The room was busy and claustrophobic Not enough space for two people with luggage

The property is in a great location in the centre of Montagu, so that you can walk to most facilities. The historic home has been meticulously renovated to give you an authentic old world experience. The room is spacious enough and well appointed. The breakfast room is stunning and so inviting. The hosts provided a delicious breakfast each morning.

Nothing to dislike.

Das im Detail liebevoll zubereitete Frühstück , welches in einem Stil der 60igee / 70iger Jahre eingerichteten Zimmer eingenommen wurde.

Nettes, zuvorkommendes Gastgeber-Ehepaar. Gutes Zimmer mit einer tollen Veranda an ruhiger Lage, wo wir uns sehr wohl fühlten. Das Auto konnte im Innenhof parkiert werden. Hervorragendes Frühstück mit Musik der Sechzigerjahre von der Schallplatte.

Fantastic home-cooked breakfast every morning. Our hosts were very welcoming and attentive. What a quaint house, which has been fantastically renovated, and decorated in keeping with the style of the house. Everything is neat and clean.

Wunderschönes altes Herrenhaus. Der Frühstücksraum war sehr nostalgisch und hostorisch eingerichtet. Ein echter Hingucker. Der Gastgeber war sehr nett und das Frühstück inklusive Ambiente ein Erlebnis.

Das Zimmer war sehr klein und roch ein wenig muffig. Das Bett war aber sehr bequem und alles war sauber und privat.

Het pand is prachtig in stijl, zowel buiten als binnen. De locatie is zeer prettig, dicht bij alles, maar net weg van het drukkere verkeer. De gastheer was aller vriendelijkst en het ontbijt lekker, voldoende, maar extra speciaal door de gramafoon speler met Franstalige muziek

The breakfast was really adorable, and changed my overall review of Montagu Manor to be more positive. The owner served us himself and was very attentive and agreeable.

The room we stayed in was cramped, the bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the bathroom had no privacy or ventilation. the door between the bedroom and bathroom was more of a screen, so my partner and I would take turns waiting outside while the other was busy doing their business in the bathroom. I know this is an old building and the room retained a lot of the old charm, but there are some modernizations that must be made for comfort.

Fantastiskt charmigt boende i ett gammalt hus. Otroligt generösa värdar som förgyllde frukosten med musik av Yves Montand från LP-skivor. Rum och matsal var tidsenligt inrett och servicen kunde inte vara bättre.

Rummet saknade luftkonditionering men det fanns fläkt i taket.

Ein gemütliches altes Haus, ein bißchen in die Jahre gekommen. Die Inhaber haben Lust an Gestaltung und ein ganz individuelles kleines Refugium geschaffen. Alte Möbel, Sammelerstücke...Abgeschlossener Parkplatz. Kühlschrank, alles da. Unübertroffen: das Frühstück und die sympathischen Gastgeber. Ganz ruhig und trotzdem nah am hübschen Zentrum gelegen.

Der Tag war sehr heiß gewesen, der Raum brauchte lange, um abzukühlen....

Un accueil très chaleureux dans une maison décorée avec un charme retro. Sans oublier le délicieux petit-déjeuner ́. Je recommande .

Tolle Gastgeber, tolle Gespräche. Einzigartiges Ambiente wie auf einer Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit und lecker Frühstück bei französischen Chansons von einem alten Plattenspieler.

Eine stilvolle Übernachtung in einem historischen Gebäude mit sehr liebenswürdigen Vermietern. Das Frühstück übertraf alle Erwartungen in einem historisch eingerichteten Zimmer.

Lovely historic building which had been beautifully restored. Very friendly host. Great breakfast. Location ideal for exploring Montagu.

Urmysigt hus med egen karaktär och trevligt värdpar, som hyr ut ett rum. Det ligger med egen ingång ifrån stora altanen där det fanns fåtöljer utplacerade, så det blir väldigt personligt. Rummet var lite trångt, men inte för trångt. Nyrenoverat badrum. Ligger tyst och fint i säkert område med nån minuts gångväg till närmaste restaurang och centrum

This grand house has a great history. Lovely friendly owner. Vinyl musik from a vintage recordplayer. Full house breakfast, good memories makers! Love the courage for colours.

Fantastic quirky accommodation, lovely hosts who were warm welcoming and informative. Great breakfast in superb surroundings. Safe, secure, quiet and centrally located.

Our hosts Elaine and Wikkie were super efficient, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The old building has been tastefully restored and decorated with period furniture which enhances the experience.

