Beautiful hotel with so much charm! Location was superb! Staff were very pleasant and very accommodating. Would definitely recommend it!
Needed black out curtains in rooms.
It was a magical place where the staff made you feel special. The location was amazing and so beautiful! Loved the amenities, breakfast, garden, shuttle to and from the train and the views.
I could not think of one thing!
Beliggenheten og imøtekommende personell so gjorde sitt bestet.
Lite rom og bad, og få områder for gjestene. Gjennomtrekk av turister.
The location was amazing, service was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
There was a wedding on the last day of our stay and we were made feel not important anymore. For checkout we were aloud to leave from outside rather coming in to even wash hands.
Perfecte ligging. Parking nabij het hotel.
Relatief kleine kamer.
Loved the place
Highly recommend
Beautiful botanical gardens, its location and amazing views of the lake.
The location is breathtaking, the staff were very warm and welcoming. Service was quick .
The showers and rooms a little too small
The location alone is sensastional, and being able to access the gardens when they are closed and not so hectic is great. The staff were so kind and helpful. The griffo transport from the train station makes getting your luggage down much easier. Definately take the time to have a drink after the gardens close to the public on the terrace.
The hotel is a little dated on the inside including the rooms. THey're still completely serviceable but not a luxury stay in terms of the rooms themselves. Not a complaint but just so people are aware no food is served at the bar and theres no pool or immediate lake access for swimming.
Location & garden
It was a relentless visitor attraction - no private space outside for hotel customers Breakfast! What was this about - so weird location!
The famous gate that the historic property offers for beautiful photos. The staff were all very helpful, friendly and efficient (going out of their way for you in a heartbeat). Breakfast was lovely.
We really missed staying at a property with a pool.
Everything, it was stunning, great location and amazing stuff
Amazing hotel with spectacular views. Staff were soo friendly and welcoming especially Riccardo was so helpful and nice had explained everything for us. We’ve booked classic room but were upgraded to suite with beautiful view. Also were presented nice gifts during check out. Definitely one the best hotel we’ve been with great breakfast
Everything was amazing
What a beautiful property on Lake Como! The room was very comfortable and the staff at the hotel was awesome! They picked us up at the Train Station parking and helped with all our luggage. The botanical gardens were lovely to stroll through before dinner. We had a nice light dinner meal and cocktails with a view of the lake. The breakfast was included in our visit and it was amazing!
The entrance to town is one way and the parking can be difficult if you are in a large vehicle (we had a van). However, they will pick you up in a golf cart from the public parking and take you to the hotel, so you don't have to roll all your luggage through town.
Beautiful location. Great that it includes free access to the botanical garden, including outside of the working hours for other visitors. Friendly staff who try to be helpful. Warm welcome with treats and water.
Weddings or events with loud music in the backyard right below the window every night we stayed, which went on from late afternoon to 9pm. Slow communication - we tried to contact them by text and email to request transportation on two occasions, but didn’t hear back for approximately an hour so we ended up having to walk (they were apologetic about this, to be fair). Welcome gift was supposed to include a bottle of Prosecco, but there wasn’t one for us.
The most wonderful breakfast we have had. The cappuccino was out of this world!
The room size
The property is STUNNING! The view out of our window was breathtaking, we loved waking up to it every morning. We also got access to the gardens when no one else did which was incredibly peaceful. The staff is incredibly helpful, giving us lots of recommendations. The breakfast was DELICIOUS with so many options, and walking to it felt like a journey back in time. There was a wedding every night we were there, but they always had a live violinist so we left our windows open and it added so much joy and serenity to the stay. Me and my husband danced to the music in our room! So nice!
It would have been nice to have known I didn’t need to buy a ticket for the gardens since I already had due to Google saying I needed to, but that isn’t their fault!!
Lovely spacious room, with a good shower room. Everything we needed, plus some complimentary champagne and other treats. The view from the windows was amazing! The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good with lots of choices. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The views, the gardens and the access to these when no public were around is definitely the bonus!
Room very basic and old for the price with a very small window for the lake views.
The location and the gardens.
Given the cost per night, rooms are quite small and the overall facilities could do with a refurb. We didn’t feel the stay matched the cost. There is zero atmosphere throughout the hotel. We were told it was fully booked but the bar and restaurant area were empty in the evenings.
