Nice staff, welcoming proprietor, good value for money
Nothing important to us
Excellent cooked breakfast and we enjoyed dinner there one evening. Very good quiet location and good value for money.
Need some hooks in the bathroom!
Fabulous stay . Would strongly recommend with beautiful room and bathroom space , views with rural setting , warm and welcoming staff and delicious breakfast .
Liked everything
Great breakfast
The location was excellant set in a small Yorkshire Dales village with wonderful surrounding countryside very peaceful so good to get away from busy traffic etc

Beautiful location, friendly staff, well equipped room and food and drink choice was very good
Nice area comfortable bed so good night sleep staff was very friendly had a lovely breakfast not to big but it set the day off for our next travel loved the black pudding
Shame it didn't do evening meals as we had a long drive so didn't really wanted to go out anywhere to get dinner we was given ideas from the friendly staff but also when it said private bathroom didn't realise separate toilet and bathroom we had go out of the room to go to toilet or the bathroom down the corridor
Backs onto gorgeous scenery. Welcoming host with flexible check in time. Very comfortable bed and really tasty breakfast.
Some of the furniture was a little unstable. It was good location for our itinerary however the pub was the only amenity in the village.
Nice place very quiet staff were brilliant and food was very good both really enjoyed it.

Location was as expected. Breakfast was very good.
Everything was fine.
It was very comfortable and great that they offered delicious evening meals
What's not to like?
Please let people know about the best way to get there since one of the major routes is closed. It was a long detour.
Lovely pub in peaceful occasion and such a lovely girl who looked after all my orders. Food was brilliant, especially at breakfast
Only thing I would say is the separate bathroom has a deep bath with integral shower and as someone with knee problems I struggled to get in and out. I've stayed here frequently but in the future I'd rather pay more to have an ensuite but I'd definitely be back.
Quiet, beautiful surroundings and the food was lovely.
Lovely country pub with a beer garden, good beer and great food.
What a hidden gem!! First time here, was amazing. Just what the doctor ordered, if you want peace and quiet and a chilled atmosphere this was heavenly! Lovely sunset walk behind the pub high up with great views! Food was fantastic so flavoursome Bed so comfy Breakfast was fabulous too Lovely cosy pub decor and great garden Will deffo return and highly recommended. Close to Richmond and Reeth

This is a really charming pub. Everything was just perfect for us and we would definitely be back
Beautiful location. Charming pub with new landlord. Room was a little dated but large and comfortable enough and very clean. Food and breakfast were excellent. Great to see such a lovely atmosphere and busy pub

The pub is set in a small picturesque village. The staff are super friendly, the selection of ales is very good and the food is delicious. We would definitely recommend the beef suet pie and jam roly poly. Double suet I know, but you only live once. All the food looked excellent and the breakfast was plentiful and also very good.
The hotel rooms are comfortable, albeit for some rooms the bathrooms are shared.
Super location in the countryside. Excellent cooked breakfast. Room very comfortable.
Stunning position we loved the Beer Garden and the room we had was a great size and again lovely village view.
Staff were brilliant and food amazing. We were a little bit late arriving but Paul moved our dinner booking back a little to give us time to freshen up and wind down from our drive before eating. The view from the outside eating area is pretty good as were the rooms, with tea and coffee facilities..
Not much..
The property is in a very quiet beautiful area

My husband and I have been staying at the Bolton Arms every July for the past 5 years and have always had a perfect weekend there. This time we met the new owners Paul & Toni who were both so welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay another memorable one. The bedroom was fabulous a very comfy bed, the breakfast was fantastic and the choice of evening meals were excellent. As for the views outside in the beer garden, you would have to go a long way to beat it, it’s simply stunning! The peace and tranquility it has to offer just makes our stay more special. We will be going back again in 2027.

Absolutely nothing.
De gezelligheid, het super lekkere eten en de ongedwongenheid.
Niets. Tja het was 30° , maar ondanks dat was het geweldig!
The location was perfect- the surrounding countryside, divine. Paul and staff were friendly and obliging and the room lived up to it’s promise. Breakfast and evening meal, very goid.
The room needs blockout curtaining.
Great location. Rural setting surrounded by lovely North Yorkshire countryside. Lovely views. Good menu. Friendly staff. New owner making a great effort to make the Bolton Arms an excellent pub for a short break Excellent pint of Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter.
Not so keen on the piped music. You can hear the music in the bedrooms but it ends when the bar closes.
Clean room, amazing location
Quiet, beautiful scenery, fantastic food and staff! Will definitely be back!
Absolutely nothing.
Excellent evening meal and breakfast, great facilities, very friendly and accommodating staff

Fabulous location off the beaten track. Good food, friendly staff. Clean and comfortable.
Everything was perfect
Very clean. Staff really helpful and friendly. Food excellent
No problem with the Bolton Arms
Brilliant pub with a good range of beers and excellent food. Our room was comfortable and clean with a nice ensuite. There was a pleasant view of the surrounding countryside from the window. The staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel welcome. The pub has a nice atmosphere with friendly locals. We look forward to returning soon.

