Azure Hotel and Art Studio

Our group of 10 — including my wife and several couples — stayed two nights at The Azure Hotel & Art Studio in Simpson Bay after a cruise, and it was the perfect way to end a wonderful trip before our return flights home. From the very beginning, the experience was seamless. Every pre-arrival email was answered promptly and thoroughly, and that same responsiveness continued throughout our stay — any question or issue was handled quickly and without fuss. It's a small thing that makes a big difference, especially when coordinating logistics for a group our size. The hotel itself is everything a boutique property should be: beautifully situated right on one of Sint Maarten's most peaceful and uncrowded beaches, yet within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, nightlife and water sports. The setting is genuinely stunning — we watched sunsets from the patio that none of us will forget anytime soon. The rooms were spotless, clean and well appointed, and the beds were genuinely among the most comfortable I've slept in — better than my own at home, which is saying something! All of this at a very reasonable price point that makes The Azure exceptional value. One practical note for light sleepers: the hotel is conveniently close to the airport, which is a real bonus for early departures — but worth knowing that you may hear some flight activity during the day. That said, there are no flights after around 9pm or before 8am, so a good night's sleep is never an issue. But what really sets The Azure apart is Mike. Having owned and operated this property for 20+ years, his knowledge of Sint Maarten and surrounding islands is invaluable. His restaurant recommendations were spot-on, his snorkeling tips took us to spots we never would have found on our own, and his insider advice throughout our stay was the kind you simply can't get from a guidebook or a Google search. The moment that cemented our 5-star review: at the end of our stay, our pre-arranged taxi company fell through at the last minute — a stressful situation when you have a group of 10 trying to make return flights. Mike immediately stepped in, called one of his trusted operators, and had a taxi at the door within 10 minutes. No drama, no panic — just a hotel owner who genuinely cares about his guests. Great place to stay! Beautiful beach and amazing water! Pricing was great. Units are clean. Some units are newer than others, but all had what was needed and provide a comfortable plane to vacation stress free. Some of the best snorkeling experienced on our cruise was had within 100 yards of our door here at the Azure hotel. Private beach chairs and umbrellas were perfect!

We stayed only one night at Azure. The location and reasonable price drew us here. The owner, Mike was on site at all times. He was very friendly, thoughtful and accommodating. Even though we arrived before the check-in time, Mike allowed us to put our luggage in the room and gave us beach towels to use while our room was being cleaned. He even pre-arranged a taxi to bring us to the airport the following day. Our room, #2, was small and definitely needed updating. However, we felt it had “old Caribbean” charm. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had adequate kitchen appliances and cookware. A small grocery store was a 5-minute walk away. There was an outdoor courtyard that housed 15 tortoises! We did not have an ocean view, but the beach was a 30-second walk away. Other rooms are somewhat newer and do have an ocean/beach view. Azure provided beach lounge chairs and umbrellas. We enjoyed our short time at this unique property.

This is a basic hotel, which is typical of the Islands. Somewhat simple and to the point. The location couldn’t be better for beach lovers. It is sat right there, water lapping against the sand all night long. Very therapeutic and relaxing. Close to the airport, with a few handy restaurants, a short walk in both directions along the beach. All aspects of the hotel were very clean and Mike, the host came across very helpful and polite. The bed was very comfortable, adorned with good quality bedding. All in all did well !!!

Friendly owners. Ready to help you in any way possible. The location is on the beach in a quiet part of the Simpson Bay area, but near to all the restaurants, shops and entertainment. Good prices for a stay at a great location!

This place is absolutely awesome. The hosts are great and available at any time. They provide everything that you could need and there is a small store at the end of the street to get the extras that you want. I’ve stayed down the street at Mary’s Boon multiple times but couldn’t get a room when I wanted to go so I decided to give this place a try. I will definitely go back! We could not have been happier.

Had an AMAZING experience at the Azure Hotel. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in November. Absolutely unbeatable location on Simpson Bay - and so many terrific restaurants and bars within a 5-10 minute walk! Mike and Fawnette were amazing hosts - and treated us like extended family instead of hotel guests. Will definitely come back to visit them in the future!

Stopped over on our way to Anguilla. Location is perfect. Literally, within 15 minutes of our plane landing we were on the beach. Hotel has great character and room was clean. Perfect access to the ocean-front beach, and walking distance other restaurants. Price is a very good bargain. Beautiful views. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate us after we had an unexpected emergency. Very grateful to his kindness and help, who dropped everything to help us. Would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone.

