Bona Ngwenya Lodge & Safaris

The viewpoint overlooking the river; All the facilities available, like the ice-maker and DSTV!! Wow! Everything was very clean and the host was very helpful, even when we arrived early to leave our stuff there, going into the Kruger! The braai area was so accessible and plenty of tables to eat!

Die Lage direkt am Crocodile River und in Marloth Park, wo wilde Tiere bis ans Grundstück herankommen, ist einfach phänomenal. Im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen Häusern dort hat Bona Ngwenya aber auch noch einen Zaun rund um den wunderschön angelegten Garten, sodass die Tiere nicht hereinkönnen. Dadurch bleiben Pool und Grundstück sauber und man fühlt sich sicher. Insgesamt haben wir uns vorort total sicher gefühlt. Alles ist gut überwacht undl der Besitzer Dennis wohnt nebenan. Er ist sehr herzlich und ihm ist es wichtig, dass sich seine Gäste rundherum wohlfühlen. Als wir z.B. ein Problem mit unserer Spülmaschine ansprachen, hat er in Windeseile eine Neue besorgt und sofort angeschlossen. Als wir von der Safari zurückkamen, war bereits alles erledigt. Das Haus bietet viel Platz und ist mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht. Sogar Trinkwasser kam aufbereitet aus dem Hahn und es gab eine Eismaschine. Das Erlebnis unter einem typisch südafrikanischen Reetdach zu schlafen war für uns ebenfalls angenehm, da dadurch ein sehr gutes Raumklima entsteht. Einziges Manko: Es hält Schall nicht sehr gut ab, sodass man manchmal recht laute Tiergeräusche gehört hat. Aber das gehört zum Leben in so einer Umgebung mit den vielen Wildtieren einfach auch dazu. Zusätzlich zur Hausvermietung bietet die Agentur auch Safaris an, die man direkt über Dennis buchen kann. Wir hatten eine tolle Ganztagestour mit einem richtig engagierten Guide, der uns nicht nur zu den besten Sichtungsplätzen brachte, sondern auch viel über die Tierwelt erzählte. Abends kamen dann noch ganz überraschend die professionellen Fotos per Whatsapp, die der Guide geschossen hatte (ohne Aufpreis).

Die Duschen besitzen bis auf die weniger ansprechende Dusche im Dachgeschoss keinen Einhandmischer, was das Herstellen einer angenehmen Temperatur erschwerte. Aber das ist in vielen Unterkünften in Südafrika so und als wir es bei unserer Abreise ansprachen, wollte Dennis sich sofort darum kümmern, dass es besser funktioniert.

Beste Unterkunft in Marloth Park. Wunderschöner Garten mit Grillmöglichkeit und einem schönen Pool, den die Kinder liebten. Der Ausguck zum Kruger Nationalpark ist super und die Lage ist perfekt im Marloth Park. Giraffen laufen direkt an dem Garten vorbei, einfach WOW... Es ist wie im Paradies

Perfect quiet place for us to stay with our friends and family. Dennis is a warm and welcoming host. Ngwenya is peaceful and the best part is the hide overlooking the river and animals in Kruger. Our young kids shared the loft upstairs and each set of parents had their own separate comfortable bedroom. Loved our braais on the back patio... perfect for creating memories with our friends and families. The boys were brave enough to check out the cool water in the pool and loved the slide. Ngwenya is also perfect for the 20-25 minute drive to Crocodile Bridge gate in Kruger. Thank you, Dennis!

Het is een geweldig huis op een prachtige locatie omringd door de natuur. De uitkijktoren is erg leuk, je kijkt zo het Kruger Park in en kan dan vanuit "huis" al wilde dieren spotten. Het is ongeveer een half uur tot 40 minuten rijden naar Kruger Park en je kan via Dennis een safari (Game Drive) boeken. Er zijn 3 slaapkamers met allemaal een eigen badkamer, dat vonden wij heel fijn. In de keuken is alles wat je nodig hebt en buiten natuurlijk een braai. Er is genoeg plek om te zitten en bij het zwembad zijn ligstoelen. Het zwembad is heerlijk om af te koelen na een dag safari. Het water is schoon en een stuk van het zwembad is ondiep, dat was voor onze zoon van 4 heel handig! Dennis is ontzettend aardig en gastvrij. Hij regelt alles wat je nodig hebt en kan ook veel vertellen over alle dieren want hij heeft jarenlang zelf door Kruger Park gereden als gids.

De wegen in Marloth Park zijn door de overstromingen/vele regen niet best, dus met onze huurauto was dat nog best lastig. De safari autos hebben er totaal geen problemen mee.

The accommodation was excellent, facilities exceptional, great viewing deck.The host was very helpful and accommodating. He arranged a game drive for us which was exceptional and we managed to see the big five and more.He recommended Jabula restaurant to us for supper and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Prachtige bijzondere plek, fijne locatie en alles was goed geregeld. We hebben genoten.

