Beautiful hotel in the heart of Varenna! The location is excellent with cafes, restaurants and incredible lake views right on your door step! The staff are exceptionally accommodating and very hospitable. They went above and beyond to help us with transportation and make our stay super comfortable. The Visteria restaurant is a must-do experience- the food was some of the best we’ve eaten in Italy and the service is unparalleled. The breakfast is also well worth every penny. Not only is there a large variety of hot/cold food, they served an array of fresh fruit, the creamiest scrambled eggs, made fresh coffee/teas and it all tasted so divine! Our room was pristine clean with lots of little touches/amenities (eg. kettle with an array of tea and coffee, little biscuits gifted to us for free, champagne on the house etc.). We loved our stay and would highly recommend you experience Hotel Royal Victoria! It was luxurious!

I had a very disappointing experience with a waiter at the hotels grill restaurant. He was very rude and declined to serve us dessert because we had eaten our dinner elsewhere. The manager at reception intervened and successfully resolved the issue. Because of how rude the waiter was to us, she provided us with dessert on the house. Overall we loved our stay and this definitely should not influence your opinion to stay here - just be mindful.

Er was een privefeest in de bar en geen alternatief voor de gasten. Hadden wellicht in entreeruinte drinken kunnen bezorgen vanuit bar.

Les œufs du petit déjeuner sont payants ??? Sauf si œufs durs . Je n’ai jamais vu cela dans un 4 étoiles . Choix de thé très limité . J’ai demandé par 2 fois un thé vert que je n’ai jamais eu / thé basique type breakfast

Incredible staff at main desk - I think his name was Luca, he is a credit to the hotel. His female colleague with glasses was equally accommodating. The staff kindly left an anniversary message in the room for us which was a lovely touch. The facilities / hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in. The view at breakfast is incredible. The pool is amazing. Would easily be 10/10 if not for our small issue on arrival.

Unfortunately on arrival it appeared our bed had been led on as pillow / quilt were pressed in. Also we found a bracelet on it. The staff member who helped changed the pillowcase but it was very difficult to communicate & he made us feel like we were being difficult.

Excellent property in a great location. Outdoor pool area is lovely. Room was small but the bed was comfortable and the AC was cold.

The hotel is in an excellent location with beautiful views and pool that made our stay memorable. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and the complimentary water, treats, and champagne waiting in our room made us feel genuinely welcomed upon arrival. Breakfast was included and was a nice treat. The room service team was consistently attentive and efficient throughout our stay, and the overall property itself is beautiful and well maintained.

Unfortunately, our room was located on the first floor near the staircase leading to the restaurant, bar, and pool areas. Music from these areas could be clearly heard from the room, even while lying in bed. During our first two nights, the music woke us up around 5am, which was not the relaxing experience we expected during our honeymoon. We raised the issue with the hotel and requested a room change. While the staff instead offered a complimentary aperitivo and assured us the music issue would be addressed, the noise continued, with music still audible late into the night and beginning again around 7am. A room change would have been a much better solution. To add to the frustration, the complimentary aperitivo that was offered as compensation was mistakenly charged to our bill at checkout, requiring additional follow-up to have it removed. Overall, there were some wonderful aspects to our stay, but the noise issues and handling of the situation left us with a mixed impression.

Excellent service! Everyone that we dealt with was aiming to please and make our experience better. The views, you can't ask for better Lake Como views, from the morning, day, evening and night it hit. Food was also amazing from breakfast to dinner we never had a bad meal.

This is probably more of a me problem for not doing enough research on the area. The price and room size just didn't line up for me. Probably because it's a Como thing. The noise level, hearing people slamming doors or dragging furniture across the floor from the early morning until the wee hours of the night definitely put a sour note in my mouth, i love quiet when it comes to a higher tier hotel and I didn't get it here.

Excellent hotel! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is in a great position on the lake and the views are absolutely stunning! The food in all of the restaurants was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There were also some unexpected bonuses, such as a free bottle of prosecco in our room on arrival and free tickets to the botanic gardens at Villa Cipressi. We loved the hotel and Varenna so much we didn't want to leave! I highly recommend this hotel, thank you for such a lovely stay!

Our room was on the side of the building next to the church and the bells started at 7am every day. But apart from that everything was amazing

The breakfast offerings were excellent, with a wide variety of delicious choices, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations. Most importantly, the staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. Their warmth and hospitality made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A beautiful property in a spectacular setting. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Lake Como.

Was centrally located, clean, a wonderful swimming pool, breakfast was great and there is a free service to pick up and be dropped off at the train station by the hotel which was great as it was too far to walk with luggage. The view from the hotel over Lake Como was magnificent.

Drinks and food were far too expensive to buy from the hotel so we purchased from the nearby convenience store. Most staff were polite but others rude and short when asking questions about tours and help when booking in.

Location was fine, but unfortunately, nothing else was good. In fact, it was horrific.

