Large comfortable suite
Old premises, average breakfast
The staff were friendly and the foyer looked nice and the Deputy Manager had the courtesy to seek me out and hear my complaints.
Pretty much everything. I quote some words from their website about the standard of room that i booked - "Rooms in our newer wing are decorated in restful, natural colours and textures. Described as city centre havens perched above the streets of Galway, our standard rooms range from 20m² - 22m² with..." We entered the main foyer with as lovely staircase but were quickly ushered down a side corridor and into a small lift in a side wing which housed our room. The room was dark, the view (there was no view promised) was over the inner yard area housing pigeons, seagulls, ducts and so on - thoroughly unpleasant. The room was scruffy and the carpet marked. The bed was uncomfortable and housed within a weird timber frame and the bed itself was propped up on sawn timber screwed together. The bathroom seemed okay until on closer inspection, the shower tray base was grimy, the mastic sealant had been applied by a blind man and the hand held shower attachment would not stay in the holder and so had to be put on the deck. The shower valve controls did provide hot water but it needs renewing, given that the slightest turn made the water go from hot to very hot or freezing cold. The breakfast was okay but i particularly enjoyed my spoon which was covered in yesterdays dried egg - who would think to lay the table with that! We paid £330 through booking.com - do you even know where you are sending clients - but i could have booked the same room that night for £229 online. My bad but value for money this place is not.
Everything
Was a rude drunk guest insulted my wife but not hotels fault
Location Staff
A little noisy from the street in the evenings but expected given the central location
Clean comfortable and centrally located

Zuerst wird walletparking um 35 Euro angeboten. Dann eine Garage um 12 Euro sicher 10min zu fuss. um die Ecke gibt es Parkplätze am Bahnhof um 6.5 Euro....; Personal etwas muffig
Location
The room was not adequately lighted despite the fact I paid extra for the room
Location couldn't be more convenient to the train station.
Bathroom was dated and worn. Bar staff were overloaded and not skilled to manage orders.
Great location
Nothing
All good clean and food good too
Lage top Frühstück gut
Kleines kaltes zimmer neben aufzug
The staff and the location
Cleanliness in the shower. Noise levels. Dining room staff were depressed and breakfast was overcooked and kinda stale
Lovely staff .
The rooms very dated , not particularly clean and very dark.
Fantastic location beside the train station. Quick checkin process & while our room was not ready, our luggage was taken promptly off us & stored for later. Friendly & efficient staff. We were on the 2d/b/b deal & while a slightly reduced dinner menu choice, the food was of a very high quality. Great breakfasts in the Gaslight Brasserie. As we went early in the week, dinner was served in the McNeill bar downstairs, not the same dining experience that I have experienced before in the lovely Gaslight Brasserie upstairs! All in all a most enjoyable stay. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others
It was a lovely place. You could see the grandness of it. Loved the lobby and bar areas. The jr. suite we were in was grand. The ceilings were so tall, the windows were stunning. The marble bathroom was very neat. The tub was amazing, so deep. There were parts of the hotel that needs some refresh, like the hallways to the room, or parts of the bathroom, but overall it was a great place.
The Hardiman is a lovely historic hotel next to the Galway rail station. Our room was large, beautiful and well-equipped. Breakfast was generous. We did have to move rooms, however, when our first room overlooked the train station and we could hear the beeping of the bus gate every time it opened (every several minutes). We were upgraded to a lovely suite, so no complaints. If you are noise-sensitive, note that when you make your room selection.
Conveniently located near the train. Very inviting flower boxes and lovely entrance. The hotel is smartly furrnished, very clean and tidy. Staff is attentive and helpful; quite professional. Rooms and bath were spacious with ample room for personal belongings, comfortable bed and lovely seating area. The breakfast offers a vast variety of food choices including a personal order available and is served in an elegant dining setting. The wait staff was attentive, immedistely serving a pot of coffee and/or tea with fresh toast to the table. Check in and check out were fast and seamless. All in all, a stellar experience . With no hesitation I would recommend to my friends. In addition to dining for lunch and dinner in the hotel, sa plethora of dining options are a short walk as well as a shopping center.
Great dinner party in McNeills. Basement bar in Eyre Sq. Worth a visit.
This was an amazing stay from the spotless room to the fantastic staff. Breakfast was beautiful and well made . The front desk staff had great recommendations as well as being welcoming and going above and beyond. Thank you to Bradley for the special surprise on the new of our engagement .
The property was gorgeous. The rooms were large and comfortable. We ate at the Oyster Bar and MacNeills and both were delicious. It was right on Eyre Square, close to all city center attractions
Not a thing
The staff were fantastic. Very friendly and particularly helpful.
There was a wet, musty smell in the hall and lift.
