disappointing part of our stay, we could not believe how poor this was. When you stay at a 5 star hotel you expect 5 star hotel service; the service we received was barely 4 star service. When we arrived we weren’t given any Information about the hotel, we were given no tour and requests we made to book into activities were met with an awkward response. The host came into our room grabbed a copy of the hotel map (which already had marks on it from the previous guests in the room) and spent 30 seconds explaining where our room was. That was it. Simple things like the staff failed to smile at us when walked past and this made us feel really uneasy about the place… honestly almost all of the staff seemed like they were not happy in their roles - this was so clear to see. A smile goes so far and babylonstoren completely and utterly failed on smiling. I do need to add that there were 3-4 staff members who were very smiling and welcoming but the majority were not. When we checked out they just asked me to pay and didn’t even ask us how our stay was?! The second issue was the facilities. The pool water was consistently dirty, the sauna wasn’t on and when turned on it got to a maximum of 60 degrees, the jacuzzis were luke warm. Really simple things like service at the pool was non existent, the water fridge in the pool area was empty…. The spa itself is a real let down. It was built about 15 years ago and has not had a touch up since. We spent over £1k a night at babylonstoren and I am shocked how poor it was. We’ve stayed at some lovely 5 star hotels brands, the likes of six senses, four seasons, the Oberoi…. Even the newt which is a sister hotel to babylonstoren and this place falls woefully below its supposed peer group. What a shocking experience, please do not go unless price is <$400 p/night - trust me it’s not worth it.
Absolutely everything x
Location is amazing!
“Babylonstoren was in één woord geweldig. De accommodatie is prachtig en biedt enorm veel faciliteiten. De restaurants zijn van hoog niveau en de tuinen zijn werkelijk een sprookje. De service was top: warm, professioneel en ontzettend vriendelijk. Je komt hier echt niets tekort. Een absolute aanrader!”
Niets
One of the most incredible experiences of our lives! Our stay was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed every single activity the hotel offered—from bread-baking classes to the cellar tour, yoga and many others activities. Our room was amazing, it even had a heated bathroom floor! The variety of restaurants, with their incredible food and wine, was also a highlight. The hotel is gorgeous and the rooms are so cozy, but the highlight for us was the kindness of the entire Babylonstoren team. They were all so special and friendly. We are especially grateful for the thoughtful surprises they prepared for our honeymoon. We can't wait to come back! Fernanda and Filipe
Most atmospheric and authentic farm stay. Exceptional staff. Quality of food superb.
location
service room and terrace food
The spa is open to public and they don’t reserves any space for guests paying 50k per night so no guests get to use spa massages or treatments because it’s booked up a month in advance they need keep at least half spa spots for guests staying on property
Every single thing was thought of, to the smallest detail. Absolutely well kept with an unfathomable collection of plants. Just stunning
Nothing at all
Le buffet était exceptionnel tant par sa diversité que par sa qualité
Il manquait juste les scones 😇
Excellent breakfast - staff and service excellent
Everything exceeded our expectations
Delicious food and comfy bed
Excellent venue
What an amazing afternoon. We joined the oil tasting and learnt so much about olive oils and we even blended our own to take away! The grounds are beautiful and the food in the outside restaurant was delicious. We were blessed with a glorious sunny day too!
Our cottage was located in a very quiet area, and was very spacious and comfortable. The activities which we did (wine tour and olive tour) were well organised and fascinating. Staff were super friendly and helpful and every need was anticipated (Wellington boots for the rain, bicycles to cycle around and the golf cart to get to the main areas). The food was simple, fresh and very tasty.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.
Fantastic place, a lot activities, very professional staff, always ready to help.Tasty food at Babylon, but menu to small. We stayed 5 days and getting lunch and dinner on 4 different courses is not OK. Farm houses are build for a warm summer season. First house we stayed was just to cold. next day we moved to another house, which was much better. It was our third time, bit longer this time We enjoyed every day.
Amazing, cant wait to come back.
Fabulous accommodation and gardens. The garden tour was very interesting, we saw things that we’d never have discovered by ourselves. Gargantuan portions in the restaurant. We needed to leave early on the last day to get to the airport and we were given a packed breakfast which was a veritable feast. Only thing we would have preferred was not to have set menus. As a coeliac, I was very well catered for with gluten-free options
We got the two bedroom cottage - it’s like having your own house. All the complimentary tours the hotel offers are amazing. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The food is insane, fresh, delicious. There are three pools, incredible walks, chickens roaming around. Every day at 5 pm someone knocks on your door to offer you an amuse bouche and in the morning they re-stock your fresh fruit in the room from the orchard. We even had two days of rain and we had the best time.