Tolle Lage und sehr sicher, man kann zu Fuß überall hingegen. Sehr liebevoll in viktorianischem Stil eingerichtet und Frühstück in einem liebevollen Ambiente. Und als Top gab es französische Chansons von der Vinyl Platte

The owners have maintained this beautiful Victorian home. They have added an eclectic and quaint touch to everything in the home, setting a stage for a lovely space. Super breakfast set up! Walked to our dinner Pizza spot, no qualms. The Rumbling Tum as you enter Montagu is a delicious and worthy stop.

Location was quite noisy as it was month end and the town was humming. A few noisy cars but the following day peace reigned.

Central location, value for money, comfortable rooms, delicious breakfast included. The staff went out of their way to make my birthday celebration special with carrot cake and sparkling wine waiting for me in my room on arrival. Highly recommend Montagu Manor, we will be back.

Thank you Elaine and Wikkie! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay with you. The breakfast experience was totally unexpected and what a fantastic treat it was! Next level, to be certain! Our room was comfortable and we loved the olde worlde Victorian theme. We hope to visit you again sometime in the future.

The location isn't perfect as the magistrales court is just across the road, which unfortunately draws some unsavory characters to the area. However, this is all forgotten from the moment one enters the property.

We booked and paid through hotels.com - although the hotel has reviews the owner claims he does not use hotels.com. He asked us to pay for the night after we had already paid and have a receipt of payment. The owner asked us to pay again, although we had already paid.

Breakfast was fabulous. Our very welcoming hosts made a special effort to make our stay most enjoyable. The room was comfortable, tea, coffee and milk was provided. As we arrived on Valentine's Day, our hosts gifted us a bottle of wine, chocolate, fruit and sweets.

Everything. The history of an old Building. The room was comfortable and had Everything needed for an overnight stay. My favorite place was sitting on the stoep and listening to the birds while having a cup of coffee. Breakfast in the dining room while listening to old French music was soothing. Really enjoyed my stay at the Montagu Manor. It was very central and a road or 2 away from restuarants and Town. So..Thank you.

I can't say there was anything I did not like.

The victorian theme was so well established throughout the space preserving the true essence of this property’s history; Beautifully captured in all the fine details! It was so clean and homey too. A huge sense of comforting resting here.

A beautiful old house, sympathetically furnished and very elegant. Elaine and her partner are excellent hosts, so welcoming and helpful. The room was well equipped and comfortable. The breakfasts are delicious.

The bedroom is very comfortable with two armchairs, a wardrobe and coffee table, which made it quite compact and there was no space for our cases. Not a big problem though.

Beautiful room with every comfort you could wish for. I really appreciated the options on coffee, milk in the fridge, as well as water for the night. The owner couple were absolutely lovely, and very accommodating. Breakfast was a feast and completely unexpected.

We stayed here for one night in mid-August 2024 and although our visit was short, it was sweet. We really enjoyed staying at Montagu Manor. The host was very friendly and warm, and was able to answer our questions on where to eat/what to see in the area/safety. The location of the place is excellent - right in the town and with secure, safe parking. Our room was simply lovely. It was so charming and everything in it just fitted. So lovely. The shower was great. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast the following morning was a treat. Lovely food and the room - gorgeous. It was the little details - the cutlery, the background music, the table cloth: we loved it all. Definitely would stay again if we are ever in the area.

Location so bad we did not even get out of the car, but nobody from the guest house bothered to contact us to see if we were arriving considering we paid in full before arriving.

Elaine and Wikkie were fantastic.(and Lily the Doggie) I was given a lovely surprise birthday cake on my day. Breakfast was exceptional, enough to last until Dinner time! Good secure place for the car which was inside the property. Highly recommended.

Not only were our hosts exceptionally friendly, but their attention to detail was really impressive. Our room, the breakfast room, and the property were all impeccably decorated with a lovely Victorian/Edwardian theme, our bed was really comfortable, the shower in the bathroom was beautiful, and the breakfast was both extremely generous and delicious! We especially loved the authentic antique record player that was playing French jazz when we arrived for breakfast, and our hosts’ kind recommendations for places to visit. The recommendation for Barrydale was great!

It's a beautiful room and the hosts where very attentive. Great attention was given to the room and all the small details made for a great stay. Breakfast was fantastic. Love the wrap around porch, and there is cozy seats available outside of the room where you can read a book, or just relax and drink a glass of wine.
