Lovely hotel sea view rooms the best
Swimming pool to go outside to get to it and ran out of hot water for the shower
Really helpful friendly staff particularly the waitresses in the breakfast room. Lovely pool and gardens.
Room on ground floor with next door's very precious car parked in front of our window instead of in car park. Limited choice in Restaurant menu.
Fabulous location with beautiful gardens. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Our room wasnt very clean. The plastic on the bath screen had disintegrated allow mould to grow and strains down the inside of the bathroom door. Hotel needed a good painting. In my father's room the armchair was broken with the wood plinth showing and the mattress had sunken meaning the edge of the mattress had the beading prominent making it uncomfortable.
nice grounds
floors in communal areas were covered with dog hair traffic noise from road building and decor were tired and in need of refreshment
Very nice big room and the balcony was lovely to
The room and food.
Great location and reception staff very helpful at dealing with problems, once we reported them
No hot water. When we reported it we were told the boiler was broken and would not be fixed for a week. Immersion being used but inadequate. Told by the maintenance guy, politely, that we could use the swimming pool shower. Receptionist however did manage to find an alternative room for our final night stay. Decor tired and in need of an update at this price point but clean and functional. Breakfast staff were overwhelmed buy the number of guests wanting to eat
On a convenient bus route into town. Walking distance to rail station. The hotel grounds are extensive and beautiful, with gate access to the sea front. Restaurant and bar staff were good.
Noisy room overlooked the bins. The bathroom needed work - leaky unpleasant shower screen, dusty skirting boards. We asked for the room to be made up, the bins were emptied and clean cups with more tea etc was left, but the bed wasn't made, and the towels were left as found.
A very lovely stay for few days , we couldnt fault anything .Staff were amazing .There was some visually impared guests staying and the staff went out of their way to make peoples stay very enjoyable
Excellent location and views friendly helpful staff and a good breakfast
The hotel is set in beautiful gardens that lead through a secure gate to the beach. The location is handy to reach many areas ie TorquayDawlish and Paignton.
The hotel is a bit dated, the breakfast is very busy at 9 but if you go down earlier not so bad, there is a problem if you require fried or poached eggs and cause a hold up by breakfast area, scrambled eggs are available at all times
Club Family room was great. Really big room with Balcony. Buffet Breakfast fine.
Buffet Breakfast could have been topped up quicker.Lunch and especially Evening Meal options were limited and ended up eating out most days
Location , Gardens , swimming pool , dog friendly , friendly staff .
Not enough plug sockets in room to charge phones room 11 . Paint work tired on doors and door frames. Long walk to front door with dog . No fridge in room , had to bring my own mini fridge . Menu could be more imaginative green leaves no colour (rabbit food )no dressing on salad . GF menu poor .
Close to amenities
Restaurant staff didn’t ask if we needed anything after giving us our food. ie sauces etc and at breakfast you have to catch staff if you wanted a different egg other than scrambled. Our duvet wasn’t put into cover just shoved inside and mattress cover wasn’t put on bed properly so before going to bed we had to make the bed ourselves.
All staff always helpful friendly and polite. We love that car can be parked safely and just a short walk down the garden and you are at the sea front.
Breakfast very short staffed and chaos. Needs more organisation. 1 girl cannot welcome, clear tables, tske orders eg poached egg and keep food and drinks and cups etc stocked up and get blind people's food. Housekeeping very disappointing. Only 3 days out of 7 were teabags topped up. Only 2 days were biscuits left. Bed was only made once.
The breakfast was very good with good quality and hot food. The room was spacious with a balcony and a fine view of the garden and sea.
Poor quality service and food in the restaurant. No rails in the shower.