We had a great week here. The beach is very nice, and less than one minute walk from any room. No worries of sargassum here due south facing direction of the bay. Wave were by and large mild while we were here, again due to prevailing winds and beach location. Mike and Fawnette were great hosts, friendly and helpful. Our room, was plenty big enough and the king size bed was very comfortable. The a/c was excellent and housekeeping done daily. The accommodations are nothing fancy, pretty basic actually. If your like us, spending your day on the beach and in the ocean, this is a very functional economical choice. No fighting for chairs, umbrellas, there are enough for everyone staying here. We met two other couples who come here multiple times per year. We rented a car, next time we may not. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. We made a trip to carrefour for groceries the1st morning, we were set for the week. We have been to a fair number of places in the Caribbean, we definitely plan to come back here again. Tip. Condiments, coffee, paper towels are to be brought with you or purchased when you get here.

Ideal for walking out of your room and straight to the beach to go swimming in clear, calm water. Absolutely loved this place and the couple who own the hotel are very sweet.

We loved the days we spent at The Azure Hotel. The owner, Mike is friendly and welcoming! The room was clean and well cared for, not to mention, right on the beach! Parking can be a challenge, especially on the weekend, and the room is a little small. But for the value, having access to the beach is worth it. It’s not like you’re going to spend a lot of time in the room anyway. Overall, we would totally come back.

Mike and his lovely family are very welcoming. They are quick to help with anything you need. Housekeeping has done a great job too! We wanted a small, clean, and comfy place to stay while celebrating our daughter's 5th birthday, and we found it! A bonus for the kids,...it is right on the beach. Everyone loves it here. Located right on the beach, clean, easily can walk to food options. A mini mart is 100 yards down Roberts Rd. Can walk to main road with lots of food options: recommend Dannisa, Pizza and Co, McDonalds. Many other options also around at all price ranges. Hotel owners have pets - small dogs, 2 cats, and several rescue tortoises. All friendly. The area is truly beautiful. The water is clear. You can snorkel, swim, or just chill out. Several other places to stay are also nearby so kids can make friends with other kids with no effort. Our stay was wonderful.

Lovely little place. Perhaps more a guest house than a hotel, but it met our needs perfectly for a 2-night stay in transit through St Maarten - clean, comfortable, with fridge, cooker etc., 5 minutes from the airport, walking distance to several shops and lots of restaurants, and literally right on the beach. We will be back next time we need to stop over in St Maarten

This was our first trip to Saint Maarten and enjoyed every second at Azure! The hotel is small, quaint and quiet and right on the beach! It was the most relaxing and perfect vacation. Mike and his wife were wonderful and gracious hosts! We traveled all around the island and felt thankful we chose to stay at Azure! There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and Mike provided wonderful recommendations! We will definitely be visiting again soon!

This was our second stay at Azure. We appreciate all the little things and they think of everything to make your stay an enjoyable one. The location is perfect and literally a few steps to Simpson Bay Beach right out the front door. The staff is so accommodating and very helpful. You can tell they love working there and are more like family. We missed Mike & Fawnette this time but we will see them again one day. They need to know what a terrific staff they have!

No glitz straight beach is how I can describe my stay. Amazing location, clean rooms, pharmacy not too far, and restaurants at walking distance. The owner Mike lives on the property so if you need anything just ask. The only thing that I think my room was missing was a few usb charging ports and an iron. If you’re tired, you’re mind is always running, and you just need a place to relax, this is definitely the hotel for you. Will recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Our stay was 1 week starting 5/27/25. Mike was so charming and friendly. Many recommendations for restaurants and taxis. Our suite was very nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was nice, made breakfast several times during our stay. Lounge chairs, umbrellas and towels provided. Beach was private and secluded. Very peaceful and relaxing. A lovely experience and pleasant stay. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Sint Maarten.

My room was on the ground floor, right on the beach — I could hear the sound of the ocean all night. It was peaceful and incredibly relaxing, like falling asleep in a private paradise.

Great stay with very very nice host

Azure was the perfect place to kick off our St Martin and Anguilla vacation. We stayed 3 nights in the Beach Suite and had such a good time! The bed was super comfortable, the AC worked great, water pressure was great, and the beach is just steps away. Most of all, Michael and his family are wonderful hosts and make the place feel like home!

