Staff was brilliant
Very warm welcome, lovely food, excellent location
We were in the cheapest room which was pleasant but only has high velux windows, rather than something you can see out
Very “laid back” vibe to the place with a comfortable atmosphere. Beautiful patio area. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and we were impressed with the wide range of choice on the menu. Breakfast was also very good. Staff were all good. The room was ok for 1 night, bathroom was good and proper toiletries were provided alongside lovely fluffy soft towels. Bed was super comfortable.
The windows in our room were velux windows so no view available but also limited airflow. We did have a fan, which we should have used as the room was quite warm. Air conditioning in the room would have made it better.
Staff were polite and helpful at all times, it was much more relaxed and friendly than we expected and made the stay even better. We will be going back and will recommend, don't change the winning formula.
Nothing it was all good
Excellent food, good location, nice room.
GM was stressed due to kitchen issue, but quite rude to us. Check-in listed as 2pm on booking confirmation but he told us 3pm so we had to come back. Hair dryer so hot it burnt my head and PAT test was dated 2023. GM just said it had been PAT tested since then but the sticker dropped off. Any decent electrician would remove old sticker so that didn't strike us as truthful. Other staff were stand offish but it felt like a stressful environment to work in, so not surprised.
What lovely staff friendly and attentive.
Thought the restaurant was.over priced and disapointing
The various sectors of the Filly were contrasting in the inside and outside areas both of a high standarrf
The inside bar and dining toom
We had a lovely room. Very large comfortable bed. Very friendly staff. Amazing breakfast.
Our shower was just warm and then cold when my husband used it.
EXCELLENT. BEST POACHED EGGS EVER On arrival, my daughter and I were shwnnto a rom with a double bed - not the twins we had asked for. NO fuss, and we were offered another room - ie one each. Lovey rooms, very comfy bed, everything working really well. Even a Dyson fan to keep the heat at bay. Very delicious coffee in the morning
Natural or coconut yoghurt/kefir n the morning, and possibly some fruit?
It was very clean , staff couldn’t do enough for you , food was lovely & plenty of it . Location was good if you didn’t want to drive you could get the bus or the hop on hop off bus from across the road .
Breakfast was fine on the first day. The lady in charge arranged for me to have a bacon sandwich. Sadley on our last day when I asked for a bacon sandwich I was told by a different lady that I could not have a sandwich. Very disapointing.
1) builders woke ys earley on our first morning erecting a scafolding outside the next room. 2) The loo flush never worked correctly, we had the water running all one night. I sorted it out the next morning.
The breakfast was great. Location was good.
All the staff were absolutely lovely apart from the manager. He was rude, impatient, arrogant and unfriendly. A shame, because everyone else was helpful and friendly.
Coffee was good, Dyson fan supplied staff pleasant.
No window in bedroom, just roof lights. Breakfast offering poor. Looking for continental breakfast, fresh pastries, wholemeal cereal/granola, better fruit selection. Maybe some summer fruits or compote. Can’t comment on cooked breakfast as just settled for coffee which was good.
Lovely location
The room was too hot. The fridge was broken which made the room hotter
The staff were all very relaxed and the different areas in the hotel/pub made for a nice choice of where ro sit etc. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The bed was incredibly comfortable.
The only reason it wasn't a 9 out of 10 was the incredible heat in the room, which then attracted mosquitoes and I had about 18 bites while my partner couldn't sleep until the early houra. Fly nets might help but the heat ... it would suggest lack of insulation in the roof space.
To be honest, the food was a little disappointing. My husband had a full English the first morning which was very mediocre. .
We are not fans of soda bread and there was no alternative.
Lovely place with great views over the new forest. Only a short walk from the town of Brockenhurst, with plenty of parking spaces. We visited during the hot weather and a fan was thoughtfully placed in our room. The pub area is really lovely and so is the outside garden. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was really good. Would stay again
Nothing
Location. Breakfast was included despite there being a known error with the hotel & the website which makes it look as though some people don’t get free breakfast (hotel said they had tried to rectify this with Booking.com but hadn’t been able to yet). It was delicious too! Staff were very friendly.
Room was dusty but otherwise it was great
Reception would not look after my one small over night bag for a hour prior to 3pm check in. Very disappointed.Room had non functioning fridge and non functioning extractor fan.
Nice rooms and bathrooms.. very clean. Tea and coffee facilities on room. Good food in restaurant. Lovely setting.
Small windows in rooms, slightly stuffy... on a very busy main road, but not the hotels fault.
Excellent location Staff so helpful and friendly Love this place
Nothing
Friendly, helpful staff Lovely food Comfortable room Unexpected entertainment in the evening which was great!
Very close to a noisy main road Mattress was rather hard
it's great to have breakfast inclued, the staff are really friendly. They help us open the door while we left the key in the room. We could also place our rented bikes in a safe place overnight.
I've booked 2 twin beds rooms but only 1 avalialbe. The pub closed a little bit early (at 10:30 pm) but the room is still hot as there was heatwave for the days we stayed.
