Het was brandschoon en gezellig ingericht. Fijn bed en douche en een heerlijk ontbijt.

Het plafond en deurposten waren vrij laag, regelmatig ons hoofd gestoten, maar dat was ook de charme van een oude Inn.

All the staff was really nice and welcoming. The included breakfast was great.

The mattress in our room needs to be changed, we had back pain from the springs poking at us. I was expecting much more at the price we paid. Normally $300 cad/night gets us outstanding comfort.

The restaurant served excellent food. The room was clean and comfortable.

The toilet brush was unsightly as not clean despite the room being clean. It would have been helpful to have hooks in the bathroom for clothes when in the shower

Our hosts welcomed us as if it was our home from home. Breakfast was so lovely and they wanted to hear all about what we had been up to.

Everything just perfect, well located, very charming and cosy and the staff wonderful.

The location of the Hotel is great. Breakfast choices and quality were excellent and the interaction with dining room staff added real value. St Saviour's Church is beautiful and was open despite there being no one on duty. There is a display of 150 poppies in the grounds to celebrate 150 years of the Mother's Union.

Mattress a little soft for our personal choice and comfort. Access to the Rufus Stone room once it had rained required you to duck down low to avoid getting drenched. It would have been lovely to have a little fridge in the room as it was very hot and the fresh milk we bought went off after one day despite being immersed in cold water.

Super location. Off street private parking spot. Secure bike storage for hired bikes. All staff were kind & welcoming at all times.

One velux didn’t open in the bedroom & with the heat that would have been beneficial. Shame there is no outdoor space to sit & utilise.

Excellent place to base yourself and explore New Forrest. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was top notch. They even cater for Gluten Free. Definitely come back.

We loved the crisp fresh bed linen and the very clean ensuite. The breakfast was very nice ( except the coffee)

The bed was very firm, there were only internal shutters on the windows ( no curtains) so light came through all night - there were lights on outside. The road outside was busy and we found the traffic disturbed us. There were shelves next to the bed but one side sloped downwards so couldn’t be used for a glass of water. We booked a small double room and we were happy with the size, however we would have appreciated a chair. The headboard was very uncomfortable to lean against.

There wasn’t anything in particular that I didn’t like. An improvement could be an air conditioning unit in the bedroom during summer.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. Perfect location. Breakfast and dinner were excellent.

Mattress had sagging springs. Although a mattress pad mostly covered it my husband found it too soft with not enough support.

The location of the hotel was great for access to the train station and local restaurants. My room was quiet even though it faced the street. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection. Reserved parking with the welcome sign was a nice touch!

Staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was good, room was clean and bed was nice, and there was enough space. We also had a private area outside the room. Location also very good and walking distance to trails, train station, etc.

Our room was next to the kitchen, so the extractor fan each morning and evening was audible and blew in the smell, which meant we had to shut windows during this time and couldn’t really enjoy the mini garden outside.

We loved the warm welcome greeted by a complimentary coffee and home made cake. The room was lovely and the staff were very helpful. We loved the restaurant onsite which served great food. The breakfast was also very good. The allocated parking space was appreciated.

The room we had was very small with a very small bathroom. There were also some steep little stairs. You have to watch your head, rather a lot of low beams.

The welcome was very friendly, with scrummy cake. Our room was lovely and spacious. Large comfortable bed, with decent pillows. Nice bathroom, great shower and lovely big mirror! And a very handy bench, where we could lay out all our toiletries. On site parking, with an allocated space was much appreciated too. And a delicious freshly cooked breakfast. We had a lovely stay and would return.

Nice welcome by the staff. As our room was very hot due to it being an attic room the owner kindly brought a cool air fan which helped a little. Very comfortable large bed with good pillows

The attic room wasn't good as light woke us up at 5am - we had to keep the skylights open due to the heat so could close the blinds.A bit disappointed with the breakfast. My poached eggs were hard and the bread was factory sliced. Would have been nice to have a selection or just good local bakers bread. With so much fruit in season it would have been nice to have had some fresh strawberries rather than defrosted frozen compote. Also the yogurt wasn't the quality Greek style and meagre portion of honey and marmalade.

The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The bathroom included shampoo and shower gel and and a hairdryer was available. There was an extensive breakfast menu with freshly cooked food. We were allocated a personalised parking space in the car park

The kitchen ventilation extractor was close to the room which would start up at about 7am but this couldn't be avoided.

The staff was lovely, the hotel itself was very cute and very well located. The breakfast was fresh and nice.