I wanted to revisit this hotel as I loved it when staying with family a few years ago. However this tine I booked at short notice and was really disappointed with my room. The view of 20+ dustbins was utterly depressing I did ask at reception if a different perhaps garden view room like I had before was available - i was willing to pay for any upgrade but apparently hotel was fully booked. On the plus side the grounds are incredible. I enjoyed sitting outside in the evening and a morning walk. Theres a short cut to seafront via gate. Super. Lovely glass of wine from bar. I had toast and fruit for breakfast but hot food available. No problems with staff. Nice well run hotel. I didnt use the pool but might another time. Teignmouth is lovely worth visiting. Hotel is near walks, beach, town and railway station.
I honestly wouldnt have booked if I'd known I would have a view of bins.I felt annoyed that no trouble was taken for guests on that side of hotel. A trellis some potted trees could have made a difference . Also in the room a long large mirror would have reflected sky and distant trees to create it less claustrophobic and depressing. I should stress to be fair that the room was large, clean and comfortable. Another person may not have minded the view. I would stay again but only a premium room.
The staff were really helpful and extremely efficient, the building was clean and the garden is really good
Although the room was serviced every day beds were never made which I found a bit strange
Location , grounds and parking
No bedside sockets or usb , bar and restaurant area could use some colour and plants etc as very cold and unwelcoming feel.
Great location , short walk in to town and beach and beautiful garden :-) the staff are outstanding can’t do enough for you and are clearly under pressure ,very short staffed unfortunately .Patrick was absolutely fantastic considering he hasn’t been there Long ,so thank you Patrick, for all what you did and your patience is incredible .food was ok we did bed and breakfast and dinner and felt it was good value for money room 120 is lovely nice little balcony and was clean so I really can’t complain much about this hotel .but I also can see there is in need of improvement in all areas , this could be a delightful charming hotel .
Wasn’t always a full menu for the evening,no water in the room bit dusty in areas .
Had grounds overlooking the sea, was dog friendly and was very reasonable
Nothing I didn’t like about the place but could possibly get air conditioning fitted in the future due to ongoing hot summers
Great location. Friendly staff.
Restaurant food was very disappointing. Soup on first night very tasty but then told none available next two evenings! Poor menu choice and at 6pm items no longer available.
Friendly and helpful staff, facilities in room very good
The staff were really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were large and comfortable.
The noise from the road.
Breakfast was very good and location was excellent
Red sand at the beach
Location; friendly staff.
Everything suited us for our stay.
Dinner was good ,Sunday breakfast bacon dry .
The room was hot. Water in shower either scalding hot or freezing cold. Dirty around bath taps flooring in bathroom peeling from edges and bunched.
The food and service from the waitress was good. Close to our location. Parking was good
Reception staff were ok at first then became unhelpful when asked about problems. Room 215 was far too hot bathroom even hotter. Flooring in bathroom bunched up making it a tripping hazard. Temperature of water in shower uncontrollable either scalding hot or freezing cold. No guest book so no explanation as the hotel guide line. In room 207 No wash soap in holders had to request this. Late at night and no fan and stained towels. All replaced 10.30 at night. Stains on sheets . Dirty cups .
Buffet breakfast was excellent, continental, toast, jams, cooked sausages, bacon, beans, tomatoes, hash browns, and although the only style of eggs was scrambled, the staff would cook fried or poached eggs for you and deliver them to your table. Location excellent for the town centre and beaches. Even though I have to use a walking stick, the walk was no problem. Parking at the hotel no problem. View from my room was an excellent sea view and also view of the hotel's huge private park land, which is excellent for long walks. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
Location and gardens good Breakfast good and staff excellent Very disappointed with cleanliness in bedroom and general state of the hotel
Bedroom deep clean needed Unmentionable marks and stains in bathroom
A bad experience. The toilet was blocked, and the room was neither cleaned nor tidied. The breakfast was basic, cold, and very expensive for what was offered.
Perfect location
Facilities good
The hotel as always was cleN and friendly x
The kitchens were not operating.very little choice. Portion of veg was ridiculously snall. Last visit there were problems as well. Cottage pie was delicious though, but how can you run out of pasta? Go to lidls and buy ingredients, its just up the road x
The staff were very friendly.