The breakfast was okay, I didn't like the taste of the baked beans but the rest of the breakfast was lovely. The Hotel itself was lovely.
he only fault was due to the really hot weather we had during our stay, the room was very hot and un comfortable. We were provided with a Dyson fan which did nothing to help. I would guess on a normal day when the temperature ain't so hot, we would of have a better experience.
Only a small pub hotel which is great. Location is brilliant for the new forest and war great to sit in the pub after a long day
Very clean and comfortable. Lovely pub and food
The location was well placed for forest and coast Breakfast included which was good
Didn’t have non dairy alternative milk Room was warm as our rooms had skylights not windows
Breakfast was great.
It was a beautiful place to stay, great decor, friendly staff, amazing food. Really cosy and the location is great too. Walking distance to the brewery and vineyard.
Although our room had skylights it didnt have windows.
Lovely venue, food and staff fab.
Very good
Noisy road. We live in a rural area so it was very noticeable
The friendy welcome and it's location.
Everything was to my liking, no problems.
The breakfast was delicious. The bed was very comfy and clean, the homemade cookies in the room were a real treat.
Nothing.
Fabulous. Would recommend it!
Everything! Comfortable beautifully appointed room, excellent food and lovely staff.
Delicious, made-to-order cooked breakfast from a wide menu. Coffee of my choice. Not fast but cooked freshly so absolutely fine. Make sure your room has a fan. It's get hot in the room even in April. Clever velux window in the bedroom that closes automatically if it rains so you can leave it open when you sleep. In Room 5 at least you can't hear the restaurant at all.
Location, bed was large and comfortable
Room was noisy ( next to main busy road), dark ( lighting was terrible), room service was next to zero ( no housekeeping until a complaint was made), attitude of staff was poor, food was average especially breakfast where our requests went unfulfilled. Our first day breakfast was at a table where the filthy carpet beneath still had food on it from the night before. The manager, we can only assume he was the manager, was rude, smug and arrogant and minced around the place with a nasty smell under his nose. This was our third visit and stay, the first two a few years ago being a lovely experience with different staff, this was most definitely the worst and last.
Location, lovely decor, amazingly yummy food, great friendly staff and will definitely be going back soon!
That we couldn’t stay longer because they were fully booked!! ;)
Ideally situated to explore the New Forest. Room was very comfortable. Would definitely stay again
Convenient location for a party we were attending. Lovely we could get a late lunch when we arrived, which was delicious. Would definetly stay again.
Loved the location, the warm welcome from all staff, the food was amazing, the room was cosy, clean and comfortable
Comfortable bed and spacious room. Excellent breakfast. Plenty of parking space.
First morning shower was cold - apparently the boiler was switched off.
Comfortable and stylish room. Staff were excellent
There was a smell in the hallway but didn’t affect our room. Poached eggs were overcooked at breakfast
i brought this for my daughter and her partner and they couldn't rate it highly enough. The room was beautiful with a great breakfast. They had a lovely time - thankyou.
The room was comfortable
The toilet was not working. The water isolator had been turned off so someone must have known about the problem and not informed us. We only found out when we had already used it. When I turned on the water supply the water just ran straight into the toilet bowl without filling up the cistern. We had to turn the water off again and use the toilets in the pub. We sent a message first thing in the morning and informed the woman who checked us out. Nobody had bothered to get back to us. Very poor service.
Location, rooms and ambience
We were there on a Sunday eve and it felt like the staff did not want to be there. We felt a bit rushed over dinner
Very friendly staff, excellent food particularly the breakfast, really comfortable room albeit a bit on the warm side. Good range of cask ale, all in good condition. Great location for what we wanted to do.
Nothing
Charming accommodation, pleasant staff.
Very poor food, evening meal and breakfast.
Nice layout and atmosphere
Over priced poor quality food
Thoughtful touches in the room like cookies and pillow spray, and breakfast was cooked to order which was great. Very nice pub stay in the New Forest with easy access to Roydon Wood, would recommend.
For those without a car it is walkable from the train station but not along the main road which doesn't have a pavement
Everything! Great location for walking trails, the restaurant served tasty food, and the service was so lovely - everyone was nice!
A program in the room outlining local to-do's information/ reconfirming dining experience would be helpful. Also, there is no hair dryer in the unit. I would have appreciated that touch!
Amazing choices for cooked breakfast. Interesting and tasty dinner menu with nice pub atmosphere. Location right by nice country walks.
I’d have liked some more fruit available for breakfast and the tea was rather weak.
The breakfast was amazing and also the staff were lovely too. Nothing was too much trouble. The only reason it was a little noisy was that there were some dogs in the other room. The hotel however put us in the furthest room so that was good. It didn’t make any difference to us as we enjoyed our stay at the Filly In. We have stayed several times before. Great food great staff and fabulous location.
Nothing
Lovely pub with comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast.