We reserved an expensive room with a full view of the lake and over the garden. The first day they had the garden partially closed for a wedding that had music so loud we had to move to another room that had only a small view of the lake and no charm at all. Not even window shades. The second day they again closed part of the garden for a wedding and the music was even louder. We got very little sleep and are very angry. They offered a 10% discount. I would like at least a 50% refund.
The property is in a beautiful location
When we arrived we were told that all the terraces were closed to guests for a wedding for the entire day. This is the only outdoor space in the hotel. We were very disappointed as this was the reason we booked and to be told there would be no access and that there were no terraces at all felt like a rip off as a visit to Lake Como is very much about relaxing and enjoying a beautiful atmosphere. Instead we had to go to town and sit in crowded areas to enjoy the views. We also felt that the rooms were not very nice given the status of the hotel. The wedding party was extremely loud until 11pm.
Amazing staff, gorgeous garden and view from the patio of the sea. Excellent breakfast. The staff was helpful and generous.
Very over priced. The room was the size of a closet.

Fascinating and beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay very much. The day when we booked there was some celebration with fireworks. It was fantastic.
Everything was perfect
Absolutely loaavved the property, location and the hospitality.
The property location was breathtaking, the customer service was impeccable, and we will definitely be back.
The bed was a little uncomfortable, hard
Beautiful property. A lot of places to sit and enjoy the lake. Friendly staff.
Had a wonderful stay. Beautiful view
Check in check out was not well organised
The villa itself, the garden, the view is exceptional.
They should close the hotel to the customers and just continue as an event venue. They should educate the staff regarding how to treat to the customers.

It was our 10th anniversary and we stayed at the hotel for two nights. During our stay the weather was rainy almost 24 hours. That is why it was nit possible to visit the garden with 2 kids during heavy rain. Our previously planned activities canceled because of the rain etc. Checkout day weather was perfect. So we checked out at check out time and leave the luggages at hotel and our car to turn back to hotel around 2.30pm. When we turned back around 4pm the hotel was closed for a private event. I wanted to use the toilet but couldnt. Still I cant believe that they didnt accept me and my 6 years old son even to the toilet! I ve never seen this kind of rude treatment in any hotel all around the world. The woman in the reception told me to use the toilet in the garage! For everything that you need they tell you that Hotel Victoria is their sister property but they tell you to use the toilet in carpark! I wanted to go to the garden and take a picture of the iconic Villa Cipressi door but they didnt allow me to go because they are closed for a private event. I wanted to talk with the manager he didnt come. So if you are paying for this hotel please be carefull. The hotel is nice but you may see this kind of behaviors and treatments. I am sure if they explain to the event owner that we are hotel customers and it is our 10 th year anniversary and we could nt manage to take a picture with the iconic door with our two young kids because of the weather conditions and we need 2-3 minutes in the garden, nobody rejects. I am so sad that we turned back to Dubai without having a picture. They made me cry with my white dress and holding my 6 years old son’s hand in front of the hotel and even coulnt use hotel s toilet! Also during our stay there were 2 events both nights till 11 pm and we even didnt ask them when this loud music will stop. ( Also we coulnt have a drink at the bar- cafe because they were closed because of the events whenever we tried to sit there!
We were two couples traveling together and we could not have been happier with our stay at the Hotel Cipressi. Upon arriving, we were told that there was a wedding and that we wouldn't be able to use the outside area, which I had read about in the reviews. I had, however, not worried too much about it as we were there starting on a Monday - thinking that weddings might not affect us as we weren't there on the weekend. There were two weddings during our stay. The woman at the front desk who checked us in told us that we would be able to use the facilities at the Royal Victoria or the Hotel Du Lac, both properties owned and operated by the same company. At first, we were a little put off, but then we realized that it was a quick and beautiful walk through the botanical gardens to the Royal Victoria, which we were able to access with the gate code given to us. It was perfect. We loved the beauty and quaintness of our hotel, and then we would walk over to the RV and enjoy its view, gardens, cocktail bar, and restaurant. It was the best of both worlds. We all agreed that we would not have changed a thing.