I can't think of anything that stood out.
Well located next to sea and town tasty breakfast with good variety beautiful peaceful grounds modern swimming pool very clean and comfortable rooms helpful approachable staff
Bath was a bit high to climb into to use shower
Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were absolutely amazing. Facilities are great and the location is very handy close to the sea side.
If there is one thing that can be improved is the water pressure which has been a bit low.
The location was perfect for the town and beach set in lovely grounds. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was very good and plentiful but there was a limited choice on the dinner menu and the quality was average.
Nothing.
The setting and grounds
Very bland room 4 white walls no chairs in room to sit on no pictures etc on walls no menu etc for food .Paint peeling of window frames on the outside.I knoq it was a dog friendly room but to be honest weve had better at Travelodges only saving grace was breakfast and secure dog run
Lovely grounds and breakfast room.went right out onto the garden - open doors and fresh air or can eat on tables outside with Seaview.
Breakfast quite basic but fine for a day - a few more choices for vegetarian on cooked choices and plain yoghurt be nice.
The location is good. .room size was also nice
Poor service over breakfast. The shower in room 212 is a joke .. Some areas need a good clean
The gardens
Having no hot water during our stay. And not being informed on our arrival there was a problem with the boiler
Loved the location and ease of staying with Dog and child. Pool area looked nice and clean. Breakfast was good. Staff pretty friendly.
The bathroom was pretty poor, needed completely renovating. Had a hole in the floor as you walked in. Pillows were not very good. No hairdryer in the rooms. Lack of side table for all beds. The pond outside was left empty/tired which was a shame.
Very good location good food and comfort bed
Room was too hot and water temp was hit and miss
As usual we were welcomed in a friendly manner and given all the information required to book in. The room was comfortable and clean, the breakfasts good and the facilities relaxing
The restaurant wasn't open for our first night after a long journey. They seemed short staffed and under pressure for the time we were there. There was no soap in the bathroom dispensers which they rectified when we pointed it out. However, we obtained the services we needed with little trouble
A nice location, a short walk to the beach and the town centre just a little further. Room was big, clean and had everything we needed. Nice balcony
Shower needs updating, water doesn’t come out very well.
Excellent location & facilities
Very friendly accommodating staff. Very clean and fresh.
Sadly the lift was broken.
Another lovely stay. Perfect location for Teignmouth, Shaldon, Dawlish and Torquay. Friendly staff- home from home
Nothing to dislike
This is a well priced hotel. It is a lovely looking hotel set in elegant grounds. Room was comfortable and clean
I would say the breakfast needs a serious upgrade. It smacked of breakfasts from the 1970s.
Hotel was lovely and location
Bed was lumpy and dinners not very good Also system for getting eggs at breakfast failed.
Excellent location and beautiful grounds.
Highly inaccurate room description. We did not have what we paid for as per the images on the website *Buyer beware!* Receptionist on arrival was unhelpful regarding this. Duty Manager following morning was completely uninterested and dismissed our concerns and unhappiness. Room was wholly inadequate. Twin beds pushed together (not a double).Clinical bathroom. Sheets were stained and dirty. Will not be staying again and do not recommend. Extremely dissapointed.
We loved the room, was big, clean and ideal for our 2+2 family. The location is amazing and so handy with walks into the town but also to go for car trips to see more places. Breakfast was good. I am not fond of typical English breakfast and would like maybe to get a little bit more fresh veggies or bread and cheese ;)
I loved everything!
Nice grounds & good location
Not really as advertised - part of the hotel looks lovely but a strange, small, very dirty room that I’m not even sure was cleaned up a disgusting service elevator was disappointing after spending a lot of money and being excited for the stay.
The location and gardens
The checking in process. The hotel did not have a record of one of the rooms we had booked (and paid for) using Vio and did not have a single room available. We had to book and pay for a more expensive room and are still awaiting a refund
The staff were so kind and lovely.