This guest house is the perfect bohemian get away. It was very clean, ocean front, like 10 steps out the door to your beach chair. Great landscaping for privacy between units. Owner was super helpful, informative and responsive. Would love to stay here again.

We feel very lucky to have found the Azure hotel and art studio. It was by far THE MOST relaxing vacation we have ever had. Our room was beautiful and taken care of SO WELL by the ladies in housekeeping. Fawnette, Mike, and Sky are the most friendly hosts. We are already counting down the days until our return.

I have traveled extensively to some of the finest hotels around the world. Relais & Chateau, Ritz, Mandarin ect. This small quaint hotel grabs your heart as soon as you pull up and see a stunning courtyard with tortoise sanctuary. The beach is beautiful right from the first moments on arrival. The owners that live onsite and are extremely helpfull for any request. I found out the're artist and its no surprise that this is an artist dream that is shared. Its not an expansive resort but for me its good to get away from the hustle. Casinos are nearby if you need that.. We'll definitely be back to this piece of nirvana.

Love our recent one-week stay at Azure in the Garden suite. It was great to walk just a few steps and be at the beach with chairs and umbrellas! Room had everything we needed and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Greta did a wonderful job cleaning the room each day. Had grocery delivery stock room with water, sodas & rum before our arrival. Michael and family were wonderful hosts - we appreciated having them make several reservations in advance for us. Taxi drivers recommended were prompt and friendly. Easy to walk to restaurants for lunch or dinner. A fantastic stay; we would love to come back for another visit and explore this beautiful island more!

Lovely place, on the beach, with a lot of style and character, an artist’s garden. I loved my room, classic Caribbean sensibility, complete with kitchenette. Excellent peope, too…. Definitely a favorite, would love to stay longer next time.

The location was great. It was close to the airport and located between the two capitals, Marigot and Philipsburg. There were plenty of restaurants in walking distance and the beach was perfect for lounging and walking. The room was very spacious with plenty of amenities.

The pictures of this property show a beautiful beach front location. The don’t describe the rooms that haven’t been updated since 1942 with ac and doors that don’t full close or absolutely no view. There is no safe parking. The manager was “off island” and no one could change our room. Expedia should be ashamed charging what they did for this hovel.

This was our first time visiting Sint Maarten and we stayed at the Azure for 4 nights while we were there. Couldn’t have picked a better hotel. Michael greeted us when we arrived and went over everything. He also gave us some tips and recommendations and was a great host. The hotel was perfect for our needs and right on the beach! The air conditioning was great when we needed it, especially for sleeping. The housekeeping was amazing, they cleaned everything perfectly and even did the dishes. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we both slept well every night. I was initially worried about the airport being so close but it wasn’t an issue as the planes stop in the evening and don’t start up again until about 7am. The Simpson Bay beach is beautiful and the water was great. The hotel was also just a few blocks from many restaurants and shops. We walked around most of our time there and never felt unsafe, even walking back to the hotel in the evening after dinner. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back to explore more of the island.

Best vacation ever! We stayed at AZURE HOTEL Feb. 2025 for 1 week. Michael greeted us at our taxi with a a huge smile, helped with our luggage and showed us to our room. We loved the small boutique hotel feel with only 8 rooms and chairs and umbrellas for everyone. Spectacular beach which was only a few steps from our room. Fresh beach and bath towels were provided everyday and our room organized and swept by sweet Gladys. Just about everyday Michael stopped by the beach area to make sure all was well with our stay. Mary's Boon Beach Bar and Hotel is a short stroll down the beach where we enjoyed many Carib's and great food. Before we departed we secured another week Feb. 2026. Second stay at this hotel and it was even better than the first time! If you don’t like crowds and just want a clean, comfortable place to stay that is right on the beach, this is the place! Owners are the loveliest people, too.

Is now 4 year I Spend Time at azure hôtel and art studio. In the most Beautiful beach of sint marteen, Micheal has always been so welcoming and available. The spot is amazing, cosy room or studio. Directly on the Beach in a quiet Area but still so close from all the fun part of simson bay! I feel bad to share because I wish to keep this spot for me but I Would be ashame if you cross Sxm and do stop by them! Love it, definitly the best hotel and spot of the Area Thank you!!

We had booked a room in the courtyard thinking it was on the beach side. The owner offered us a beach side room at no extra charge when it became available 2 days after our arrival for the duration of our visit. For this act of kindness, the location, high standards of housekeeping, and happily appointed rooms we highly recommend this property for your next trip.

