Loved the Inn itself and the area , most of the staff were friendly and helpful
Would have been nice to have had an email or something to tell us that the road up to tan hill was closed because of that we were diverted out of our way, Would be nice to have a small fridge in the room with bottled water as I was quite dehydrated through the night , besides that all good , breakfast was a little slow due to only one young girl doing everything from sorting the breakfasts and sorting the walkers sandwiches etc
Good food and generous portions.
Expensive for a bunk bed and only one toilet and shower for a lot of people.
Location was fantastic

Lovely
The pod
Everything was exactly how I imagined and hoped it would be.
The fact that I couldn’t run up a tab, I had to pay pay for drinks every time. Even though I was staying in room 1. If this is because someone has done a runner in the past, then take a copy of their credit/debit card at the beginning. I was waiting to be served when I saw my evening meal go by so had to forget a drink with my meal as it would have been cold by the time I had got served.
Staff friendly and helpful, food was good, room comfortable, atmosphere cosy and relaxed
Ontbijt , locatie
Bed maar vooral gehorig en lawaaierig
This is one of my favourite places I have ever stayed. The entire place is beautiful, dark wood and a real fireplace, big old wooden tables and photos of years gone by. The beer selection and the food were exceptional. I wish I could have stayed longer.
It's a strange thing, but the bathroom sink in the rooms is really shallow. It is impossible to use the tap in the bathroom without splashing everywhere, no matter how gently you turn it on.
Location
The food especially the ceasar salad!
Hospitality, food and staff friendliness
Single bunk bed mattresses were a little uncomfortable
The location is amazing with fantastic views
We went many years ago before the new owners refurbed it. It was a dump then. Now it is much better but the breakfast was very poor quality. My vegan breakfast arrived with no sausage, mushroom rage consisted of 2 fried mushrooms!!!! My husband's black pudding was overcooked and overall it was cold. Coffee was cold too. Evening meal was far too salty. The room appeared clean but the bathroom could have been much cleaner. Carpets in the hallways are dirty. All in all its starting to look shabby. £149 for this is overpriced.
Lovely remote stay gets very busy . Here to watch Bowie tribute and was a a really good evening . Rooms spacious and comfortable. Staff amazing and work very hard
Nothing
I liked the experience as wanted to stay at the highest inn in England The inn atmosphere at the bar & restaurant was very authentic. But the staff were overwhelmed & overworked.
It’s quite run down in places. The carpet in the upstairs hallway needs replacing or at least a good clean. Our shower didn’t drain very well
Been here twice absolutely love the place great service
Nothing everything great
It was cosy, the rooms were clean, plenty of parking
2 of the beers I actually drink they had run out of, had no steak, or giant Yorkshire puddings available for dinner, breakfast had a full English, wouldn't say it was a full English but it was nice

Amazing location. Loved our little pod - definitely warm Enough for us, well Laid out and clean and great o be able to see the night’s sky.
Although generally clean the shared facility (bathroom/toilet) for the pods /bunks - appears to be only 1 - and when I went to use it floor was very wet/ could do with a mop for people to wipe floor after showers or giving each pod bath mats for the floor - the one in the shower room was definitely not up to the job on its own. Food was great - although out of some food by the time we came to our table at 7pm. It also took 1 hour 20’for the food to arrive which meant we were pretty hungry after a days walking.
We stopped in a pod the bed was really comfortable
The main light and star lights didnt work. Our bathroom the toilet seat was broke.
Tolle Stimmung nettes Personal

Everything, good atmosphere and staff were really helpful
Would have liked a hair dryer
The location is fantastic. The glamping pod was very comfortable - much better equipped than expected! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and this created a very warm and welcoming vibe.
The food we ordered was a little disappointing - maybe we were just unlucky as other meals looked better. The food and drinks were a bit on the expensive side - as was the glamping pod - but I appreciate that it is a special location and this comes at a price. I would definitely go back!
We did the dragon's ascent walk on the pennine way and the hotel was a welcome haven to arrive at with a comfy room, delicious food and fun music!
We were above the pub toilet and the door was creaking open and shut into the early hours.
I have been here quite a few times over the years but first time I’ve stayed and it was worth it
Atmosphere and the peace and quiet
Unique location.
I popped a note in my booking to state its my partners birthday. The staff pipped a banner up and a hand written note. Brilliant! Those acts of service go a long way! We will return
Outstanding location, great selection of drinks, wonderful food and engaging staff.
Was not able to stay long enough
Location perfect for pennine way stopover. We were a party of 8 and requested 4 halal, 1 coeliac and 1 vegan meals Nice rooms and showers
Evening meal, breakfast and packed lunch wasn't great for the price, and was only ok. Gluten free breakfast was just toast Vegetarian packed lunch was simple cheese sandwich, a snicker and a fruit shoot, cost nearly £12!
The staff were friendly and very accommodating. We had to leave before breakfast was served so they made us up a pack lunch the night before. Very nice dinner food as well.
Paso obligado par Peninne way
Breakfast was very enjoyable. Food was really good in the evening. Bedrooms have everything that was needed.
We stayed in one of the glamping pods. It was private and the bed was comfortable. We had a choice of two shared bathrooms, one shared with another room and one with the campers. The view is fantastic from Tan Hill.
Sharing the bathrooms with so many people, so the bathroom floor was wet
The light was not working on the dome