Nothing. We can’t wait to come back. It’s by far our favorite hotel we’ve ever been to and we travel a lot.
Facility
Babel restaurant a disaster
What an amazing place. A farm and winery (with cellar we didn’t have time to see) dating back to the 17th century, producing its own vegetables and exotic fruits (available to purchase) set in absolutely magnificent gardens – I’ve not seen better in South Africa. It is set in the Franschhoek wine valley with it’s unsurpassed back-drop. The is a hotel and cottages dotted around set in the Dutch style. There is beautiful greenhouse housing all manner of plants and herbs (with Myna bird squawking away!) and 4 hee-hawing donkeys to greet you as you pass. Also a spice house that time constraints sadly forced us to miss. Lovely outside restaurant serving scrumptious fayre. Best check the website to savour the full picture - it will whet your appetite if I haven’t already! The gardens are the jewel however and they alone are worth the visit.
The staff were not just amazing but went over and above in ALL areas
Absolutely nothing
What an extraordinary experience - which could never be duplicated in Europe or the US (labor costs are too high!). However, for those on honeymoon or coming from a wilderness/safari experience, the huge crowds of day visitors are somewhat offputting despite the hotel's best efforts to give its guests some feeling of exclusivity (thank you Gavin for all your help!). We were most impressed by the number of activities available to hotel guests free of charge (including lavish wine and olive oil tastings, sundowners on the surrounding mountain, etc etc) and the generous free food and beverage offerings in the rooms. But we were surprised by some major design flaws in the rooms, given the owner was the editor of a major interior design magazine: dangerously slipperty bathroom floor, a safe at floor level requiring you practically to lie down to use it, no proper bedside tables or reading lights (instead, bright floorlaps), no sockets for electronics by the bed. This said, the sense of abundance, the attention to detail and the sheer beauty of the endless gardens and farmlands are amazing. The staff is invariably charming, helpful - and seem to genuinely enjoy working there.
We had a lovely room, very private despite the large size of the complex. Would recommend cycling and running around the gardens and vines - beautiful! Mountain drive is wonderful and our guide Kobus was very good. Water Buffalo trip was super interesting. Angie in the restaurant was lovely too. Rosco’s wine tasting - super entertaining. Overall staff were very good.
Breakfast spread was excellent but too crowded and chaotic. It took 30-40 mins each morning to get a coffee (crazy)!! They should have 2 breakfast sites and put on more baristas!
Stunning gardens, vineyards, mountains and farm and amazing enthusiastic staff
Nothing
Great very fresh farm produce
Estate flooded by day guests, ruins the ambiance Dinner at Babel extremely average No wipes in gym, unbelievable!
The property is perfection. Everything is perfect. Staff are all always friendly, helpful and welcoming.
Everything Stunning place Fab facilities Fab staff
Amazing property
Loved the Farm to Table concept. Beautiful gardens. Knowledgable staff.
The hotel is beautiful and the farm was gorgeous to walk/cycle around. Breakfast service to get a cup of tea was a little slow occasionally, one day waited 30 mins before we got the tea, then milk and then sugar. The food was all beautifully presented. We really enjoyed our stay but did not think it was good vfm.
A beautiful property that is a farm, vineyard and orchard. Everything we ate was delicious and the Carnivore dinner at the Old Bakery is a must. Do as many activities, that are included with your stay. Ask about their sister property that is a 18th century farm as well as the mountain pool. The farm/garden tour were very informative and the water buffalo outing is a must.
One of the most beautiful locations we've visited. Spectacular views, gorgeous room, incredible service. The food was divine. We will absolutely be back.
Everything
Fees for South Africans should be discounted
A lovely tranquil setting.. the wine tasting was lovely but very busy and not so personalised. Leroy was informative. Beautiful grounds and farm shop. Jesse on entrance duties was so lovely.. He informed us of an affiliated location called Newt in UK and helped us enjoy another part of our honeymoon..
The farm is a magical place and I've enjoyed every solo and friend trip there, from the food, to the staff, everything is great, my review however is on your amazing delivery service!! I placed my order via the app late yesterday afternoon, and my fresh goods are already delivered. I am so super impressed, from the tracking, to the communication texts, to knowing the timeframe of the delivery made things so much easier. The delivery guy, Grant, was friendly yet professional on the phone, and was very accommodating. Thank you so much and well done for making the customer experience as lovely as a farm visit!