This is the second time we have stayed. It is a small hotel with only a few units. It is situated right on and in the middle of a nice beach. Peaceful , Not crowded. There are larger resorts at each ends of the beach. Many restaurants and bars in walking distance . The owners are very nice, friendly, and helpful! Just a great place to stay!

This hotel is my kind of place. Fantastic location on the beach. Very down to earth atmosphere. Very attentive, owner. Great decorative touches with amazing sculptures, garden, and and tortoises. And all that for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

This boutique hotel is a gem. Michael is a great host and makes you feel like returning family as opposed to just a hotel check-in. Azure is close to many very good restaurants and right on the sand in St. Martin. We plan on returning.

I wanted quiet place on beach away from loud bars , casinos and nightclubs. Great host , very clean, walk to supermarket, restaurants. Great views of sunset. Safe area. Exactly as described and what I wanted. Laid back vibe , beach beds, umbrellas, towels and floats included.

We stayed here with Michael & Fawnette for 4 nights and wished we had booked to stay longer! Loved the area! It was less than a 10-minute slow walk to the main strip with dozens of restaurants, bars and services (banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, spas, etc). We walked to the main road practically every day to enjoy at least one meal. We most appreciated having a small supermarket at the end of the street just a 1-minute walk away. It made for easy ferrying of groceries. We had a fully-equipped kitchenette complete with utensils, plates, pots, microwave...so it was convenient to make our breakfasts and warm up leftovers. The location is truly A+ and we were happy that we did not book to stay on the busy Airport road. The hotel is on the beach and it was so nice to get up and see the sun rise and have a serene morning walk. I saw so many people exercising, walking their dogs and meditating at 6:30am on this stretch of beach. Our stay coincided with the January full moon and it was just wonderful being on the sand watching the moon and stars. I haven't done this in ages and it was great that there wasn't much light pollution in this end of the beach to enjoy the nights skies even more! The beach sand here is soft and swimming is in super clear blue waters. It was calmer than other beaches (e.g. Maho Beach) at this time of year. Very relaxing! If you're looking to unwind and de-stress, this is the place. There were always loungers and umbrellas available. Probably the best part of our stay was having the best nights' sleep that we've had in years! The quality of their towels, sheets and mattresses is top-class! We usually have trouble sleeping in a new place, but from the very first night to our last, we slept soundly! Maybe it was the daily walking, swimming and fresh air, but the bed was definitely a winner for us! It's a 3-star hotel and it has all the creature comforts of home. Loved the bath amenities. Simple furnishings and we didn't need for more. The air-conditioning worked superbly and this was great on hot afternoons. When we return to St. Maarten, Azure will be our automatic hotel of choice!

Its on the beach

Very good experience in the Beach suite. Hotel cleaned the room thoroughly each day. It appeared that other people are repeated visitors due to the hospitality of Mike and his employees. We will be coming back and if you like simple, clean, beautiful beach setting then this place will be perfect for you.

Loved the location , oceanfront property in Simpson bay you walk a little bit and can see the runaway beautiful sunsets and very peaceful not crowded, Mary boon just like 7 min walking where you can get nice drinks and watch the sunset , also a lot of places nearby to eat favorite one was the Palms dinner and cafe atlántico for breakfast and nowhere special bar to grab a drink at night just within 1 km from property, Mike always helpful and gentle , room was always clean staff very friendly highly recommend stayed 7 nights then went French area the rest of my stay all I can I had great time definitely will come back

Azure is very conveniently located literally with beach access on your patio. Mike was a great host and they kept the area cleaned. It is a beach guesthouse so keep that in mind when booking because you are super close to your neighbors. The place was clean and I could walk conveniently to restaurants and bars. Kitchen area and very hot showers and comfortable bedding. Market is right across the street. Quite affordable and I cannot express how much of a convenience the location was. Hospitality was great!

We had the best stay at Azure Hotel and Art Studio. We had room #7, beach front. Might be the smallest room (not sure), however the king bed was exceptionally comfy! The kitchenette was functional and shower was hot. We spent some time lounging on the beach front chairs. Easy walk to the main drag with restaurants, grocery and Marina. I highly recommend. Thanks to the owners for our wonderful stay.

The owner was very flexible with is, our trip was delayed a full day because Hurricane Helene, beautiful space for what we needed right on the beach, great restraunt with in walking distance on the beach. There was no parking at the place so our host helped facilitate moving vehicles and parked pur car for us after he had showed us tto our roim,,very nice!!