Great staff! Perfect views of the lake! Loved it
Staff and service were amazing. The property was beautiful too. Having said that, for the price point we encountered several issues that took away from enjoying our stay. In no particular order: 1. Noise: room was incredibly loud. We were on the corner of the building and could hear everything including conversations from the room next to us and street noise all night long. We really didn’t sleep for 2 nights. 2. Cleanliness: found broken glass on the floor of our room. Shows they didn’t clean that well. Having said that, we then proceeded to also break a wine glass though I think I did a better job of cleaning than they did. 3. Hair dryer: hair dryer wasn’t working. Once reported took about 30-60 minutes to get a new one … not totally unreasonable but when you’re trying to get ready for dinner the delay was enough to not be able do hair the way it was wanted. 4. Hot water: no hot water on our 2nd night at dinner time. Again, unable to get ready as we wanted to for dinner. Both evenings didn’t have great starts due to conditions of the hotel. 5. Bed: incredibly uncomfortable. Rock hard. Maybe some like that but not enjoyable at all. Could never get in a position that I was able to sleep more than an hour at a time (noise didn’t help either). Reported the issues the day before check out and was advised to talk with the manager. They weren’t available until the morning of checkout. Explained the above and they didn’t seem overly concerned. Very little compensation offered
Get the lake view. It’s worth it. The hotel maintained historic charm while adding crowd-pleasing updates to the bathroom. The breakfast was great and convenient with so many options. The staff was attentive and genuinely wanted to make sure we were enjoying our stay.
The staff, Villa, breakfast, location was excellent! It is an oasis in a high tourist area. Our weekend stay was memorable because of the expert care of the staff. Try the gourmet dinner at the sister property next door. Victoria at the Hotel Victoria.
the best location, best views, amazing staff
This was the best stay ever. Such a beautiful place and worth every penny. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. The view from my room of the lake was amazing. Thank you and I hope to stay again one day.
not much
i asked to change the room with a better view, they told me 150 euros more, the hotel was already pricy , so i declined. worse hotel on my trip.
Everything was very nice. I will come back. I just need to know about the refund? They charged me 230 dollars extra. Please refund it as soon as possible to my card. Thank you.
Our stay at Hotel Villa Cipressi in Varenna was unforgettable! The service was exceptional, with staff who were always attentive and welcoming. The location is simply stunning — the views of Lake Como from the hotel and its beautiful botanical garden are breathtaking. Breakfast was top notch, offering a delicious and varied selection each morning. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a special experience on Lake Como
This is an unbelievable hotel in an amazing location. The staff, the rooms and the scenery are exceptional. If I could rate more than 10 stars I would!! On arrival, the reception staff and the gentleman who assisted us with the bags is very welcoming and can not do enough to make sure our stay was special. We will definitely be back!
It is a beautiful property. The staff are incredibly attentive and friendly. Highly recommend staying here!
This was a beautiful hotel with beautiful gardens. Having both hotels available for us, was amazing. Varenna is such a beautiful town and this hotel makes it even better. But the VIEWSSS :)
I liked the room with the balcony overlooking the lake. We were in the Bellagio Junior Suite. While the writeup warned of weddings, it was unreasonable to anticipate 4 weddings over our six day stay. The porter, whose name I forget, deserves special commendation. He was everywhere doing everything. Hard working friendly, he is an asset as he makes all the moving parts of the stay work smoothly. The breakfast staff also deserves honorable mention.
Being denied access to portions of the facilities due to weddings. This ruined what would have been an exceptional vacation. If I ever return, I would almost certainly book the sister property of the Royal Hotel Victoria.
The R management team has turned this into a wedding venue that blasts music until midnight. Impossible to sleep until the disco inferno stops. Hotel rooms should come with a warning. Such a shame that R management would sell out for a few dollars rather than operate an iconic property. I'll never stay at any of their properties again
Nice room but a bit small
Perfect location- very good breakfast!

Beautiful view, great location
The property has a wedding daily which results in the closing of the restaurant and bar for dinner
The service was top notch here. They have convenient shuttles to and from the train station and ferry dock. They will help book dinner reservations and other taxis as needed. Free delicious breakfast and access to the gardens unless there's an event. However, our room did have significant spiders and webs so the rooms do not appear to be deep cleaned often. We spent an hour of our first night catching spiders. Not sure if it is worth the price with that in mind.
Try to be polite and helpful