For the price of one night being close to 200£ I was expecting a slightly bigger room and AC, the value for money isn’t amazing. However it’s still a very cute place and I’d still recommend it to people as it’s very well located and well kept.

I chose this hotel because the reviews were so good. I think we had an unfortunate experience with our room, Verderers, as I could hear that other guests at breakfast were happy with their stay. The hotel is in a good position in the Forest and our welcome on arrival and the breakfast were excellent.

Our room, Verderers, on the ground floor, seemed damp and smelt musty throughout our 1 night stay. When I raised this the next morning, the manager apologized and said the dampness was due to previous guests having lots of very hot baths during a 5 night stay. Apparently a dehumidifier had been in our room as the dampness reading was so high. Although I accepted the account of the hot baths at the time, I am not sure it is the whole story as the paper beneath the paint on the outside wall was bubbling in parts - and felt damp to the touch. There were joss sticks in the room which I believe were probably to attempt to disguise the musty smell. The manager offered me a 20% refund which I felt was fair. However, nothing has been refunded to my credit card in the last 10 days and a chasing email has not been replied to. As we are in the hospitality business ourselves we understand that things go wrong from time to time. It is the manner in which incidents are dealt with that is important. I don’t feel that promising a partial refund but then not delivering it was a good response. As stated above, our unfortunate experience in that bedroom need not necessarily detract from other guests positive reports of comfort in other rooms.

Our room had a very small bathroom and anyone over 5ft11 would struggle to stand up in the shower. Room was small, and we couldn't plug kettle in without putting it on an upturned bin on the floor. Road outside pretty noisy.

We had our own little front door with seating area outside as we were around the back. The room was lovely and clean as was the main hotel. I loved the named parking spot and the snug area. It was also in a great location and the staff were lovely.

Lovely friendly staff who were extremely helpful. The room was unique with tree bed which was very comfortable. The breakfast was perfect, served with smile by lovely ladies. Everywhere was clean and well looked after. Sorry we left without saying goodbye and thankyou but we needed to get on the road while it was cooler a d the staff were busy in the kitchen.

Nothing the Cottage Lodge could do about the weather but it was extremely hot and the fan was much needed but dudnt help a grest deal.

Only one thing, our room was next to kitchen and the extractor was very noisy. It was a shame as there was a lovely terrace. If we stay here again we will ask for a room away from the extractor.

Gem of a hotel. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel before check in and after check out, so that we could go for a walk. The room was very clean and modern with a tv, comfy bed and there was a decent amount of storage too. The shower was great too. Breakfast was included and the options were vast and the quality was top notch. Would definitely recommend!!.

We liked the actual place so lovely and comfortable and in a great location central for bars & restaurants 😀 and in walking distance as well. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very nice as well. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. Also we intend on returning again as enjoyed very much. 😀

We booked a double with patio and enjoyed a spotlessly clean room with a beautiful garden patio. Perfect location in the New Forest within walking distance of restaurants and paths to enjoy the scenery and the local horses. Wonderful host, Eldar, was so helpful with restaurant and activity suggestions and anything else we might need. Safe, convenient location and excellent WiFi. Excellent on-site restaurant and a delicious breakfast ordered from a menu. We loved everything and will definitely return if we're in the area.

The old world charm, historic building, celebrates the location of The New Forest and represents it well. Very good breakfast! Like the honor drinks bar.

Room stuffy, no ventilation. The tub/shower was difficult to crawl out of and quite dangerous for elderly people like us. The toilet didn’t flush well and emitted an unpleasant odour after a few uses.

Parking space had my name on it which was a nice discovery. Greeting on arrival with a pot of tea or coffee and cake. Lovely touch after a long journey. Breakfast offered exceptional choice, some prepared for your arrival in the dining room and then the cooked breakfast choices on request. The bedroom and bathroom were very clean. I understand they use locally sourced food and offer honey, jams and marmalade from a local farm. I bought some honey and look forward to trying it.

The mattress was soft on the edges and appeared to rise slightly towards the bottom. It was not a problem in that we did sleep alright once we got used to the feeling we might roll off the bed. Being a firm edge bed owner highlighted the difference. Personal preference.

The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Fine for 1 night but left with achy necks and backs. We have stayed previously and didn't have the same problem so it depends on the room you are in.

With only 10 rooms, we found the hotel quiet and peaceful. Staff were hard working and polite. It was good to see the use of local produce and ethical products. Breakfasts were well planned which meant little wastage which I hate. Would recommend and definitely stay again.
