The property, staff, and management had everything to Love. Great place; great location.

The innkeeper Chris and staff were super friendly and responsive. The room was spacious, and the location was great for walking around town after a long drive We enjoyed the live music or simply relaxing on the porch.

We encountered a room situation, but the innkeeper quickly addressed it. The breakfasts were a bit ordinary casserole and baked good dishes I can make at home; however, they were presented well. Also, they accommodate a special request when asked.

The complimentary breakfast options were perfect! Sitting on the open deck, enjoying the beautiful surroundings was very enjoyable. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and the meals came out very quickly.

The Innkeeper and staff were friendly and so helpful. Made you feel like family. Beautiful Inn and grounds conveniently located to everything in Bar Harbor.

The staff was amazing. Accommodations were as well. Room was clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the every afternoon snacks and live music in the evenings. Location is prime as well, being a short walk from Bar Harbor waterfront and restaurants. Acadia NP gate is a short distance away.

Cozy B&B right in the heart of everything. Parking on site. Room was nice and quiet. Owner was very gracious, Walker, front desk, was so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast outstanding. Music venue in the garden one night was great with cocktail offerings. All in all, a wonderful respite!

Had a lovely trip to Bar Harbor for a few days and stayed at Sand Bar Cottage. We stayed in one of the Garden Cottages and it was SO nice! Had some afternoons that were a bit dreary so we loved sitting by our own fire in the very comfy chairs. Breakfast was amazing! Really some of the best we've had! Little things like afternoon snacks, guidebooks to use, etc. made this a relaxing homey few days for us. We'd love to stay again!

The Innkeepers Chris and Walker pay attention to things that make their guests feel welcome. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Heat lamps on the porch made it comfortable for us to eat the delicious breakfast outside enjoying the refreshing spring mornings. I’m happy to have spent my birthday at the Sandbar (Chauffeur’s Cottage), Chris & Walker brought me a petite cake, card & chocolate dipped strawberries. A special B&B located steps from Shore Path, Agamont park and downtown dining/shopping. Leave your car parked at the Inn and go.

There are no words to accurately describe how amazing Sand Bar Cottage is. Chris is an amazing host, and was incredibly flexible. But the real deal in addition to the decor and lovely host is the food. I have never, ever, ever had such good food at a B & B. If they opened a restaurant it would be recognized by Michelin. Offering a sweet option and a savory option every morning is so awesome, and there were no bad choices. Everything was neat and clean, the heaters on the front porch made sitting outside possible when I thought it was not. Lovely gardens, parking on-site, comfy bed. I have no idea why you would choose anywhere else to stay in Bar Harbor. But I almost dont want to say it because I want to be sure to get in next time I'm in town! Thanks for everything, Chris, you are truly fabulous and your place is too!

This was our first time staying here. We had a wonderful visit. The Inn is beautiful and the service was fabulous. Chris and Walker were extremely welcoming. Room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast was delicious each morning. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you!

Lovely experience taking a birthday trip right before tourist season. My room in Acadia West was beautiful. Chris and his team made the stay feel like home. Planning on staying again in the future.

Beautiful large rooms, super cozy

The most lovely little inn that was the perfect beachside getaway spot to celebrate the start of spring. Thank you to our most gracious host, Chris, who was so incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating! He was able to recommend a stunning hike on Gorham Mountain that was a highlight on this Maine trip. The daily breakfast was a delightful treat every morning that absolutely in and of itself is one of the best charms about this place! The location is perfectly within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor and the houses themselves were so beautifully decorated. Would highly recommend, we will definitely be coming back!

We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back! Breakfast (especially the blueberry coffee) was incredible, and talking to Walker and Chris each morning was an absolute joy. Location really can’t be beat. Walking distance to pretty much everything downtown and a short drive to the park. Tea/coffee and some snacks were available to go, which made for a perfect pit stop between activities. Parking at sand bar was also very easy! The bed was very comfortable, and the rooms were clean.