Everything!! The location was amazing, and the room was clean and comfortable. The food was as good as everyone said and the staff were lovely. They all worked really hard, but a special shout out to Max! He was especially helpful, very pleasant and always served us with a smile! Definitely can not wait to go back!
Just that England lost in the semi-final of the World Cup. We watched it in the beautiful barn. Lovely purpose built venue for special events and live music. It's just a shame it never went out way!
The place is iconic, really the location is all that matters. Great atmosphere
Late breakfast when you want to get on the trail, not cheap, but I’d far rather they charged more and stayed open
Comfortable x nice breakfast friendly staff
Very nice and polite staff lovely atmosphere
Attention to my wife's vegertarian coeliac requirements. Excellent! The food in the bar restaurant was excellent, giving an opportunity to mix with other guests. Fantastic, cosy place. The views from the room and the overall comfort of it. It was a high spec and well decorated room. Lovely colour scheme. Great TV size to watch from the bed. Great. Highly recommended. An obvious 'Must stay'place!
The bathroom sink was a little too small, and water will go everywhere if you aren't vigilant. There were no toileteries given the high decorative spec of the room. This was surprising. Apart from that...nothing!
We spent one night in one of the domes after walking from Green Dragon Hardraw, the dome was lovely had everything you needed after a long day on our feet. Very comfortable. Food was great ….giant Yorkshire puds. Would love to come back on a weekend when there is live music to get full experience. Breakfast was great, and the young lad serving all the tables was brilliant. Dog friendly also
There was a neon sigh outside the dome which remained on all night and the water feature running all night also.
Ok had better
just not what i excepted for the money
Good food in a proper pub environment with roaring fires. Also visited the following day with a car club and were very well received with cake, tea and coffee. Very well organised. Many thanks.
Nothing.
The junior staff were very helpful. The bedroom was comfortable and well equipped
The food was expensive. I had booked bed and breakfast. I asked for sandwiches in lieu of breakfast as I had to leave early. The manager was reluctantly. I asked for 2 and he said I could only have one. I was charged £9 for a basic sandwich between 2 slices of supermarket sliced bread.
The warm welcoming of the lovely friendly staff as well as the cozy warm welcome of the inn .The decor is beautiful . The rooms are beautiful and so comfortable. This inn Is spotlessly clean.. The food is amazing with plenty of choice and large portions. They have board games if anyone wants to play Monopoly ect they also sell souvenirs of the tan hill. The location of the tan hill is the highest pub in the UK right up on top of the stunning Yorkshire dales with absolutely stunning views. Everyone is so friendly and it is extremely dog friendly. We can't wait to go back. Thank you to all the staff there x
There was nothing that I did not like. We love staying there and will always go back. The only tiny thing and this is me being fussy I think they should maybe get rid of the sugary cereals and replace with healthier like Weetabix and musilie as a lot of walkers ect stay there and people in general just want healthier cereals now but the cooked breakfast is beautiful and white and brown toast so no no complaints at all.
The breakfast was very nice and a good size meal and very tasty.
Friendly and helpful staff. Iconic location. Good pub food. Lovely bed and bedding. Thought of everything in the dome.
Shared toilet and showers rather busy. Understaffed although very pleasant. Would have preferred to have an earlier breakfast and packed lunch so that we could set off on our long walk earlier. O830 is too late
Location good
Arrived at 6pm and told room not ready should have been ready at 4pm
Big bath.
Staff are a bit clueless and waited ages for breakfast as they missed my order. Beer needs a new cellar man.
The breakfast was good, but no black pudding! The bathroom was grubby, tiles needed regrouting and some needed cracks fixing. Generally the ambiance of the whole setup was very good!
An amazing location, the staff were very friendly