We booked 4 rooms > one ( room215) was very nice , spacious had a great bathroom , two rooms were adequate. furniture old and bathrooms need re vamping and in room 201 the toilet had not been flushed and there was urine in the toilet bowl. The next day there was no water nor toilet rolls supplied. but the biggest disappointment was room 214. It was tiny, the bathroom was sooo old fashioned. ,the shower a throw back to the 60 s. It was hard to believe it was in the same hotel as room 215, it was also charged at the same rate as the other rooms. Breakfast was very disappointing, the bread tasted like it had been left out overnight. the bacon was chewy and tasteless. I left feeling hungry . some of the staff were lovely with smiles and great attitude, lets not talk about the grumpy men in the basement bar, if you dont want to serve customers , why work there We complained about 214 but were told the hotel was full and the guests could not be moved. we complained to management as we were leaving on Sunday and they were very sorry, but not as sorry as me, having spent quite a lot of money for poor quality service. we were offered nothing as recompense except 40 euros off another stay. i will never be back. the free glass of fizz on arrival didnt happen, I saw no evidence of anyone being offered a glass of anything. We left behind a bottle of champagne in the fridge in room 215 our mistake, but when our friends asked to retrieve it, it was gone !!!!!!
The hotel is trading on its past, it is great location and nice interiors and bedrooms, but there is a general lack of high quality attention to detail and management oversight. When we arrived for breakfast at 7am there was only one staff member and it was slow to get attention and service. The breakfast buffet was ok but below average for this category of hotel, it needed a real uplift. It was generally very average. I think for the cost of the hotel it was poor value
Convenient, clean . Great reception staff
nothing to note
Great location, good breakfast, oyster bar is nice, room was good, MacNeils pub I would recommend giving it a miss, not the best, but staff were very friendly
The location of this Hotel is perfect, especially if taking the train or even the bus from other locations in Ireland. This is our 2nd time for staying at this hotel and each time was a wonderful experience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The Irish Breakfast that is included is always delicious and served very quickly, especially if you are ordering something off the menu. We had a huge room which worked out perfectly as we had a table and 4 chairs and could play cards each night with the couple that we traveled with after we were done exploring Galway. The hotel is always clean and little noise at all in our room. Again the atmosphere of this hotel is perfect and the ambiance of an older hotel is perfect.
Good very quite by night comfy bed
great location but not a 4 star hotel - small rooms in need of a renovation, breakfast included which was convenient and well executed
The hotel is very beautiful and the staff was helpful.
There was some construction going on next door, but we needed to keep our window open because it was very warm.
Very convenient for shopping.
Nothing
I went during Christmas time 2025 food was cold and the smell of urine on the premises was outrageous it was filthy and the cutlery we were given was mauled with finger prints and dust particles and finishing the meal to celebrate Christmas myself and my friend decided to take memorial photos to which we were escorted out and they made a huge fuss We paid for food like everyone else so I don’t understand what the problem was it was Christmas everyone is taking photos ?
Disappointing. We stayed for 2 nights. When we booked, a number of months ago, we were given the option of dining in The Gaslight Brasserie, Oyster Bar, or MacNeill's Pub. We chose The Gaslight Brasserie ; however, when we checked in, we were informed that The Gaslight Brasserie was closed for dinner, and we would have to dine in the Oyster Bar, or MacNeill’s. We chose The Oyster Bar, which was very disappointing, as it was claustrophobic, with no windows/views. Also disappointing was the fact that we were given the same menu (which had very limited choice) each night. We were also promised a room with a view of Eyre Square, but the view was only of a small section of the square.
We loved our one-night stay at this beautiful iconic hotel. Our room was very clean and comfortable and had an in-room safe, an ironing board and iron, as well as a kettle with tea and instant coffee provided. The location is great, right across from Eyre Square and within short walking distance of many restaurants, pubs and shops. Breakfast was included with our stay, and it was awesome!
The breakfast was delicious and had a lovely view of the square outside. The rooms are warm, beautiful and comfortable.
The room was a bit tricky to find but staff were very helpful to show us.
To be honest I was very dissatisfied with my experience. I was very disappointed with the room. There was a cobweb on the ceiling, the wallpaper coming off the wall and at the window and the door frame starting to chip beside the bathtub. And then next problem I had with was down in MacNeills bar. The first goof thing was I had my dinner which was very enjoyable and the staff were very nice and always ask did I need anything. The problem I had was when it came to paying. I told the person at the bar that I had a deal for a meal and a drink for €27 and they were unaware of this deal and then tried ringing up to front desk and there was no answer. They had to physically go up and see what this deal was as it wasn’t on the till. Lastly the second good thing I could say is the at that the breakfast was very enjoyable and staff were nice and always asked did I need anything.
Really nice hotel , excellent staff and fabulous breakfast would highly recommend
We stayed 2 nights in a Deluxe room. Really lovely hotel staff ( Sarah on reception and staff in the bar & restaurant downstairs need particular mention for amazing service which led to lovely ambience and welcome). Breakfast was lovely on both mornings. Our only small problem if we are to be honest . There was a locked connecting door to another room and we could clearly hear people in the next room having conversations and even could hear the two way conversations of phonecalls.
