The location is excellent.

The room was very dusty and the windows dirty. Stains (although washed ) on bedding and towles. Motion sensor light from next door going on and off during night and seeing that there is n no blnd in toilet window, feels like you’re sleeping next to a lighthouse.

The room was dirty - mop hair on the floor, human hair in the corner, creased and stained linen, mould on the curtains, broken tiles to the bathroom door. I am 2 metres tall and could see the dust on the cupboard

The location is magnificent - what a beautiful place. We felt the staff were also very friendly and helpful, and really enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. The room was lovely - it had a fantastic view of the lagoon, and a balcony, and the bed was comfy.

I only have two small gripes - it’s not very well soundproofed. At 5am I heard a neighbour go to the loo! Speaking of loos, in the smaller rooms perhaps a privacy screen on the door would be a great idea - I know not everyone feels like being in full view on the toilet (including me!). So earplugs and bravery was needed :)

Fantastic sunset and sunrise views. An easy drive from Stellenbosch and excellent location from which to access the West Coast Park.

Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for a private function. We could not experience the awesome menu we were told about. Busy with renovations. A bit noisy. No dustbin in the room by the coffee station.

Venue was excellent, very impressed with staff! Breakfast was 'good' but some elements of the food could be improved (like bacon). But overall we really enjoyed our stay! Will be back!

Everything was great, the suite was comfortable, the view was incredible and we had a wonderful stay.

Our room was fabulous with amazing views and very well appointed. Dinner was always a treat with Riaan and his amazing Team whose service was outstanding and made us feel at home. The food was superb and we will definitely be back.

The shower was only luke warm in the morning so I missed a hot shower but always nice and hit by the evening.

Poor WIFI

The view was spectacular. The music playing whilst having predinner drinks and dinner was very well chosen and Riaan was most obliging.

No rusks in the room for morning coffee, but managed to get some before retiring for bed.

The treatment we got there was so bad. First night no orientation. Then following day, our room was not cleaned and when we requested for it to be cleaned we left for 1 hour came back still not cleaned that time its raining outside. When they finally did, sheets unchanged, they just pulled the blankets. The place is beautiful but the smell of drain is like plumbing done wrong.

Staff treating people of color differently. The following morning after our room was not cleaned, the cleaning colored lady budged in without knocking even when she sees she's wrong, no apology she just proceeded to say she's here to clean.

The bathtub was leaking and the water came to the bedroom we told them they came to mop the floor invading our privacy and placed a lot of towels on the floor instead of moving us to the other room because the room became so untidy

Room, views and breakfast was nice but that's about it!

We were really disappointed with our stay. My spouse had stayed their previously and mentioned that it was truly a wonderful experience. When we arrived - we were shown to our room which was freezing cold and that the heating solution was a tiny blow heater which was brought to our room. From the early evening and through the entire first night - the power tripped in our room on the hour every hour which made for a very unenjoyable night's sleep. In addition - the Wifi in the room kept dropping which meant we couldn't watch DSTV, Netflix without it constantly freezing, dropping and barely any reception on our phones. I went to reception on Saturday morning and the gentleman there said "oh that's weird, an electrician came to the property and to sort out the problem - what room number are you" to which I responded and he said he would follow up. No one bothered to contact us, come to the room about either issue. The 2nd night both of these issues continued which meant by Sunday morning, we were exhausted. On top of it all, my spouse attempted to shower on Sunday Morning prior to our departure and the shower was freezing cold, not even luke warm. At this point we were fed up so decided to just check out. No staff offering to assist with bags, very average service at front desk. Really disappointing stay all in all. Really hope they improve as it's a shame such a beautiful property is being run so poorly and no attention to guest satisfaction, really important issues!

There was no network in the room for cellphone which meant we could not receive calls, the WiFi kept on cutting since there was no network we could not use our mobile data, the TV in our room (2) did not work, the couch in the room had stains on it. I’d also suggest putting telephones in the rooms so that people can contact the reception area.

Riaan was very welcoming and great. We felt very comfortable as the same sex couple.

My room was not cleaned properly. The bed was made but I found sand all over the floor on my return to the room. I also had to ask for fresh towels as I found our wet, used towels in the room after it was cleaned. There was a stench in the toilet. There is also no refuse bin in the room. I found empty alcohol bottles in the cupboard next to the fridge, which was a bit awkward. I had to dispose of it myself. The outside light fixture was not done.

The location is absolutely beautiful and makes for a perfect getaway. The food was exceptional, every meal was delicious and beautifully prepared. Breakfast was excellent value for money, and the pastries were an absolute highlight. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and well equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing stay.

We were woken up at around 1:00 a.m. by people screaming and partying and the noise carried through easily, especially as our room was near reception, where the soundproofing seemed poor. The Wi-Fi was also unreliable, and we couldn’t get the TV to connect properly to either DStv or Netflix, which was frustrating.

The decor was stunning, including our view of the beach. Everything was clean in our room and felt like home away from home. Loved the beach access, which was literally 5 minutes' walk. There's also a Shark Shack with splendid views of the beach.

Slight cracks in ceiling and blinds didn't work well.

We had a room with a lovely sight and the area is beautifull and peacefull. Riaan was a outstanding host and the other personnel also very helpfull and friendly. The food was great and we enjoyed our stay very much!

It could have been nice if there was a aircon in room 15... otherwise everything just fine.

The view is absolutely breathtaking.