I don’t have enough space to explain how incredibly amazing our stay was. This was a 10 year anniversary trip for me and my husband in September 2025. So we are late to leave a review but had to come back and rave about them! Of course the grounds were beautiful, the room was comfortable and accommodating (small shower bc old building but not bad), and extremely walkable. The property hosts live music & a delicious house made drinks. The band “On The Rocks” was our favorite so if they’re playing, GO! But the Inn Keeper Chris is 100000% what makes this worth every penny. He was helpful with every question, hospitable at every turn, but the best part? SARCASTIC AND LOVING. I CANNOT WITH THIS MAN. HE IS THE BEST!!! 20/10 recommend this place and cannot wait to go back! OMG ALSO BREAKFAST WAS MIND BLOWINGLY GOOD!! Way better than anything in town and you just wake up and walk downstairs instead of long wait times. Coffee was amazing too. Cannot recommend enough!

We traveled 3500 miles in 4 days. With Acadia National Park as our destination. Hoping we could make it, even if only for a few hours. At the end of our day we booked Sand Bar Inn. It was by far the BEST room we had our whole vacation! We stayed in the Southeast room, upstairs in the grey house. The room was spacious, clean and adorable! We would definitely stay again and longer!

The way breakfast works could be explained better. We had never stayed in a place like this before. Morning hostess just walked right past us as we were trying to figure it out. We ended up leaving without eating. The bed could have been a little bit more comfortable (softer) but that’s just personal preference.

Chris and staff went above and beyond beyond to make sure that we felt at home and had everything we could need or want for an incredible week.

I had been traveling solo throughout NE on a 10 week adventure. My stay at Sand Bar Cottage Inn was my last - and my best - accommodation experience of the entire trip. Yes, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are wonderful. Yes, the Cottage Inn property and location are perfection. But, it was the Innkeeper, Chris Ruk, that made this stay one of my all-time my favorite vacation experiences. Ever! Chris is old school when it comes to service and hospitality; you feel immediately seen, valued and welcome. Chris also makes himself easily available to guests for questions, local recommendations, and just general good conversation. You never feel you are a bother, (as was my experience at another B&B in Maine). My only regret staying at Sand Bar Cottage Inn is that I wish I had reserved a longer stay! I was there for 4 days and 3 nights and I wish I had booked a week! It was such a joy-filled, fun, and peaceful experience, I didn’t want to leave. I will definitely be back to stay here again! Thank you Chris for such a beautiful experience and priceless memory! .

Rooms were spacious, bed was comfortable, everything was clean and quiet. Loved the breakfast and the kind staff. We enjoyed chatting with other guests. Location was excellent, don't miss the sand bar!

Location was nice.

The rooms were very small and the bathroom felt extremely cramped. The reception staff wasn’t particularly friendly, and interacting with them almost felt like an inconvenience.

Short walk to shops and harbor. Acadia National Park is a short drive as well. Breakfast was outstanding and the afternoon tea and sweet snacks was a welcome surprise. Room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The entire house and fireplace was so relaxing. Our host - Chris was delightful and knew lots of history on the house and area. Our only advice would be to go before the 1st part of November as many places in the area close for the season.

Loved, loved, loved the entire four days we were lucky enough to be in Bar Harbor AND stay at the Sand Bar Cottage! The Cottage is adorable, clean, quiet (when needed to be) and an experience in and of itself! Chris is hospitable and a wealth of information, the food each morning was delicious and the snacks in the afternoon were a welcome delight. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Sand Bar Cottage.

The inn was lovely with artwork throughout . The staff were warm, friendly & very helpful . Our room was very clean as was all of the inn ! The bed was very comfortable ( which can be an issue we’ve found at many facilities ) .Terrific location.

Beautiful and quaint Sand Bar Cottage Inn was better than fantastic. Chris Ruk, the Innkeeper, was over the top wonderful, friendly, and helpful. Every morning we were served a gourmet breakfast, and every afternoon a special treat was available at tea time. A warm fire lit the cozy main roam where we relaxed before we went out to dinner. The shops and restaurants were an easy walk away. I can’t say enough about our experience. It was the perfect addition to our trip to Bar Harbor.

