Fantastic location
The stairs
Great location, professional service
All good
It’s an interesting historic hotel right on the market square. The room (superior double) was beautifully renovated and very comfortable.
The restaurant staff seemed slightly overwhelmed but they were very friendly and the food was very good so no major issues.
Location and staff
Rooms were poor, bed were tiny, needs some investment
Fantastic room excellent location great view from room good night's sleep quality fixtures and fittings
Nothing everything was good
The hotel overlooked the marketplace and looked very grand. The food was ok and the breakfast was good. The staff were excellent.
It felt quite cold downstairs with doors and windows open.
Excellent location, staff very friendly, drinks expensive but good atmosphere. Nice hotel
Couldn't open the window in the room as damaged and the window rattled in the wind which overnight was a bit annoying.
Perfect central location. Good sized room, everything felt like luxury in the room. Staff all very helpful and friendly. Lovely hotel in the heart of Richmond.
Very friendly staff, lovely comfy room, central location.
Great location. Great room and facilities. Staff could not have been more friendly. Lovely breakfast
Nothing
Friendly helpful staff. The room was comfortable and roomy. Is
Great staff lovely food , white paint work needs a bloody good rub down /sanding and nice gloss white finish would make a hell of a difference to a lovely building , need a new toaster from this century get rid of the one from 1993, some kind of lift for luggage, saw a group really struggling up the stairs , maybe employ someone to do it
Good breakfast, staff were very helpful. Throughout our stay, all staff were kind and helpful.
We were charged for the full five nights parking although parking was very limited and we only parked for one night - it was assumed without confirmation. When I noticed the excess parking charge on the bill, it was removed. The dinner menu never changed. The windows in our room needed the attention of a carpenter and decorator!
Large bed
No.lift
The staff were friendly and helpful
Good location, nice bar, staff alright..
Room was in desperate need of some TLC paint was peeling and exposing plaster, the window was proper open with an off cut of wood. For the price I paid I’d expect better quality.
The doors slamming when you come in and out of the room
Good breakfast Good location
Toiletries in room wernt sure if we could use the large bottles as the price list for each were next to them Thought if we used them we would have to pay for the whole large bottle it needs to be made clearer what yo do (there was none of the usual tiny satchets that you usually get in a hotel )
Location,
Car park is small only 4 spaces and one of them is a disable parking space, however I managed to park in the car park for the 2 nights I was staying there
Great location. The food was very good. The staff are lovely
Location, friendly staff, feel comfortable.
Little noise from roof like rain drop and peigon etc.
No lift.
A good nights sleep in a good location. Staff are friendly and very helpful.
Several public areas of the hotel are tired/worn out and need of updating. Breakfast was adequate!
Staff very polite and helpful. Location and parking were excellent. No lift - room on 3rd floor, with a heavy case to carry. Single room very small and cramped and claustrophobic with very small window. Accommodation for single travellers should be improved Toilet and shower had been cleaned well and the bedding was clean. However the room seemed grubby and tired - carpet and floor covering in the ensuite needed a good clean and the furniture was in need of an upgrade. Bed was comfortable.
Staff were polite and helpful. Location and hotel parking were very good.
Good location, room with a bath.
Chaotic checking in process as if it was a surprise I had arrived.
Great location Great staff Very clean
Would have been good to have breakfast included in the price
The Kings Head Hotel is a superbly-located, character hotel with good facilities and private parking. The room and bathroom were a good size. There were some lovely touches such as a vintage DAB radio on a bedside cabinet which was playing softly on our arrival.
On the second morning, we were told it was possible to take one's continental breakfast out onto the pavement decking, which sounded great. The waitress said she'd bring our coffee out to us which sounded even better. However, she brought us a cafetiere with coffee and nothing else. This meant my husband had to pilfer cups, saucers, teaspoons and sugar from one of the inside tables for us to drink it. If the staff offer to bring drinks out to the decking, they should bring everything that needs to go with them.
Hotel staff were excellent, especially Amy e who made me a cracking sandwich after the kitchen closed
We had to park in the long stay car park which was a fair walk away , as there were no spaces in front of the hotel. That said it was only £6.50 for 24hrs. I think this needs explaing better on the advert as it gives the wrong impression.
Staff were much more welcoming than I've experienced in recent years. Maybe a change of staff or management, but everyone greeted us with a smile and with courtesy. It made a real difference to the stay! Please do keep it up!
Nothing at all.
The location was nice & the building was dated but impressive
Nothing
Breakfast was very good. Good choice to pick from. Location of hotel was excellent with shops and cafes very close to it.
Unfortunately bed was too soft for me.