1. Staff not customer service oriented. For example, the hotel shuttle, even when available, was refused to drive you to the ferry port or train station unless you were checking in or checking out. The weather was extremely cold, raining and windy. So, trips to the ferry port and train station which would be fine for walking to on a sunny day, were outright refused. We reported this incident to the Front Desk Manager and she appeared to be shocked by this kind of behavior and said this would never happen again and that she would speak to the staff. She offered us a comped dinner at the villa next door. 2. We also told the Front Desk Manager about what happened to us at the hotel's restaurant, The Victoria Grill. We had reservations the first night of our stay and when we walked in, we were totally ignored as they scurried around the restaurant, waiting on the people that were seated. After about 20 minutes of being ignored, they finally seated us without any apologies. Then we waited 30 minutes until they took our order. The food was tasteless and cold. When we asked for the check, the total amount included a 10% tip. We told them we had no intention of paying the tip and to give us our change. He came back without the change we requested. We told him again to bring us the correct change which eventually he did. 3. The next day we took the train to Milan andupon returning, called the hotel to request the shuttle. Again we were refused. 4. We had eaten in Milan so we weren't hungry for dinner but wanted something smaller. It was late and raining so we stopped in to The Victoria Grill. Big mistake. We asked for a table and because we weren't having a full dinner, we were told to leave the restaurant. This was the last straw for this hotel. I can't say anything nice about this hotel , but what I can say is don't stay at this hotel. Their guests aren't their number one priority. This isn't a 5 star hotel, far from it.

L'absence de décoration dans la chambre,des meubles (qui sont des copies d'ancien )datent des années 1960,pas de tapis, tableaux etc. Chambre triste. On paie la magnifique vue mais le rapport qualité prix n'est pas bon du tout. Parking à proximité très cher. Bref, c'est un attrape - touriste.

A beautiful, well appointed hotel in the perfect location. The grounds are lovely, and you get free entry into the gardens next door and can avoid the fee and a very long line of people to get in. Right on the lake with multiple restaurants and bars so you can enjoy the stunning view of the lake and the mountains. The room was thoughtfully equipped and comfortable (church was right outside our window so the bells were easily heard during the day). The best part of the hotel was the staff. Each and everyone went out of their way to ensure a memorable visit. The word ‘no’ did not seem to be in their vocabulary as they went out of their way to satisfy you, remember your name, and smile. We ate in three of their dining areas. Breakfast view was of the lake and a large buffet…everything you would want no matter what kind of breakfast you like. Lunch was in their cafe on the square…good, fresh food, including a great pizza. The highlight, however, was Restaurant Vistera, their fine dining and Michelin Guide recommended. Everything was extra special there, including the staff. Service was attentive, friendly, informative, but not overbearing. The food and multiple amuse bouche were works of art and imagination that also tasted fantastic. I hope to get back to this hotel someday!

Beautiful hotel, staff friendly, accomodating and so attentive. They really made the stay so special. Food was really good - we ate at the Grill twice. And Aziz made the best Daiquiris! Overall a great place in a beautiful location. Would definately stay there again.

It was windy when we stayed, so the shutters kept squeaking and banging against the wall which disrupted sleep. We alerted staff who sorted them out and our final few nights were fine.

The hotel was very nice. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The concierge was so helpful organising our private boat trip around the lake, it was fantastic. The room was very comfortable. The view from our room was absolutely beautiful, I could have sat on the balcony all day and just looked out! We loved the coffee maker, complimentary bottle of prosecco and biscuits. Everything we needed was there. The huge bed was very comfortable, and we could see the view from the bed. The shower was very good. Towels were lovely and soft. Toiletries very nice. The breakfast was lovely, everything you could possibly want. The restaurant was excellent, fantastic food.

There wasn't anywhere to put your own wash bag in the bathroom, a shelf or unit would have been better. Also some more hooks to hang the towels.

I bought the five days of the hotel . On the first day, they gave me a poor room. After discussing it with them, they changed it for me. The service attitude was still quite good.

We booked a room with a balcony and lake view, which was beautiful but charged at an incredible premium. There was a balcony with table and chairs, but the bannister for the balcony was so tall you wouldn't be able to see out if you sat there, making the outside space somewhat impractical. The other miss is that the door to the balcony was quite small, and on the same side of the room as the bed so the room didn't get a lot of natural light or benefit much from the view. — felt like a miss. We loved the free standing bathtub and location. Staff were friendly and we enjoyed dinner at the restaurant (though felt like pretty standard fare for what was available around the main square).

Le personnel du petit déjeuné. il y avait 2 ou 3 tables de libre pour la vue direct sur le lac, nous n'avons pas eu le droit de s'y mettre. j'ai demandé si on pouvait réserver une place, on m'a répondu NON. Pourquoi n'avons nous pas pu avoir ces places ? Sur les 3 nuits, on a pas pu prendre le petit déjeuné avec vu sur le lac !!! Sur la télé dans la chambre, qualité des chaines hyper mauvaises, en plus impossible d'utiliser l'entrée HDMI. Bruit important entendu de la chambre tout les soirs jusqu'à au moins 23h.

We had the absolute best stay at Hotel Royal Victoria. The view from the room was unbelievable and also had everything we needed, including a very comfy bed. Breakfast was great, with things replaced really quickly when they’d run out and a good choice of food options. The restaurant attached to the hotel was fab too, and we really enjoyed our meal there. The staff went above and beyond and we cannot thank them enough for their recommendations, sorting out transport and bookings etc when we needed it. Would 100% recommend and we will be back! Grazie

The hotel was in an amazing location, with stunning views overlooking the lake. If you can get a room with a lake view I would highly recommend. The staff were amazing I mentioned it was my birthday and they went above and beyond for me. Riccardo on the front desk was amazing.