The room we were initially given was directly above the kitchen. The room itself was absolutely beautiful, but the noise coming from the kitchen staff was extremely overstimulating, especially when you’ve booked a stay expecting peace and tranquility. We requested to be moved to a quieter room and were charged an additional fee, which we gladly paid. However, what I found strange was that the staff already seemed aware that the original room had ongoing noise issues. It would have been appreciated if this had been disclosed beforehand or if a quieter room had been offered from the start. To make matters worse, we were informed that we could not use the restaurant or other facilities until 6 p.m. because of a 70th birthday celebration taking place. If guests have paid to enjoy the property’s facilities, it’s disappointing to be told they are unavailable for a large part of the day. It really defeats the purpose of staying there. Unfortunately, the upgraded room also fell short of expectations. It was dusty, had no bin, no bathroom door, and there wasn’t an extra blanket provided despite it being winter. Overall, the experience did not offer good value for money. The one standout feature was the breathtaking view, which was truly beautiful.

It is in a beautiful area. Quite serene.

1. The WiFi is bad. You can’t have meetings without it failing. 2. The shower water is lukewarm and can stop anytime while you are showering. This was the most annoying part of the experience. 3. The room didn’t have an air conditioner. The room stays humid all the time. 4. The bathroom cabinet top can only accommodate the basin, leaving no space to put any of your toiletries or toiletry bag. 5. The shower door is level with the floor, therefore placing a towel or mat in front of is impossible. You have to place it further, putting you at a risk of slipping on the tiles when stepping out of the shower. 6. There is no mirror to see yourself from top to bottom. 7. The towel hanger is super small for the size of towels provided. When you pull out one towel, the one adjacent follows because the space between the two rods is too small. 8. There is no place to hang the used hand towel. You have to hang it back on the dysfunctional rack.

I didn't like their verification process. They request for the credit card used for the booking and make a copy of it, particularly the last four digits. I was extremely uncomfortable with that and I had to block the card thereafter.

Wow, the most beautiful view in the West Coast. I love Sharkbay in Langebaan. Friendly staff, the restaurant serve delicious food and cappuccinos & cocktails. The accommodation is absolutely beautiful & the best. Beautiful spacious room, with white linnen. Our room had a stunning view over Sharkbay.

The view

Our hotel stay was incredibly disappointing from the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out. To start, the front desk receptionist (the lady wearing spectacles) had a terrible attitude. She initially ignored us entirely, and when she finally acknowledged our presence, she was completely unwelcoming. She abruptly sent us away and told us to come back at 3:00 PM to check in. The hotel itself has a permanent, damp smell, and the walls have absolutely no soundproofing, you can hear everything happening in the hallways and neighboring rooms. To make matters worse, our room had no heating whatsoever, leaving us freezing all night. The absolute lowest point of our stay, however, was the hotel restaurant. We ordered dinner, but my wife had to send most of her food back because the prawns were completely raw. Our waiter even looked at the dish and openly agreed with us. Shockingly, the kitchen didn't fix the food, nor did they offer a replacement, yet we were forced to pay for it in full. What was supposed to be an exciting, romantic weekend away turned into a total disaster. We literally felt robbed both of a nice getaway and of our money, considering we were charged for food we couldn't even consume. We will definitely not be back.

Breakfast was average, e.g. no freshly baked croissant or pastries. Staff was friendly. The restaurant manager Rian Lauters went out of his way to make us feel special. He always welcomed us and had our special table ready for us. No better setting in the whole of South Africa.

The location is superb overlooking the Langebaan lagoon and West Coast Nature Reserve. Breakfast was adequate, but a pity the plate with the poached was cold. Dinner was excellent and good value for the price. We plan another visit later this year.

Bathroom: Towel racks or hooks are needed - nowhere to hang the wet towels. Also a hook for the spare toilet roll. Not good to put it next to the hand basin, as it gets wet! Beds are very comfortable

The property is pretty and scenery is nice

The cleanliness of the rooms need to improve. We had mould in the water tank of our coffee machine and socks in the cupboard from the previous visitors. Floors are not mopped daily in the rooms.

The bed was excellent — a large king-size and very comfortable. The bathroom shower was also superb. There was a lovely tea and coffee station with great options available. Having a large window with such an amazing view was a real bonus, and the front rooms with the balconies are especially lovely. Dinner at the restaurant was also very good.

I feel that the new rooms are not yet 100% ready to accommodate guests comfortably. Paint smell and unfinished kitchen. Due to an error I made with my booking dates, I was initially placed in one of these rooms and, unfortunately, was not very happy with it. However, I would like to acknowledge the staff who made every effort to assist us and accommodate us by moving us to a better room. Thank you to Ester Englebrecht from Touchdown Africa for her help and assistance during the process. However, I would like to make a point that our room, which we were in, had a drip during the night right outside, which was quite unsettling.

Reception lady is not very welcoming, she made me regret booking the place upon check in.There is no phone in the room, you have to use your own airtime to request something from reception. The place is also very dusty, it looks like it’s still a work in progress.

My room - basically over looked the main parking driveway. Internet never worked so no TV to watch. The main door to the hotel was a couple of meters from our room so every time someone closed the door is banged all night and first thing in the morning.

I love the location, a bit far but worth it. The food is also amazing, the staff are amazing and the vibe is very welcoming. I loved every second of it.

The bedding was dirty with blood on the sheets and was clearly not cleaned or made up after previous guests stay..I left several messages at reception and by phone for the manager to call me, she still hasn't made an effort. This is the 2nd time I have an issue with the hotel, still waiting for a breakfast refund which we paid for unnecessarily - we were told by the manager it will be refunded and two years later, still not. I live in the UK, but book hotels for my family in SA often - Shark Bay will never be used for a stay and I'll advise everyone in my business and friends circle to NEVER stay at this poorly managed hotel. It's a pity because the food is good and can be a very nice hotel if not mis-managed