Staff were excellent hotel was like home from home
Nothing
Location quiet but close to beach, town & railway station.

Excellent location
I’ve resisted your requests until now but as you insist. The bar was poorly stocked. When I asked for an espresso there was no cup suitable available; when I asked for a glass of wine on another occasion there were no wine glasses available so I had it in a tumbler. When we asked to have the room made up on the second day of our stay (we hadn’t asked before to minimise towel laundering) we were provided with 2 face towels but only one bath towel. The water glasses and an empty coke glass weren’t taken away. I wouldn’t normally fill in a negative review but you kept asking. A redeeming thing was the helpful night porter (I think his name was Chris ) who sorted me out a coffee ,when the bar was unattended ,with good humour
The swimming pool
Rooms provided were incorrectly configured. Staff made an effort to provide replacement rooms which was ok but not brilliant. Rooms were not adequately ventilated to cope with the heat. Didn't like seeing dogs in the restaurant!
The room was very large, the hallway was amazing. Staff was very friendly and the pool had the most amazing showers!
It’s always very sad to see ‘fading grandness’ . There’s so much potential that isn’t used, so much simple improvement to make it splendid…. But that’s the same for the town; their grand pier is falling apart….
Was all ok thanks
Nothing
The gardens
Lack of staff
Very Comfortable Friendly Staff Helpful Supportive and made sure we had 2 Fans as the Room was very hot
Bar Closed Early, No Air conditioning No Socket for my side of the bed
The staff were really nice and friendly and the food was very good. The gardens are lovely to walk through to the gated entrance to the beach.
I asked for a room with a view of the gardens or the sea, but we were at the back of the hotel with a view of the bins? The room was very small and cramped and very hot. We had to have the window open as far as it could be opened, but we were kept awake by the traffic from the busy road. It put a dampner our 25th anniversary break.
Restaurants food and drink. Indoor pool. Grounds. Staff friendly
Room a little more cramped than expected as paid for a Club Room. Lack of available up to date information re local taxis.4
Excellent location and good breakfast
The lift wasn't working.
The hotel is fantastic but they seemed short staffed. Breakfast was tasty but hit and miss.
Old victorian style
Lift out of order
Alles was redelijk basic.
Everything was as we expected, the breakfast room was clean with plenty of food
Dogs in restaurant and our room did have a smell of dog
Location and outlook
Room like a sauna next to Road so couldn’t have widows open because of noise. No soap in bathroom. Seemed very basic
Breakfast was okay. Staff very friendly. Beautiful garden.
Pillows very filmsy
Breakfast was good, room was comfortable.
The grounds looked sad and needed attention.
It’s like home from home. Lovely hotel set in 7 acres of beautiful garden with views out over the sea. Staff very friendly and helpful. Have visited many times before and will be returning again soon.
Nothing to dislike
I had breakfast at the hotel during my stay and in the evening dined in the restaurant. T he food was of a good standard. And on my last day in the afternoon, I had a cream tea, again very good. The location was ideal, so near the railway station and enjoyed walking in the grounds of the hotel.
Breakfast, room and location were all very good.
Lift was out of action
Staff always polite and friendly,Can park the car (free) .Close to the town and buses ,.
No bar meals, and miss evening Entertainment.
Staff were lovely fantastic breakfast lovely setting and views amazing bus stops just outside with a good bus service
Hotel rooms very tired in need of decoration and repairs only one lift which was out of order as a 73 year old i found the 39 steps up to my room very strenuous although the staff were very polite and helpful more often than not reception was unmaned what did frustrate me more than anything on our last night we decided to book a table at the hotel at 8.00pm because of a very nice a la carte menu posted on their web site after 3 pints of cider and a lovely view of the eclipse we got shown to our table and given a menu that was not even close to the one on the website there was nothing on the menu we wanted it seemed to me all they was offering was the d b b menu when we asked the waiteress we got told itz the only menu available and we change it daily so getting a taxi down to town we finished up with fish chips at finn mcolls which were amazing there was a pool room with a large rip in the cloth o
Location
Needs an update, curtains don't pull in bedroom
Lovely hotel set in stunning grounds, an easy walk through the gardens with direct access to the beach.. Good buffet style breakfast frequently replenished by efficient staff. Easy check-in, parking a bonus, would definitely return.