Friendly staff, comfortable room and staff. Good food. The staff changed our evening dinner booking to an earlier time which was appreciated 😀
A little thing, whereby once the evening meal was put down, the waitress disappeared without asking whether there was anything more, ie., sauces for the roast. It was also the second time, we stayed at the pub where the clock wasn't working in the bedroom. This is not going to stop us staying again, it's a heads up for you. Thank you for reading this ❤️
The Room was Lovely and the food good and well presented.
Queing up and Ordering food every time you wanted to either get a drink or buy food. Very long queues. No difference if you walked in or if you were a resident guest. Food and bar should be separate. Would actually prefer to order at the table as we did at breakfast.
Comfortable beds in male dorm. Nice bedding. Good shower. Great pub. Good beer and good.
Breakfast was excellent but for a walkers pub started too late ie 0830 earliest breakfast where everyone piles in together as they're keen to get going.
Staff, food, live music and ofcourse the location were all exceptional.
Nothing
- nice Location - very nice atmosphere - great food
Location is amazing.
Room really dusty & food sadly pretty average!
Location staff and food were excellent
Accommodation was tired and toilet and shower facilities were limited
Good food, great location for Pennine Way. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good atmosphere.
Nothing
Great pub/restaurant with character and charm. Excellent food and friendly welcoming staff who cater to your every need. Lovely room. The guy in charge can’t remember his name was a credit to the pub as were the bar and waitresses. Great selection of beers and food.
Mattress was a little lumpy but that is a very minor criticism as I slept well.
It's an incredible place! We will come back for sure!
Amazing location
Free toiletries does NOT include shampoo or body wash!
The location is unbelievable. 1732 above sea level and with full modern facilities. I arrived on foot - I was walking the Pennine Journey - and stayed in the Swaledale room which was exceptional. Service in the main pub was 5 Star. Great beers. And the meals impressive. If travellers feel like a true escape then have a night at The Tan Hill Inn.
I had no problems.
Beautiful place but extremely busy. Be prepared to que for drinks. Room was nice but not so great with delivery and septic tank cleaner right under our window. Maybe arrange that after check out time. Food was amazing and staff worked extremely hard consistently with how busy it was. Breakfast food was lovely .
Septic tank outside our window . Only rice crispies available as a cereal at breakfast. No marmalade. No milk jugs.
Breakfast was poor
Location is iconic and storage of bicycles in barn overnight excellent. Meeting interesting & friendly characters in the bar area.
Lack of sufficient towels, cups, shower body wash and shampoo dispenser empty. Breakfast good but took 1well over 70 mins and was disorganised.
Friendly staff, very good breakfast, excellent value for money, superb location.
Bar was very busy.
Stunning location
Lovely stay in unique location. Warm welcome at this atmospheric inn. Rooms are tastefully decorated and bathroom has a touch of luxury. Fabulous menu with good choice of gf options.
Man konnte unterschiedliche Dinge wählen.
Can barely fault anything. Staff were fantastic, food excellent. Great atmosphere. Location is unreal. Recommend the 10 mile circular walk from the pub although it's fairly up hill and down dale (unsurprisingly).
Rooms a tad on the small side but with a belly full of their food and beer you don't really mind. Would definitely go again.
An amazing place to visit with the luxury of staying over for the night. Great food, choice of drinks and the glamping pod was a great experience.
Breakfast took quite a while, extremely busy, was booked in for 9 o clock breakfast but still hadnt got our order at 9.45. Was asked if we'd ordered by a different member of staff and it was only when we were looking around wondering why our breakfast hadnt arrived did someone go and check. It came a few minutes later.
The Tan Hill is a fantastic pub in an amazing location. We visited 40 years ago on a motorcycle and returned in the car for an overnight stay. We were not disappointed! The place is better than ever; atmospheric and vibrant. The staff are fantastic, food is delicious, and choice of beer is heavenly! Our room was clean, cosy, and comfortable and breakfast was fab. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Nowt!
Amazing views from this lovely little pub with a short to tell. Great food. Friendly staff.
Only complaint is rooms were too hot
This place is fantastic, well known to be a must visit location and it lived up to the hype. So cozy and welcoming. Came on a Sunday and very busy, make sure to book ahead
Only complaint was to do with the food. It was Sunday roast day and the roast was nice but came with a huge but inedible Yorkshire pudding. Burnt to a crisp, I saw plate after plate get sent back empty but no one ate the pudding. Staff were advised but they kept coming out the same.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent
The price of the drinks .the evening meal was ok but seems to be reheated
Liked the location. The food was good. The band were really good. The overall atmosphere was great. The breakfast was very good. We met some really great people and had a fun night enjoying the live entertainment.
It just wasn't clean. Understand they cater for hikers and mountain bikers but at least the get the basics right when it comes to cleaning. For £259 I would expect more. We booked the restaurant via booking.com messaging. We should have been informed you are only allowed 90 minutes at the table. Not so much of a problem if there is anywhere else to sit but there wasn't. Had to do the same as everyone else and sit on other reserved tables until asked to move. Sat and had breakfast where none of the other empty tables had been cleared - short staffed? We got the impression that as it's a destination venue it's always going to be busy so they don't have to try too hard.
Nice place
Room was not heated when we arrived and heating only switched on around 20:30 - and for a cold room the price was too high!