Staff were excellent. Loved our stay as did our 2 dogs
To be fair the staff in restaurant and bar staff, house keeping were lovely I give them a 9.👍
We were given a room that had a strange smell to it once we walked in but we thought it probably go and left our bags and went for drinks but when we came back it was not good and a lot stronger, because cut was late we put up with it, but next morning we reported it to staff, apparently it was known to have hygiene problem with the main drainage Why would you put guests in there,The young lady moved us which was ok My main point was the manager said you can have a couple drinks on the house and something to eat and to be honest I thought he wasn’t even bothered about putting us in the room in the first place ! That’s my impression Won’t be going back there shame as could be a really nice place
Food was great and lovelly atmosphere
Hallway up stairs smelled bad
The food, the staff and location were wonderful
The corridor once you went through to rooms 2-7 had a really bad smell, our bathroom (room 6) was particularly bad. The smell of sewerage was very bad
Wonderful food
Very good location.
Food both at dinner and breakfast was excellent.
Rooms are a little tired - lamps broken, roof lights not shutting One one cup for tea/coffee provided - had to get another. Simple things but they should be spotted and rectified.
Breakfast was good
I came home covered in mosquito bites. Never been worse. The room was stifling so we opened a sky Light. Big mistake. Hotel will not keep custom until it resolves this issue . I will not return.
The deputy landlady was brilliant nothing was too much trouble, she took time out too chat with us, tell us all the info about where the dog could go for walks, food was available to buy for him in a little doggie corner, blankets were available for outside which was where we spend a later evening to have a couple of night caps, food in restaurant had a wide choice & was very tasty finishing with a cheese board!!! Yummie , could not fault anything other than shame we couldn’t stay longer once again thanks to all the staff excellent
Nothing to say here lovely evening Mr & Mrs Quinton
The room was good - especially the bed which was big and comfortable. Bathroom also good.
The bad drain smell as you go past the toilets downstairs and up the stairs to the bedrooms was not pleasant.
The property was clean and tidy all over
There was a constant sewer smell from the start to the finish of of our stay
Lovely traditional inn and friendly staff
Super friendly and helpful staff, a beautifully decorated room with lots of helpful amenities (including a fridge with fresh milk for morning tea) and a very comfortable bed - I think it was a super king and both the mattress and pillows were great, we slept so well. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options for fresh cooked meals, and the location was great for exploring the New Forest by car, really central and never more than 15/20mins to a cute town or a great walking spot. Was a bit worried about noise from the road when we arrived, but inside you can't hear cars at all, and the traffic really dies down in the evening anyway.
Nothing, it was all great.
Having the bed made and room tidied was very welcome. The dining room was good as was the food. Great location.
Our room had very low beams.
All the staff at this Inn were amazing. Food is excellent, both the breakfast and evening meals.
Quite a bit of dust in our room, on pictures and lampshade. Apart from that it was clean everywhere else.
Friendly. Clean. Welcoming.
Upstairs room 3 window bangs in the wind.
Very comfortable bed, room was good size as was bathroom. Very clean, great selection of teas and coffees and two tasty cookies left as welcome gift. Food is always top quality, this is our fourth(I think) stay and standard has been consistent every time. Perfect location with public transport to Southampton, Lymington and new forest villages a two minute walk away.
Honestly cannot think of anything
Location and property excellent
The room stank of drains, so much so when we took our clothes out of the bag we had hung up in the room to smelled the same, such a real shame because the place is lovely
The staff
The food was not great The biggest issue was the horrible smell from the bathroom drain
Lovely country pub with a fantastic menu, delicious food and really comfy rooms .
Our room had a very strong drain smell and we couldn’t turn the heating down, but it didn’t ruin our stay.
Nice room and good food
The toilet smelt and the smell did not go away. I wondered if it had t been used for a while.
Truly amazing place with very accommodating staff - we hit an unexpected diversion that added almost an hour towards our journey. The staff was very understanding of the situation and waited for our arrival despite the pub being closed. The room itself was amazing, with one of the comfiest bed we slept on away from home. The walk-in shower was very convenient with the cherry on top being the cosmetics provided.
Location, breakfast, room.
Could not connect to wifi.
The majority of the staff were friendly and efficient - couldn't do enough to help.
The food the first night was cold. We had eaten here a couple of years ago and the food was excellent so a little disappointed.
What a beautiful place , it was clean ,staff were brilliant ,and the food was perfect
We liked every thing
The decor in the room and bathroom. A comfortable bed. Good evening meal.
All in all, a disappointing stay (room 5). There was a terrible sewerage smell coming from the bathroom throughout the stay (also very apparent along the corridor) which really affected our sleep and stay. The bedroom had 2 tiny velux windows, the larger of which didn't open, and the room felt very claustrophic with no fresh air, as the skylight closes automatically when it rains. Although there is a fan in the room, it felt airless, plus the terrible smell! The hotel's website advertises these rooms as ones for stargazers, but you'd have to have a pretty flexible neck to crane from the bed! I think if you booked the room with the window, you might have a different experience, we walked past this room as it was being cleaned and it did look very nice, but we just felt quite disappointed.