Beautiful place right on the water. You can hear the waves as you fall asleep. A definite 10/10! Host was amazing. Everything was close by. We will return!

We were so lucky to find this hotel! It is on a beautiful spot of beach overlooking Simpson Bay. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The owners Mike and Faunet (sp?) made us feel like old friends. They were helpful with anything we needed, including dinner reservations, taxis and late checkouts. We needed to extend our stay because of a storm and they worked with us to accommodate the extension.

Quaint Beachfront/Beach house property in Simpson Bay....nice for couples or short stays and/or beach access.... allowed access to other events, restaurants via beach or nearby streets; walking distance to main strip & eateries. Owner Mike was wonderful—personable & gave history of location; displayed great art work in rooms. House Keeping arrived daily to freshen up towels, clean up & change bedding. The bed was wonderful!! The only downside, which was out of the control of the location, was island power outages daily to conserve across the island—-usually out during sleeping hours (3-5 am) & early afternoon (3-5 pm).... rooms stayed cool & outdoor covered sitting areas were available on beach. All in all a good stay!

We had an Amazing stay at The Azure Hotel! It was a very quaint boutique style hotel. It is located in a prime spot - Simpson Bay. The host Mike lives there with his wife and daughter and was VERY helpful.

We completely enjoyed our stay at the Azure Hotel. As you can see from the pictures you walk out your door onto the beach. Our room faced the ocean and we enjoyed breakfast on our patio every morning. The beach and water are incredible. Mike is a wonderful host, having lived there for 20 years he has great recommendations and will help with any car or tour recommendations.

Our stay at the Azure Hotel in Sint Maarten was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning turquoise blue ocean backdrop that provided a picturesque setting throughout our visit. Michael set the stage and made it easy to unwind and immerse ourselves in the serene island atmosphere. Ms Greta kept our room impeccably clean, with attention to detail evident in every corner. Our room was not only spotless but also incredibly spacious, offering a comfortable and luxurious retreat after a day of exploring. Despite being so close, the hotel manages to maintain a peaceful ambiance, making it convenient without any of the usual noise associated with such a location. This made our arrival and departure stress-free and allowed us to maximize our vacation time. Overall, Azure Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. The breathtaking ocean views, exceptional cleanliness, generous room size, and unbeatable location make it the perfect choice for anyone visiting Sint Maarten. We cannot wait to return and experience the hospitality of Azure Hotel once again.

Close to many restaurants

Can’t wait to come visit and stay here again! This hotel is a hidden gem - it’s a quaint little hotel with just a handful on rooms right on the beach! There are beach chairs & umbrellas available as well and you can swim right in front of the hotel! I stayed in the beach suite when I first got there I was a little unsure how secure the room was since this particular room is ground level right on the sand but I didn’t have any issues while I was there & thoroughly enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the waves on the beach.They also have several small shaded patio areas with tables and an outdoor grill plus small kitchenettes in the rooms which is great if u are looking to just unwind and not necessarily dine out at restaurants. If you don’t want to make/bring your own food you can easily walk down the beach (less than 5 min walk) to the Mary boon beach bar/restaurant for food and great cocktails (the whole menu is very affordable too). Alternately you can walk a few blocks into town and there is a little bakery right there as well as a few bars - walk a bit further and you can get to even more restaurants. If u are staying for awhile I would Reccomended renting a car just to explore the other great beaches on st Maarten-however it’s not necessary since you have everything u need within walking distance. The owner mike & his wife are very friendly & helpful- plus they live right there on the property which is perfect in case you need anything! Very happy with my stay!

Mike the owner made our stay so enjoyable!! The hotel is quiet, not commercial in any way and really is a small island hotel. If you are looking for a resort atmosphere look somewhere else. We were there for 3 days and will be back as soon as we can. Be patient with parking but everything else was fantastic.

Great beach

Clean and simple rooms but the bed was very comfortable and the location is perfect on the beach. Michael responded quickly to all of our inquiries and was very helpful. The stores and restaurants are in easy walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great beachfront location. Planes fly directly overhead, good and bad. Older but well kept and cute. No food or beverages on site but good kitchen and party store is 200 feet away. Nicest beach in 8 days of beaching on a cruise.

Fantastic little place right on the beach. Great location convenient to the airport, rental car companies, the port, dive shops, and great bars/restaurants. Mike is super friendly and welcoming, he goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and give you recommendations for places to go and things to do. Overall a really nice experience.