The location is excellent and the viewing deck is the cherry on the top. We had some good game viewing and were also lucky enough to see elephants right by the fence, walking right past the house. The accommodation is spacious for families, well laid out and overall it is a relaxing place and nice to unwind, just steps away from the Kruger Park.

The Lookout was amazing. Saw a variety of wildlife from there. Lovely eating areas. Kitchen fully equipped, bed comfortable.

Amazing place!!! And amazing host. Great thanks to Dennis!!! Did not hope to get so many emotions from staying there. While going to this lodge, make sure you get a chance to meet sunset at the view point and also sunrise with a cup of coffee (the lodge has a coffee maker). One evening we had a dozen giraffes walking just a few meters from us (and not shy of coming closer at all) + an elephant on our side of the river. Doing barbecue while kids enjoying the pool with cold drinks (the lodge has an ice making machine) was another nice memory.

Our late arrival was not a problem. Oom Dennis welcomed us and is kind and patient. All you need and much more in a well equipped kitchen. Comfortable and clean.. A home away from home.. With the difference of Crocodile river on your doorstep.. Beautiful animal sightings.. Sunset drive a must.

The only thing is that theres no bath in the house The top room can be made more private with partitionings. Everybody is walking past there to go to the view point. No privacy at all

beautiful location next to Crocodile River. We were a group of 6 and house was well equipped to deal with this size party. Dennis was an excellent host, checked us in and was there for us (next door) in case we needed anything.

Dennis is a great host. not only is the location great, but the lookout hide is the best we have had in all our visits to Marloth Park. the accommodation was also superb.

The hosts, Dennis & Inge were like family. The view at the hide was amazing, the house nice & big with all you need, beautiful garden & the best safari ever with Dennis (who shared so much of his knowledge with us of animals, the bush, trees, plants and birds). The resident baby bush babies were adorable and free roaming buck & Zebra makes it very special. Inge made us the most lovely milk tart & snacks and there were so many personal touches. We had a wonderful stay at Bona Ngwenya lodge and couldn't have asked for more!

The location, the size of the accommodation is excellent and all you need is your groceries.

The 1 bathroom's shower wasn't working but we made do with the other 2 showers.

Location is great overlooking the crocodile river. The viewing deck was an added bonus with awesome sunsets Dennis and inge were excellent host and always helpful. On arrival we were shown around the house by Inge and Inge also escorted us to the local supermarket. The day trip to the Kruger with Dennis was an amazing experience. He was so knowledgeable

Hot water in the shower was not always reliable

The lookout is incredible. It overlooks the Crocodile River where we got to see and hear the hippo. We saw a Fish Eagle catch its breakfast. And watch the Impala and Duiker roam below us. The property is well equipped and the hosts were INCREDIBLE! Dennis was our ranger, really knowledgeable and determined to find us the Big Five. We saw four, Plus cheetah and some very rare Southern Ground Hornbills. The baby Rhino sighting was so heartwarming. We really appreciated Dennis showing us birds, smaller wildlife and telling us about the trees too. We found the tracks of the allusive Leopard. It was a magical two days. Inga was the perfect host. She knew we needed some help with our baby granddaughter as one of us grandparents would stay behind to look after her whilst the parents enjoyed their safari. Inga took us to the nearby shop, and even came to the granddad’s rescue whilst baby was having tummy trouble. Inga settled her and gave me the opportunity to have a quick shower. Priceless, heartfelt support. So appreciated.

It feels mean to find any fault. The home is lovely and welcoming. Some little touches to heighten the experience would be welcome. White linens (easier to clean and more hygienic), with duvets rather than a quilt. The light switches are confusing but if you’re staying for a few days will be easily worked out. I couldn’t work out how to get a warm shower. Boiling hot or ice cold. But when you are staying in the bush, either is phenomenal over no shower at all.

What a great place to stay, ideal location and an amazing viewing deck.

House is well located and very cozy, the setup is great and beautiful house. The owner received us with hospitality and helped us with our requests.

Believe the house should’ve be prepared before our check in, in regards to cleaning we saw some cobwebs on the roof and walls and dust in some compartments, and cutlery should be cleaning before store in drawers. Because of the location, the housekeeper should do some efforts to cleaning up the house.

a new power back up had been installed prior to arrival and it seemed to have had a wiring issue… this meant we had power tripping regularly. we where only in property for 1 night but the power team was there the next day to fix it

Location. Can see kruger park from lodge and animals at the crocodile River from the viewing deck. The lodge . Comfortable. Home away from home. Extra touches to give the "bush wildlife" feel. Connected inverter during load shedding on last day.

Damp smell in one room. Aircon Didn't work

The views was amazing, we had the best lookout tower ever and saw more from there than from anywhere in Merloth park. The sounds of the hippos and all the birds, great! The kids enjoyed the pool and the little pond with tiny fish in them, kept them busy. the bicycles were great for the kids. Best stay ever

The property is on the last road against the rivir, lots of cars pass which can be a bit irritating