Its location , right in the heart of Richmond with so many shops / bars / cafes etc literally on your doorstep
We thought it was a little expensive to stay , makes you wonder how people can afford to stay in this country. We stayed in a deluxe double with breakfast for £351 ? So basically £175 per night. And the bar drinks were very expensive too
The hotel is in an excellent location. The room was spacious and comfortable. Food was delicious and portion sizes were very good. The staff were friendly and efficient.
The stairs were the only issue. Carrying two heavy suitcases up two flights of stairs was an onerous task.
Central location on the square
Not really anything
Great food
Good
Bedroom window openings not enough one did not open .fan in room not enough .
Beautiful hotel super comfy bed
Windows are old and need replacing . We couldn't open ours fully . Also our room wasn't serviced but the lady in the bar went out of her way late in the evening to fetch us clean towels, milk and coffee for the morning.
Position
Confortable
Location was fantastic
Room was tiny, and far too hot. Windows couldn’t be opened more than a crack, unbearable, no AC. Mould on ceiling and walls from what looked like an old leak from above. Restraunt forgot about my order, then took it again 30 minutes later.
The staff were not the best, the beer was not good there was a wedding which we were only told about on arrival why put a non wedding guest near the wedding
Big bed and a spotless bathroom.
Loud music playing until midnight. It was loud enough to hear every word Not what I was expecting from a hotel. The room was stuffy with little ventilation, and the window couldn't be opened as it needed repairing. Breakfast could be warmer and not on cold plates.
Great location and very comfortable bed. The bathroom was amazing.
Not enough bar staff. We had to queue for ages to get a drink.
Located on the market place it was a good location for walking around the town and local places of interest. On site parking
The amount of noise early in the morning (6am) when street cleaning and removing barriers for market
Location and as we arrived early was able to use one of the very few car parking spaces although it did cost £10 per night.
No lift and no staff available or willing to help with luggage even though the room was on the 2nd floor.
Lovely room, it was very hot with no air con, though a fan was provided. Comfortable bed. Great breakfast.
No lift, probably due to age of building so it’s hard work carting all your luggage up 4 flights of stairs.
Welcoming hotel, where you feel at home when you arrive.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Evening meal was lovely. We didn't have breakfast. Car park behind the building. The bed was comfortable. The room needs a repaint.
Shower curtain had mould on the bottom and behind the taps. Our room was very hot even with fan.
The location and the friendly staff
The mattress was too soft and sunk in. No bedroom slippers & bath robes as listed in booking.
l'embiance générale; personnel sympathique. l'hotel est bien situé dans la villeeeeeee.
la chambre (208) était un peu lugubre et sombre. le repas du soir (fish&chips) n'était pas des meilleurs ( chips a moitié cuits)
Location. Cleanliness and facilities.
Standard glazing does not keep out the noise of the street. Closing time at other venues see the street fill with noisy people - obviously enjoying their night but being loud and I could hear every word. 02:00am I managed to get to sleep.
Comfort of the room
It was a particularly hot weekend and it was a challenge to keep the room cool at night but fan did the job. Room directly above the function suite, so noise level was considerable until party ended.
Everything
Dirty towel in bathroom
Nice room Nice bar Nice dining room
One of the young staff was abrupt when trying to get seated for dinner.
Loved the location. We had a room overlooking the Square which was great.
Nothing!
The bed was fine and the bathroom. Breakfast was okay too, as was the hotel location.
The room was very slanted with concrete ceiling and when going to make a drink where the kettle was, you had to duck so you didnt bash your head.
Friendly staff, beautiful room and fabulous food
Nothing not to like
The location was great The team were really friendly
Nothing
Very friendly staff, excellent town centre location. We will definitely consider another visit to the Kings Head later in the year.
No aircon in the room, but its an older building and the weather was exceptionally warm on the evening we stayed, so its not a criticism as such and a desk fan was provided to get a air circulation in the room.
The location and bedroom.
The smell on the stairs.
Very friendly staff.good location and lots of shops.
There was no lift and it was a bit of a slog up three flights of stairs.
The location
Lack of staff broken hairdryer that I asked to be replaced after going to reception with wet hair as there are no phones in the room. It wasn’t replaced free asking several times. No one on reception so had to ask bar staff who were over worked as there were only 2 people on an big event was being held there
Same clean room as before, good parking, friendly staff.
Could do with a first floor room if poss as the wife has lung/breathing difficulties. Thought maybe a tad expensive at 144 without breakfast
Liked the well-maintained old world charm of the place, sash widows, which you could open. Nicely appointed throughout and helpful staff. We three hotels in as many days and this was head and shoulder above the others - both of which were good.
No lift, however the staff immediately offered to take my case up.
The design of the building inside was exquisite.

Lovely big room clean and friendly staff
Lovely and unique
The location was ideal. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Our room was very clean and comfortable.