There's a reason this B&B is #1 in Bar Harbor - a big part of it is the manager, Chris. Not only did he make us feel welcome from the time we checked in, he found out it was our friend's birthday and made a special trip out to bring back a birthday cupcake complete with lighted candle to enjoy in "her birthday chair" by the fire! Why you should pick Sand Bar: - Chris! and Keisha who checked us in was also great. - The gourmet breakfast served at your table in the wonderful dining rooml! On the three days we stayed, we enjoyed a wide range of delicious, home-made dishes: fresh from the oven poppy seed and blueberry crunch bread, pumpkin muffins, quiche, frittata, breakfast sandwich and more. - Tea time: more delicious home baked treats and special juices to go with - The star of the show: this beautiful Victorian house, furnished with wonderful paintings and art in every room. We spent a lot of time in the living room by the fire, meeting and chatting with other guests. So homey! - Location, location, location - a short stroll to town, in our case, through spectacular Fall foliage Could not think of a single negative except the time it took to travel there from Texas, which of course was not this establishment's fault! We are already planning a trip back - recommending Sand Bar to our hiking friends so that we can return and hike some more in Acadia National Park.

My parents and I enjoyed a fabulous weekend in Bar Harbor staying at the Sand Bar Cottage! Staying in such a wonderfully maintained vintage home with modern upgrades/amenities and the friendliest hosts felt like the perfect touch for our coastal Maine weekend. We loved feeling like we were "right at home" and couldn't get over all of the little ways that the Sand Bar Cottage team made us feel welcome & cozy. We couldn't recommend them more for your visit!

I cannot say enough about how much I loved The Sandbar Inn. The Inn itself is so, so lovely, but not at the expense of comfort. I felt relaxed and pampered throughout our stay. The “day” room has a fireplace and space for many groups of guests. The Butler’s Pantry is stocked with a tea station and bagged tasty goodies left over from the day’s tea time. (Almond bread, banana bread, and S’more tarts were our choices 😋) Our room was bright, the bed and linens comfortable and cozy. Breakfast was delicious - beginning with the day’s baked bread, followed by a savory and/or sweet choice - we were offered frittatas, pancakes, French toast, and a side of fruit. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive; the owner, Chris, was warm, cheerful, gracious and present. I highly recommend this lovely Inn for your Bar Harbor stay. I feel lucky to have been there.

I loved this Victorian gem! We had a king suite with cozy linens with beautifully decorated room. The resort housed a couple of cottages and the main home along with a welcoming fire pit sitting area. The complimentary breakfast was fruit, tiramisu, coffee, flavored butter, French toast & sausage was amazing!!

Sandbar Cottage was a very cozy, convenient, & welcoming inn for our stay at Bar Harbor! This was a perfect place to stay while visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. The room was well appointed and the common area was very nice. We enjoyed the full breakfast each morning and the afternoon snacks. Location cannot be beat! I would highly recommend staying at the Sand Bar Cottage Inn.

Location! Parking was easy. Breakfast was delicious, tea time, and live music were all amazing touches. Right next to the crossing for bar island. Staff was attentive. Easy drive to Acadia.

Minor issues in the cottage, just some wear and tear in the shower that would benefit from an overhaul.

Lovely Inn with great ambience located near everything! Easy walk to downtown restaurants and shopping as well as many activity tours and local transportation. Charming rooms with cottage decor and large front porch for breakfast and just relaxing. Quiet area one block from Bar Island Path. Fun music most nights in side yard on site. Chris and staff very friendly and helpful with needs.

2nd year in a row we have come to Stay at the Sandbar Cottage! Chris and Staff are the absolute best. They gave us the best recommendations for food and activities around the town. The Inn was very very wonderful! The staff and Innkeeper Chris was available if you had sny questions. They mingled with all tge guests and made you feel right at home. We will recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone that plans to go to Bar Harbor Maine. Walking distance to everything! Will deginetly go back

Everything was wonderful, the cottage, staff, and especially the breakfast!

We came for a wedding where most of our family stayed at this B&B! The staff were incredible, Chris, the manager/innkeeper, was so bubbly and we could tell that Sand Bar is his baby. He clearly loves this inn and puts a lot of love into it. The breakfasts were not only incredible, but also well-presented, creative, and had a good portion size. We got to choose between sweet and savory (Pancakes vs quiche or oatmeal vs omelet, etc). Every area of the hotel was clean and tidy. It really felt like we were staying at someone’s well-maintained, loving home. The location is incredible, short walking distance to all of the fun bars and restaurants. And the beds are SO COMFY! First trip I’ve been on that I didn’t look forward to sleeping in my bed again lol. Thank you Chris, Victoria, and the rest of staff for a memorable stay!