Had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Hardiman hotel, what a fabulous hotel. The room was beautiful and the staff were faultless especially Sarah at reception who was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us, we will definitely be back ❤️
Perfect location, on Eyre Square Really lovely breakfast, quality food, fresh orange juice, etc Staff exceptionally welcoming and helpful
location
not much
Location
Bar was closed at 12 midnight when we returned to the hotel. We asked the staff for a drink and they refused to open it. We went elsewhere for a drink. When we returned at 1am the bar was open and full of people. Incredibly disappointing and frustrating and no reasonable explanation from the staff as to why we were sent away. Have stayed here many times before but never again.
Location is perfect for city visit. Availed of valet parking which was a fantastic. Great breakfast and very nice staff.
A little bit tired - carpets, furniture etc.
Hotel and staff wer lovely .food very good.close to transport
Couldent complain
Excellent location with a great view of Eyre Square.
The hotel is a little dated and the breakfast buffet was poor.
The location is excellent, the hotel is right beside the train station and walking distance to all sites in Galway city centre. the staff were very helpful at reception and at the breakfast. the breakfast choices were great and a a quick turnaround on the orders plus all the buffet was great quality and choice. Our room was really comfortable and quiet despite facing onto Eyre Square, they have great double insulation on the windows.
What a wonderful weekend at The Hardiman Hotel in Galway. It was such a pleasure, from the moment we arrived we felt the warmth of The Hardiman, from their fabulous Reception Team, to the servers & food in the Oyster Bar, and the Housekeeping staff, it was just brilliant. We decided to book this Hotel as its in Eyre Square and right in the middle of Galway city, and it had been years since either of us had been to Galway and it was my birthday weekend treat from my Husband. The Reception staff were so lovely and gave us a surprise upgrade to a Suite on the 4th floor, where lots of birthday touches where waiting for me — a welcome note, Macarons and Chocolate dipped strawberries really helped make our celebration extra special. We booked dinner and drinks in the Oyster Bar and it was delicious, excellent wait staff, with fab food & cocktails. The breakfast lived up to expectations — from the Full Irish to those fluffy pancakes and perfectly prepared lattés...nothing was too much trouble. The staff were plentyful and all very efficient. The décor, atmosphere and fireplace in Reception is so elegant, I didn't realise I loved the colour Green so much...lol. I'm not really one for posting reviews but The Hardiman Hotel, 100% deserves an incredible review, the biggest gem is their Staff, they are obviously very expirenced, valued and invested in, they have created a wonderful environment for their guests to experience and should be so proud of themselves for the memories they are making for patrons. You guys are a 5⭐️Hotel and we look forward to going back soon.
Excellent, as always. Very enjoyable stay. Staff are always prompt and courteous. Great location. Shall definitely be returning!
La ubicacion es inmejorable y el desayuno excelente La habitacion la cama muy comoda y es una habitacion grande pero el acceso a la habitacion requiere una reforma
Best location for Galway city. Modern appearance, very accommodating and friendly staff. Food and drinks good, breakfast even better. For booking and ease of use, I would highly recommend this hotel. Should be a 5 star, in comparison to other 5 star hotels in the locality, only for its lack of pool. Cant fault the availability of staff and their professionalism
Fantastic location in the heart of Galway City. Despite this, the rooms are quiet with no noise disturbance which is great for a good nights sleep. Staff are professional, efficient and friendly. Room was clean, modern and spacious. Breakfast had great variety & nice that you can order fresh hot food. Reduced parking rate, €11.40 for 24 hours.
No bathroom door. The bed was 2 singles pushed together & 1 mattress was higher than the other so not as comfortable as hoped. Room was cold & had to put the radiator on which took a while to heat the room. It would be nice if heating was on, even low, upon arrival. Parking is a bit of a distance when lugging bags and set down area had the same cars parked in it for over an hour.
The whole experience was fantastic
Nothing
Beautiful older hotel in a great location. Easy check in and check out. Train station is right around the corner. Great pubs and restaurants out the front door.
old run down hotel.. very worn out.. room was very shabby furniture old and worn out bathroom has seen better days I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone
Our flight to Ireland was cancelled when we were at the gate due to a problem with the plane. I called the hotel to cancel and ask for a refund. I was told that because I cancelled within 48 hours of arrival, a refund was not possible. I asked them to use some discretion and take account of the circumstances (the cancellation was not my fault) and they refused. I'm not disputing that the hotel was completely within their rights to refuse a refund. I just think that in situations like this, you can do better than this.
It is very conveniently located and is also very well operated and maintained
Rooms were very comfortable
Breakfast im afraid was cold
Great location. Staff are lovely. We were celebrating my husband’s 40th and they left a lovely desert in the room for us. Breakfast was good.
There was a bad smell in the corridor. Room was small and stuffy for the price that we paid. Double bed was two single mattresses which was not very comfortable. There was building works outside our room which started at 7.30am Saturday morning.