Lovely Stay at a gorgeous Pub in a stunning location. Made very welcome and room was perfect. Good value for money .
Fantastic breakfast, clean room. Lovely staff, great view.
Schön gelegen, mitten in der Natur. Nacht totale Ruhe. Der Pub ist uhrig mit einem tollen Flair. Essen top. Bier gut. Es gibt 3 Zimmer zum Übernachten. Wer Trubel und Geschäfte ist hier falsch

The food was very good and the price of drinks was very reasonable. The beer garden has stunning views.
The bedroom was the only one with a private bathroom and the room was tiny. There was no seating in the room and the facilities were very limited due to lack of space. You barely had room to move around the bed.
Comfy bed, and the best breakfast that i have ever had (and i am 69yrs old)
No control of central heating in room, was a bit cold in the evening
A small country pub in a beautiful position within Yorkshire Dales National Park. Comfortable and clean and friendly staff. A good menu with plenty to choose from. Expect service to be slow as all freshly cooked to each order. Spectacular walks from the property in this quieter part of Swaledale.
Classic Yorkshire countryside.

Above the kitchen so a little noisy from 7am
Excellent accommodation
It was situated in a quaint village, excellent views
The location, the meals and the staff.
Poor choice of draught beers and cider although we understand that a change of ownership was imminent.
My first but not last visit (have already rebooked for later in the summer) This is one of those rare stays where facilities etc score highly but it comes with that extra bit extra .. ie you genuinely sense the welcome and feel like a local. Some good walks Safe environment eg motorcycle parking
We were made to feel welcome right from when we walked in, the friendly staff couldn’t have done any more for us if they tried,
Nothing
Beautiful location, staff were friendly
The quality of breakfast wasn't great, the bed was uncomfortable, very very soft mattress. Some rubbish under the bed and a bit dusty in places. Very very expensive for what it is.
Our 3rd stay in the last 3 years . It was lovely to be incharge of the open fire cause it was so quiet on night and wed never actualy seen it lit till this stay .. I was helping Rebecca, she does enough.😄 Overall, it's the food and quietness why we return . It's a little gem 💎 ✨️ Amazing staff and on the ball making it perfect and well ran .
Only thing I would say , some areas look tired . Cracks that need re sealing. The dresser buffet is really loose on the bolts 🔩.(room 1) Tightened them the best I could last night. Fingers , not a spanner ha . No beans this morning, making the brekkie a little dry but it was still amazing. Not a problem ! No other issues .
Staff were lovely and chatty, friendly, our room was small but had everything you needed.
Beer's we're off as owner's were in transit, moving abroad. Shower wasn't very powerful.
Quiet and peaceful location Very comfy bed and good shower Brilliant breakfast and good quality evening meal

Lovely little country pub, really fantastic views, excellent beer, good food, friendly staff. Our bathroom and loo were straight across the landing which was no bother at all. Hope the new owners will keep its charm.

We had a fantastic stay at The Bolton Arms in Downholme. The location is absolutely picturesque, surrounded by beautiful countryside and a lovely peaceful village atmosphere. The staff were all very welcoming, especially the girls working in the bar and restaurant who were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The food was excellent and clearly prepared with care, and the friendly locals in the village made the whole experience even more enjoyable. (Special mention to Bill and his wife … thank you for being so kind and inviting us in to you home for a coffee and lovely meeting Daisy the cat) We would definitely visit again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful setting. ⭐
.

Great breakfast. Downholme is a nice Location if you're looking for that seculded small villiage vibe with terrific views over the north yorkshire countryside. Very quiet at night and slept like a log. One tip, taxi's are expensive, £16 to Richmond and forget about ordering an Uber as there arent any ! To help with costs I'd recommend the bus and return by taxi if that's your thing.
Great location, pretty building, attentive staff, good food (dinner and breakfast) and good value.
.
Dinner here was fabulous, so were breakfasts. Staff were super friendly and really helpful. Rooms were spacious and bathrooms were clean. Beer garden out the back had great views over countryside, just beautiful.