Long term parking could be an issue as the hotel car park is limited and £10 overnight charge. Free overnight parking in market square but two hours daytime using disc display. Long stay carpark 10 minutes walk.
Breakfast was excellent — well cooked and presented and serving staff v helpful
Room had a sticker on the window saying do not open, presumably because it was poorly maintained. There was no aircon. Room was uncomfortably hot and stuffy. On arrival staff member said just to let you know there’s a £10 additional charge for car parking. I said I didn’t see that on the website. He said no I know but you need to pay it.
Bedroom comfortable, nice mix of areas to sit in bar.
Only one chef Sunday eve so bit chaotic with the service with a longer wait however the guy on duty front of house stepped up to help with the serving and trying to keep the customers calm’ Grest member of staff ! Few of the staff bit less attentive.
Lovely hotel in the centre of town. Spacious room, lovely breakfast
The room was very hot and the sash windows when open rumbled all night. I thought it was thunder. Car parking cost an additional £10 but we were aware of this.
Zentrale Lage, Zimmer ruhig und abgelegen. Ducks.
Verwirrung um Parkmöglichkeit.
Location.
Room a bit small and difficult to ventilate (fan provided). At least two flights of stairs to rooms.
A very interesting hotel with lots of history. Good clean and comfortable rooms and good food. Staff were extremely helpful and polite.
Nothing
Location and access to local amenities.
Location was great. Richmond is a beautiful little market town. Have stayed in other Coaching Inn Group hotels hence the reason. We booked this one but it didn’t live up to our previous experience with the chain.
It was grand and did what we needed however for the price and the name with other coaching group hotels it’s not keeping pace.
Staff were helpful
Paying for breakfast
Everything
Rooms were too warm
Excellent property and one of the nicest on our Coast to Coast walk.
Unfortunately, some of the staff members were rude throughout our stay and made it clear they would make us wait longer than necessary for basic requests.
The reception area / bar / breakfast lounge ridiculously hot . People were having to go outside to cool down
Convenient central parking
Noisy party in the evening.
Nice restaurant, good bar, great room
All good
Charme
It highlighted the history and culture of the building and town.
Very good location. Nice meal had in the restaurant.
Bathroom very small in our room and a little dated. Walk from the car park to the Hotel Reception not very pleasant- would be better off directing people round to the front door!
Nice attention to detail in the room. I liked it when my partner fell asleep so I could watch what I wanted on TV. Great room, nice place.
It was a tad noisy outside, but hardly their fault.
We got the Deluxe room as a bit of a treat, it was lovely, very clean and comfortable Stand were very friendly and helpful
Need to ditch those vegan sausages. Nobody wants mash potato, peas and sweetcorn in sausage shape. Apart from that though the breakfast was really nice.
friendly and helpful staff, best location right on Market square free parking over night excellent breakfast
no minibar refrigerator in the room no air-condition just a small ventilator
The Kings Head is my go to hotel. But its incredibly frustrating that the prices constantly change here on booking.com. !
Always a goid stay
Another great stay
No problems whatsoever
Lovely room and Sunday lunch was amazing
Was a warm day and couldn’t open the window in the bedroom
Convenient
Location, comfort, dinner, excellent full English breakfast.
£10 car parking is a little steep.
Staff outstanding
הצוות, המיקום מעולה, החדר, ארוחת הבוקר, הפאב וההופעות החיות בימי מוצ״ש
היה קר בחדר ולא היו אמצעי חימום נגישים
Character property with an excellent location
No major issues but the actual property would benefit from a refresh, particularly externally but this not detract from a very enjoyable stay.
Such a cool group of staff, they helped up big time as it was the first big road trip we have done with our baby. Yorkshire people are the best!
As always, a lovely stay - restful, characterful hotel. Staff good and helpful etc. Always love to sit in the lovely lounge bar with a beer.
We usually enjoy the food at the King's Head, but this time, the menu had changed recently and we weren't very keen on the food we had (we just wanted 'small-bite' type stuff). The options didn't feel as varied as last time we stayed; the mushrooms on toast were 'dry' and we asked for a sauce, which was quickly made and delivered (which demonstrated how helpful everyone is here!). But also, none of the food was hot. I realise that (say) a scotch egg may not be meant to be hot, but the food was all sort of 'lukewarm' - neither one thing or the other - which neither of us find very attractive. Sorry if that sounds picky! But it certainly won't put us off returning again soon.
Great location, good food and beer
Not a lot
Very friendly, comfortable and super food

Situated in the heart of Richmond, overlooking the market square and castle for a timeless backdrop.
Indulge in the hotel’s restaurant with a new exciting menu and warm, attentive service.