The staff was lovely… and great location
The room wasn’t that cleaned
Fantastic setting beautiful grounds and 5 minutes to the beach and town staff where great toiletries was nice dove Car parking was included Good poached eggs (need to order)
There was water in the reception room but the glasses were dirty cups in the dining room was dirty drinks was expensive milk in the drink machine was off another guest complained and the waitress took it away and cleaned it not enough cutlery on the table tea spoons were short supply. I think the staff worked hard but felt they were understaffed Coffee was weak and not a great taste. Room was OK except the water pressure was very weak in the very small shower and didn't drain the water away
Perfect location, so much ground and right in the centre or town. We picked this as we have a dog, didnt realise this is basically a dog hotel that allows people to stay as well. Incredible and we will be coming back here.
Beds were not the comfiest, will bring own pillows next time.
The rooms were spacious enough. The pool was great 👍
The hotel was too hilly for us. The rooms were backwards , family rooms with disabled hand rails ? But not in the single rooms for adults who need them.
Stunning property and location. Lovely to have a pool. Comfortable room. Walking distance to beach
Often no one in reception - staff could be more customer focused. Groundsman could be friendlier. We were there during a heatwave and water dispensers in sitting area were often empty. Run out of things at breakfast.
Bins being collected very early outside my room
Comfortable bed. Lovely location. Gardens nice.
Lifts not working. No offer of help with cases. Floor of bathroom very dirty & toilet was stained. Restaurant busy at breakfast. Only 2 staff in restaurant. Had to clear dirty dishes to one side myself to sit down at a table. Had to ask for cups & glasses to make coffee & serve orange juice. No small plates available.
Lovely hotel and gardens plus nice to sit outside in there patio area in the day and evening. Very helpful staff inside and the gardening staff . Nice walk in the gardens to get to the beach and nice walk along the beach and in there town plus to catch a ferry to SHaldon nice place to visit
Just a pity that the lift was broken as we was on the second floor
The location is perfect for walking down into Teignmouth town and onto the beach. The swimming pool is amazing and the gardens are beautiful.
Large property in lovely location with sea view at the end of the vast gardens. The gardens were beautiful, although grassy areas were parched due to the recent heatwaves. A 10 minute walk takes you through the gardens and along the street down to the long sand and pebble beach. The grounds and the swimming pool add greatly to the attraction of the property. The rooms were quite basic and a little dated but comfortable. The breakfast was quite good with a fair amount of choice. The evening meal was fairly priced and good enough. The staff, who were clearly overworked on a busy evening, were friendly and doing their very best.
The views from our windows were not good. We had booked two rooms and one looked out onto nearby walls, the other looked out onto part wall, part vegetation. Also, the view for two of our four people party at the table at which we were seated for the evening meal was horrible. Two of us looked out into the restaurant and could see a little of the view outside, but the other two looked out at a radiator or wall with chipped paint. Some pictures would have brightened the view. It was a pity as the there were some tables that looked out onto the beautiful gardens with sea in the distance, but they were all for only two people.
Breakfast was good with various options
We visit the Cliffden at least once every year usually during the colder months of the year. We went in July this year & the bedroom was very hot, but 2 large fans helped cool it down. The food was good & staff very cheerful & helpful as my son is totally blind.
The heat in the bedroom.
The grounds and conservatory
Overall could have been cleaner, lots of dust on skirting boards and under furniture. The bed, toilet and bath were clean so no problem with those