Where to even start on our fabulous stay at Sand Bar! It is such a charming place that feels like home (but better!)… Location couldn’t be any better, the breakfast and snacks were all so delicious and the staff is so gracious. By the end of the visit Chris felt like part of our family! He is awesome! A weekend to remember ❤️💚

An over the top experience for a perfect wedding weekend. Chris, manager went above and beyond making everyone feel Special. The breakfasts were scrumptious each morning with 3 choices of food and coffee. Beautifully decorated, clean and spacious rooms with wrap around porch. Had an amazing time at the Sand Bar Cottage while attending a wedding for a dear friend’s son at The Bar Harbor Resort across the street. It started with us walking in the door with Chris greeting us warmly by name/ like we just arrived to our new home away from home which was a quick walk to anything and everything! A plated breakfast and coffee served every morning awaits you along with cookies and a sweet treat each afternoon…and don’t miss out on their happy hour and cocktails! We will be back!

The Sand Bar Cottage is a beautiful Inn located in the heart of Bar Harbor. We recently stayed there for the first time and we could not have been more pleased. Chris and his staff were absolutely amazing providing extraordinary hospitality. Every morning we had a lovely breakfast followed by afternoon tea. The Sand Bar does not miss a beat as in the evenings there is live music which we thoroughly enjoyed. I must say that after staying at other hotels in Bar Harbor that the Sand Bar far surpassed expectations and we are already planning our return. Lou & Deb

We enjoyed our time here because of the gardens and front porch, the evening of live music in the garden every night. It was very close walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor… 5 min walk. Room 1 was clean and spacious enough for 2 people. The only negative would be that possibly a staff member’s living quarters were above us and heard them walking every morning at 5:30

What a fabulous place that lives up to the great reviews. The location is amazing, the rooms lovely and the history a delight to be a small part of. Chris is the consummate host, other managers/Inn Keepers should visit and spend time here seeing how it’s done, the rest of the staff lovely, shout out especially to Vitoria who was very engaging with myself and my wife. Lovely breakfast which was so well presented, sorry I didn’t say Hi chef but great job, as was the afternoon cake/cookies.

The location was excellent. Close to town although off the beaten path of tourists and traffic. Lovely public spaces and good parking availability.

I couldn’t figure out how to use the television. 2 remotes and no luck. I am not a techie by any means.

Central but secluded location without heavy tourists, beautiful grounds, staff is very friendly and offers advice for local experiences! Food was excellent and Cottage 11 was amazing!

My wife and I decided to try something NEW FOR US and rolled into Bar Harbor with no hotel reservations. We stopped by the tourist information office and indirectly they guided us to the Sand Bar Cottage. It was heaven sent. The inn is amazing and immediately felt like home. The staff was attentive without being intrusive. And the proprietor Chris was exactly what we needed. This IS NOT the Holiday Inn. If your thing is checking in to room 431 and being invisible, stay somewhere else. Here both staff and guest alike will say good morning. Here you can sit with a drink and listen to live music in the evening. Here you can have a cup of coffee on a wrap-around porch and catch your breath. Thank you to the Sand Bar Cottage, you were exactly what we wanted and needed.

This was part of a larger trip. There are not many options for staying in Bar Harbor. Most are these old victorian houses. The person who greeted us was not welcoming. The room was very basic, a bit like staying in a Motel 6. Nothing hospitable about the property. The cleaning person sat outside of our room (6ft away), waiting for us to check out on the day we left so that she could clean the second we left the room. When I went to give my key back, the woman (who has entertaining personal friends at the front desk for coffee) asked me how everything was. When I said, 'Umm, it was okay'. Hoping this would open conversation, she said 'okay, I'll take your key, bye'. She went back to conversation again with friends. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask for a milk alternative when grabbing to go coffee on the way out. She seemed perturbed. Not sure there is much to offer in Bar Harbor for nice places, however, this place at over $600 a night was awful. How embarrassing for these properties that they are overcharging their guests in these tourist like areas while delivering a sub par stay.
